So I have had this computer for 24hrs and I don't think they could pry me away from it with a crowbar.

I have always loved acer computers because they are cheaper and have some amazing internals.

The Ivy Bridge i7 definitely packs a lot of speed, and the Nvidia Geforce GT 650M is a great accompanying graphics card.

Sadly, the 650M is the DDR3 version, not the GDDR5, but really there is only about a 6% difference between the two. So it doesn't bother me one bit. Especially for the price.

The keyboard is a nice style, and feels comfortable to use. A backlight would have been nice, but not necessary.

The speakers are pretty decent. Way better than acer's older models. Not quite as booming as the Dell XPS JBL speakers, but i'm not trying to run a rave, so they work well for me!

Pros:

Beautiful screen, amazing processor and video card, 4 RAM bays for easy expansion, nice keyboard, amazing price point.

Cons:

DDR3 video card instead of GDDR5 (not at all a huge deal) 6-cell battery (also not a huge deal since i can get over 2 and a half hours of really good performance watching videos and such) screen doesn't support 1920 x 1080 (1600 x 900 is really fine, just listing as something that COULD be improved)-NOTEthe graphics card CAN output at 1080p if hooked up to an external monitor or TV, but the screen itself cannot display that resolution.

Delivery and shipping:

I ordered next day shipping, and it really came next day. Amazingly fast shipping, for a cheap price. Sadly, the laptop had a manufacturer defect and was missing two keys on the keyboard (left arrow and the tab key) But Amazon quickly took care of that, ordered replacement laptop for me at no charge and expedited the shipping. So no qualms there.

Overall, I am extremely happy! I hope my review covered any questions anyone else might have had. Trust me, you will NOT be upset with this amazing laptop.

This is advertised (even with crucial.com scanner) as a max of 16GB RAM but the limitation is due to it being configured with Windows 7 Home Premium. If you upgrade to Pro or Ultimate you can use all 4 RAM slots for a total of 32GB if you wish. In addition it has 2 drive bays, only 1 carriage comes with it and Acer parts suppliers don't have the part in stock yet, was told mid July 2012. The included 750GB 5400 rpm drive is a bit slow when coupled with the rest of the machine. I dropped in a Seagate 750GB 7200 rpm and moved the factory drive over to the 2nd bay for storage. You can use the 2nd bay without the carriage, I folded a 1/2" piece of cardboard to wedge between the back of the drive and the case until I could get the factory carriage. This will keep it from backing out of the sata port.

Very happy with the purchase, I bought a 16GM RAM kit when I bought it and just added the included 6GB, running 7 Ultimate. I use Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 for my photography business and am very happy with the batch processing in Lightroom and the speed which Photoshop makes adjustments.

Still need to calibrate display with a Spider but even using the free calibrize produces colors very close to print.

Best Deals for Acer Aspire V3-771G-9875 17.3-Inch Laptop (Midnight Black)

Was one of the lucky ones who managed to buy this wonderful laptop the day before they sold out and I must say, for the price you get a ton of value that I even being in the computer industry for so long couldn't even believe. From the moment I turned the laptop on, to pressing on it's keys, this laptop is definitely made with us the customer in mind. The only reason I am giving it four stars is because of a little bait and switch that I wasn't too happy with where the processor speed was advertised at 3.3 ghz but found out that stock speeds on this machine is 2.3ghz with the ability to reach 3.3ghz if needed through applications. I thought I was getting 3.3ghz right at stock, but that's only minor. The LED LCD Screen is bright and clear as ever, and watching movies on it are a total charm. Overall, best laptop I've ever owned.

Pros:

Speed, clear bright big screen, video card is top of the line, and I hear it's easily upgradeable in the ram department.

Cons: So far not many except for the processor being advertised at 3.3ghz but only coming with 2.3ghz with the OPTION of 3.3ghz if the PC needs it. Kind of like an automatic turbo boost.

Honest reviews on Acer Aspire V3-771G-9875 17.3-Inch Laptop (Midnight Black)

Given the specs on this computer and the very affordable price, this Acer is easily the best bargain for a performance laptop that I have seen. It's a very powerful computer that can run resource-intensive software easily, such as the latest generation of computer games or video and graphic editing software. The large 17-inch screen brilliantly displays radiant colors. In addition to the great internal hardware and the screen, the computer has a sleek, shiny external appearance. The combination of great internals, a fantastic external display, and the very reasonable price makes this computer a must-consider for anyone searching for an affordable, high-end performance laptop. I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend it.

I bought the 2.2 Ghz Sandy Bridge version of this laptop at this price a year ago. I still love it. The only "caveat" I would pass along involve the keys do NOT try to remove a key for any reason! I had something (like a crumb, grain of sand, I dunno) get underneath a key and it was annoying. I've had possibly hundreds of keyboards in the past, so I thought it would be a simple matter to pop off the key, remove the offending article, and put the key back on. WRONG!! I never could get it back on properly. It's not Acer's fault, but I sure wish I had known this before I tried it. :)
