Good laptop, the sandy bridge i5 is very nice, plenty of room on the hard drive but it is much slower than what i am used to (im used to ssd's and 7200 rpm drives in raid, so that is a little biased), i would upgrade it with a 7200 rpm drive i already have, but it has a "warranty void if removed" sticker over the plate to replace that, so that will wait, the touch pad is annoying, very sensitive (i misclicked 7 times while writing this review), case feels like very brittle plastic, will post/update after a year or so with more information.

I had THIS laptop for 1 year and it was stolen last January. I am still grieving. I agree that the CASE is the worst feature cheap and too pliable for a large screen laptop. But, I NEVER found it slow. Just the opposite... After my Audi A4, This was the cleanest, fastest, most consistent machine I've ever owned. After a year+ of hard business use and lot's of file storage and adding Office and storing music and audio books... it never bogged down!!!

I would recommend this model and the amazing i5 chip in a heartbeat and am considering buying an old used one even though technology has changed much since then. Instead I bought a "convertible" Windows 8 machine and I HATE it. (Don't buy an HP Envy 2x piece-o-crap)

BTW: There is a patch-fix for the touchpad issue. I called msi customer service (which was FAST, REAL, and GREAT) and they sent me a link to an after-market patch that fixed the touchpad issue.

I had this laptop for a little over a year and now the laptop won't charge the battery. I was told by MSI it would cost around $250 to fix the motherboard. I've decided to take my money and buy a new laptop from a different company. Stay away from MSI.
