I didn't see a listing for NV57H57U, so I decided to write a review anyway, considering both units almost look the same.
Here's the specs:
1. Operating system ( same for 57u and 58u): Windows 7 Home Premium
2. Processor: 2nd generation i5 dual core
3. Memory: 57u has 6GB standard memory, whereas 58u only offers 4GB standard memory
4. Battery life is long enough for average usage: 4 hours unplugged
5 Both 57u and 58u offer built-in microphone and webcam. I figure they are standard components in newer laptops that came out after 2008 or 2009.
6. 3 usb ports, 2 on the right, 1 on the left. It comes with a USB 3.0 port.
Graphics card: Intel 3000 HD. When we see HD, we are sometimes fooled by the way Intel markets themselves. Most i3 and i5 laptops that came out after 2010 have been paired with Intel 3000 HD. We would be hard pressed, to find a machine with Nvidia Geforce that works alongside the newer Intel dual core 3 or 5.
As Intel recently entered the market for the graphics card, where Nividia used to monopolize.
The way Intel combats experienced and high performance Nividia is : integrating Intel Graphics card into intel dual core processors. That is a downright smart move!
Intel can claim that their graphics cards have been re-architected, boosting performance all they want. But if you test out the laptops at a store, mostly Bestbuy or Frys Electronics, you'll notice that the graphics rating for the Intel 3000 HD is 4.7, falling short of the performance of Nvidia graphics cards.
Anyway, I'm not a heavy game user, so I can't commend on the gaming experience for Intel 3000 HD graphics card.
For normal usage: programming, writing, business, travel, school. This machine is a steal.
Great Battery life, blazingly fast. Above average speaker, if you're extremely picky on the audio experience, you can always buy a decent speaker from Walmart for under $30.
I haven't experienced overheating issues. However, over time, it does gets hotter may be after an hour to two hours, the laptop performance is unaffected though.
This is a really light, portable computer. I use it mainly for browsing the Internet, programming, business and school. Haven't had any problems with it so far.
I will update this review once I encounter any issues.
Bestbuy sells 57u for $529, and it was $479 a few days ago when they were still running weekly deals.
Hope this review helps your laptop shopping.
