When I received my computer, I thought (since I was new to touchscreen and Windows 8) that it was my own inability to adjust. I showed it to an IT friend of mine and he immediately said the touchscreen was bad, which caused all sorts of other issues. I sent it back to Dell. I was originally told it would take one week but now it's been two with no word as to what they are doing. Apparently they haven't worked on it at all. I have received numerous phone calls, all with a thick East Indian accent "apologizing"-but NOTHING happens! Had I realized how bad Dell support would be, I would have returned directly to Amazon.
This was my first Dell. I'll update my review if anything changes. But, I would not recommend.
Edit 10/12/13: After many hours and much difficulty, I received my laptop back from Dell.
I've had it back several days and have to say it's a great laptop. Startup is fast and nimble, the speakers are great and it's just the right size, not too big, not too small. It's nice looking, feels comfortably solid but light.
Windows 8 is surprisingly easy with the touchscreen (now that my laptop works properly). You can indeed do everything with windows 8 as you did with windows 7 and much, much, more. I had read nothing replaces the old startup menu and I disagree. From the new start screen, start typing anything-like "my computer" and the location pops up and you can pin it to your taskbar etc...so easy.
If I have no further repair issues, I'll be a very satisfied customer.
They say Dell has a low failure rate but but if yours is one, they truly do have a terrible tech/repair system....I changed my review from 1 star to 4 stars since Dell did finally come through. And it is an excellent laptop & value.

I was skeptical of Windows 8 but with the touch screen its has been really great. this laptop has been the easiest setup I have ever experienced. would definitely recommend to anyone!!!!! It does take a bit to find everything but its not nearly as scary as some of the reviews i have read. The power brick is more of a power bar. It's like the size of a nutrigrain bar. Bluetooth. Decent speakers. Great looks. Feels well-built and has a solid weight to it. This isn't an utlra-light ultra-book. Windows 8......everyone hates it, but my impressions are positive. However, this is a touchscreen laptop, so that may be why. I wouldn't recommend having windows 8 without the touch screen. Haven't tested out any games on this yet but even with a standard integrated Intel HD card, you should be able run more than a few games on this considering the 8 gigs of memory. As long as your not a hardcore gamer and have the spare coin to spend on a i7 touchscreen laptop, this is a solid buy. I really don't know where you could go wrong with this. Wellll, maybe the lack of blueray if that's your thing, but then again, the screen is 720p. I greatly like Dell Inspiron. The configuration of the machine is great and offers excellent performance. The touch works flawlessly too.I only had few problems in connecting to Wireless. The wireless sometimes drops connection abruptly.

The laptop came with a dead pixel just in the center of the screen! And when I asked Dell to replace it, they said it is normal, that unless you have 3 or 4 the won't do anything. I asked for a new laptop and they said THEN they could fix it, but the wouldn't guaratee that it wouldn't come with any dead pixels! Chrome runs kind of slow, and the wifi antenna is not very powerful.
