Had the laptop for 10 months, sat on my desk and barely used it. I can not even justify needing it, with as little as I have used it for. however, the hinge on the left side broke and is out of warranty for a damage issue, (according to them) I like so many others on the website at Toshiba . com / forums are upset and this issue is common.

repair for a broken hinge, aka their terrible quality will run me 390.00 dollars to repair. give me a break, I paid 600 bucks for the thing. a hinge is half the price??? get real Toshiba or bent rather.

stay away from all things Toshiba.

Do NOT buy this product. Like so many other customer, I too have a broken hinge. I cant get anyone to help me from Toshiba's customer support center, so I went to a 3rd party repair shop. It will cost you between $150 to $200 to have this fixed. I am in grad school and depend on a computer to do all of my work at home and in the classroom. DO NOT buy toshiba for reasons of poor quality, workmanship, and the customer service support you will get (which is non existant).

Still enjoying my notebook. It's so cool, only I haven't been able to upgrade to windows 8. One day I sure will be able to do that. So light and lovely. Yea!

I bought this computer for my daughter about 15 months ago. 13 months after the purchase, one of the hinges broke and Toshiba will do nothing about it since it was officially past the 12 month warranty period. After searching the internet for a fix, this appears to be a VERY common problem with this computer.

I have been a Toshiba advocate, purchasing several computers from them, until now. It is clear that Toshiba will not recognize they are producing low quality products. I guess it is a great thing that we can vote with our dollars and choose other products in the future! Too bad for Toshiba, they have just been voted off my island!

If you buy this product, go in with your eyes open! Good luck!

My left hinge also broke after light usage which caused the bezel to pop loose and break. Toshiba repaired everything under warranty although I had to send it in twice and I did have to pay for shipping once. Customer service was actually very good, but burned up a lot of time naturally. Took around 6 weeks total as I recall.

I also had the same issue that another person wrote about with the cursor jumping all over and windows minimizing for no reason. I was able to fix that with some configuration changes after researching the issue via google.

Otherwise it has been great. Runs flawlessly, quiet, and cool. Battery life is good and it's very light. Not the sturdiest of construction, so best to keep travel abuse to a minimum.
