Honest reviews on Hp Pavilion Dv7-4177nr Notebook Computer
I bought this item from Fry's Electronics March 16th 2011. I upgraded the RAM to 8GB. Sometimes it didn't wake up from sleep so you had to restart or yank on the battery until it comes out. I had the first HDD fail a week ago (that's not this computer's fault its the HDD manufacturing company). went back to Fry's they replaced it for free because I had a service plan with them. They re-installed windows and all that stuff. Guess what it runs fast but still doesn't wake up from sleep, I will see what i can do about return, or exchange. I really did like this PC, I dropped a SSD in for a week and it ran super fast but still waking up problems. i have all my drivers, firmware, and bios updated to the most current status. I wish me and this thing could of worked but I am incompatible with HP.UPDATE:05/14/12
I had it repaired at Fry's in Webster TX, the tech reps were kind except for one who wouldn't give my PC back and they replaced my dead HDD. However when I got it home and booted up next morning it worked fine. It wouldn't wake up from sleep again, I am bringing my review down to Two STARS, its not Amazon's or Fry's fault. ITS HP'S FAULT PLAIN AS DAY! I hate HP with a passion, always will, always have. This PC has good specs though (it just don't run like it should). I will update again, I am ready to get rid of this thing, I will try for the Lemon Law after this, I wish it wasn't like this, maybe I just got bad luck with HP.

I had taken it to Fry's again and they said that it would take six weeks to get to California and back for repairs.
It only took about four so I was happy. They replaced the motherboard, keyboard, wireless card, hard drive and even apart of the frame along with re-installng Windows 7 Home Premium. I haven't had time to test it out since pickup because I have been in New York and had a family member pick it up, Fry's and HP impressed me this time, but it might be in my future for another disappointing effort.
UPDATE: 7/31/12
It's official this is my last HP machine, just got back from NY and the laptop still has waking from sleep problems. Everthing else is running fine, its not a major problem that it can't wake from sleep sometimes, just a pain. I promise I will never accept an HP laptop, desktop, printer, monitor, or any other device with the HP name on it. I am sticking with my guns, ASUS and Aleinware. I called fry's in Webster texas store number 18 and let them know about the waking problem. The supervisor of all the tech slaves said that its probally just a cabling problem. I told him that he didnt understand the problem, if it is the secong motherboard than its a model problem. Good bye this machine will be for sale very soon, comment if you want this item from me I will gladly sale it to you....
