I had a four year old Acer Travel Mate 6292 laptop which served me well over the years. It started to overheat and the fan is almost always at maximum RPM. So i decided to go for a new laptop. My requirements were simple: Light, fast and with good battery. I had previous experiences with laptops with such specifications (Sharp PC-MM20) that had major comprises on at least two of the three requirements. imagine my shock when i got my hands on the X1; it redefined my prejudice on ultralight laptops. Though it was the i5 model, it was fast enough for a multi-tasked environments. Its weight was unique for its size and foremost, its battery is admirable.
