I have owned my Dell Laptop for a year and have no complaints. It can get pretty warm with graphic intense games, but so did my old laptop, which would freeze up every few minutes. My favorite features are the backlit keyboard and slot-load DVD drive. I miss the plethora of USB slots, and prefered the earphone jacks up front, instead of on the side, as they are on the XPS. The screen makes movie-watching fun. I carry it to work almost daily and reccomend a case of substance as it feels quite heavy. Probably not a good idea for a travel laptop; it is billed as a desktop replacement, but it works well for me on the go.

Specifications list a high-end "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430 graphics (2040 MB total shared)". NOT. The product only has the low-end "Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family". BURNED.

Indeed, a search on Sony's website confirms this.

As such, it is certainly not powerful enough for gaming, and probably not powerful enough for the Blue-Ray player included. In any event, the advertisement is false advertisement. Buyer beware.

I ordered this laptop as a replacement/upgrade to my old one. I haven't found anything either wrong with it or not as described. I actually shortly after, bought a similar laptop (VGN-NS150J) for my mom as a present. Amazon had the best price I could find and free shipping was decently fast. No complaints. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

For the price this laptop offers, it's a pretty good deal. Be Sure that when you do get it you know what it's for.

The video card is by far the systems downfall, it's (as an early reviewer said) an intel 4 family video card so those looking to any high end or recent gaming might be looking elsewhere, a gaming laptop with this display size at this price doesn't exist. That being said, it still plays games like WoW on lower (not lowest, but lower) settings and it can be enjoyed comfortably. Any game circa 2004 will run fine, but you shouldn't be expecting much from an on-board video card (also I stress that laptop video card upgrades typically are impossible)

The Machine does have a Blu Ray drive and I'm sure Sony is more than interested in you watching their new format on it, and to be honest despite the max resolution of 1280x800 the Blu Rays really shine, they look gorgeous and clean ... the problem is there is no DVI ouput just VGA which means you will be watching them on the laptop and nothing else if you want to enjoy your Blu Ray. I have a PS3 though, for home use. Still, it's nice when you go on a trip and need to take your favorite high def movie along. Despite the weaker card the computer still makes Blu Ray look good, an earlier review speculated it wouldn't be possible but it is. It looks fine.

The design of the computer is really nice, the body of the computer is textured almost like cloth giving it a comfortable feel. I have one friend who bizarrely enough will rub my computer when he sees it I have to admit it is rather nice feeling. Sony has always had a nice design aesthetic and it shows here, with a nice looking, well laid out keyboard, and solid feeling construction. The shape and feel of the laptop really has that sleek minimalist feel that many companies today seem to be going for. Which is simply because it makes the machine look good, I dunno what else to say there.

The computer isn't without its flaws, however. For starters Sony includes an incredibly large amount of software with the computer. Some programs are useful, but largely they waste your space with some very insulting programs, like a wireless setup wizard that takes you to the default windows one, no one needs to waste space on such asinine programs. Vaio update, alternately, seems useless until you discover their drivers are edited for the laptop so you have to go through them. Another bizarre decision on Sony's part.

In conclusion if you're a person who wants a computer that isn't embarassingly ugly with a sleek classy minimalist design, and wants good performance in a mid-priced laptop, this very well could be for you. If you're looking to do heavy high-end gaming or need your first Blu Ray player there are better ways to spend your money for both of those.

Hope this helps and answers any questions anyone has.

I received a used Latitude D820 recently and have been very pleased with its performance. The battery life is good, the performance has been robust and responsive. The only thing I find missing on this computer is a webcam. The speakers are a little tinny, but with headphones the sound is great. I like the nice large screen too! Enjoying my Latitude D820!

This machine is extremely durable. Despite what others might say about it running apps slowly, they don't know how to manage their OS. This machine can run any application, including Adobe Creative Suite apps well. Sure, it's not the fastest thing on the market, but it's a 2.0 dual core CPU, it's a great deal, and for any student/office person trying to save money while still getting things done, it's a great buy. The hardware holds up great, and don't let others tell you it's slow because of how they treat their OS.

The only downsize was the battery is nearing the end of it's life, so I will have to buy a new battery. But, overall this computer gave me exactly what I was looking for. It was handled and packaged neatly. No damage, and in good shape for a used computer!!

This is a great laptop, solid, easy to use, I like that it locks when closed. I didn't find it to be slow as others have said. The keyboard keys are slightly raised, which I liked. The only minor things I didn't like was no numbers pad, so I had to use the numbers across the top, it's a very HEAVY laptop, but worst of all, the battery life was really bad. Two hours max, and it wasn't just my battery, I ordered a backup and it was the same way.

The laptop works okay. It is a little slow and the display fonts are very small. Was able to enlarge them some. Since it is an older laptop you can't expect "like new" and you don't get it. For what I purchased it for which was occasional travel use for a particular purpose, it works fine. Arrived well packaged and you get what you pay for.

Nice laptop. Much better value compared to the Samsung for $200++ more expensive.

And compared my sister's Toshiba 14" touch i5, this laptop serve me almost the same speed...

I'm glad I save my $100 for other accessories.

I like this laptop. It comes with DVD and touch screen. It is a bit slow and I'm not sure if it accept 3d dads or not . I like it very much and it works for me. I had to start all over again with the window 8 and frankly I don't like some of its apps like Netflex. so I uninstalled the app and just use a short cut of it. If I had to decide to buy it again I would have bought this item again. Since I use it mostely for the media, I'm not that much concern about the slowness of it. The memory is adequate however if I knew how I would have increased it to the max. I have not yet figured out how t0 Video /call with it but I'll try to learn. BUT you need to know that it is not Google friendly and I have not been able to link my apps from Google to this laptop.

I'd first like to mention that I didn't purchase this laptop on Amazon; I bought it on eBay, brand new, in box for $500. Totally worth it. I'm upgrading from an old Toshiba Satellite from 2009 and honestly this laptop isn't all that bad. It took me maybe two hours to get used to Windows 8, although I'm sure there's some things I haven't learned yet. I only use the touchscreen when I'm on the start screen, but it's still a cool feature. The keypad and keyboard is very responsive, it's fast, it's quiet and eco-friendly. I honestly haven't dealt with any big glitches. It's running very smooth for me. However, every now and then when I'm on a page such as Chrome, I'll barely swipe the keypad and it'll switch over to like iTunes. That's the only real issue I've dealt with. I've only had this laptop for a day so I haven't been able to really test out the battery life. I'll try and update this review in about a month.

Update (October 8, 2013):

So, I've this laptop for2 months and it still works perfectly! My computer boots up in less than 5 seconds, everything is still smooth, my laptop is still quiet. I figured out reason why it swiped from like Chrome to iTunes and I just went to settings and fixed that issue. The battery still lasts a good while; I'm rarely on the Start screen but when I am I don't ever have any problems. Everything still works perfectly. Thanks Toshiba!

I just got this notebook to send off to college with my daughter. I've been in the computer business for over 35 years, and this is one of the best PC notebooks I've ever had (I'd give it 5 stars, but it is not a Mac Book my daughter prefers Windows).

But I have owned a bunch of PC notebooks over the years, including several other HPs, and this is the best PC notebook I've ever owned a really excellent mix of size, performance, and style. Aside from its technical specs, it really is attractive for a notebook way to go HP design team!

My daughter is very fussy about keyboards and trackpads, and to win her approval is a huge endorsement. I've been watching the ads for PC notebooks knowing college starts this fall, and this HP dm4 really caught my eye. I'd been considering the 8 hour ASUS machines, but this 6 hour HP was enough better in other specs to seal the deal. For a PC, the claimed 6+ hours (over 4 in reality) is way better than almost any other PC notebook (although Mac Books are much better).

Compared to most other PC notebooks, this one wins because: very light (other reviews say it is one of the very lightest 14" notebooks), fast (Intel i5 mobile, not just an i3), 4Gigs RAM, 500Gig hard drive (and 7200rpm, not 5400!), fingerprint scanner (and it really works well and seamlessly encourages good security), bluetooth, WiFi N, HDMI + VGA, eSATA, Windows 7 64-bit, great battery life, great size and weight. Just right mix. (Just a note it uses shared graphics, just fine for anyone except hard core gamers probably improves battery life.)

SUMMARY: A great balance of price, performance, and style. Should easily last four years of college.

PROS: Size, weight, style, CPU performance, fingerprint scanner, memory

CONS: screen size (beautiful LED display, but at 768 pixels high, a bit low wish it were 900), really loaded with crapware (but that is typical of almost any PC notebook today, especially HP check out pc decrapifier)

I am a power PC user, having built many desktop and server machines, and used numerous portables and laptops, over the past thirty years. After having done extensive research for an i5 based laptop, I am convinced that this relatively new HP offering is one of the best computer purchases that I have ever made.

Notable Pros:

Widescreen 14" LED display is quite bright and crisp at 1366x768 optimal resolution. Yes, it is glossy and reflects a lot of light. It is not what I would want for doing extensive Photoshop processing but I have my desktop display for that. This display is fine for a lightweight laptop and is a pleasure to view and use. HP is wise to push the 14" LED as an alternative to the widescreen 15.6" and 17" LCDs that seem to be most prevalent these days. It ultimately allows for significantly easier handling, lighter weight and less power consumption. I personally believe that this form factor is going to become much more popular in the coming months.

Fast 500GB 7200 rpm hard disk, 4GB DDR3 memory (two slots, maximum of 8GB allowed), and i5-430M processor, optimized for laptop use, all provide for a very satisfactory Windows 7 user experience. The machine "feels" quite snappy. And I am coming from a Thinkpad T61 Core 2 Duo T7100 running Windows 7 that is not exactly a slouch.

Battery life (realistic) is about 5 hours. Yes, you can go with an i7 and dedicated graphics and a huge 17" display but you will pay for it with greatly diminished battery life (maybe 2-3 hours at most). I believe that HP has found a nice power sweetspot with respect to this hardware combination.

Plenty of ports, including 3 USB, 1 eSata, 1 VGA, 1 HDMI as well as 5-1 multicard reader and an integrated fingerprint reader that actually works pretty well.

Notable Cons:

The HP Trackpad. I found it to be a real pain to use for any extensive work involving a lot of highlighting and scrolling. It seems at times to have a mind of its own. I am not sure whether the issue is the hardware or the Windows 7 driver, but in any case, you will want an alternative. In my case, I went with the Microsoft Mobile Mouse. It is small, unobtrusive, and can be used on almost any surface. It does not require line of sight to the USB receiver. Some others might not find this acceptable, but it works for me. Let me put it this way. If you must have a trackpad to do a lot of highlighting and scrolling, this is not the machine for you. I personally can put up with the flaw with my "fix" because I genuinely like almost everything else about the machine.

HP crapware. It is, well, crap. Mostly veiled advertisements and software trials that actually add very little for most users. Furthermore, it is quite extensive and serves to slow down the boot time and the overall responsiveness of the machine. I got rid of it, but only after 90 minutes of painstaking uninstalling of individual programs. HP does a real disservice to a large subset of its customers by loading this software and not providing an easier way of minimizing or eliminating it.

But all in all, I think this laptop is a winner. It has a critical flaw in the trackpad, but for most users it is easily surmounted. There is good competition out there. The Asus U30 and Samsung R580 are fine machines and might even have slightly better price points depending on which day it is. But I do not think they are superior to the HP overall. I also considered HP's very good reputation and ubiquity in the laptop market as well as the likely availability of accessories down the line. Most importantly this particular HP represents a fine piece of engineering at a nice price point. I expect it will be a real winner for them.

Best Deals for HP Pavilion dm4-1060us 14.1-Inch Laptop

Pros: This is an excellent laptop! It is very classy looking and well built. I'm not sure if the people that say the touchpad is awful are people that are just not used to this kind of touchpad or maybe they have received a bad unit but it is by far the best click pad out of anyone out there and has a satisfying right and left click. It is obviously not as simple to use as a regular touchpad, but once you get the idea of how to use it, it works great. Also, they just released a new firmware/software update for the touchpad that might be what is helping out. Overall, the laptop is actually lighter than I thought it would be. The 14" screen is an absolute perfect size. I was all about 13.3" screens before this, but the extra .7" helps out in screen real estate as well as making enough room for the case to hold a full DVD multi drive w/o adding a ton of bulk. Nice touches such as polished metal edges to the keyboard and touchpad surround. The dedicated multimedia keys are also convenient.

Cons: None really. While a regular touchpad might be easier to use for some, I actually prefer it, as for me it works flawlessly.

Other Thoughts: The metal construction is very nice with etched patterns that are actually not as noticeable or bad looking like I though they might be. I have heard comments that say that they think the laptop is pink. I can thankfully say that it is not pink, it is a bronze metal color that shows up in dim light, unless you think bronze is pink. In bright light the color is more of a silver color. It is also sufficiently thin with tapered edges that actually make it seem even thinner than it is. The keyboard is also very comfortable to use. The best thing about it is that the battery is fully enclosed in the case and does not stick out at all! Batteries that protrude out had been a common design and I am very happy that with this laptop the battery is flush with the bottom. I spent a long time looking for a laptop for myself and am absolutely happy with my decision to go with this one. I recommend that anyone looking for a great looking laptop with a ton of power to definitely check this one out!

Honest reviews on HP Pavilion dm4-1060us 14.1-Inch Laptop

**Sorry, the beginning of this is more like an HP vs Macbook comparison, skip down for the review of the actual product!**

I've owned this laptop for a little more than a week now and I thought it was my turn to write a review on it since the reviews really sold me on getting it. But first let me tell you that I was really trying to decide between this laptop, a Samsung R580, and a Macbook.

The Samsung was out of the question as soon as I started to do my homework: it had Blu-Ray and nice, little features but apparently its battery life sucked something awful. So it was up to the Macbook (any, really) and this HP. I started to do comparisons and this HP just wins on paper. Compared to the cheapest Macbook this computer has twice the hard drive space, twice the ram, a little bigger screen (13" vs 14"), an HDMI port (which was actually a huge factor for me personally), Intel's Core i5 instead of Core Two Duo, and I think it looks nicer than the white Macbook. I do concede that the Macbook has an Intel HD graphics card along with an ATI graphics card which most likely comes in handy when working on Photoshop or video editing, but I've done that so far and the Intel HD alone has not disappointed me. Though, those back-lit keys and big track pad do look great.

So what it came down to was battery life. HP's advertised 6.5 hours is a huge joke so I figured I'd cut that down in half to get actual battery life and it rings true; Mac's advertised 10 hours did appeal to me since I commute to my university but the ends did not justify the means for me. I got this laptop on sale at Office Depot for $780 after taxes and a $50 mail-in rebate (which basically just reimburses me the taxes) and am getting more bang for my buck then I would be getting with the Macbook. And if I were to look at a Macbook that was comparable to this HP, hardware-wise, I would have spent an extra $1,000! That's just not in my budget especially as a poor college student. People have continued to tell me that "Macs are great, they don't get viruses, they're so simple, they just work..." but I've used Windows all my life and I've never had a virus problem--if you're relatively intelligent this shouldn't be a problem which it isn't for me, Windows 7 is beautiful and awesome, and I don't think it's "too hard" to use. And as someone who always gets buyer's remorse, and did so after purchasing this laptop thinking maybe I should have splurged for a Macbook, I am more than satisfied with this computer. It's fantastic! But on to the review of the actual product...

---

When I was getting this product, I thought I was buying its brother, the HP dm4-1065dx, when I got home I realized it was this model and panicked... I didn't understand, I knew the specs and reviewed them before the purchase at the store--what happened!? Then I compared the specs online. Want to know the difference? This model has Bluetooth, the other doesn't, and for less money. I don't know why they're two different models but they are.

I have nothing bad to say about this computer at least practically! I do have this weird OCD thing where I think it looks purple under some light, some people agree with me, some people just think I'm obsessive... which I am. The design is beautiful, the keyboard is amazing, the track pad is also just great. I know some people had issues with the track pad but they must have released some updates because absolutely no complaints here. I even love the fingerprint reader, which has come in handy to log into the computer quickly!

The screen looks *beautiful*, some think the resolution might be too small at 720p but come on, this thing is beautiful. I stated earlier that HDMI ports are important to me, which they are. Connecting this to my LG 1080p HDTV has been a great experience especially using Boxee or watching HD YouTube videos... it's just eye-popping(ly) fantastic. I'm in love.

The Core i5 processor is handy too. I had a 3 year old AMD processor before this and wow, everything is so snappy from opening applications and web browsers, to just downloading music, syncing MP3 players, streaming video is a breeze.

The look of the computer is great, too. I already stated my purple vice, but besides that the etched airbrushed metal looks good and gives it a certain edge some college students might want. I *love* the keyboard, it's fantastic, especially since I went from a 15.6" screen laptop to a 14" one, I thought this would be too small but it's perfect. And at 4.4lbs, battery included, commuting to and from school (on the bus) has been hassle-free, provided you get the right backpack (I recommend Belkin's Core Laptop Backpack).

I would say that booting time really serves to its detriment. Not after the login screen, if you get rid of the software it comes with this should be a breeze, but staring at that Windows logo for so long can get a kid impatient. Battery life isn't as advertised but it's not low, either. I couldn't tell you exactly how long it lasts because I don't have an accurate description of it using BatteryBar (it fluctuates times, I need to use it more) but it's definitely long enough for me. Today, I turned it on around 7:30am put it in sleep from 7:50-9:10am, then used it from 9:10-10:30am but not as intense after 10, then sleep again, then turned it on and used it from about 4-6:30pm. I know that's kind of confusing but by 6:30 I was around 10% battery and the thing shuts off at 6%, I don't know why. That's typical use for me as someone who commutes and such, I bring my charger but never really need it. All on dimmest screen setting and power saver mode with WiFi and surfing the Internet.

Okay, this is becoming a novel, so I'll just say: I'm glad I purchased this computer and am in love with all it can do.

PROS: Screen, design, keyboard, track pad, swiftness, how cool it runs especially on power saver mode, the webcam is actually fantastic as far as webcams go

CONS: Battery life isn't as advertised but it's still great, the purple thing, boot up time is horrendous, I can't think of more.

I love this laptop! Not only is it chic and slender, it is durable and easily packed for travel. Many users need a little time to get used to the touchpad, but the adjustment period is very short.

This light, slender laptop has a 14" screen which is a very reasonable size. I like the metal frame surrounding the keypad and touchpad as that enhances their appearance. The battery is tucked away inside so it is not readily visible. Cosmetics notwithstanding, this is still an excellent computer and it has multimedia keys as an added good feature.

If you need a good bag to transport this computer, I recommend Caselogic ZLC-116 Professional 16-Inch Laptop Case (Black) as this is a very durable bag that is neither cumbersome nor heavy. You can also pack 2 laptops in it!

In short, I love this computer. It requires a smooth, gentle touch and users can "jump onto the saddle" quite easily. The edges are slightly rounded.

If you are looking for a high quality laptop, then you seriously want to consider this one.

This laptop is a great value. Fast, dependable, easy to set up. The screen is bright and clear. The only minor complaint is that I don't care too much for the touch pad: it is a bit hard to click. That is easily fixed by adding a USB mouse. I have been running this laptop for about a month now and am very pleased.

I am extremely happy with the computer itself. It is a great deal for the money, well made, light, and fast. I would have rated it 5 stars except for the garbage MacAphee software that came preinstalled on the computer. This software caused me not to be able to access many internet sites, including my Fidelity account and Netlix.

It would also not allow me to uninstall the program. After some extensive searching on Google I found I needed to go to the MacAphee website to dowload their software to uninstall the software that Acer preinstalled on my computer! This was a big hassle, and one that could have been much bigger if I had no technical background.

I recommend uninstalling that garbage, by accessing their website, and dowloading the unistallation software, then downloading a free anti-virus program from the Microsoft Website.

Best Deals for AS5742Z-4601 - Intel - Pentium - P6100 - 2 Ghz - DDR3 Sdram - Ram:

the laptop works great and gets around 4 hours on a charge. you can double or triple that by buying an extra battery which will cost around $100. memory is only $10/GB for this model so if it starts going slow there's a cheap fix. make sure you get a protective sleeve for it or put a pad around your desk because if you drop it, it will cost $200 for acer to fix it. (drops are not part of the warranty).

the textured surfaces look very nice and the hdmi output is rare for a laptop and allows output of HD media to a TV with HDMI input. the display is 1st rate the weight is very reasonable. really, a terrific value.

if you like the feel of this keyboard i would recommend it. the microprocessor performance is equivalent to a slow intel i3 but uses a bit more power. i recommend you go to to compare microprocessor performance. there are so many options. some are a bargains. some are not.

Ok, let me first start off by saying... I did not order this product from Amazon. I bought mine at Radioshack and got the warranty-which I've not had to use. Also, mine I believe is slightly different than this one. Maybe it's just my lack of computer specs knowledge, but mine says "3 GB DDR3". If it's the same, great, if not, I'm going to continue to write this review because everything else is the same.

What I use my laptop for:

-Web surfing

-Checking e-mail

-Facebook

-FFXI online

-Documents

-Pictures

I am able to run FFXI in window mode and still pull up youtube at the same time. I have had FFXI windower, youtube, facebook, and google open at the same time. I wouldn't recommend anymore than that though or else it starts to get laggy. Also please note, the internet speed itself will vary and cause lag if it's not a strong internet connection. So if you experience lag on this computer from simple things, check the internet connection first.

Now.. while that is impressive, the reason I'm giving this computer a 5 star rating other than what it can do is because what I've done to it.

What I've done to the laptop:

-Dropped it from multiple heights, multiple times. One of which the keyboard fell out of the actual computer itself. I was able to pop it back into place and after a few minutes, it worked.

-Managed to get a virus and had to do a system reboot. Which, if anyone needs to know, with this laptop/brand, if you cannot boot windows; at the start up of your laptop, hit ALT F10 to start the reboot, as this unit does not come with a reboot disc. Sometimes you will need to do this 3 times before it takes. Meaning restarting your computer, not hitting the key combo 3 times during the same reboot process.

-Accidentally sat it in a puddle of water. Due to playing music while cleaningnot dropping it in the toilet or throwing it in the shower... so don't do that.

-Short in the battery charger wire due to my own wear and tear... that nearly caught fire.

So all in all, this is an awesome laptop for the money. The screen has not busted from all of my banging and dropping. The only things I've noticed from the falls; the microphone is a little sensitive to loud sounds, the speakers don't work like they once did but you are still able to hear everything, and the keys sometimes act funny.. but then again, anything would act funny after basically losing its guts. The point is.. electronics go to my house to die, and so far, this has been the cheapest and most sturdy electronic that I still have not managed to kill. It has even outlasted my HP $950 laptop.

First, let me point out by saying that I absolutely hate the wifi on this laptop. The signal is so poor and the connectivity to my router is nearly non-existant unless I'm within 10 feet of it! Apparently, the lower end Lenovo laptops made within the last year are suffering from wifi connectivity problems, all of them, not just this one. I had the manager at Fr y s, electronics test out three other laptops and they all had the identical signal problem while the HP laptop we had right next to them connected to the router without issue. This laptop's wifi is unusable and I believe half of the reason is that for some reason, Lenovo decided to offer this laptop with two Wifi Antenna configurations. Most laptops with integrated Wifi have the antennas placed at the top of the screen for best Wifi signal but on this laptop, and many others, they're selling it with the antenna placed in the base. You can test for this by lifting a laptop off the table when using it and see if the signal improves.

But not withstanding the Wifi problems and the trackpad that easily makes itself looked aged about three years within the first 10 minutes of usage, I have to say I really like the laptop. The sound quality is very good, the processor and video performance is excellent, I like that the GPU provides acceleration to firefox to make web pages load faster, the flash video acceleration makes 1080p videos playback with low CPU usage (useful if hooked up to tv) I like the many adjustments available for the fan speed/noise control, I like how the laptop feels sturdy, the keyboard is excellent to type on, the screen is decent though I'd prefer one with a higher resolution like 1920X1200.

I also like that despite what Lenovo says, the laptop actually supports 16GB of memory, just like AMD's chipset specifications imply. (I know because I installed 16GB of ram without a hitch!)

I paid $480 for this laptop making it a very very good deal but because this laptop is for a friend who plans to use the laptop exclusively on WiFi, even at this price point, this is a dealbreaker. Using an External Wifi USB was of no help either as the signal was much worse than what the laptop came with. I have 8 year old laptops that provide much more usable WiFi signal and connectivity than this laptop. I hate to give this laptop back as it was on sale despite just being released but unless lenovo offers a repair for the poor wifi, it looks like its my only choice.

This is the perfect laptop for my needs! The video card & CPU speed let me use it for gaming, and the full-size keyboard is as comfortable to use as a desktop.

I have been using this laptop for a month now. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the performance. I did add another 4gb of ram and replaced the hard drive to a faster 7200rpm one.

The screen if very clear, the matte-ish finish is great in reducing reflections. The built quality is pretty good, the laptop doesn't feel solid though, it does flex, apparently sony claims this is better against damage.

The mouse button is LOUD. So I tend to tap on the touchpad instead.

Battery: if I put everything in speed-high performance, it'll last may be 2 hours. on stamina-balance mode around 4 hours. So nothing spectacular.

The fan is located at the middle back right below the screen, which seems awkward with the screen open because it is blocked partially. So putting it flat on a sofa or bed will result in that part being very hot. The fan is quiet under normal operation, but when it is on full blast it's extremely loud.

The camera comes with this Magic-i software that have quite a few adjustments, which gets very confusing when I was trying to fiddle with it to get the image right that I just gave up.

The speakers are horrible at sound production. Even worse, the headphones volume (with both my Beats and Bose headphones) stays pretty low if it's below 50%, I usually set it to 75% just to hear music.

UPDATE:5/29/12

The built in webcam stopped working for me a few days ago. Couldn't reach Sony support because it was memorial day weekend. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling it in the device manager and that didn't work. Today I went on Sony support website and update the AMD Radeon graphics card driver and lo and behold after the comp restarts, the webcam works again.
