The computer arrived as quickly as possible!
Everything in the box was clean, undamaged and packed well looks like it is brand new computer (I bought refurbished one). Not in the original box so far. All the manuals and warranty card was included.
As for the laptop itself first power start was easy to configure session setup and here we go the brand new Arma 3 game is running as smooth as it should on the powerful enough configuration box. The AMD A8 quad-core CPU and good AMD Radeon video chip on board that what it makes this laptop exceptional. For a price not even close to this one you can afford only tiny Intel configuration. As for design pretty good and lightweight itself case is very thin and nice looking. Touch pad is huge and support multitouch gestures. As for gaming experience I am highly recommend to by any USB mouse also. High definition build-in webcam, nice 5.1 sound and DVD+/-RW drive on board what else one could imagine for as little as a bit greater then $300?

I purchased this item from another place other than Amazon. It is a replacement for the previous laptop I owned. This is a good student computer, it runs fast, has a good clear picture, holds a charge well for a large screen. It would not be a good gaming computer. The drawback I have with it is that it only has 2 USB ports and I had to purchase an extra USB that will allow me to charge my iPhone, plug in my mouse receiver, and plug in my jump drive all at the same time.
This computer is amazingly lightweight for its size and has a thin profile. Overall it is a good computer that is fairly portable for the student on the go.

So as you can see, quite a few nice games. Not only that, it handles 30-45 minutes of video quite nicely in Adobe CS5, which CS5 does just fine on this computer. I'd recommend it over higher end computers because of the price.
Toshiba hasn't fixed the problem in 6 months... they say they are on the verge of fixing it.
There are a lot of people wishing they had never bought the computer... you may want to hold off until it is fixed or buy from a different brand.
You can check out the forum on Toshiba's website to see what aggrivation they have caused their customers:Think twice before buying...

My laptop still works well for basic non-mobile tasks plus the charger never broke. I use it for Word and Adobe Photoshop and it doesn't lag or die out even when running Chrome, Photoshop, etc at the same time. If you don't get lucky with your purchase then I think just return it if possible if not do a little more careful work on your next purchase. Check where it's coming from, how its going to get there, what have others experienced, maybe don't buy the "latest" computer on the shelves and much more like that.
::Personal Opinion::
This computer is way past its buy mark so I cannot recommend buying this machine as it will not give you what you need anymore.

11 month old computer stopped working after a shutdown, was told the motherboard was broken. To fix this, I would be in as far as the cost of the computer. The tech told me not to buy a Toshiba next time. He said his research showed this is a common problem.Best Deals for PSK3JU-01D001 TOSHIBA PSK3JU-01D001 TOSHIBA PSK3JU-01D001

This is another great Toshiba laptop, I hear others complaining about broken power cords or internal components. I think for the price this laptop does do what it was priced for, student work or basic computing. It has a wonderful 17.3 inch screen that is 16x9 resolution which is more than enough space to type in Word or view entire spreadsheets. The screen is highly glossy and reflects more than you would enjoy and that is a major downfall. The speakers are nothing to boast about either. Battery life will run you 2 hrs when watching internet videos off WiFi based connection. In the end this laptop is a good one its just too old and outdated to really impress or even keep up with an on the go lifestyle. If anything try out an ASUS or look for a decent priced Toshiba right here on Amazon.com or your local electronics stores. As always this and all computers could have been better.::Personal Experience::

Best Toshiba Satellite A665-S6094 16-Inch Laptop (Fusion X2 Finish in Deals
This was my first laptop. I will never buy another Toshiba laptop computer and I don't recommend anyone else do so either.
I purchased this laptop from Best Buy and before it was 12 months old (about 5 months actually) the hard drive crashed (in warranty). Sent it back to the factory. Loooong wait. By 13 months it crashed again (out of warranty of course). I don't move it off my desk, use it like a desk top. They kept saying it must because I am too rough with it when carrying it around. One of the USB plug ins on the side for an external drive became nonworkable about 13 months as well. The display program goes to black and recovers (for now) at least 3-4 times a day. The CD drive works, but you can't rip from it or burn with it or play music because it skips and has from day one. My 14 year old HP desk top finally gave up the ghost yesterday, but I won't be replacing it with another Toshiba laptop that's for sure. I'm also through paying for the extended warranty on the Toshiba laptop at Best Buy because 1) They are a pain to deal with. 2) The lap top isn't worth the hassle to fix the next time it fails. I realize Toshiba is way past this model now this review from me will be too late to be useful, unless you are considering purchasing a used one, but I thought others that have had one might like to know they aren't the only one that has one of these useless pieces of junk. Of course, some one might be considering purchasing a used one. Heaven forbid!
Update 12/13/11 Another month has passed and now the display driver is failing and the screen often goes black. This computer is just over 14 months old but acts as if it is 10 years old.
I had a few key "wants" when I bought my next computer. I wanted:
1) A computer that would allow me to move my entire PC around the house easily -> laptop with 802.11 a/g/n wireless CHECK
2) Minimum i3 processor -> it has an Intel i7 Q740 quad-core processor @ 1.73GHz CHECK
3) Minimum 2GB RAM -> 4GB installed CHECK
4) Minimum 250GB hard drive -> 620GB hard drive installed CHECK
5) Minimum 720p display resolution -> CHECK
6) Good dedicated memory for video -> it has an NVIDIA GeForce 310M 512MB card with available 2270MB shared CHECK
7) A full keyboard with numeric keypad -> CHECK
8) A backlit keyboard -> NO (but hey that's my compromise for everything else I got) =)
The Windows Experience Index ratings(Windows 7 scores on this laptop) scale is 1.0-7.9:
Processor = 7.1
Memory = 5.9
Graphics = 4.9
Gaming Graphics = 6.0
Primary Hard Disk = 5.9
I bought this laptop in January 2011. It was a replacement for my 8 year old Pentium 4 desktop. I have run out of options to upgrade it and I felt it was time for a new PC. We all deserve that once in a while right? :) In that respect I am not disappointed and would personally have given it 5 stars. This laptop was a very good way to break into the i7 family of processors. There were quite a few i5 laptops that were smaller with a higher price at the time. It has no trouble running World of Warcraft on highest settings and will run StarCraft 2 but only at medium settings at best. That's the most I ask of it right now anyway. The Satellite feels very well constructed and not like a toy that will fall apart.
The laptop heats up very quickly when playing games but it has never shut down or even stuttered. However I would recommend a laptop cooler(like any other laptop). I have had a Zalman ZM-NC1500 cooler for a previous laptop and I put that under it. Keeps the operating temperature down very well.
A nice bonus I didn't even consider until I brought it home is the Harman-Kardon integrated speakers. They sound VERY nice and only crack under extreme duress(heavy bass at high volumes). I was amazed the first time I played a CD through them.
The 620GB hard drive is a very nice storage solution after being used to managing everything under a 160GB HDD for the last 8 years. The laptop has a DVD burner that also has CD-RW capabilities.
3 USB ports make it easy to access outside peripherals like USB sticks and game controllers. The placement of the USB ports is questionable though. I use a USB mouse and the ports are all at the front of the system on the left side(1) and right side(2) so when I plug it in the receiver sticks out right at the base of the unit.
There's a feature I rarely use but should mention the Satellite is equipped with 4G connectivity. All you need is a data plan with a carrier and it's ready to go. Nice thing about this is the laptop can also be used as a hub for tethering devices. I have used my iPad2 tethered to my laptop and it works great.
The biggest flaw is one that means the least to me personally BUT it is also what makes a laptop a laptop the battery. I have never gotten more than 1 1/2 hours of use out of it whether it is sitting idle or playing online. I don't understand why but these days a battery should get almost 3 hours if not more. Seems the industry standard is just under 3 hours. I don't know what Toshiba did to this laptop but it seems to be built with the most "un-green" components it can possibly have. Since I use a 2nd adapter in the living room it doesn't affect me much at all but to be a fair review I have to include this information and drop a star off the rating.
I have been exceptionally happy with my Toshiba Satellite A665-s6094 laptop since purchase and I expect to get years of service out of it. Unless battery life is a major consideration I would definitely recommend this to others.

I purchased the Toshia A665-S6094 from Best Buy in late Sept 2010. In mid March the laptop had to go back to Toshiba because the whole right side of the keyboard stopped working and the touchpad would stop working correctly after a few hours of use. They replaced the keyboard, but did nothing with the touchpad. A couple weeks later certain keys would stop working intermittently but after a few weeks they all started functioning properly again however the touchpad was still messed up to the point that I had to plug in and use a mouse. 13 months after buying this laptop (less than 1 month out of warranty), the hard drive failed completely so I had to have it replaced. Found out that the CD drive is also failing. There is no reason this laptop should be failing so miserably after just 13 months. Toshiba = FAIL!Update 12/13/11 Another month has passed and now the display driver is failing and the screen often goes black. This computer is just over 14 months old but acts as if it is 10 years old.

I purchased this laptop in November 2010. It was working great till October (11 months in)still under warranty. I started getting errors that the hard drive was failing (both Toshiba's utility and windows utility). I contacted Toshiba, and the only options were I could send them the whole laptop, and they would put in a hard drive and send it back (optimal time frame for them was 10 business days) and would not transfer any of my data. Or I could go to an authorized service provider and have them change out the hard drive and I would have to pay for the hard drive (what is the difference here versus just walking in off the street?). In either case the warranty would only be active till November. I offered to send them the hard drive so they could verify it was bad and send another they responded that they needed the whole computer. The laptop is fine, but due to incredibly poor customer service I would recommend buying another computer unless this is a secondary computer and you do not need it for anything important.Honest reviews on Toshiba Satellite A665-S6094 16-Inch Laptop (Fusion X2 Finish in

Review of HP G62-355DX
As a budget laptop this is stellar, as a desktop replacement it leaves something to be desired. The onboard graphics aren't suitable for graphic intensive games. Video editing works well. Linux and BSD friendly hardware. Generally a Great device.

Buy HP 6510b Laptop, Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2.0Ghz, Fingerprint Reader
I bought this computer almost a year ago and I did not have one problem with it (except its slow because of my weak internet). There are also some awesome features like the biometric finger scanner which is really easy to setup if you are computer inclined, if not than you can find a tutorial on the web somewhere but it does require that you download a program which I have tested and it is safe and works really good. The touch screen volume control gets laggy sometimes. Another thing that is good about this computer is that it is INDESTRUCTIBLE. I have dropped it, thrown it on my bed every night and spilled drinks on it multiple times. My online chief complaint is that I have an issue with charging it, the charger is kind of funky and you have to either hold it or not move the computer itself. It also doesn't hold a charge TOO well but if you are just using it for home than keep the charger near. And a little minor thing is that it doesn't come with a lot of stock programs like solitaire, etc. Which means there is no security system so you can either buy norton or avg or just use the trials which is what I do. Bottom line is that this computer is GREAT. The charger came brand new and the computer said that there was a few minor cosmetic damages but there is nothing bad that I have seen.

I fell in love with this laptop as soon as it started up!
It's nice and lightweight, doesn't overheat fast, and starts up quickly.
It's my first Toshiba and I'm completely satisfied with it.
The only thing that seems a bit backwards is when using the "F" keys ie. F5, F8 etc, you have to hold the "FN" or Function button and then whichever F key you want. I learned this the hard way by disabling my track pad accidentally!
Aside from that it's great. I was surprised that there was no removable battery pack, which probably is the reason it's so light! It has a nice long battery life when not plugged in and keeps up its speed.
A huge bonus is one of the USB ports will still charge your accessories while the computer is in sleep mode. Very handy!!
I'm not missing NOT having a cd drive, I still have my old laptop in case I need to burn anything.
My canon printer and all other accessories have been able to sync up fine via USB connections without any additional installation issues.
I've had it for a little over a month, so I'm sure there's still tons to find out about it but so far so good, I highly recommend it!
My former laptop was a 12" Toshiba Satellite but I bought it in 2007. It never crashed or gave me any kind of problem at all, it just felt behind. So I always thought of replacing it with another Toshiba because I trust the brand. I was worried with the size difference (12" vs 14"), but it's so lightweight it's not an issue. And it's so, so fast I love it.
It's an Ultrabook so they don't come with CD/DVD Drives anymore, but I think that's the main reason why they're so light and slender. So I bought Toshiba Portable SuperMulti Drive PA3834U-1DV2 and problem solved. You know you don't use it everyday, so why carry it everyday?
I like the tile keyboard but I guess I have to get used to it because I mispelled more often. And the mouse pad is giant compare to what I had before, also something to get used to. It doesn't have separate bottons for right and left click and that's giving me a hard time. It's like I lose control of the pointer sometimes when I click.
Battery life it's amazing. I couln't believe it but it's true, it lasts a little over 7 hours unplugged. A huge difference compared to my old one. 3 USB, one of them allows you to keep charging even in sleep mode. And now, instead of using a thick and heavy VGA/audio cable to transfer image on screen to my TV, I can use HDMI for better quality.
I bought it almost a month ago and so far so good. I highly recommend it!

If what you really do with your laptop is check out websites and your e-mails, download and manage music (that's what I do the most) and maybe some social networking, this one is for you. I'm not into video games, maybe hard core gamers need much more, but I don't. Yes, we all would like to have the last thing out there. For example, I was considering one with Windows 8, but if you think about it, then you would have to upgrade programs you already have like Windows 7-compatible Microsoft Office and maybe buy another printer and who knows what else. Honestly, if you just can't spend $100 more in a new computer, this one is perfect. My former laptop was a 12" Toshiba Satellite but I bought it in 2007. I was looking for a Windows 7 laptop with good memory, storage and options. I found the Toshiba Satellite to be perfect. This is a secondary laptop for the household so I didn't want all the extras on it. It could use a better mouse pad area but most laptops could. Works great with a wireless external mouse. Good size, super light weight, great for average use.Honest reviews on Toshiba Satellite U845-S402 14.0-Inch Ultrabook (Sky Silver)
Laptop is great but there is one major flaw. The video posted by amazon about this product says that it has a back lit keyboard. IT DOES NOT. I am disappointed by this but I guess I will live with it any way. Don't mean to be negative about the product. Amazon you should remove the video that says this product has a back lit keyboard.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Toshiba Satellite U845-S402 14.0-Inch Ultrabook (Sky Silver)
I've just used it for a few days but so far very happy. The greatest thing about this computer is it's weight. It is very light and easy to carry around. I had a netbook before but decided to go for something bigger but still wanted something very portable. I don't need the dvd so I don't miss it. We use it mostly for Word and internet and it's pretty fast. Easy to set up. Only thing I don't like is the mouse buttons. They are hard to click especially right click. Other than that after adjusting the mouse speed, the mouse pad responds pretty well to my movements. People complained about the keyboard but it works fine for me.Thursday, June 26, 2014

I am rating the Acer Aspire One (AO725-0687) as 5 stars based off what it is, not what it isn't. So maybe the best place to start is to say what it isn't. It isn't an Apple Ultrabook, a tablet PC, or a google or linux machine. If you're expecting a superfast, sleek, no-thought machine then you should cough up the couple grand to get an Apple. It also isn't running linuxso if you want to be able to customize every detail then you should probably go that direction.
So what is it? It's a balanced machine, which offers good performance, and nice perks, for a minimal price. Let's be honestif you're looking at an Acer Netbook you're attracted by the price primarily. This computer gives exceptional bang for your buck. It's only $60 more (at the time of writing) than a Kindle Fire HD, but you get a real full-fledged computer, with Win 8, with 320 gig HDD, with a pretty screen, and snazzy color. What more can you expect at this price point?
For the haters of WIn 8, it's not perfect, but it's pretty good. I would say to go with Windows 7 if you want a real work horse (my work computer is a Win 7 Lenovo), but Windows 8 is a great home operating system. It's fast, fun, cool, and integrates pretty seamlessly with a lot of the mobile apps available (e-mail, pulse, netflix, amazon, etc.) The OS is nice and doesn't take long to get used to (contrary to other reviews) so long as you're willing to learn.
Bottom lineif you want something which is a balance of different factors (customizable vs. no-work, price vs. performance, "cool" vs. work machine, etc.) then you can't do betterthis is a great machine and truly a 5 star experience.
1. Uninstall all the crap that was pre-installed (McAfee, Windows 8 Apps you won't use, weird Acer programs, all 17 of those games, etc...).
2. Run Windows updates. If you've bought this new, it's really important AND it's going to take a while. Be patient. If you're nervous about any of it just create a restore point before installing.
3. Run the defrag and install whatever software you know you'll need for the duration (e.g.: iTunes, anti-virus).
4. Back it up! A note about using the Acer recovery management tool: It will tell you that you need an external hard drive with at least 16G of free space, and that it's going to wipe out everything else on the drive. This is true. In fact, it's going to partition 32G for itself, not 16G. You should partition your hard drive (split the storage) BEFORE you start this process. If you try to do it after, you'll have to reformat the entire drive and create another backup because your computer will only recognize those 32G designated for the 'Recovery' drive. You can Google 'how to partition a hard drive' if you don't know how. It's not as scary as it sounds.
A couple of things about the machine itself:
1. It doesn't have a disk drive (...but I haven't used a disk since about 2008).
2. The USB 3.0 is amazing (next to the HDMI port). So fast!
3. Some people have mentioned reduced performance when it's unplugged. I've adjusted my power settings so it's not making any changes while unplugged and I haven't had any issues, though it could just be my particular computer.
Overall, I think it's a great little computer. If you can manage to reserve judgment until you've completed some cleanup I guarantee you'll be much happier with your machine (Windows 8 aside).

Not a big fan of new windows 8, its confusing at first.. but once u get the hang of it its alright.
The setup, just type in a made up email, info, takes a little bit to setup, u have a 8digit pass that u can change too a pin number of 4, nice options features, change login in screen, colorful
this is the red version, it is flaming red, love that. Speakers are good, loud enough, i have delicate hearing so could be a little better maybe

I hate to break it to you, but this is not an Apple product that you can just take out of the box and wax poetic about. Some may find this unfortunate, but it is a Windows machine, which means that you'll have to spend some time customizing it for your performance needs. (No need to complain, we all understand how much you hate this.)1. Reviews of Apple iBook Laptop 14.1" M9388LL/A (933-MHz PowerPC G4, 256 MB RAM
I've owned three iBooks. The clamshell was a sturdy design, but heavy and limited. My G3 iBook 800 was great, worked well, but the screen was a little small (dense) and it didn't quite fit on the lap. Plus I wasn't a fan of the drive tray. So this new design is far better. It is much sturdier. They replaced EVERY material in construction for the better, improved battery life, and it is much faster. It might just be the perfect laptop at any price. For most people, it can even replace a desktop. Comes with tony hawk, plays beautifully. All other apps I have work perfectly, airport extreme is faster than airport, and keyboard is MUCH better (no longer squishy, better feedback). You will not regret buying this machine. Not sure that the 1GHz is worth the extra money. This model hits the sweet spot.
Ever since the iBook went G4, the machine took on a whole transformation. It is no longer lacking in the processor department and thus is a very "well-rounded" laptop.
As for the machine itself, it's great. The entire laptop is white, crisp white (a mixed blessing...it's elegant, but very, very hard not to dirty it), and the overall design is great. Everything is ergonomical and compact: the little latch to close the iBook stays hidden on the top, but then magically appears as you close it. (Gotta love Apple's design team for those little things!) The keyboard, unlike other models, isn't "spongy."In fact, it is rather sturdy for a laptop keyboard. It is stationed to a strong metal backboard and if you take the keyboard and backboard off, you will see a slot for an Airport Extreme card (card that enables wireless internet). No more PC "NIT" cards protruding from the sides, everything is on the inside. The top of the computer has a translucent Apple logo that glows when you are computing in the dark. The trackpad is large and precise, and the button (Windows users, beware: no "Left-clicking" in the Mac world, only "Command clicking"!) is large and responsive.
Battery life is excellent, I get an average of 5 hours with normal use. The charger has a light indicating the level of charge so you know when the 'book is charged (green for charged, amber for charging) without turning it on or waking it from its "Sleep" mode. Panther, the latest version of Mac OS X (10.3), is stunning, powerful, and reliable in its own right (go ahead and check out those reviews or Jaguar's reviews, the previous OS X version.) I don't want to go into the benefits of its UNIX core, just trust me that it is stable. The "iLife" set of software is one that really revolutionized the Apple world, after OS X, software-wise. It's all here: iTunes (store, burn, and buy music in one easy-to-use program), iPhoto (organize, burn, share, print, edit, email, and more with a plug-and-play friendly piece of software), iMovie (for editing, storing, and organizing your DV movies), but no iDVD...no DVD burner (but you can buy an external one.) Some other good programs that supplement your iLife are Mail, Appleworks, iChat, iCal, etc. It comes with World Book 2003, Quicken, and a few others.
It's fast. CD's burn with one click. My iPod (a great addition to this for music lovers) loads with one slide of a Firewire cable (literally.) Safari has built-in pop-up control (never has a single pop-up existed here.) Games (only the Sims so far) load and play flawlessly. DVD watching is pristine. USB 2.0 and Firewire (a BIG plus for external hard drives) work at top speed. No bugs, no crashes, no viruses. This machine was engineered to have the software and hardware be integrated. Have a problem? You won't be told to call a different company. You will always have one number to call, and they can't transfer you (since they make the hardware and software)
What more is there to say? I love my iBook! It's light, user friendly, and works like a dream. Quick! Go order one. You'll be in for a treat.
I do everything on this computer: word-processing, spreadsheets, music transcription, photo editing, Internet communications, audio editing, and managing my music collection. I have Office X, Sibelius, and iLife 2004. I run iTunes in the background, write a report integrating Excel and Word, plus can have all my pictures handy on iPhoto. I can have five or six applications running at the same time (not including iChat and MSN Messenger, which are ALWAYS running), and the processor doesn't even hiccup. I use an iPod 40G as an external hard drive (not to mention all dem kewl tunes!), and have a Canon PowerShot A80 digital camera, and an iMic audio converter. Add to that an AirPort driven wireless network and a laser printer, and you have an ultra-powerful home office for any kind of occupation, from music composition, culinary research, to communications-based businesses.
Although larger and heavier than the 12" iBook, I believe the 14" screen is definitely worth the extra weight and price. If you get it, the wireless card (AirPort Extreme) is a must. The optional built-in Bluetooth module is nice, especially if you have a compatible PDA or cell phone.
I didn't realize I would love owning a laptop. Until I met this one.
However, the reason I put five stars wasn't Apple's beautiful software marketing and design, or CompUSAs ability to move a person to consider programming a video game thats objective is strangling CompUSA employees.
The real reason is that for laptops, and for this price, it is a quality laptop. You see, I can't justify to myself paying over 1500 of a base price for a tool that I'm going to be using out of my home. At any moment it could be stolen and I am much more at peace with a loss of 1500 dollars for a top of the line iBook which can be much more readily replaced than 3000 dollars for a top of the line PowerBook.
My laptop has survived a 2 ft plus drop while open from a bed to a not so plush carpeted floor. There wasn't too much destruction done other than some of the lineing on the left edge of the screen and the battery doesn't fit as smoothly as before. Everything still works, including all the ports I use, like the USB, firewire, 56K Modem, and the Adapter port. It works fine on battery and plugged in, so I really didn't lose any functionality.
The laptop operating system doesn't break down, although it does freeze every once in a while. The software that it comes with is very useful, and handy, and not as annoying as say, windows media player.. The text editing software that it comes with is ahhhhh!!!ggrrr.. when you try to program html initially.. fortunately, after going to the preferences you can fix this loading html pages as a web browser does initial setting. iTunes is fun, and useful, and the only drawback is that it doesn't read the song encoding on CDs that Windows Media Player does. So you have to either manually type the name of the song in by hand, or buy your songs off the internet at a buck a piece. The iPhoto works fine and allows for some adjustment, but if you're into adjusting your photos, use nothing less than Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 . Photoshop might well be a waste of 600 plus dollars if you get good at Elements 2.0 . In fact.. I'd dare say Adobe Illustrator and Elements 2.0 could be a grand combo. Safari is a good browser with annoyances with interpreting java on the web. No joke, web browsers that understand Java well on the web on macs are rare as leopard seals. There is only two of them. One is the Microsoft Internet Explorer(who stopped making new IEs for mac because Safari does everything it does) and the other is Safari. Every other web browser.. say.. mozilla?? like Netscape 7.01, Firebird .7 and Mozilla and Camino seem to all be carbonized. And the problem? Well, for some reason, carbonizing does not like Java or something. No Java, no chatting, or java online gaming. So the only chatting you can do say on Yahoo is on Safari and IE. No problem, they are both free. And Safari is included with all the new macs. But for your daily web browsing, you might want to download Firebird .7 . After you get the tab browsing down and the various keyboard commands, you will find its just the best daily browser out there. It runs secure bank transactions in xml fine and quickly. As a bonus AppleWorks comes with every new iBook, so you definitely have a decent word processor. But don't be fooled with the Microsoft Office that seems to be included, Microsoft wouldn't forgoe a profit that easily. The Microsoft Office on the computer is a 30 day trial. Office X is 500 dollars. Not too much for full licensing for a single user. And well worth it if you're in college or otherwise use it frequently. Look at QuarkXPress for some serious pricing.. oww. The clock is nifty and calendar is useful, and the internet options are easily read in the upper menu bar. And for entertainment, you can talk to the computer and it will do what you say.. if you can speak it well enough for the computer.. you know.. the standard speech recognition flaw. The fun thing about all this is that you talk to the chess game and play an entire chess game by speaking alone. It's actually pretty nifty.
There is enough computer software out there for the mac, especially if you want to get work done and you work with video or images. The Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.2 don't save files quite the same way which can be a touch annoying if you are using old macs at school still. You have to specify the exact program to open this or that file between the two operating systems. This is easy enough.. as long as its only a file or two, come ten or so, and it gets a bit annoying. On the good end, it is more compatable with pcs now. There is a decent software translation of Windows XP for purchase for ultimate compatability. Wasn't too bad, but as always.. anything Microsoft runs as slow as a slug. Try a G5 if you want to run the Windows XP translation a lot. If Windows XP freezes, it doesn't freeze OS X, and thats kinda nice. Adobe has most of there popular software available on the mac, and so does Macromedia. And Living Language has their 9.0 versions of Language Lessons in plenty of European and Asian languages available on Mac. Also, if your into Video, Adobe dropped Premiere because Final Cut Pro was kicking their but in earning the market share. And if your into animation software, Cinema 4D 8.5v and Maya 5 both support mac, as well as Lightwave. So as far as getting something done, the mac is awesome.. it doesn't freeze much if you treat it decent(don't run a zillion programs at once). It simply works, and has better compatability than Linux. Although Linux rocks too, Mac OS X is a Unix base with more compatability. It is simply more compatable with stability than Linux. Microsoft Windows? Well, its compatable with a bonus of being hacked and virus wrecked and blue screened every so often. In other words... Microsoft Windows tends to limit me getting anything done.. particularly in Graphics Design degree which of course is only macs.
As far as games, of course most of the games out there are made for windows. On the other hand, many might argue that if you are a real gamer, you own an XBox or a PS2 already. Besides, Microsoft XP is available for Mac. Like I said, get a G5 for that kind of thing.
The chatting programs? Well, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and AOL instant messenger, as well as the OS X customized iChat version of AOL instant messenger that comes with any new mac. The Yahoo Messenger can't do as much as it can on Windows.. on the other hand.. it doesn't get hacked like the one on Windows, which doesn't freeze my computer, which makes my life a bit easier.
If you're into video, you should remember two things.. one, VCD format. You know, that old laser disk format that any CD burner can place on a CD-R/RW. two.. if your into business cards, the business card CD-Rs can hold video flash presentations as well. So, basically, if your not looking for 2 hour movies on a dvd, you can easily burn animations as well as edit them from the CD-Rs on the iBooks. The other detail is that 400 firewire is the only thing sold on iBooks. 800 firewire is considered 'professional'. However, although my 400 dollar Olympus digital camera can make short videos, it, like many Digital Cameras on the market, does not have firewire. In fact, that is much more likely to be restricted to digital camcorders. Such as my Digital Camcorder does have. Still, you still have to look for a firewire port, not all camcorders have them.
Hopefully, you found my review helpful. Oh, one more helpful hint. Certain Epson scanners come with Photoshop Elements 2.0 . A good piece of software with a needed accessory. I definitely recommend it. ArcSoftware is the usual accessory. Don't be fooled.. although its fun and useful, for work with multiple photos, nothing beats Elements 2.0 .
Hope you all enjoy this laptop if you buy it. Obviously every business is out to make money and Apple is no different. But Apple OS X and Apple laptops as a combo are better and more useful than nearly anything with Windows on it.

The iBook, Apple's "consumer" portable (a consumer simply being an everyday user), really has it all now: a very speedy processor, great graphics, great design (it took a few years for them to perfect this white beauty), great features (a lazy way of saying "All the other things on the machine I forgot to mention"), and most importantly, a great price.Ever since the iBook went G4, the machine took on a whole transformation. This little beauty came into my life around Christmas, and she and I have been inseparable since then. Honest reviews on Apple iBook Laptop 14.1" M9388LL/A (933-MHz PowerPC G4, 256 MB RAM
First of all, let me say that I paid the 1500 dollars in September, before they changed all the iBooks to G4s and the USB ports to 2.0 . Why is this important? Well, a few reasons. Final Cut Pro only works on G4s. I paid 699 dollars for the upgrade that my computer could certainly handle, however the software was designed to look for a G4 or G5 in order for installing. So, as that wouldn't have been too aggrivating until I tried to take it back to CompUSA which I soon found out has a zip-O-la return policy, I got a bit peeved at both CompUSA and Apple Software design. Well, within two months of my purchase the 'new' G4 iBooks were on the net to buy, and I had my answer on Apples ideas for makeing a touch more money by getting me to buy a new laptop, if I want to run something like.. oh Final Cut Pro, or some animation software on the market. However, the reason I put five stars wasn't Apple's beautiful software marketing and design, or CompUSAs ability to move a person to consider programming a video game thats objective is strangling CompUSA employees.

Looks like Apple hit a home run with this one. This has been the best upgrade since my LC. With Panther my 933 is one fast machine. I downloaded US Army and it runs that with no problems. Max out the memory and get Apple Care. With broadband this one great appliance.Thursday, June 5, 2014

This is now my fourth HP laptop. My previous one's video card went out (Long story). I needed to get a quick replacement. I found this one to be one with specs that met/exceeded that one. HP laptops had an issue with heat; the new laptops have new cooling systems and a small cooling program that will save any files and shut down the laptop before it overheats. The icon is on the system tray.
I ordered from Amazon which arrived in 2 days; while I was at school. I hated being there while it arrived.
Specs:
Windows 8 64-bit
750G HD
4G RAM
2.9Ghz to 3.4Ghz AMD Dual-Core A6-5350M Accelerated Processor
DVD optical drive
3 USB ports
1 VGA port
1 external monitor port (I have a second monitor)
Digital media card reader
Internal Microphone with HP Truecam (Whatever that is)
Touchpad
I had to install my security programs and update them on the laptop once it was setup. I'm still not a fan of Windows 8. I've brought back the Start Menu so it's like 7. Then I had to install Chrome, Firefox, iTunes, Office, etc. and updates. That took TIME.
I can't say too much about it after 2 days. So far it is a slight improvement over my old one. No complaints so far. IE however IS the complaint which has nothing to do with the laptop.
Pros: HP Cooling Tech Major plus (It's what killed my last laptop. HP Fixed it. Monitors and keeps newer laptops from overheating)
Lighter weight.
Faster processor than my previous laptop. (mine was 2.4)
Cons: None so far.
May update if things change.
Quick update: When making recovery disks: Use DVD+R. I tried using DVD-R and those did not work. With Windows 8 you can use a flash drive with a minimum of 21G, however data drives are small. Whatever your choise it's up to you. I also recommend to burn a System Repair Disk (1 DVD) which is different than a System Restore disk. Keep these in DVD cases stored away from kids in a place they can be found if needed. Make these once your computer is set up, antivirus programs, security, etc all is up and you've probably been using it about a week. I might back up any other data (Pictures, music, secure documents) on an external drive; I never keep that stuff on my computer for long in case it goes out like my last one.

First off I should state I bought this computer for schooling purposes, as well as entertainment when I'm not using it for school, which most would do. That being said, I do play video games, and I was not able to play a video game, and watch a YouTube video at the same time without my processor being at 97-99%, so if you're looking to use it for gaming with no modifications afterward you might want to look elsewhere.
The OS of Windows 8 irked me at first, but it's not too bad for the laptop when you get used to it, the 500 GB Hard Drive is pretty nice especially if you're using it for what I am where you might have some pretty hefty files. The boot up time is slow the first few times (for me at least, which was expected), but after about 2 days of using it, the boot time is around 10-15 seconds, which is not too bad.
Overall in terms of hardware, the computer can handle light tasks and heavy tasks, but not more than 1 or 2 at a time. The boot time is pretty dang good.
Software that comes on this computer is pretty standard stuff, Internet Explorer (like all windows) and things like that, but it also has Netflix installed, Kindle apps, and I believe an Amazon app as well, which was really nice seeing as I use a lot of the applications that come pre-installed.
In terms of security programs you should be using, they have apparently boosted the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender and claim you really don't need any other security program,(Though I'd get MalwareBytes or something just in case). However, it did come with Nortan Security as one of the other pre-installed programs, so maybe something like that it likes? I'm not too sure.
TL;DR / Overall:
Laptop is pretty decent, good if you're using it for School or Work, can handle a few processes at once as long as they're not too hefty like YouTube video + (Insert Generic Online Video Game here) or something along those lines. The pre-installed apps and programs are nice, and you can pretty much get on the internet as soon as you boot up the computer and do what you will (After connecting to a network of course.)The boot up is fast after the first few times, and the Windows 8 OS isn't as bad as I personally thought it would be on a laptop (I had Windows 8 the first day it came out for my desktop, and I haven't used it, AKA I wasn't a fan).
I gave it a 4/5 because it does the job I want it to which was for schooling or work, but if you're looking to use it for recreation purposes like Gaming or something along those lines, it's where this laptop has issues.
If you are finding a laptop is cheap and easy to work, I will give you some advices.

And I found Asus has a good one. That is a touchable laptop and you can discover many functions on that.

This laptop is good for student in college. Cheap, high system, fashionable.. This laptop is using AMD processor (Dual Core) and 4GB DDR5 with 500GB hard drive. It is enough for the basic needs. The disadvantage of this laptop is HDMI, this machine did not support HDMI. So, you can not plug it with Smart-TV or something else.If you are finding a laptop is cheap and easy to work, I will give you some advices.

Best Deals for Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5900 Notebook Laptop / AMD Dual-Core E-300
Warning, I had this laptop for 3 months and then it self set a BIOS password that no one knows. I contacted Toshiba about the problem and they said it was my fault for running a BIOS update suggested by their maintenance software. Toshiba refuses to acknowledge the motherboard self locked and claims since it boots to a password screen, the motherboard is working. What doesn't work is my laptop and they want me to pay $140 for a new motherboard, with no guarantee that it will not happen again. I have an HP that is 5 years old and still works great, hate I updated and went to a company that will not back its product.Honest reviews on Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5900 Notebook Laptop / AMD Dual-Core E-300

Best 15.6" Intel I5 640GB 6GB Mocha (Asus X53E-RH52) Deals
I have had some experiences with asus products, and all of these experiences have been very good. i speacially like asus motherboards for its reliability and good quality.
well, these have been good features than encourage me to try with an asus laptop, and i have to say, i am very happy with this acquisition.
The computer has excelent characterisitcs fot its price. Equipped with the potent intel proccesor core i5 2430M at 2.4 ghz and an eficcient 6GB ddr3 ram at 1333 mhz you will not have problem doing differents office tasks. It is also adecuate for entertainment proposits. I have opened until 12 youtube videos at the same time, while other minor aplications were opened, and the computer stills opereated with outstanding performance. I have not tried it in video games, so i have nothing to say about it.
Another thing i like about the computer is its good ventilation sistem. The computer keeps relatively cool the majority of the time, even under hard work. You will not notice the keyboard gets heated or something like that and it also keeps the palms of the hands rest cool.
The fans doing well its job, and are surprisingly quiet. I hardly hear them.
I personally think that the laptop looks good. it is maybe a little wider, but you have to take into account that the screen is more than 15 inches. Mine comes with a brown color surronding the keyboard and i seem that looks cool. There are other models that comes with silver instead of the brown.
On the other hand, there are some features of the laptop that i dont like very much. One of them are the location of the ac input and especially the audiphones input. If you are rigth-handed you maybe will have some issues with the cord of the audiphones annoying you when you try to use your mouse.
I would have prefered these inputs located in the rear of the laptop.
I neither dont like the touchpad very much. I mean, i am dont saying that it is a bad or low-quality touchpad, but i dont feel very comfortable when i use it. Maybe i would have liked the buttons of the touchpad be softer.
Finally, to summarize my review, In spite of some issues i have stated before, This is a very good laptop, and the possitive things strongly offset the minor negative points. For the price, this is an excelent deal, and i hope you enjoy this laptop as I doing at this moment i am writing this review.
Well packaged and fun to open, an amazing, sleek look, practical design (although the keyboard takes a little getting used to, what keyboard doesn't?)!
It goes from packed to desktop in seconds. Installing all my programs nearly simultaneously made the turbo kick in, and the machine only barely got warm to the tough while pulling more than 2.9 Ghz. All the while, the machine is as silent as a whisper. And with Windows 7 on my previous laptop, it was easy to transfer all my old files wirelessly.
Not a lot of pre-loaded junk either! Just the essentials.
(this was much easier to set up than my mom's hp probook, which required a couple calls to the hp support line).
I'm hyped that ASUS offers free cloud backup, and I love their warranty program. This is my second ASUS, and I've always been pleased with their service.
I only wish it had a higher res webcam, and that the power plug wasn't in a slightly awkward place. but to me, those aren't significant concerns. For $578, I got a beast of a machine!
I'll update later after I give it some quality time.

after a few minutes~
As a note, although for me it's not a huge deal, the glossy screen has some reflection issues if you're looking at a dark picture (like a movie) and the speakers are modest in volume (I tested with a movie trailer for The Hobbit), although there's no distortion at 100%. I'm still hyped. This is an awesome machine. It's much more lightweight than I expected, the keyboard is pleasant to use, the track pad is so smooth I can't think of a material to compare it to. I'm a mouse person and I haven't bothered to plug in my mouse in the 4 hours I've had the computer on. If you want the full package (hd webcam and roaring speakers), you'll probably have to shell out a ton more just to get them, but for less than $600 I don't think there's ANYTHING to compare with this. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!
First of all, I apologize for the quality of the video.. This is NOT something I normally do or have done before. Was worried more about showing whats going on rather than style.. Oh and I accidentally stopped itbut I dont think it matters since you see whats going on. My laptop makes that weird sound CONSTANTLY, with a messed up audio jack. If you live in a house where you have to listen to music from headphones, HUGE problem. Now, this is one of the worst laptops I have ever owned. VERY slow, I don't know what went wrong here Asus?
Now when it comes to the seller, they actually emailed me asking for a good feedback. I don't think so. After I explained I am not satisfied, they offered to take returnwhich was coolbut when they asked me what was wrong, after all these problems I am having (the noise, the messed up jack and CONSTANT BLUE SCREEN. I hadn't seen that in years, plus the warning is always about some hard drive problem) the gentleman said "sounds like a software problem". There is nothing "software" about these problems. Hardware is simply messed up. I would've returned it ages ago, but I literally just moved from NYC to Miamiand wasn't going to have an address for return. DO NOT buy this laptopnormally I love Asus, they are my best laptops.. This? Not one bit.
Updateafter less than 6 months, AC jack (not the adapter as common) but the jack, broke. Audio jack NEVER worked (feeling like somethings stuck in it) I got the AC jack repairedbroke again. Now, my old Asus that was cheaper and that I used(and abused) for 3 years, works faster than this thing (even with a crack on it)
This is absolutely the worst purchase ever made. Also, asked many repair people, all the issues were hardware.
ALSOCHECK THE OTHER 5 STAR FEEDBACKS NONE OF THEM ARE AMAZON VERIFIED PURCHASES EXCEPT ME. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT.
The webcam is very basic, but we did not buy it for that, so no issue there. I wanted a good mid-level(I5 2430M Chip) machine and I found it with this laptop. Even though this machine doesn't have a dedicated video card I have been able to play Half Life 2 with no issues; though I am sure it would not handle newer games like Skyrim, etc,etc with the intense graphics.
Amazon has the best price I have seen on this laptop, HH Gregg comes close, at Best Buy (website) this machine is around $700. I would highly recommend this machine and Asus in general....

We recently bought this laptop and have been quite happy with its performance. It has the 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge Chip I5 2430M with the integrated graphics (HD 3000) it does not have a dedicated video card. It is very well built, stays cool, and is very quite and fast. We bought this to replace a dead Compaq Presario laptop with a Duo Core AMD chip. In my opinion the Asus build quality is far superior than the Compaq/HP's that I have experienced.

Discount Dell Latitude C640 1.8/1GB Ram/40GB HDD/CDRW/DVD/WIFI/XP
A reasonable compact laptop, with a limited memory and storage, just right for a schoolkid like my nephew to take his work to and from school. nice and light weight. It does the job efficienly, no frills.
The Intel Pentium 4-M processor can use SpeedStep and other power saving techniques. When running off the battery it will drop down to a lower speed rating. When docked or back on AC power it kicks back up to the full speed. While in idle mode it barely seemed to sip the battery. This Latitude was made for business class use and thus sports a docking station connector which is a great investment if only to relieve the stress of repeated AC adapter plug-ins at home. The AC adapter from Dell uses a keyed beveled connector that looks engineered to reduce such AC plug issues that plague all laptops. The laptop is a nice black with some attempt to put a few minimal curving lines, since it was meant to appeal to a staid business environment you can expect a primarily blocky look common to PC laptops. The large medallion like silver Dell logo on the lid cover looks nice. A good solid laptop.

If anyone out there is considering purchasing a product from midwest notebooks , consider this. They are dealing with products that other people are getting rid of. I bought a dell notebook from them and within a couple of weeks I had to send it back because it kept crashing. They failed to return the disc and pamphlet that originally came with it. I told them about it and they totally ignored me. If they were local Iwould have no trouble finding a place to store it.Think twice about buying from them . I know I never will and i'm telling everyone else about them.Best Deals for Dell Latitude C640 1.8/1GB Ram/40GB HDD/CDRW/DVD/WIFI/XP
The Dell C640 may be an older model yet it is surprisingly adroit with Windows XP SP3 running 512MB of RAM. The Dell physical specs include a screen with a large LCD screen, two mouse options (eraser button mouse-stick and trackpad), the front LCD clasp is held with one button (a bit stiff on several tested, should help to keep closed however). The front bays are dual purpose media (right) or battery (right and left). Two used battery packs provided a comfortable 5 1/2 hours of light internet usage. There is a MiniPCI expansion port underneath with prewired antennae that route unseen through the LCD lid casing. Lacking a card I simply used a Belkin PCMCIA / PCCard adapter with excellent results. The keyboard was another unexpected treat with quiet but firm action. The Intel Pentium 4-M processor can use SpeedStep and other power saving techniques. Was some damage done to the laptop either during shipping or was shipped with the indention in the back corner of the laptop. The laptop does work well and came with all of the software that the seller stated would be on the laptop. I am satisfied with my purchase.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Dell Latitude C640 1.8/1GB Ram/40GB HDD/CDRW/DVD/WIFI/XP
Recieved it right on time, and it looked brand new not a wear spot anywere.I use it mainly for my magicjack phone. It would also be good for small kids to learn on. The hard drive is to small to add anything, but for my purpose its great.Monday, January 20, 2014
Best Samsung Series 5 Slim Notebook PC - AMD Dual-Core A6-4455M 2.1GHz Deals
It is actually a good laptop in this price range, everything is acceptable except its mouse pad. The other problem is with speed that relates to AMD cpu. Conclusively, I am satisfied.

Compaq 15.6" Celeron B800 1.50GHz Laptop | CQ57-339WM Review
I bought this recently for college and got it much cheaper at walmart. I also play civilization 5 and Halo 2. I upgraded the RAM to 6 Gb for now . Having 2 gb of RAM for a windows 7 laptop is a sure fire way to have problems because windows 7 takes up almost all the RAM. so what you should do is go to a local computer shop and buy some used RAM cheap. New 4gb of DDR3 RAM is less than 20 bucks,so getting it used shouldnt cost much at all and the store will probably install it free since it takes two minutes. But this laptop is great for basic use and will not over heat easily because it is a more basic processor. The graphics are crisp for playing my games and watching movies on my laptop. It also is not that heavy, in the past I have had much heavier 15 inch laptops.i like the placement of the USB ports as well and the plug/cord is smaller and light weight than in the past.I also like that the top of the laptop is flat rather than textured. The battery lasts for about four hours on power saver, which is good for a low end laptop. The keyboard is alittle different than I am use to but that isn't a big deal to get use to. Overall,if your using this for basic things like watching movioes, playing older games, lower end new games, office productivity, and other basic uses this is the laptop for you.Compaq is the generic laptops HP makes and rtecently HP has really ramped up quality with its new CEO. HP also will pay for the upgrade to windows 8; if you pay 14.99 to upgrade HP will refund you the cost of the upgrade. I wouldn't touch windows 8 myself, there are alot of changes and complaints are starting to pile up about windows 8. I installed vista home basic 64 on this after I got it.
If you do lots of tasks that require more processing power, or speed, obviously you would need to look for a more powerful system, and expect to pay accordingly.
The computer performs great. It is quick and brought good applications

I got one of these for $279. For the price, and for my purposes, it does what I want it to do (I have a more powerful system for heavier tasks). I upgraded the memory to 8 gigabytes and the laptop is responsive and capable. I would look at this laptop for a teen who is not into heavy gaming, or for someone wanting a reasonably priced system for word processing, surfing the net, and other routine tasks. If you do lots of tasks that require more processing power, or speed, obviously you would need to look for a more powerful system, and expect to pay accordingly.
