I got this laptop about a month ago, I use it every single day I even play a very popular MMORPG made by Blizzard on this laptop at maximum video graphics and the game runs smoothly no lag and my frame rates are still great. It's fast and I can use several programs simutaneously without any hiccups. It does get rather hot so I would recommend a nice cooling tray to place underneath it to protect your legs if you use it like I do curled up on the couch or in bed :)
Watching Netflix on it has great picture and sound..I am very happy with my purchase, for the cost it is a wonderful laptop.

I bought this Acer laptop on February 13, 2012, and it's still running fine today with no real issues. I love Windows 7, and this computer does everything I need as far as using Photoshop and different multimedia tools, but it's a poorly built machine.I needed (or thought I needed) a more powerful computer because my WiFi wasn't working well on my old HP laptop while I was covering basketball games. I also thought I might be able to play video games on this laptop due to the 1 GB of Video Ram. My old Intel Celeron M chip HP, however, had a much better screen, far better sound quality, and better heat dissipation than this Acer.
If you try to watch a DVD you'll need to get some speakers, you'll need to turn the screen brightness down all the way most likely, and you'll need a cooler to help with the heat. Same thing with a video game. It's a great computer for homework, or editing, but not a great multimedia or graphics intensive solution. You can game on it, but it feels dirty (I mostly game on a desktop, anyhow, and just wanted a laptop I could use in a pinch for my MMOs, etc.).
Next time I'll look into buying another HP laptop.

To "zezty", you are a total fool. First off this laptop run miles around your mac book. You need to install Silverlight and update the codec. This is basic knowledge if you want to play anything but .avi or .mov. The same reason you need to download an "app" for your phone.Next off "laptop that has less video and processing power than my mobile phone" Sorry, but you really lost your credibly and seems you are just a Mac lover? Nobody in their right mind would compare a cell phone ghz to a computer. If a cell phone is that strong, they would be running Window or Mac OS fully with no issue and do everything a PC can. Even play the newest games like Call of Duty.
"running a DVD in anything but 480i" are you kidding us? If people want to watch HD movie, they would buy Blu Ray media. Sure you can download and convert 720p onto a disk DVD, but nobody goes and "buy" it. Reason is DVD are NOT HD. Your logical is the same as "Do not buy this VHS, It is unable to play 1080p"
