I bought this business laptop for my personal use two weeks ago. I'm so impressed with its performance. Typing is really fun on this laptop! It takes a bit of time to get used to the keyboard as my older keyboards are quite different than Lenovo's.

The red pointer in the middle of the keyboard is extremely helpful! I don't think I will ever use the regular mouse-pad.

This laptop comes with a Intel i5 processor, 500 GB of hard disk and 4 GB of Memory; perfect specifications for my daily use.

What I really liked about this laptop also is how quiet it is! You hear no noise at all. The fan seems totally mute! The laptop does not get hot at all even after many many hours of usage!

Lenovo is surely a great company who knows how to manufacture laptops that will last for long times. Their ThinkPad line of laptops in my opinion is the best.

If you are looking to buy a laptop with a decent price, I recommend this one.

This is the one! I spent a lot of time researching a replacement for my 4 year old 17" Toshiba Satellite. I was impressed with a colleague's ThinkPad that I used a couple weeks ago and decided to look for a Lenovo rather than what would have been my third Toshiba. What made this particular E520 stand out was its Intel Core i5 processor and low price. There are many E520s with the Core i3 processor and also many E525s with AMD's Fusion processor for slightly lower prices, but they are both entry level entry level processors. I probably don't need the extra processing capability of the i5 but it is nice to know that it is there and I always try to buy things that are slightly better than middle of the road.

The 4GB of RAM is plenty, but a 4GB upgrade was only about $20.00, so I went ahead and ordered to max out the system. Windows 7 Professional, Bluetooth, and the fingerprint reader are nice extras that you won't likely elsewhere for the sub-$600 price tag.

Amazon Marketplace's partner Abe's of Maine exceeded my expectations by promptly shipping my order, I received it one day ahead of Amazon's earliest delivery estimate.

Being a self-taught techie I have used, abused and destroyed many top shelf quality products. I currently work in very unforgiving and hostile environments, with heat, dirt, dust, moisture and more mosquitos than I know what to do with. Over the years I have had the top of the line laptops such as Asus Pro, HP Elitebook, Panasonic Toughbook and the infamous Getac. All were great laptops, most were milspec but eventually they all had issues. Cheap parts would break prematurely, Hard Drives burn out, optical drives quit working. Last year I wound up down range with my Panisonic tough book and started having major issues. On my next trip through the states I ordered a Lenovo W520. This was a lot heavier than expected with the 120w charger and large long lasting battery pack, but a year later is near indestructible. It has been to the mountains in the cold, deserts in summer and on planes, trains and automobiles. The most taxing of which are the family road tirps where the kids in the back seat are using it for a movie player. When my wife needed a new laptop I didn't hesitate and shop around trying to get the best deal I could, I when straight for Lenovo again. This time I settled on the less rugged E520 series. Amazingly I stumbled upon the best price I could and bought hers for aroud $550 from Amazon. The seller had it shipped and delivered in 56hrs and my wife was back on line and skyping with me by the end of the week. This machine is not the best on the market but for the price it is a very good value. Thus far it has survived a toddler juice incident that her old HP or Ideabook would have taken like Fukushima meltdown. My personal W520 has drains in the keyboard for these, the E520 does not but has some technology that helps in these situations.

Though Lenovo is not the best on the market I feel they are one of the top line manufactures. If you are looking for a very well built machine that is tough and can take abuse look no further.

Laptop is okay for it's price. But I want to write about the warranty lenovo provides.

After 10 months of use, mouse pad started behaving differently. So I created case with Lenovo as my Laptop was still covered under warranty. My case was pending with billing department for review (Though I never got the call for this). When I called them up after 8 days, they said that they found substance inside the laptop; hence it's not covered under warranty. And biggest joke that repair cost will be 900 dollars.

My first reaction was that I got it for 500 dollars and they want me to pay 900 dollars for repair. What on earth this makes sense !!

I had also sent the new keypad in the box and requested them to replace my old keypad with new one as some of the keys had come out. That also they were not ready to do. ALL or NOTHING.

Okay.. Then I requested, do not repait my laptop; Just swap the keypad. BUT NO. They Cannot. ALL or NOTHING.

Pissed off and asked them to send my laptop back unrepaired.

DO NOT Suggest LENOVO to anyone for it's sheer unwillingness to help Customers !!

Never experienced such bad support in my life yet .....

Lenovo Thinkpad E520 that were manufactured in the last quarter of 2011 have a faulty EEPROM chip. This means eventually the laptop won't start up. Lenovo has recognized there is a problem, but will not replace the faulty chip if the laptop is out of warranty. My E520 was two months out of warranty when it quit working. Lenovo informed me I will have to pay them to replace the chip that was faulty in the first place. Beware!!

I didn't bought that laptop in Amazon, but I like it so much that I decided to write here.

It's fast. 4GB of RAM and newest processor are making everything smooth.

It's light. My friend has ultrabook that has more weight.

It has a good battery life. I'm using it with balanced battery option and with 50% of brightness. I can work from 4 to 5 hours. When I read that it has 2500mAh I thought it will not work that much. But new power saving processor does its work! And it charges for 1-2 hours.

It has 500GB of memory. It shows 464GB 14GB for Windows = 450GB of free space!

Video card is not bad. I'm not gamer, but I like to play some light games. It works just good.

It's not hot. That's a good thing for me because my last laptop was really hot.

It has big screen. Good for watching movies, especially in 1080p.

Bad things are: Fingerprint collecting back side + near-mouse sides. Backside of my laptop also has scratch, but I can't say that I'm careful user.

Speakers in not good place. They are under laptop and can be closed while on legs.

No CD/DVD drive. But it has slot for it.

Unuseful preinstalled software.

"Social" button is not configurable.

I bought this laptop for 350 dollars and it's excellent price. And it worth 400 dollars that they want. I didn't expected that much from it. I'm using it for homework, browsing and watching movies. And it does its work.

NOTE: My Gateway NE52204u was purchased at OfficeMax.

So my dad bought himself a laptop last week and when he found a better one on clearance at Walmart, he decided to give me the one he got last week. It was a Gateway NE52204u from OfficeMax (they had a deal where if you purchased $50 worth of merchandise, you could get this laptop for $250 instead of the normal $400). As you can see, it's a quad-core CPU clocked at... 1.5 GHz. That is low, really low. The video card is an integrated Radeon HD 8330 with 500 MB of dedicated memory and 2GB total memory. 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Definitely looks scarily low-spec'd.

After I fooled around with it though, I was quite surprised. The 1.5 GHz processor is still relatively fast, and could always be overclocked (provided you know what you're doing and are doing it safely). And as a gamer, the Radeon HD 8330 is better than I expected. I play Skyrim (tweaked a bit of course) on low-medium at about 25-30 FPS which is definitely playable. If you're a power gamer who has to play everything on Ultra at 60 FPS, look elsewhere. But it's surprisingly decent for such a low end GPU.

The speakers are the weakest part of this laptop. They are kinda quiet, even at 100% volume. There is always the option of using the conveniently placed headphone jack, of course.

The HD webcam is pretty good. I tested it with Skype and YouTube's recording page. Of course YouTube's recorder could make terrible video from any webcam, but the Skype video feedback seemed very responsive, almost 1:1 movement to reaction. Thumbs up on the webcam.

The battery life is quite good. It gets about 5 or more hours of normal browsing use (gaming and watching videos would cut it down a bit of course). It is a 4-cell lithium ion battery for those who are wondering.

The hard drive is 500 GB. Not terrible, especially for a low-end laptop. There's a bit of bloatware when you first get it, but it shouldn't take long to get it all off.

The LED screen is great. Glossy finish, very bright. 15.6" size, native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixelated.

As a bonus, this laptop does have Bluetooth, a great thing to see for guys like me who like tinkering with BT devices.

And finally, the Operating System is Windows 8, which in all honesty once you get used to it, isn't really all that bad. In fact, it may contribute to why this thing seems so fast at 1.5 GHz.

Overall, this laptop has surprised me in a good way. Would I like an ultimate gaming laptop? Someday yes. But this is definitely serviceable for now.

I bought this as a replacement for my wife's machine. It seems to have a hard time staying connected to wifi even when every other device in the house has no issues. It also came with Windows 8 which is the worst version Microsoft has created so far. I am considering spending another 100$ to replace it with Windows 7 Pro. If I had to do it over I would spend an extra 100-200$ and get a better machine.

This computer is byfar the BEST laptop I've ever had. Being a college student it was imperative that I find something cheap but good. And the fact that I was able to find a Mac at such a low price still amazes me. I got mine today and it works like a dream! You can surf the web incredibly fast. Save alot of music, plays dvd's nice and crisp. Wireless is very simple and easily acessible. I just love it and I would recommend it to anyone!

This little white computer rocks. Don't know where they got them from, and how they are able to sell them for so cheap. I hope they didn't fall off the back of a truck. (Just Kidding.) I'm very impressed, though. I've been a Mac user for 8 years. This is just another example of Macs great craftsmanship. I would suggest this Mac to anyone who wants to have everything and be up-to-date in the Mac world without paying $1,2000 and up. There's only a few minor suggestions I have: download the newest software after installing Mac OS X Tiger (It costs about a $100 bucks.), google search Firefox and install it, and go to apple.com and search in the support section for this Mac, iBook G4, so you can get the user's manual. That's about it, and it will be running like you paid $1,400 for it.

And where are the blemishes!!??? I didn't see any. Awesome deal, awesome Mac. You guys rock!!!

So, guess its up to you, if your an apple fan, and already familiar this is a great product, and for those of us who havent a clue about the apple software etc..this is a real pain to convert. I bought this laptop on a whim when my acer timeline x broke.

It was the cheapest ultrabook that I've ever seen, $490 is what I paid including shipping.

First of all, this laptop is extremely fast and very attractive in person.

I am NOT disappointed at all. I kept seeing reviews about a wifi issue.. ?

I do not have one. I'm about 60 feet away from my router, and my speed is like lightening.

Anyone considering getting a Windows 8 pc should know to disable the gestures.

It is not the laptop with the problem.. its the windows 8 software that's annoying.

If you swipe the trackpad the wrong way it will pop into something else.

Once I disabled the gestures, I no longer have any issues.

Edit on Feb 6, 2013: I reduced number of stars from four to three because of a small bug and lenovo has not found a solution for it yet.

If you start using MS Office products, the synpatics touch pad loses its advanced ability to scroll, gestures etc. This makes scrolling very annoying. In general the touch pad program exits and does not come back until you manually restart it from the Program files or restart the computer, and then it loses the ability as soon as you start working on MS Office. There have been several complaints about it online, but it has not been resolved even in the latest update.

I bought it on Frys for $598. It is still expensive at most stores. This is a very light and good computer. The battery can actually last for more than 5 hours. I have still not gotten used to Windows 8 so there is no point in reviewing that. The laptop is light and doesn't get warm.

This is a very nice machine running under Win 7 Pro, typical of the quality you get when you buy Lenovo. Compact, with a 14-inch screen, but I can actually see things easily, which surprised me. I was ready to hook her up to a large wide-screen monitor, which I will still do, but for the moment, as I am getting her updated with my work projects, I can see the text just fine.

The keyboard is one of those nice ones Lenovo makes. However, for reasons unknown, where the CTRL key should be on the left side, they put an Fn key, with the CTRL key to the right of it. Already it has caused me so much aggravation that I pulled out a wireless keyboard to use. That really annoyed me as the Lenovo keyboard is usually a pleasure to type on.

This ThinkPad is very light. I can easily pick her up with one hand, and I'm a little old lady, not a body builder. Usually I do not move my laptops from room to room, as I have other computers set up around the house, but this one is going to be moving around with me due to her lightness and incredible speed.

One thing that irked me is this ThinkPad is filled with bloatware, Lenovo-created bloatware. That's a first for me. One of the reasons I have been so turned on to Lenovo was the lack of bloatware and how little time I had to expend to get her ready for work. All of my computers are online 24/7 because I work online, so reliability is a must.

Regardless of my few cons, I would recommend this machine to anyone who needs speed and a lot of memory. For me, Lenovo has proven to be reliable, machine after machine. This is the fifth Lenovo I bought in the past 12 months, and is surely a star, exceeding my expectations.

I recently ordered this laptop with fairly low expectations. I needed a device that I could word process on/browse the web, maybe I'd use it to listen to music or watch a movie on the go. All in all, fairly low impact computing. I figured at this price point I could get a machine that runs Office/Firefox with no hassles. I figured wrong. I should have known what I was in for when the laptop crashed the first time I tried to launch a windows 8 application from the new metro interface, after being forced to hard reset my brand new laptop less than an hour after opening it I was able to get the thing into desktop mode, which is where the real problems developed. About every 5 minutes or so the laptop will lock up for around 10 seconds, a look into the task manager revealed the culprit, disk usage was constantly spiking to 100% while nothing was going on. I tried troubleshooting I removed some of the crapware, and norton (which is another problem, this machine is bogged down with crap that no normal person would ever want), this didn't fix the issue, I doubled the size of the virtual memory, this didn't fix the issue. Finally I tried disabling Windows Automatic Indexing, this not only didn't resolve the issue, on restart I found myself trapped at the black screen of death. Attempts to do a system restore/factory resets were an exercise in frustration (fun fact, if you need to do a system restore you apparently need to use a USB mouse as the trackpad lets you move the mouse but not click, should you not have a mouse then I guess you're S.O.L.). I tried the "faster" system restore a second ago and it did absolutely nothing. I'm now awaiting the results of the longer "full" factory reset but I have no hope at this point.

Lenovo used to have a reputation as a quality manufacturer, this laptop disagrees with that reputation, I don't know if it's a result of Lenovo slipping, the abomination that is windows 8, or an unholy matrimony of the two, but the end result is a product that I instantly regret purchasing and one that I would never recommend to anyone.

Best Lenovo ThinkPad T400 7417 Deals

If you're like me and can't live without the ThinkLight or pointer mouse then the new T line is for you. With the new 25w mobile cpu (P8400 in my case) it runs cool enough to not need an additional platform cooler while on your lap (it doesn't blow hot air either). From the first reports they must have repositioned the Thinklight because my doesn't blind me (it's inside the bezel more now I think). You might want to download the additional Keyboard Customizer program from Lenovo to disable the forward and back web keys that are next to the Up arrow. I kept pressing them by mistake and causing all kinds of problems.

Pros: Thinklight. pointer mouse (hate those aweful touchpads! disabled mine). thin and light. Great battery life even with just 6 cell. Single latch switch. Cool running cpu. Bought through Ebay (ellan_mouse) for only $750 after 10% ebay discount with no tax or shipping charges (now that's a deal!). Keyboard feels the same (not flexy like other reports). XP Pro still available.

Cons: Screen off to the right, widescreen (I like tall more than wide), lcd screen not the brightest and bad off angle viewing (might be good for security and keeping peepers away though). Had to install program to disable keyboard buttons (forward/back web page buttons). Speakers sound tiny. I don't know if it's my Airlink 150N router but I'm only getting 72Mb top speed from its 5100N wireless. Not as easy to add memory as older units (must remove keyboard bezel now).

Seems like a lot of Cons but at this price I am not complaining. I have a huge home system so my T400 is just a stripped down unit with XP Pro (not whista), only 1 gb of memory (everything running uses less than 700 Mb), intel video, dvd only reader (I use flash drives and only burn dvds on my home unit). Didn't make sense to pay another $300 for options (video, burner) that my home unit can do better and faster. I still use the T400 way more at home for doing most things. I just got the T400 so I don't know if it will last as long as my old T22 has (still running when I sold it) but I hope so! It may not be the prettiest unit but it's light, fast, cheap and practical for the discriminating user.

If you want a performance laptop with durability and reliability, look no more. ThinkPads have been the top of the line laptops for IBM and now Lenovo. I bought this for half the price of what a MacBook Pro costs and performed some easy installation upgrades such as Solid State drive and 8GB of Ram. With a Macbook you have to do a bit more work just to perform these tedious upgrades (Apple doesn't like it when you open up their products).

This Laptop is lightning fast, the keyboard is a joy to type on, speakers are great, webcam view is clear and the very cool thing about this laptop is the Ultra bay hot swap. If you don't use the CD/DVD recordable drive as much, you can easily eject it by pressing the Ultra bay eject tab and insert an additional battery or an extra hard drive for backups. This feature is very very cool and you can't do that on a MacBook Pro!

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit runs flawlessly (thanks to Microsoft)and by far is the best Windows version Microsoft has ever built. The BitLocker encryption is a plus which allows you to encrypt USB, SD cards, folders, files or the hard drive itself for extra protection. But if you want security, this laptop has another cool feature..it has an accurate fingerprint reader that allows you to associate any finger with your password(s). In other words, no more typing passwords to log into Windows. When you boot up your laptop, it prompts you to swipe your finger and presto! Without the finger swipe, no thief or intruder can wipe or access or remove your hard drive without that finger print. You can't do that on a Macbook Pro!!

Finally, I love the so called rollcage technology (durable frame inside)that guards it from those accidental drops. It also has a cool drain technology for those accidental spills...you can't do that on Macbook Pro!

So do yourself a favor, if want want more bang for your buck with all these extra goodies and performance, get a ThinkPad! I also highly recommend uninstalling any Lenovo software you may not want to use just to free up some space. I only use Lenovo update software, Fingerprint and Power Manager. Those are all you need!

$1600 for top of the line ThinkPad with goodies vs. $2200 for a Macbook Pro (without SSD or 8GB Ram)....the choice is obvious!

I ordered this ThinkPad T400 on Friday night and I received the laptop at 2:00pm on the next following Tuesday. What could I ask for more with the $220.18 high-end laptop, with no tax, free and fast shipping, and especially it runs so much quieter and so much more reliable than my over-$1800-customized-order HP Pavilion dv9700t CTO (it has been crashed like crazy because of the conflict motherboard and Nvidia Geforce GPU, HP has dropped the ball !) ?!

-The laptop came with clean installation and a copy of authentic Windows-OS Disc as refurbished condition from Tampa-Laptop.

I purchased my computer new back in the summer of 2008. This has been one of the best computers I have owned. I usually replace my computers every three years however this one works so great I see no reason to make the change. This computer gets heavy use and works like new. Its on in my household between 2-4 hours a day without a single issue. This is my 4th Lenovo, replacing my older T61, and I was thinking about a T410 and see no need. Nothing special (besides tablets) has been developed to justify a new purchase. I would highly recommend the Lenovo T400.

This little laptop is great. Since I rarely use a disc drive except to load programs and drivers, this is perfect for me, It has an ll.6" screen, weighs about 3 pounds, and Windows 7 profesional 64 bit, so I now have loaded 4 Gb of RAM. It is a very fast laptop, doesn't heat up like my old one, and the battery gives over four hours of use on a single charge.

This notebook is cute, tiny, and extremely portable. I look forward to using this as my daily development machine, once the new wifi card arrives... (see below)

The graphics performance is what you would expect: slightly better than a modern integrated card. This is not a gaming laptop by any means, but it packs enough power to run less demanding OpenGL games and demos. It is capable of playing 1080p video in Windows (haven't tried in Linux yet).

This laptop may have either a Broadcom or Realtek wireless card. If you plan to use Linux with this laptop and end up with the Realtek card, be ready to replace the card. There is a whitelist, but there are ways around it.

All in all, I would recommend this if you love Thinkpads and low-profile laptops.

Being a college student who needs access to a computer almost every day for a variety of tasks, I was in the market for a laptop with relatively high processing power and good battery life. When I stumbled on the Toshiba Portege R835-P84, I knew it was the perfect laptop for my needs. I have had it for almost a year and could not be more satisfied. The main pros about this little machine are this:

-it has an Intel i5 processor (2.40 GHz, 3.00 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology) which allows it to boot up very fast and can handle multiple programs running at once with ease

-it has a 640 GB hard drive capacity which is quite impressive for such a small computer, it means I don't need to consider an external hard drive to store school file

-the battery life is awesome...I have been achieving about 6-7 hours w/o charging and thats while the computer is being used for writing papers, browsing the web, you name it

-it weighs just over 3 pounds and is super compact (I don't even feel it in my backpack)

-despite being a 13-inch laptop and weighing only 3 pounds, it still has a CD/DVD drive!

-comes standard with a spill resistant keyboard and HDMI port

-if the computer senses an impact, the hard drive is automatically shifted into a safe position so that files are not lost (it is actually quite sensitive and you can hear it happen if you pick up the laptop quickly or abruptly...however this feature can be disabled easily by going into the settings)

-the frame is very sturdy and feels solid when carried

-it's Energy Star Certified and has a really cool Toshiba Eco program where you can monitor power usage in watts and adjust power settings depending on your needs

The few cons are the following:

-doesn't come with Bluetooth (I don't understand why not, but I don't really use it that anyway)

-the keys on the keyboard are kind of flat and may take getting used to...I did and now love writing papers with it

-the speakers are average

-the left and right click buttons are rather loud when clicked, I usually tap the touchpad for left click

Overall, you probably can't find a better laptop in this price range and I really enjoy working or just having fun with it. I think this laptop is equal to and beats the MacBook in many aspects including processing and features, and at less than 2/3 the price, it's definetely a good bargain.

I bought this laptop a few weeks ago. The laptop is almost the same as the P81/p56x version, but was sold at lower price because of many sellers. It's very light in hand, the color is what I like. The only issue I found is that the keyboard doesn't feel as good as my old Thinkpad T61. But for a 13" laptop, I shouldn't complain about it at all.

The screen is SOOOO dim I can not read text. I had a D 600 for 9 years. My unit was trashed by an exceptionally visous person. I KNOW what it should look like and my computer tech agrees with my accesment. The fact that I am visually impaired dose not limit use of all other computer. I bouught one in 1979 10 meg $27,000; one in 1982 $3,500; one in 1983 $5,000 (with printer); one in 2000 $2,300; one in 1998 $2,300 [dell 600]; 2001 $4,000 [really loaded]. I KNOW what a screen should look like. EVERY computer, some monochrome, I have owned is aproximately 10 times better than this defective unit!

I purchased this from TigerDirect.com and the product description page stated that it weighs 4.56 lb. It weighs at least 5.5 lb and probably closer to 6 lb. For that weight you can get a 15" ultrabook that will cost less, comes with a new 3rd generation Core i5, a HDMI port, and has a nicer screen. Contacted TigerDirect to return it but you have to get an return authorization from HP first. FYI, I tried to post this review on the TigerDirect.com website but the review never showed up...

No problems is the most impotant thing when you buy something mailorder and this computer had none. Like most of you, I don't set up a new computer very often. Windows 7 on the HP did not have everything installed like my previous Acer had. I didn't know where to find how to do particular things. There was no written docs or instructions in the box. For example. To intall games if you type into the search box: Turn Windows Features On or Off and follow the instructions you'll bring them to life. If you're a geek, you probably know that's how to do it. If you don't play with computers you have a problem of what to do to install games. I ran across that info on a forum by accident. The computer is fine for what I want it for and it's not games. For me Microsoft is where the fog is by it's assuming I know how their new whiz bang works over a previous version of Windows.

I am now returning my second EliteBook 8460, both purchased new from Tiger Direct and both having developed driver problems within the first week of usage. The first computer seemed to be missing the MSVCR80.dll driver from the outset. The problem came to light as an error message when I installed a relatively new Epson printer that works smoothly with other HP computers that also have Windows 7. I spent 2 hours on my own trying to download and install the driver from an on-line driver library and then 2 hours working with HP Customer Support, who finally gave up and provided the authorization needed to return the computer to Tiger Direct. I assumed the first computer simply had a manufacturing defect and didn't think twice about ordering again. Tiger Direct was cooperative with the return; and promptly shipped another EliteBook. The second computer seemed to be operating without problems both before and after I installed my Epson printer; however, the same missing MSVCR80.dll driver message showed up on the heels of several Windows updates HP Support Assistant listed as "important". Again I spent a couple of hours unsuccessfully trying to download the missing driver from an on-line library. As a last resort I decided to take the computer to a local PC repair shop and let the guys there take a look. But, before I had the chance to take it in several more Windows updates installed after which my computer screen went almost blank. There was no start menu, no desk top, and no ability to get on line. I called HP support once more and worked with a representative for an hour and a half, who then finally gave up and issued an authorization to return the second computer. The next day I used my slow but reliable netbook in a web search that produced instructions sufficient to partially troubleshoot the problem myself. I was able to access enough of the computer's functionality to restore the system to a point right before the last group of Windows updates were installed. Although the computer appears normal, I still have error messages that HP Assistant and several other maintenance functions aren't working properly. My fingerprint reader no longer works; and I am no longer able to print from the computer because the .dll driver never did successfully download. Needless to say, I am frustrated and disappointed. I specifically wanted a computer with Windows 7 instead of 8. I would have been quite happy with the size and processing speed of this computer and not bothered that it's a bit on the heavy side. I also like it's steel construction, it's spill-resistant keyboard, and the responsiveness of the touch pad and the keys themselves. The only feature I would have added, besides the missing driver of course, is a back-lit keyboard. If I knew a third attempt would result in a new EliteBook with the driver problem resolved, I wouldn't hesitate to try again. Under the circumstances, I can only give it two stars.

i have purchased several (20+) HP 8460p and 8470p elitebooks from both CDW and Amazon. All work very well out of the box.

i have in the recent months started to replace the included hard drive with an SSD from Samsung. this upgrade was cheap, $150 or so and caused an extreme bump in performance.

if you like the hp security software that comes with the laptop, merely restore the system with the included recovery disks. i on the other hand rebuild from an already built image that includes the most recent drivers and default software that my office runs.

the solid casing and robust batteries are a definite plus with this laptop. it has an "elite" feel and quality about it. you can get the same feel from apple and samsung but their laptops will cost you upwards of $1200.

my one complaint with this laptop is the cheapness of the integrated camera led. the pop out button is cheap and often sticks in the open position the more they are used. i have gotten around this issue by closing it with small pieces of duct tape or electrical tape. my newer 8470p elitebooks dont seem to have this issue.

i am writing this review to counter the terrible reviews made here by absolute novices. if you have to sit on tech support with hp for two hours to fix a driver issue with an epson printer, or windows, you shouldnt be blaming the laptop....you should be blaming the driver compatibility or the windows install. none of these reported issues actually had to do with the hardware except for maybe one where the fellows screen died and that will happen to any laptop no matter the price.

I'm a software developer and data engineer. I needed to cut down the compile times of a very large project I'm working on. I did 2 things that made this an amazing laptop. #1 I replaced the hard drive with a 512mb SSD drive. #2 I opted to upgrade the 4th gen Intel cpu to 3.7 GHz. It's wicked fast. It's quiet. It's great on battery life. The software shipped with the product installed by HP is not annoying like Dell's software. The screen is beautiful. The beats audio sound system is great. The graphics card runs my 2 monitor setup perfect and is snappy. Whatever cpu you choose, just make sure it's the 4th generation (I'm pretty sure all HP Envy's at the moment are).

It's light-weight and easy to carry. Bonus: when I close the laptop it cuts power to my USP Laptop cooling pad.

I just love it. It's saving me about 1 hour of productivity a day.

Got this notebook for a month about. In general it is very cool, fast, beatiful and impressive, BUT yesterday WEB-camera stopped working. I had to read a lot of forums about resolving this issue. Half people says that it's software bug but another one says that it is hardware ill. I tried only one option which look more preferable: Turn off PC un-plug battery push power button for 15 seconds put battery back and turn on PC -> issue resolved. I very hope that it will not happen again because I feel myself very unpleased when you spend >1200$ and WEBcamera become unavailable.

I wish this had a non-matte/anti-glare screen like they used to have. And that the touchpad was centered to the machine and not the 10key layout.

Those two things aside this was a sweet little machine and a great addition to my equipment. I'm a videographer so I often have programs for movie making, conversion and photo editing open and working at the same time. iTunes or Netflix is usually running too, so its a lot! but the processor is fast and it hasnt crashed or faltered once. Very happy so far.

Received this beautiful laptop but it had one major defect...the keyboard. The left side was raised up and the right side was flat. When typing with two hands it had an off feeling. This is not the first time I have had this issue with HP laptops in the last year. Returned laptop to Amazon. Very disappointed.
