Best Buy Refurb for about $650 USD

2 reference units (mine and my girlfriend's)

I really don't know what other reviewers in other places were talking about.

If you do a Google search for vpceg37fm/w, one will find

ridiculously great reviews. I have to agree!!! Both units are

especially quiet. There is barely a fan noise and the hard

drives were also very quiet. A HUGE PLUS is that this machine is

cool cool cool. I cannot stress this point enough!!! When i'm

layin on the couch and i have this machine laying on my persons

there is virtually NO heat. Whether i have it on battery or AC,

you can burn DVDs, do hdmi out, virus scan, whatever, and you

can barely feel heat anywhere on the underside. The heat vent on

the left side does a great job pulling heat out of the system...

From the reviews on Sony's website, I think that the refurbs

might have had replacement fans or shoddy heat~sink/compound

issues. Thankfully for our Vaios this is not the case.

Now here is the especially awesome part: My co-worker has a 13

inch Mac book Pro of about the same vintage. They asked me to

Boot Camp their Mac. (That means dual boot mac and another OS on

their mac machine.) As i installed the drivers for the Windows

setup, my jaw dropped to the floor. Virtually all the drivers

needed were for EXACTLY the same components that are in this

machine!!! The little MBP 13 inch which has a lower screen

resolution was hot enough to cook eggs on. Keep in mind that the

MBP in question had close to equal processors and the same

graphics chip #Intel HD 3000# which is embedded on the CPU.

I had to geek it up a bit, so I invested in 2x4gb PNY generic

memory. (Stock it had a 1x 4gb stick) and added a 120 GB intel

SATA 2 solid state drive. I was able to get my windows

experience score from 4.7 to 6.2. In comparison, another co-

worker gave me their HP dv 6T Beats Audio edition 17 inch laptop

to ensure it was ready for prime time dvd video burning. This

was fresh out of the box. The Windows Experiencee Index scored

the machine with a 5.2. This was a second gen sandybridge I7

beast, bested by the little 'old second gen I5 Vaio.

As for the audio, this Vaio has mediocre speakers. Make sure you

get the latest and greatest drivers FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF THE

COMPONENT. This goes for the audio, video, chipset and network

drivers. If you update your drivers from Sony or Microsoft, you

wont get the best. This is especially helpfull for the subpar

speakers ~ the new audio drivers greatly improve loudness of the

audio.

Other side notes are that if you be a nerd, this vaio does

support virtualization @ the bios level! Installed memory is

samsung, and they know memory chips. Battery life is on par with

the comparible mac as well. The diamond~plate design of the

plastic is great, no smudges! Chicklet keyboard is great, nice

travel on the keys and spacing is good. The dv 6 mentioned has a

chicklet as well, but the travel and spacing of the keys is

nowhere near as nice. HDMI output to a samsung 40 inch tv is

just a matter of plugging it in and hitting the hdmi button on

the tv's remote.

If you decide to upgrade to an SSD configuration, i'd reccomend

an intel. The example unit I chose was an SSDSA2CW120G3. The

retail package comes with an SATA to 2x usb dongle and a

silicone slip cover. You take out the old drive, pop in the new

drive... VOILA! you now can put the cavernous 650 gb original

drive in the silocone slip and you have an instant portable

drive. You might want to spend the 15 bucks or so on amazon and

get an aluminum enclosure though.

All and all this machine has made my fellow nerds give thumbs up

for this investment... To buy 2 of these and be on par if not

better than a spec-wise comparible Macbook Pro is gratifying.

I apologize for any typos and gramatical errors in advance.

Leave some positive comments for this machine. The cheap compaq

cq60-215DX that it replaced had served well for 3+ years, and

was junk... I think i should get about 6+ years out of this

machine, easily.

Cheers!

I bought two of these VAIOs, one in pink and one in white. October 11, 2011, I bought the white one from BestBuy. I thought that for the price of this laptop and Sony's reputation, that I should not have to buy the extended plan. (Wrong!!) I have an older cheaper uglier laptop that is a Sony VAIO and it is still truckin along. So I guess 2 out of 3 Sony VAIO laptops that still work is pretty good. Not so, the laptop's motherboard should last over two years and I will not buy Sony again. I have had the same inconsistencies with Sony products in the past, i.e, televisions and cameras. But that was such a long time ago. I thought things had gotten better since my mother's VAIO desktop is a trooper and never caused a problem,

But I am a girl and the laptop was too pretty to resist. I will know better to look beyond the package for my next purchase.

Is there a laptop manufacturer that puts out a product that is consistent with little maintenance required except for the usual updates that will last at least 5 years without problems?

The laptop has a sleek look to it and if looks were everything, I would give this laptop a 5 star. The only flaw I see in the design is the DVD placement. If you sit with this laptop on your lap, the CD Rom will continually pop open.

I loved the laptop while it lasted. Next time, I will buy a cheaper brand with an extended warranty. :( RIP my beautiful laptop...Now to shop for an ugly, but stable laptop.

REVISION: I've now had this computer for 5 months and I'd like to revise my earlier review. The notebook was fantastic until the power supply issues began. I've RMA'd the product back to Asus. However, they've had it for more than 3 weeks and are still waiting for parts. I can't imagine why they don't have parts on hand for a computer this recently manufactured. When I looked for a way to contact the company about my frustration at how long it's taking to get my computer returned, I realize that no addresses or "contact us" types of information is supplied on their unbelievably BAD website. When I call the customer service number given me with my RMA information, I am assured that they'll fix it as fast as they can, but the customer service reps won't give me an address, or connect me to a higher up so I can figure out what the hold-up is or how to get a replacement. I'm deeply disappointed in Asus--they were reputed to have the highest quality laptops () and very high customer service. Yet I'm reduced to venting about my unhappiness with them and their lousy product at Amazon!

First impression review: Having very limited funds and a need for a solid laptop to last a few years, I did a lot of research into the best laptop for the money. I needed something quick and nimble to run various programs for animating and design work, and something utterly reliable, because I'm taking distance classes right now. I needed something that would still be versatile and functional 3 years from now, because I don't buy these things like potato chips. This computer fulfills all of those requirements beautifully. Perhaps anything would have been better than my 3 year old HP laptop, but the Asus seems especially quick--.pdf files open so fast I have to wonder about the laws of physics. It stays pretty cool. Vista wasn't even as bad as expected--though I appreciate the free Windows 7 trade-in.

Only one real problem: If you ever want to listen to anything without using headphones, forget it. I didn't take the warnings about lousy speakers seriously, and then I tried to watch a DVD with my kid on this thing. Simply COULD NOT be done--neither of us could hear, even with no background noise. Get external speakers! The only other problem I have had is that Vista installed funky at first and kept saying it was an unverified copy. I couldn't access the wireless network. After a websearch using a different computer, I found a quick fix and have had no other problems, crashes or freezes.

I purchased my Asus from the the Amazon seller J&R Music & Computer World, where it was dramatically discounted. It was actually so discounted that I was a little worried that they would send me the wrong model--that they must have made a mistake! No mistake, everything is correct. Moreover, they did a FANTASTIC job of packing and shipping. It think the computer itself was packed in something like 6 nested boxes, which may concern one on an environmental level, but I believe nuclear waste would have come through the mail safely in their packaging.

Update, 6/17/2010

The repaired computer continues to work great. My wife is very happy with it.

####

It turned out that the Nvidia 240M was bad on my unit. Used ASUS support to send my laptop in for service. ASUS sent me a FedEx label, so shipping was free. They repaired my unit and sent it back to me. Took a little over a week to get it back.

With Windows Vista 32 bit, it got a windows experience rating of 5.6. I installed a 500 GB hard disk, and installed Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. It now gets a Windows experience rating of 6.4, better than my wife's AMD Athlon 64 6000+ based desktop machine.

Very happy with the laptop now.

Chris

> I cannot complete the 'Windows Experience Rating' without having the Nvidia display driver crap out and be restarted. I end up with a Windows Experience rating of two, > because of the lousy display driver. I've tried the version of the drivers supplied on the install disk, the versions of the graphics and sound drivers from the ASUS support > website, and the latest drivers from the NVidia website.

>

> Is this just another Nvidia driver bug? Or, is my hardware flaky?

I have had this notebook for just about 4 years. The first year was spent RMAing it. Then finally I had a working laptop. The battery life was 3hrs on power saver doing things such web browsing and typing. Then one year ago the hard drive failed. So I replaced it. Now after 4 years of cleaning dust and replacing thermal paste it still works.

like the others i was sold on the low price and considerable amount of ram, both on the graphic end and the computing end. i find it difficult to multitask on this computer that is, until i did a fresh install of win 7. definitely not designed for windows 7. i can imagine this computer being a lot faster running either 32 bit xp or 64 bit xp. whatever. i made negative points due to "factory settings." once i got a little more intimate with this machine. (THATS WHAT SHE SAID JOKE) i found it to be amazing. my daws run well. only exception being the resource intensive plugins BUT HEY. the processor is upgradable! so whatever. no sound card crackles! no lags when i record or play last gen games! four stars for a reason. its a solid machine. me and my band use it for samples/bassdrops live via midi input. it can take a beating. the keys feel a little cheap but thats no biggie. the internal network card is not good for long range. but hey, they arent really meant to be? the display is awesome, the speakers KINDA suck but grab some earbuds and youre good to go. I PERSONALLY LUCKED OUT. a lot of people have complaints with this. its a pos!, it broke, the power input solder is cracked, the usb input is broken, the screen flickers, etc. I USE THIS IN A CONCERT SETTING. IT IS NOT A PIECE OF S***. its a solid computer "for the price." best thing one step up from a netbook.

This is a great notebook if you're like me and need something where you can do homework, watch YouTube videos and play a few games. Although its not the best of notebooks it does get the job done. Price is the one thing that did get me with this laptop. I recently got rid of my Dell and bought an HP netbook which came to an untimeley demise because of my dog. I was going to get another netbook but then saw this one with a comparable price to a few netbooks out there. Windows 7 runs very smooth, also it is a lightweight laptop so you don't have to worry about lugging around a heavy bulky laptop. One thing I will say is that if you are going to buy this notebook look at your local Best Buy for it, my husband paid $375 for it with tax.

Best Deals for Acer Aspire AS5532-5535 Laptop Notebook - 15.6" LCD / AMD Athlon

I purchased this notebook at the beginning of January and have enjoyed it so far. I do have a few suggestions for the folks out there having problems with it lagging or running too slow. First, realize that this does not have the best video card installed, and it is not upgradable, so you may have issues with watching HD videos directly off the internet. Internet speeds vary from house to house and can affect your video watching ability. Videos work quite a bit smoother if you download them first(if you have that option) then view in Windows Media Player.

Additionally, this is only a single core processor, so one of the first things I did was get rid of the McAfee and install the Avast Home Free edition virus software (available to anyone for free at ). Additionally, when I tried to use the Window Media Center, it used up all of my available rom/ram and caused serious slow downs (like taking 3 minutes to shut down). Once again, I uninstalled the Windows Media Center (though kept the Media Player installed) and downloaded the video codex files for Windows 7 Media Player (also from ) so any DVD I watch is through the Media Player. It runs very smooth when I watch videos now! The other program I installed was Advanced System Care (also free from ... and no I do not work for them). This will go through and remove any junk files, registry errors, spyware, etc... Great free program for keeping your system running bug free! After these three simple changes I have not had a single problem with this laptop.

I hope this helps you folks out there considering this laptop, or if you already have this laptop. :-)

Honest reviews on Acer Aspire AS5532-5535 Laptop Notebook - 15.6" LCD / AMD Athlon

Purchased the Acer Aspire 5532 from Best Buy in November. Great value, you get what you pay for. Out of the box, it's attractive dark blue, nice size & the display is vibrant and clear. All I need it for is email, lil surfing, MS Works word processor, works great for those things. The mousepad as one reviewer pointed out is very persnikity, it will drag on you and the pointer will end up where you don't want it. Speedwise it's pretty good, Windows 7 runs really smooth, I like it alot. After approx 2 months on this thing, my ac adapter/power cord went kaput! I can only use it on battery power which of course is now drained, not even enough juice to even make a light glow. Highly disappointed as Acer customer service/tech support is non existant, or so it seems. It looks like I will be returning to Acer at my own expense for possible repair. I think it's a good deal for basic computing only, and be very careful with the power cord/settings once you lose battery power there is no getting it back on!

Preface-I only paid $329.00 for this machine and I have an iMac for Video editing. If you realize what this machine is and what it is designed for, I don't think there is a better bargain right now.

Win 7 64 bit runs great on this machine, even with a single core processor. BUT....... you can upgrade this processor to a dual core AMD chip for less than $40. Add in the best integrated video card made, 3 GB RAM and an HD 720P Resolution Widescreen, and you have a great deal.

Some little things that I LOVE about this laptop are the physical on/off toggle for WiFi and the touchpad. These are amazingly convenient things that you might not consider looking for when shopping, but they are super useful. Since I use a wireless mouse, I find the AC Adapter location on the left side to be perfect. I had a Lenovo Ideapad that put the plug on the right side and it was a giant pain. It runs cool and is very quiet. I threw a 4GB SD card in the reader for Readyboost and I feel like this is faster than 64 bit Vista was on the aforementioned Lenovo(T5800 Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz and 4GB RAM). I run full screen ripped DVD's with no problem, run off the optical drive no problem(movies look great!) and run Office 2007 without a glitch.

I do wish it had a physical volume rocker at least 1 more USB port, but for $329, I really can't complain.

My experience has been pretty limited, but as I have not read many reviews about the Edge with the Neo 1.5 GHz dual core processor, I thought it was worth discussing.

My first thoughts are the build quality is good, but not quite up to typical ThinkPad finish. I have the matte black finish, but it's not the same rubberized black finish that ThinkPad's are known for. This is just a matte black plastic. I was a little disappointed. The keyboard is as many have said fantastic. Very quiet, feels great. Lenovo did a great job with the design.

The screen is fine. The trackpoint is as expected. If you are new to ThinkPads, I think this is where there is a real productivity enhancer over a typical laptop. If you type, then use the mouse, then type, then use the mouse... in a typical setup you have to move your hand. With the trackpoint, you don't move your hand from the typical typing position. It saves time and energy. The middle trackpoint button serves as the scrolling down mechanism that most mice have. Overall, it's been a great design for the past 7 or 8 years for ThinkPad's, and I think most users once acclimated will appreciate it. Even if you don't, the trackpad is smooth and good.

I had read casual remarks from PC Magazine saying that the performance of the Neo processor was bad which made me concerned at first... but I haven't really found that to be the case. Windows 7 installation was relatively fast, installing the typical programs was relatively fast (VLC, Firefox, iTunes) I bought this computer to surf the web and write email. The performance exceeds my expectations for that. My home computer is an i7 2.6 quad core, so I'm used to speed, but I haven't been disappointed. I watched some youtube videos which tend to be flash and processor intensive, no issues there. I have not watched any downloaded videos yet, but the graphics card is superior to the GMA 4500HD, so I would be shocked if there is an issue. The wireless download speeds from some websites were pretty impressive. I use a Dlink MIR-655 wireless router and I was downloading from Apple's site at over 1MB per second. Not bad. Overall, it seemed crisp. Not what I was expecting from an "underpowered processor"

The computer doesn't run very hot... but it can be somewhat warm. I haven't tried a laptop that isn't. My lone complaint so far is that when the computer is working hard, the fan turns on, and it is audible. Not really loud, but audible. Audible even when the TV is on. Fans should not be audible on a ULV processor. Write that down Lenovo.

I was torn between this computer and the Dell Vostro v13. Ultimately I decided on this device over the Dell because the ThinkPad had the trackpoint, a well reviewed keyboard and a removable battery. I think I'm happy with my decision, but the Dell is without question a better looking device. Style over substance? In this case, I went with the substance.

Update 2/11/2010: After a day or two more, I can give some more insight. I attempted to watch Lost in 720p streaming from abc.com last night and had mixed results. When not running full screen, the processor can keep up. When running full screen, it can ALMOST keep up... but unfortunately, falls short. This isn't the biggest of deals, but I think users would want to know this before purchasing the machine. Watching streaming video in bed is just one of the many joys of owning a laptop.

Another thing that I didn't note is the sound. The speakers are located under the front of the keyboard. In your lap, sound is muffled and not good. This design is more ideal for a table or laptop pad. If you use the edge on your lap, you will experience poor sound.

Also, it definitely runs a little hotter than my wife's 2-3 year old macbook. That is kind of surprising. The battery life on the Neo is worse than the Intel Core Duo option, and I think that extra juice is turning into heat as the ThinkPad Edge review of the core duo processor has minimal heat issues.

In closing, I still like the laptop, but there are definitely compromises and issues that keep it from being easy to recommend. The Dell Vostro V13 at $650 is probably a better decision for most, albeit over $100 more than what I spent once you include delivery.

Acer Aspire 7552g-6436 Review, as of 24 hours...

I'm coming from a Dell inspiron 2200.

Con's :

So at first glance i noticed the keyboard has tabs on the keys instead of keys. seems a little flimsy

only time will tell.

Not really happy with the power cord either but as the zen master says "we'll see".

The placement of the usb and other ports on both sides instead of the rear is less than perfect in

my opinion.

The Middle Ground : Price vs. performance.

So far the CPU has yet to disapoint, despite some decent games and multi-tasking i have throw at it.

Even though it's only an AMD Caspian and lacks level 3 cache and suffers from low clock speed this cpu

should serve well for a few years at least, its also an upgradable option, if you know how and if you can

get your hand on an AMD x940 you can expect a little bump. For the Price this N950 is about as good as it

gets for amd and they are only on par with the fastest i5's. BUT at least it has 4 threads not 2 like the i5's.

640gb western digital blue 5400rpm hard drive, is ok and plenty big but slow, HD tuner gave it 55mb min 85mb

max transfer.I have ordered a kingston v100 64 gb for this laptop, and will let you know more about that upgrade.

I installed a kingston v100 64gb SSD, and let me tell you it is FAST. I did not like the error messages

i got when cloning the drive, but after hitting ignore a couple times everything seems to be fine, if i end up

having to jump through hoops to fix it i will let you know. I assume if i have a problem with the ssd then

i can always put the hard drive back..Hd tech wont run on windows7 even in compatiblity mode.

So i used hd tune which gave me reads at 148mb's on twice, though i did have one test show 169mb's.

Makes me wonder if this sata controller is 1.5gb or 3.0gb as i should have in theory got only 143mb/s reads

with a sata 1 or 1.5gb controller.

Pro's : The screen is amazing ! Nice and sharp ! Really Pops out at you. I know its not 1080 but 720 is

still easy on the eyes compared to 1024x768 on 14.1 inch monitor.

The laptop has many features that are upgradable, including the Hard drive ( yes you can have 2 , after you

purchase another hard drive tray from acer for $29.99 ? must be how the corporate exec's get their bonuses,

i mean really 30 bucks for a piece of bent metal ? SAD !!)

Also their is 3 memory slots as newegg reports so you can have as much as 12gb of ram.. smoking for a laptop

in this price range.

And yes the 6650m ATI radeon can also be upgraded, not that it's the weakest part of this system by any means.

I'm getting 80+ FPS in BF2, Cod4 and other games with all set to max settings.

I have heard and read about a bios mod for acer computers that unlocks all kinds of goodies, which i will

try in the near future.

Conclusion : This is a great laptop for the price of 700.00 or so, despite some limitations with AMd CPU's.

If your looking for a solid gaming laptop for a low cost, this as7552g-6436 will not let you down.

I hoped this helped someone.

I'm very picky when it comes to buying a computer. I searched for WEEKS before buying a laptop, read reviews, hit the Net repeatedly, went to every computer store in our area. This was not the best laptop I found. That honor went to a SONY system that cost 1400 bucks. This one was almost half that price. For the price, the Acer was the best in its class. I found no other computer than the Sony that even came close.

The first thing I noticed (and yes, odd how certain things are important to different people) was the textured surface that is not only resistant to fingerprints... it laughs at them. I had previously owned a high-powered Gateway and it fingerprinted like a fiend. I was constantly cleaning the cover. So this was an important thing to me. Minor I know, but important.

I know there are gamer boys out there that will run this through all kinds of specs tests and say "oh the hard drive is slow" (what, at 5400 rpm? Are they kidding?) or that it's a "slow processor" (quad core 2.1g? Again, are they kidding? Yeah it's not 3 ghz, but it's no slouch either). To each his own. FOR THE AVERAGE PERSON-including gamers-this will prove a power-packed system for what I consider to be a very low price.

Quad core 2.1 processor, good hunka RAM, large size hard drive (for a laptop), quiet operation, good solid feel, and a gamer-level graphics card that has stood up to every nasty thing I could throw at it (and I threw a LOT at it).

The only negative thing: I'm not all that impressed with the screen. It's a good resolution, is quite visible, but it has a glare problem (as exists with many laptops) and one can definitely see (especially on dark screens) a difference in lighting pattern behind the screen. Nevertheless, it's just fine for almost all applications and the flaws really don't show up anywhere but movies or games with dark backgrounds. For 729 bucks, I can live with a less-than-perfect screen. It does bug me a bit however. I have seen anti-glare screen covers for about thirty bucks (gah, 30 for a piece of stick-on anti-glare plastic? Greed greed...) so the addition of such a device should make the screen much more visible in harsh-light situations such as bookstores or offices with overhead lights.

The keyboard is full size and responsive. Gotta love the multi-touch mousepad (although I always attach an external trackball for my own use). The laptop is not a lightweight, but not nearly as heavy as other 17" systems I've seen and is significantly thinner than laptops I've owned in the past. It has a sleek look and style to it that I find pleasing, without excessive lights and gizmos to distract from operation.

I suggest first thing making recovery disks when the system presents that option. You'll need a number of DVD and a LONG time. But it's good insurance. I also recommend going through the software offerings and remove anything that even remotely looks useless (I won't name names like McNorton or similar software). Anything that is "trial" can be booted as pretty much useless. The more you remove, the faster the system will run. Acer isn't alone in quantity of garbage software on the system. So give yourself a bit of setup time and get it where you want it to start with. Be sure to set the POWER and PROCESSOR settings to the kind of use common for you. Me: MORE POWER, BABY. :D

On a scale from 1-10 I'd give this a 9. I would have loved to see BluRay rather than a DVD drive. I like that it has USB ports on BOTH sides of the computer (I would have liked to see one on the back, but that can interfere with cover issues on some laptops, and may not be a good idea overall). All in all this is a very solid and powerful computer that is in the price range of a standard "business" no-frills laptop. I haven't seen anything else that even comes close for the price.

Best Deals for Acer AS7552G-6436 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black)

I was a little hesitant to purchase this laptop because I normally buy HP products. However, the price was much cheaper than the HP and so I gave it a shot based on the specifications. I was pleasantly surprised. It is constructed well; I like the textured surface that doesn't show scratches and smudges as easily as the HP. It is a little heavy, but not as much as I would have expected for a 17.3" laptop. I was happy to see that the model I received did not need a separate adapter for a second hard drive like the older Acers did. It packs plenty of horsepower, although the first thing I did was remove windows to get rid of all of the resource-sucking bloatware. For some reason, the restore disk creation software requires five DVDs and you cannot select what software to install during installation. I downloaded a clean copy of windows and started fresh, using the license key under the laptop.

It has three memory slots. I used the money I saved by buying this laptop to add another 4 gig of ram. I am currently running Fedora 14 with Windows 7 as a Virtualbox guest with minimal performance issues (other than video, discussed below).

Hardware: Screen is amazing. Laptop has the potential to run warm, but I use the Xpad Slim and haven't noticed any heat issues yet. The computer seems to be constructed solidly. I don't like the keyboard as much (the keys are flat squares, but they depress like a normal keyboard so I can't complain).

If you plan on using Linux, be aware that the video card driver from ATI does not support the new kernel--you'll have to google to get it to work--and you will have to blacklist drivers to get the wireless working but with some tweaking everything on the laptop but the multi-gesture function of the mouse pad works. There are some annoying video issues that I hope will be fixed with an ATI driver update (e.g. persistant watermark in the corner, sleep issues, VirtualBox issues) but hopefully that update will happen soon. Oh, and install the 32-bit version of W7 in VirtualBox or you will see a serious performance hit to the virtual machine.

From a hardware perspective this is a great deal. If you're running windows 7 only there should be no issues at all, aside from the unneeded additional bundled software that slows everything down.

Update:

The video and wireless problems have been resolved by Fedora updates (Fedora 17 x86_64), and something else must have been updated, because I re-installed windows 7 64bit in VirtualBox and found a significant performance INCREASE over the 32bit. If I ever have to run windows, I can pop in and out of it in seconds, and it now runs in what feels like native speed, with the exception of 2D video acceleration (for some reason 3D still works). I am still absolutely happy with this purchase.

Honest reviews on Acer AS7552G-6436 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black)

Okay everyone just to let you know I am a gamer! I bought this to take with me to work and to school. So far I am very pleased with the laptop. The screen is epic. I have read a few complaints on the key board. Now I am very picking when it comes to my peripherals. I have always carried around a desktop key board for my gaming on the go, along with a mouse because who wants to play video games on a track pad? Well After using this key board for about 5 minutes , I no longer carry a spare key board with me. The response and the fell of the key board is enough to satisfy even the pickiest of gamers. The track pad is very fast very responsive but I still carry around a wired mouse. The feel of this laptop is very sturdy with out being over weight. Its nice solid construction makes me feel comfortable while carrying it around. The finish on the outer case is amazing. I am a finger print fanatic. With my old laptop 30% of the time I was wiping finger print smudges off of them. The finish on this thing is great no more finger prints. The interior is okay the key board rests on a nice metal finish that doesn't not attract finger prints either but the problem is the boarder around the screen and, the edge of the whole thing there is that same old shinny black plastic finger print magnet.

Now lets get down to the gaming part of my review. The performance of this laptop is incredible. I was not only shocked but I was amazed at how well this thing handles games.

Frame rates:

Call of duty modern warfare 2 80-90 fps.

battle field bad company 2 30-45 fps.

Portal 2 60 fps.

fall out new vegas 60 fps.

counter strike source 60 fps.

left 4 dead 1 and 2 60 fps.

EVE online 50-80 fps.

Aion 45-60 fps.

These bench marks come from FRAPS. The video settings are maxed out at 1600x900 vsync is on for all the steam games. everything set to highest setting.

Like I said the gaming is great. that little video card powers threw pretty much anything you can throw at it.

I am not a professional laptop reviewer by any means. And I have read some awful things about this laptop threw different websites. I fell those reviews are punching this thing around pretty hard. They are also comparing it to laptop that cost 200-300 dollars more then this one. So I cant tell you to buy it or not. But what I can say is, If I needed a new laptop again, I would buy this one all over again.

***Update*** After having this laptop for sometime I can tell you I will never purchase from ACER again. The customer support is sub-par with no driver updates coming in the last year and a half. The CPU fan is extremely loud and replacement parts are not easy to come by and Customer support cannot even provide you with part numbers. I will be going back to HP where you can get support and parts for your purchases.

This is a great laptop for the price I paid $725 and I am very pleased with my purchase. I can not speak to the way Acer sets up the operating system as I never even booted into it. I used a copy of 64-bit Windows with the Key from the bottom of the computer to do a fresh install from the get go. I highly recommend to download the drivers ahead of time, many are not in Windows 7 by default.

Pros:

1) Very fast using multi-threaded applications i.e. Handbrake.

2) Full size keyboard with number pad.

3) Few hardware LED's, the last laptop I had looked like a UFO. This Acer is very sedate I like the simplistic design.

4) Graphics are amazing for this price range.

5) Unit is very quite while routine operation. You can hear it pretty good while intensive operation such as encoding video.

6) Atheros Wi-Fi 802.11N is implemented quite well. I am able to get two rooms away and maintain 7MB/s transfers of large files.

7) Three DDR3 slots in mine it came with two 2Gig sticks of Kingston 1066 Ram. I am upgrading the third slot with a 4Gig stick.

8) Second hard drive bay for upgrades.

Cons:

1) Battery, only a six cell battery and the nine cell from Acer is $128.00 for a battery(wow)With mixed usage I am looking at 2hr 45min.

2) LCD screen viewing angle. Your face needs to be parallel to the screen and your eyes level with the top or the colors are completely washed out.

3) Single touch pad bar. I really wish the left and right buttons were separated, although I am getting used to this configuration.

4) Speakers are on the base right below the screen. I listen to a lot of podcasts and like to close the screen, if I do close the lid it muffles the sound.

5) Second hard drive bay requires a caddy that does not come with it.

6) Acer support website is useless and they will not provide and tech. manuals for their products,a service I have had multiple other vendors do without question.

Over all I say near $700.00 this is a deal for a 17inch DTR.

***Update**** I have seen some confusion on here as to the unreadability of the RAM. This laptop has 3 DDR3 slots that can hold 4Gigs a piece for a total of 12Gigs of RAM. Current configuration is using two of these slots leaving one free for immediate upgrade to 8Gigs.

I couldn't be happier with this laptop. IT ARRIVED TWO DAYS AFTER I ORDERED IT (I didn't even select or get charged for two day shipping. I guess the shipper was that fast). This is exactly what I spent about 3 days looking for driving around town to different stores such as Target, Wal-Mart, Best-Buy and 3 different Staples. Staples is where I originally came across this beauty, but unfortunately they were putting things in their ads that they didn't yet have in stock. But anyways this laptop has a good processor for multitasking and downloading, it has the touch screen feature, it has a nice screen size (Unlike the 11.6" Acer V5 Aspire that I returned to get this, which was a great swap), it has a fast power on start up and shut down, the speakers are pretty good but I'd recommend using headphones if you want to get the most out of its sound, it has a nice HD display which comes in handy when I'm watching movies on Netflix, it has a great amount of storage space, it comes with Windows 8 and that's easier to navigate and learn using the touch screen feature if you're new to it, it has a great battery life especially since its touch screen I thought it'd die in like 3 or 4 hours like the Acer I talked about earlier. I got this laptop September 10th so I waited about a month before doing a review and I have to admit I've had no problems with it so far. I'd recommend it to anyone.

This is my first touchscreen laptop and I'm loving using it. Not crazy about windows 8 but that is just my opinion. I love the ease of switching screens at the touch of a finger. It is so much faster than what I had. I am still playing around with the tiles as I am not computer savvy so I am still learning all the features. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new computer.

Ok, I've had the computer for a few days now. Out of the box it is an excellent starter system for the student. Very easy to setup and get going. Windows 8 is not the greatest, however this is not a Windows review... The touch screen is very responsive as I am impressed with the speed and response of the system itself.

I do not have an issue with the speakers as another review stated. The speakers are as expected for this price model. I would recommend this product for any student wanting to upgrade to a touch screen with the latest operating system.

Bottom line, you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a gaming system, buy a gaming system. This computer is excellent for the online college classes that I take, and great for a student. As a side note, the new Internet Explorer STINKS.... I would recommend Google Chrome or Firefox for ease of use on the internet...

My laptop performs all of the functions I request of it with alacrity and accuracy. I am quite pleased and recommend it often. It has given me absolutely no cause for complaint, as of yet, and I consider that a strong endorsement for high-level product approval. It is very lightweight, feels small even, and is also relatively slim. The screen seems small at first, but, like driving a friends automobile, one becomes accustomed to the differences quickly and adapts. I find it handy. Movies, music, office-type tasks, internet, the few games I enjoy and it has a webcam that I haven't tried these things work perfectly. The features packed onto this little notebook are amazing to me. So many well-organized and well-conceived features in such a small package. Don't get one of the inexpensive off-brand batteries if you can possibly avoid doing so. The HP replacements/spares are much better in my experience. I feel quite comfortable and pleased with my investment in this product and most definitely feel comfortable advising whomever it may be that is reading this, if you are considering buying a laptop, the hp pavilion dv4-1551dx would be an excellent choice. It is really so much faster then I expected. Enjoy......

I bought two of these laptops back in September 2009. The battery life is pretty good with an average of about 3 hours. the weight and portability make this a good laptop as well. The programs run smoothly and overall I have enjoyed the laptop.

The major flaw of this laptop is that after two years, neither of the laptops will take a charge. The charging port has become loose and now I have to spend about 45 minutes trying to get this computer to charge.

It worked great for a while, but if you are planning on keeping your laptop for more then 2 years I would suggest something else.

I have had one of these for about 5 months, and other than a few problems, I love it.

The screen's backlight adjustment could be a little better; below maximum, you have to deal with reflections and glare; at maximum, it'll hurt your eyes unless you lean back. Still, it's better than no adjustment at all; my old laptop started giving me Dell's patented "certain number and fuction keys suddenly stop working" syndrome.

The heat from the hard drive worries me a little: it'll get warm to the touch after about an hour or so, to the point where you can feel it through the top of the machine. Of course, it's possible that it is because I've got it on a stand with a Targus Chill Mat beneath it.

The keyboard is a nice size, with good spacing and placement and plenty of space below where you can rest your wrists when you're not typing.. You'd be surprised how much you miss an external keyboard when you travel with it, though.

The built-in "mouse" sucks. I mean, really sucks. I simply turn it off and use an external mouse because it's like trying to use an iPad stylus on a self-checkout screen; totally useless unless you really press down. The cursor bounces all over the place and there's no scrolling capability without wearing out your fingers.

The optical drive is fast enough to play DVDs without having to wait for it to stop play and scan ahead. It is pretty loud, though, since it reads discs at a fairly high rate.

The system itself is pretty good. It loads Windows 7 fast, and only hangs if I really stess it. Mine came with the standard 4GB of RAM, but I can upgrade to 8GB if I want to. The memory's easy to get to, as well; simply unscrew the little panel on the bottom of the laptop and take it off, and you have a clear view of the memory sticks. The integrated graphics card kind of sucks, since it uses system memory, but it's pretty good at 3D rendering, so I can put up with it.

The built-in card reader is a great touch, something I didn't expect. It gives you read problems every once in a while, but nothing serious; sometimes, you have to remove and reinsert a card to get it to detect in, but it's never failed completely.

All in all, it's a good machine for someone who isn't looking for hard-core gaming laptop, but who wants something nicer to look at and use than some Elitebook corporate machine.

I have owned an HP DV4-1551dx for about 2 1/2 years now. I bought it on eBay as used like new. This machine has performed extremely well for me while traveling, home office and personal use. It has hundreds of hours of use. It has been used for 125+ Power Point presentations and 200+ Netflix downloaded movies, iTunes radio and music listening. I have used Roxio 2010 to create more than 150 original disks from pictures. It has Skype and works perfectly for call to relatives in Brazil. I have used it to transfer about 100 LP 33 1/3 RPM records to iTunes. This has been an exceptionally durable laptop. I cloned the hard drive recently and replaced it with another 320 GB drive just in case. I have had several hard drive failures in the past on other computers and it it better to replace them before you need to rather than after they crash! I use it on top of a cooling fan for extended use and blow the dust out of the case and fan every 3 months.

This laptop is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something small and portable, yet very useful. I use it mainly for surfing the web, but my kids watch movies on it and play online games....... the processing is speedy and the graphics are clear. The only con is that sometimes in bright light there is a glare on the screen.

To start off, this laptop has good build and high grade plastic surface. It feels sleek and slim much akin to a Macbook pro. From a distance, it can be mistaken as a Macbook. The laptop, although slim, surprisingly packs a great deal of power for most recent games.

Pros: The A10 processor is built for powerful performance paired with Radeon 8750M with a DEDICATED 2GB memory. As seen on Youtube, this laptop can play 30 fps on FarCry 3 on high settings, 30 fps on Battlefield 3 medium settings, and Max setting on Team Fortress 2 or any older games. I've been playing Starcraft 2 and Team Fortress 2 on max settings with no issue.

*Be sure to update the video driver to Radeon Catalyst 13.8 Beta, it will give at least 20 more fps.

I tried to order this exact laptop from Newegg previously as next day shipping but it took them 5 days and they never shipped the laptop. I cancelled the order immediately, ordered the laptop from Amazon for next day shipping, it arrived on time in one day! NEVER buy from Newegg, shipping and processing is a joke, they are no match to Amazon!

Cons: There aren't much cons to the laptop in general, the keyboard is an exact replica of the Macbook pro. It may frighten PC elitists at first but it works and functions well. The laptop has a weak battery, expect to keep it plugged in. It will automatically boost performance for gaming, might as well keep it plugged in at all times.

Let me start this by saying I have a personal bias against Acer laptops.

Back in college I owned an expensive Acer netbook (expensive for a netbook, I mean), and it had a cheap plastic shell that was flimsy and the processor was prone to overheating. The heat was so bad that over time the netbook warped slightly. I was in the market for a laptop after said netbook's hinge snapped off from daily use. Granted, it took it nearly 3 years to bust. I thought/hoped a more expensive and premium product from Acer would not have this problem, but I'll save that for later.

I have been all over this machine in the last 5 hours I've had it. I've run tests, played games and checked temperatures. Here's what I have to say.

Performance Pros:

I have an Intel desktop with an i5-2500k at 4.8ghz, and merely just browsing the web or watching video, I can't tell any difference between it and this laptop. It just simply works. I know AMD's quad-core A10 APUs just barely stand their ground against Intel's dual core sandy bridge chips, but it's still more performance than most people need for their daily facebook rituals. The Radeon 8750m was better than I expected, and can even work in conjunction with the integrated graphics to boost performance.

Minecraft was snappy and responsive, Phantasy Star Online 2's benchmark hit an adequate 2600 in medium settings, Bioshock Infinite was playable at medium settings and their wasn't enough stuttering that I couldn't handle it. Blacklight Retribution played solidly. If you're going to play WoW or any number of older hardcore or newer casual games, this'll play them great at medium settings. It even plays Farcry 3 at low settings.

It is easy to switch between the iGPU and dedicated GPU and choose which applications do so automatically. Hybrid crossfire is easily disabled.

Performance cons:

As easy as it is too see which graphics are running, integrated or dedicated, it's very hard to see when hybrid crossfire is active. Even when only the Radeon 8750m is being used, you can still see spikes in activity from the iGPU.

The system is also picky over which games get the crossfire working, more often than not I found I was only using the dedicated card or iGPU, not both. When you do get hybrid crossfire working, the performance boost can vary greatly from game to game, even with the latest Catalyst 13.8 beta drivers. This inconsistency is a turn off and I recommend sticking with just the iGPU for light gaming (minecraft, Valve's source games) and dedicated GPU for the heavier stuff. Also, the dedicated Radeon 8750m, despite using AMD's latest GCN architecture and having dedicated memory with a nice clock speed advantage, isn't too much faster than the iGPU. I found the iGPU only to be about 20% slower, but in the range we're dealing with, that's not a whole lot. Rather than say the Radeon 8750m disappoints me, it doesn't, I'd like to think the Radeon 8650G iGPU surprises me. Acer could have made this a much better gaming platform with the GDDR5 version of the Radeon 8750m and dropping the dual graphics gimmick, as having the memory run twice as fast generally leads to much better performance.

Build Pros:

The screen is vibrant and has no dark spots that stick out like a sore thumb. Most of the shell feels solid and not flimsy and best of all, heat is vented out the back of the laptop and not to the sides where your arms could be. The internals only got as hot as 75c for both the dedicated GPU and the APU, and all the heat is concentrated in the back of the laptop, not the front where you rest your palms. This was a very good design move and one of the most appealing aspects of this systemhappy hands. I don't miss the lack of DVD drive as I download most of my games and music or stream them from the cloud.

Build Cons:

I hate the keyboard. The keys just barely stick out from the shell and require little pressure. If this was your first computer and you didn't know any better, you may come to prefer this style over all others, but to those of us that have used computers all our lives, this will take time to get used to. I can't say after the time I've spent with the machine I'm a fan of it.

As I stated previously, most of this machine feels solid. Most of it. I was simpy removing the protective tape the manufacturer places along the plastic rim of the monitor and ripped off said rim around the lower left corner, also taking the inner hinge covering with it. The plastic bordering the screen is VERY flimsy toward the bottom and I advise slowly and cautiously removing the protective tape rather than give it a quick pull like I did. Now I have a laptop with a partially detached hinge cover and loose screen rim. So much for premium cost equaling premium build. This was probably a simple oversight by Acer's design team, but this should be corrected as soon as possible. Unless my unit had a faulty screen or it was left loose on accident when it left the manufacturer, I'm sure I won't be alone in screen rim problems.

Also, one stick of ram is SOLDERED into place. The most ram this laptop can handle therefore is 12gb, not 16. This seems like an odd choice to me, but most people won't need more than the provided 6gb.

Oh, and I don't like the touch pad. It's big and roomy, but I like to leave a finger on the left clicker and doing so confuses the movement of the pointer. I wish the buttons were seperate from the touchpad. I also found the right click to be finicky and only work when you press toward the center and not the outer edge.

Overall:

Maybe I'm still recovering from the shock of nearly ripping off the edge of my screen, but I'm not completely happy with this laptop and returning it as faulty. Don't get me wrong, performance-wise it fulfills all my needs. This computer shows no sign of potential overheating problems after hours of gaming and stays pretty cool, but if just removing the protective tape around the screen can detach the rim, I don't want to know what other surprises are waiting for me in the long run. I don't take chances with $630 purchases. It's just that I've had Acer before. I've had build quality issues with them before. Well no more.

Other notes:

As advertised, this comes with AMD's second best mobile APU, the A10-5757m. Yes, second best. The best is the A10-5750m. What's the difference? The A10-5750m is unique amongst AMD's APU lineup in that it can take 1866mhz ram, allowing better integrated graphics performance. A10-5757m only takes up to 1600mhz, which is exactly what Acer uses in this laptop. The difference is almost negligible in perceived performance when gaming with the iGPU, so it's hard to complain. It's not going to make the unplayable playable. Just know you can't upgrade to faster ram or adjust ram timings/settings in the BIOS, Acer has that completely locked down. Accessing the BIOS also takes some finesse and is required to install an OS other than Windows 8, but it can be done.

Oh, and while this laptop can support a mini-display port monitor and an HDMI monitor, I miss the VGA port option, but this can be remedied with an active adapter.

Unfortunately, I forgot to note that this computer doesn't have a disk tray before I bought it. Nothing that's too difficult to work with, and it's definitely my fault for missing that, but just a note. Otherwise, computer is great. Very sleek, very fast. Great for gaming.

Honest reviews on Acer Aspire V5-552G-X414 15.6-inch Laptop (Cold Steel)

Pros: Good performance in CPU/GPU and good battery duration. Memory and hard drive must be sufficient for most users.

Better with a memory upgrade.

Cons: The shell seems to be fragile.

I agree with the previous reviewer about the keyboard issue, it does take a bit of getting used to. The screen can feel a little climsy sometimes, but its fine and i have no hinge/frame problems so far. So far I've only used it to play Civilization V, which is more of a CPU rather than GPU game, and it ran the game fine on the automated settings (Medium-High). I'm going to intall CODMW3 on it and see how it performs :) the battery life is a downer though, can't do much unplugged (study at a coffee shop, having a long skype video call, etc...)

Worth every penny, it's a good internet and gaming computer. This is a great laptop for starters or teens.I purchased the laptop after my 9 year old laptop died. This was a great deal for the price and for what I need it for. Love the slick black color. Not a lot you can do with this other than play with it.I believe this laptop is as good as you will find for a budget laptop. It has 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and excellent functionality. Some people may not be used to Windows 8 yet, like another person who reviewed it, but if you take the quick tutotial on Windows 8 online, you can easily adapt and find it's a very good computer. Overall: Good sound quality, A touch pad that works great, Perfect for Business, Big screen size, easy to set up, lightning fast!

This one is great for all the daily usage, but not powerful enough for gaming. We take advantage of it and purchased this product for our son as his first own laptop. We suggest this product for any people who just need a laptop for daily usage. worth every penny

I was looking for a laptop to get me started. Just something to get around on the internet, check email, and store music and video. For the price of around 350$ this computer is amazing. I found that the harddrive is perfect for people that love music and movies like i do. The camera is a good one. Not amazing but still worth using. The laptop as not froze on me and runs at a very good speed. Takes only about 3 mins from a cold start to me being on the internet. The screen is plenty wide and a great size for music and video. The only downfall is the built in Windows 8 so i wouldn't recommend it to anyone in a gaming stand point but for everyone else youll learn how t use it and move through the interface in about a week.

This is a nice computer. I love the size and the sturdiness of it.

We have all Lenovo machines in our house, and they've never missed a beat. I wanted something a little larger than my 15 inch ThinkPad, so went with the G780.

Pros: size without too much weight, good looks, well put together, an able multi-tasker, smooth performance, really zippy and sure, the display is gorgeous and easy on the eyes...love having a bigger screen, excellent sound...best I've ever had on any computer, easy to transfer Windows7 & stuff over and add peripherals, and yes, I will say it: I am enjoying Windows 8.

Cons: The mouse buttons are kinda noisy and stiff. I am hoping they will break in, eventually. Also, too much bloatware, but it all seems easily removable. This isn't a computer to haul around all over tarnation. Though light for the size, it's still quite large and not of 'Thinkpad' build, in the lid/screen section.

If you are looking for a larger laptop, give this a try. Windows 8 is actually kind of fun, once you understand how to use it. Get on YouTube and watch a few W8 videos before you try it.

Just pleased as punch with this desktop replacement machine. It's truly awesome!

Update: Just wanted to add, I've had no problems whatsoever with the wifi card on this computer. It works very well. I am always connected quickly, no reboots necessary.

I've got to say that this laptop is excellent. Once I purchased it and powered it up, I didn't let Windows 8 even have a chance to run on it. I installed Linux Mint on it (like I do with all my machines) and it runs breathtakingly fast and never misses a beat. Excellent laptop for the money.

I bought my g780 less than a month ago and have been to the Lenovo support website several times and on the phone with tech support 3 times, trying to solve the problem of a curser that randomly jumps backwards, and automatically highlights and deletes what I type.

The automated support phone tree is frustrating, apparently not understanding English when you read your serial number. And no, you can't key in your number, you must say it.

Today, after downloading new mouse drivers and reinstalling the energy management, they determined that I needed to send it back to them. They made it sound like they were being generous by offering me free return shipping, but I would have to pay to ship it to them. I told them it was less than a month old and I expected them to take care of this entirely. After "talking with a supervisor" they finally did send me a postage-paid shipping label.

I was going to give them a two-star rating instead of a one-star, but the first time I typed this, the highlight-and-delete thing happened, erasing all of my review!

Update: 8/29/13 After having my computer for a month, Lenovo returned it to me with the same problem they were supposed to fix. The cursor still randomly jumps backward. In addition, I now find that sometimes the characters I type do not always show up on the monitor.

Honest reviews on Lenovo G780 17.3-Inch Laptop (Matte IMR/Metal)

Don't waste your time in this piece of JUNK! It's a plastic piece of trumped up garbage and it's difficult for me to believe that the other reviews on here are all sincere. First, the casing is light weight and feels like a toy computer. Then, for some reason the computer does it's oEWwn thing, so as I am reading something or writing something, it jumps to some other page. I waste an enormous amount of time just staying on the page I've selected. The mouse pad is too sensitive so when I'm typing it's jumping all around. It continually loses my internet wireless connection, even though none of the other computers in the house do. Windows 8 is awful. What can I say. I plan to buy an Apple and give this piece of junk away. In fact, it's so bad that I am considering giving up on laptops altogether and just using my phone and a good desk top computer. Lenovo -never again!

I don't as a rule buy electronics by mail order, but My son said that this is the Laptop that he wanted. So taking a chance on this item, I bought it for him and he has remarked at least 8 times that this laptop is great. It was the item that he could use for work and pleasure. My grandson also is a computer buff and he says that this laptop is better then what he has ever used. Since I am 60 plus I will take their word for it. Only know how to be dangerous on a PC I can only take their word for it.

Bought this laptop for my daughter to use for her school projects, and it is working perfectly. The hard drive is big enough to accommodate all of her mp3's, and the quad core processor is really fast and snappy. The thing I like best is the full size keyboard, which a lot of laptops do not have.

Very happy so far with this laptop. I have had HP laptops in the past, so I knew I would be getting a quality product, and you cant beat the price. The screen resolution makes watching movies quite enjoyable.

I purchased an open box 2842-K3U to replace an aging ThinkPad G40. One of the first things I did was upgrade the memory to 8Gb, as I wanted to optimally run Windows 7 Professional (64-bit).

The Wi-Fi adapter that came standard was only a 2.4 Ghz 802.11b/g/n variant. If you enjoy lousy throughput in the crowded 2.4 spectrum, more power to you. I ended up getting a dual-band a/g/n adapter instead, referencing the Hardware Maintenance Manual for compatible FRUs (be advised that getting the wrong one will result in an 1802 post error). The plus side is that they can be had for cheap on the secondary market.

The hard drive was nothing special; a Seagate Momentus 250GB 5400 RPM SATA drive. I later got a Hitachi Travelstar500GB 7200 RPM drive.

Lack of Bluetooth support is not a show stopper, considering that one could get aftermarket usb adapters for cheap.

Lastly, the 6-cell Li-ion battery will last about a year or so; you know you're in need of a replacement when it can only give you an hour's worth of life.

Having an integrated webcam is a nice touch; it works well with Skype.

this was such mess! What I received was exactly opposite from what I ordered! I spent a good amount of time with TWO customer service agents trying to feel confident that these people could order this properly, but of course that did not happen. The very thing I made extremely clear that I did NOT want is exactly what I received. I returned it the next day.

I have had consistent bad service from Amazon, this was just one of many mistakes
