The Lenovo G505 is a decent laptop, depending on what you are going to use it for. I love the easy type keyboard, it has a one button recovery, which may come in handy when I need to set it back to factory settings. It has an SD card slot and supports an HDMI cable. This model has the Radeon graphics card, the graphics are wonderful, even set at the lowest quality. I use it to play World of Warcraft and it does fine. After hours of play it doesn't run hot. When the servers are busy and I begin to lag, I lower the graphics settings and I still enjoy a good gaming experience. If your a serious gamer that plans to play various games I would suggest to spend a little more money and get something with a faster processor and maybe a little more RAM. Lenovo is an innovative company and will be first choice when it's time to upgrade my family's computers...Loving my Lenovo
This is a GREAT laptop. Sure, You have to get used to Windows 8 but once you get the hang of it it's all a breeze.
The AMD 1.4 Quad core processor and the 4GB of RAM makes everything you do snappy and lag free.
It uses a regular HDMI cable so I connected it on my 60 inch TV and the picture is flawless.
The Wi-Fi on this laptop is amazing.
It can play games as well, anything from 2010 and later years will play smoothly.
Remember it's not like this has an Intel i7 Core...
For basic gaming, browsing, video chatting & multimedia this is a MUST buy.
other than that.. i LOVE this laptop!
exactly what i needed.
but seriously... the processor info is wrong.

I have to say after reading ALL the negative reviews about this laptop having issues with Wi-Fi & CPU problems I was doubting myself if I should get this laptop but after a few days with it my doubts are erased. This is a GREAT laptop. The screen size is perfect, the weight is a MAJOR improvement from my previous beast, and it does everything I need to do on a daily basis. If anything could be improved, it would be the memory for more heavy duty design software. Not recommended for PC gaming.Honest reviews on Lenovo G505 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)

Cheap Lenovo Thinkpad R61i Core 2 Duo T2370 1GB/80GB
Plenty fast and does everything I need it too. Battery needs recharge a little more often than I would like, but I am too cheap to buy a bigger battery. Hooray! it came with Windows XP professional instead of that Gawd-awful Windows Vista. No negative issues with it yet.
Please learn from my pain. Lenovo's are garbage to promote extended warranty scams. This Chinese-owned company does not stand behind its product for good reasons. Even if the other computers are made in China as well, at least make sure they are not owned by a Chinese company (this is the only thing I can figure out).

I am typing this review on the laptop I gave my wife after getting this laptop for myself off of Lenovo's web site. I started out with a very good opinion and past experience with the older IBM ThinkPad laptops that I used at work. I should have known something was wrong when Lenovo told me it would take longer than a month to get the computer to me. When I called them to find out why, I did not get a real explanation (I do not remember, since it was over a year ago). I asked them if I found a computer as good in Best Buy before they shipped it, could I cancel my order. Low and behold, the computer was at my doorstep in a few days after that. Unfortunately, I got one with Vista and the updated sound drivers kept conflicting with the sound card. I took it to Geek Squad (the first time in my life) and they fixed it by back-rev'ing it to a version of the driver which would work. Finally, only four months after the manufacturer's warranty expired, it started freezing up 15 minutes to an hour after start up. I have eliminated every other possible cause except hardware. After talking with Lenovo support, my only options now are paying premium for an extended warranty or stare down paying another $200-300 just to get my computer to work for an undetermined period of time. Please learn from my pain. I've had my Alienware 17 for a couple weeks now, and I'm absolutely in love with it! I use it primarily to run League of Legends. It's currently running LoL on the highest possible quality settings across the board, and runs at a constant 60 FPS. It's extremely smooth, and I've had zero problems with it so far.
'
Dell send my laptop with a wrong brick and the next day i receive an email tell me the error i didn't figure it out. Send me the new power brick with no extra cost. I'm very satisfied with the customer sevice i have in dell , a much better than msi or other brands like asus.
I know there are nice laptops out there. Or similar with similiar price range or 200usd cheaper. But the customer service is alot of diference. I have owned 2 alienware sistems , my old laptop m17x r2 and this new beauty , and the only time i need customer service and they contact me first via email. i'm very pleaced with dell's service. One of the best out there.
And the laptop u have only 3 choices, msi, asus or alienware. The 3 with similar hardware and same price range.. But the quality of this laptop worth the 200usd u paid more for this laptop.

I does everything as promised and is beautiful to look at as well as use. It is well designed. Windows 8 is taking some getting used to but I think in the end I will like it just fine. I comes beautifully packaged in a black box with egg crate lining. The feel of the keys? Fabulous. Ability to multitask? Oh yeah. Do I understand everything it can do yet. Nope, but I will.Best Deals for Alienware ALW17-3744sLV 17-Inch Laptop (Silver)

Reviews of Lenovo Y550P 324156U 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
After using Macs exclusively for 3 years, I switched back to Windows because of one reason: I wanted a quad core laptop (i7 specifically) and Apple has yet to make one. Furthermore, I know that when they do it will only be offered at first on the highest end of the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro models and will likely cost between $1800-$2200. When this laptop went on sale for $999.99, I knew I could no longer justify staying with Apple because $999.99 just happens to be the price of their lowest end laptop. For $999.99 (PC vs Mac) you can get processor quad core vs. dual core, HD 500GB vs 250GB, Ram 4GB vs 2GB, max ram 8GB vs 4GB, LCD 13.3" vs 15.6", and internal graphics of 256MB shared vs 1GB discrete. To me this is no contest. I was able to switch my Adobe programs over to PC by calling Adobe customer service and performing a cross platform swap. I needed to update my MS Office suite anyway so I didn't mind spending $170 to get MS Office Home/Student 2007 plus Outlook 2007. I will describe my experience with the Lenovo through a Pro/Con list, and I will compare the Apple and PC experience where necessary.
Pros:
*i7 quad-core laptop for $999.99
*i7 quad-core = very, very fast
*1GB discrete graphics will satisfy every need except only the highest of professional/gaming graphics processing needs.
*looks very nice and seems well-built
*4GB of ram is enough for now and the option to expand to 8GB later is great
*ExpressCard 34, eSATA and SD card slots are most welcome
Cons:
*fan is audible a good bit of the time, and most of the time during even moderate application usage. I was aware of this issue with quad-core laptops prior to purchase so it did not come as a surprise, but at the same time I do think it belongs on the con list
*terrible sound output quality and volume from the built-in speakers
*terrible sound output quality and volume as well as crackling/popping while using external speakers, so terrible that I had to buy a Creative XFI Expresscard Sound Card (which did, incidentally, fix all of the audio issues)
*audio out jack located on the front of the laptop (I know this is all too common on today's laptops but it is annoying nonetheless; the Creative XFI card also solved this issue)
*occasional high pitch whine (the source of which is still under investigation) which can be quite annoying
*location of the cooling fan inlet vent means that you will not be able to use this on your lap or on top of a bedspread unless you first put a hard flat object under the laptop first; the laptop essentially is designed to only be placed on hard flat surfaces
*no DVI, mini-DVI or mini-DisplayPort ports; HDMI and VGA (VGA?!?!?!?!) are the only video ports
*the built-in trackpad experience is truly atrocious: the trackpad has a raised grid surface (instead of a flat smooth surface like 99% of the laptops made) which makes navigation uncomfortable and imprecise. In addition, the scrolling bar is laughably unusable. It is made for hands with fingers the size of baby's fingers and using it requires tapping down once first to turn it on; one can not simply move their fingers over it to scroll
*battery life is terrible, but I knew this going in because all quad-core laptops have terrible battery life as a result of their power-hungry processors. You will not get the 4.5 hours of battery life as advertised, trust me. I don't know how they were able to achieve that number but virtually everything must have been disabled and/or turned all the way down.\
*a moderate amount of bloatware which I am still deleting/tinkering with after a week of ownership
*built-in LCD not particularly stunning but I find nothing objectionable about it either
*would have liked to get Windows 7 Professional/Ultimate considering this is a high-end laptop but I did know prior to purchase of course that I was only getting Windows 7 Home
*hard drive came partitioned into 4 parts which is very, very annoying. In addition a few of them took up massive amounts of hard drive space for no apparent reason. It took me a few days of messing around with various freeware utilities to get all (but the essential) of them deleted. (hint: check out the free "Ultimate Boot CD" it is what finally got rid of the pesky partitions that Windows disk utility wouldn't let me touch)
In my opinion, this is your basic garden-variety "desktop replacement" laptop. With an external keyboard, mouse and monitor this makes a great desktop that can sometimes be carried out of the home when need be. I find the "laptop only" experience to be sub-par. This is perfectly suitable for someone like me since my laptops have always spent over 95% of their time at home plugged into external I/O devices. If you are someone who is just the opposite, however, I can not recommended this unit because of the issues described above. Overall, I am satisfied with the unit primarily due to the performance specs and the price. There is just no arguing with the value of an i7 laptop with 1GB discrete graphics for $999.99. The length of the con list, however, was sufficient to cause me to drop the rating to 4/5.
Pros: Overall I'm very satisfied with this product, but not crazy impressed. I had reservations about the y550p because of its lackluster screen resolution and supposedly poor build quality. Honestly though, I haven't noticed any issues with these things. The screen is bright and clear, the colors look good and from what I can tell the computer seems sturdy enough (though I don't get very mobile with it). The keyboard is also pretty good, I wasn't eager to switch over from Mac's pebble key design, but this keyboard is springy, responsive, and well-spaced. As far as looks go this Lenovo is slick. Not as slim as a Mac would be but still fairly compact and its coloring and hood design are fairly unique without looking cheap. It will definitely attract some fingerprints, but it won't drive you crazy like an iPhone will. Other than that the i7 processor is quick as expected (I have never fully taxed the system)and windows 7 is awesome.
Cons: The battery life on this computer is beyond terrible. Even with bluetooth turned off and the screen dimmed I have never been able to last longer than an hour and 20 minutes on a charge while just surfing the internet. I find this annoying even when I bring my computer from my desk to the living room couch and it starts beeping (warning indicator) right away, so I can't imagine how this would fair on the road or in an airport. The trackpad is also awful and whatever you assume "multi-touch" to mean just forget about it. YOU WILL NEED TO BUY A SEPARATE MOUSE. The pad area is small and unresponsive and the multi-touch gestures work maybe half the time. Unexpectedly, the webcam is also pretty bad (fuzzy, choppy, the works)and I was very disappointed that Lenovo seemed to cut back the spending in this area. I purchased a 720p Microsoft Lifecam for $50 from Amazon and this cleaned up the issue, but still I was hoping for something integrated. The fan is also pretty loud even when the computer is idle and the USB ports are few (2) and oddly placed on the right hand side of the computer so if you have something plugged into that port AND are using a mouse WATCH OUT.
Besides that there are a few issues which may or may not apply to you. MY IPHONE WILL NOT SYNC CORRECTLY WITH THIS COMPUTER. I wasted hours on the phone with Apple tech support and apparently there is a known compatibility issue with itunes and the mother board on this computer...VERY ANNOYING. It will eventually work, but only after maybe 20 (literally) failed attempts and computer restarts. Are you planning on upgrading the hard drive on this computer? I was, but I was told (after hours on the phone with Lenovo) that my computer was too new to be compatible with the Western Digital 320 GB 7200 rpm hard drive I had purchased and that MAYBE WD would issue the proper drivers ONE DAY. I had to return it and was so fed up I decided to just stick with the sloooooow 5000 rpm hard drive that came with this computer. On the bright side though, Lenovo technical support was very helpful, friendly, and most importantly their reps were native English speakers which is HUGE.
-The keyboard is a nice size. It feels nice, and types well.
-The LED lights look sweet and the little ideapad logo is really neat
-The sound on this thing is nice it has a subwoofer which is noticable when tested against my fiancee's MacBook Pro that is broken and basically plays sound far too loud.
-The screen is bright and easy to read
-The computer can run, illustrator, photoshop, world of warcraft and google chrome with no slow down.
-Great at running any application or game with the processor
-The graphics card helps with games my games look excellent
-Lots of storage 500 GB I've only used maybe 200 GB , a good portion of that photos.
-Windows 7 is great. I have little to no problems with it.
-The computer is light and is carried easily in a backpack (I'm 5'2")
-I love the orange accents
-HDMI port yes!
-Not a loud fan. I heard others complain about this but I don't see it at all. Not when I have an airplane launching in the MacBook Pro that always sits next to me.
Neutral (But more good than bad)
-It doesn't get hot if it does it's only on the left side and the fan really kicks in to push the air out.
-The slide bar nav is a cool idea, but I never use it. I set it up, but I just use that taskbar.
Cons:
-Why is there a key to basically erase your harddrive? I immediately disabled that.
-You have to spend about an hour deleting stupid software in the beginning which takes a bit because some of it you might end up needing.... (Like drivers for the camera)
-Trackpad is a bit funky I have the Razer Orochi bluetooth mouse and rarely use the trackpad
-Only 2 USB ports never been a problem but may be for some
Pretty awful battery life, but I always plug in. Get a bigger battery if you need this to last more than 2 hours.
-I hate where the power button is. How I use my laptop, I have accidentally pressed it in the middle of the game when moving about 3 times and shut the computer off and lost my game no!
Overall, this is one of my favorite laptops. It is built well, looks nice, and runs like a dream. Mostly, it runs like a dream. The cons don't really bother me nothing is falling apart, etc etc.
This is a great computer for 999. You can't beat a core i7 processor for that price!
I like this a lot -better than any other computer I have had:
These are other computers I owned in order that I liked them:
Apple tangerine iBook
Sony Vaio FW
Apple iBook G4
Apple MacBook Pro
PROs: I almost NEVER hear the fan...and I never hear a high-pitched whine...and my sound output quality is easily the best I have heard on a laptop (go into control panel and turn on WavesMaxx Audio in Realtek HD Audio Manager...triples the volume and really gives it a lush sound)...maybe the other reviewer got a lemon that gave the opposite report on all those things. Laptop runs cool. The best "feel" for any keyboard I have EVER used. Yes, the trackpad has a slightly textured surface, but I got used to it after about a day and now consider it the best I have used and very responsive (another reviewer said that 99% of laptops have a smooth trackpad...where was that statistic obtained, ha!). It has 3 USB hubs...one is a combo eSata on the left-hand side, in a very convenient spot. Not sure what these other people are doing, or how they have adjusted their settings, but I consistently get 2:45-3 hours of battery life doing internet and light office app. work (on a moderate power-saving mode). The partitioning of the hard drives is really pretty simplistic and I am not sure why anyone would blow a gasket over that. This machine edits HD Video like a champion and runs Adobe CS4, PowerDirector Ultra, and Video Studio Pro X3 with ease. The photo/video editing software also initializes VERY quickly compared to other computers I have used. The computer itself boots up in under a minute and shuts down in just a few seconds...so quickly I actually did a double-take the first few times I turned it off (My Vaio...I sometimes walked around the houes doing other things for a few mintues to give it time to boot down)! The laptop is pretty light considering the power under the hood...it doesn't feel as durable as some others, maybe, but I still wouldn't hesitate to travel with it. I ran the PC Pitstop scanner on the computer and it rated almost EVERY FACET of the computer in the top 1% of all computers (CPU, GPU, RAM, HD Size, 3D Graphics, etc, etc)...the only thing it marked down was the HD Speed for being 5400rpm (still top 25% though). Windows experience index = 7.0 / 7.3 / 6.4 / 6.4 / and 5.9. Power cord is probably a good 12-18" longer than others I have used, which I find to be a good thing. Slidebar and Veriface are interesting, but I just uninstalled them...not really my thing.
CONs: A little bloatware, easily removed in a couple of hours or less (and way less than my Sony Vaio had). Stopped connecting to internet first day...Lenovo walked me through correcting a Win7 conflict error...had me up and going again in minutes. Left trackpad button sticks a little. It took me a little time to get used to the width of the screen.
Recap: I really don't think you can go wrong with this laptop. You get a really decent graphics card, a powerful CPU, lots of storage, a beautiful screen...so much bang for the buck (I bought for $999). Get it and I seriously doubt you will regret it.
After 9 days I got it back with a new hard drive, all my software and files gone, and still only 1 working USB port. When it works, it works fine, but this is the very last Lenovo I will ever buy.

Like one of the other reviewers I also am switching to this Lenovo after having a Mac for nearly 3 years. The main reason for my switch was that I wanted an i7 processor and a 1GB dedicated graphics card which Mac just doesn't offer at any price...the huge bonus here is that this computer only cost $1,000!Pros: Overall I'm very satisfied with this product, but not crazy impressed.

Sony Vaio FW

Honest reviews on Lenovo Y550P 324156U 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
This laptop is amazing.PROs: I almost NEVER hear the fan...and I never hear a high-pitched whine...and my sound output quality is easily the best I have heard on a laptop (go into control panel and turn on WavesMaxx Audio in Realtek HD Audio Manager...triples the volume and really gives it a lush sound)...maybe the other reviewer got a lemon that gave the opposite report on all those things.

4 months after purchasing this computer, for my work, 2 things were malfunctioning. The hard drive was toast and one of the USB ports was not working (as there are only 2 and I use a USB mouse and USB laptop cooler this became a problem). I sent it in for servicing after talking to tech support and included a note with an arrow highlighting the bad USB port. After 9 days I got it back with a new hard drive, all my software and files gone, and still only 1 working USB port. When it works, it works fine, but this is the very last Lenovo I will ever buy.

The Dell Inspiron 11Z may not be the best netbook/laptop computer in its class, but it comes close. It is a solidly constructed, well designed computer, whose performance compares favorably with other, more expensive, Dell computers I have used, such as several of the early Dell XPS models (M1210, M1330). It may be all a casual user needs in a compact netbook/laptop computer, especially with regards with internet surfing; however, users may want to upgrade the available RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB just for allowing it to have faster internet access, though I have found that when I have used the computer connected to the Internet from a high speed connection, I have had little or no problems with internet surfing. I am delighted that it is relatively light weight, and haven't hesitated carrying it with me, and using it to surf the internet at venues like an East Village (New York, NY) bar or the Metropolitan Museum of Art cafeteria. Aside from internet surfing, I have been able to use the limited versions of MS WORD and MS EXCEL that comprise the MS Office Starter software that was bundled with this computer. (For a substantially higher sum, users can acquire an activation key and have MS OFFICE 2010 working, since it comes installed though not working too.) I highly recommend this computer to anyone thinking of using it primarily as an internet access netbook, or as a backup to another, more feature-laded, laptop or desktop computer.Best Deals for Dell Inspiron 11z Core i3-330UM 1.2GHz 2GB 250GB 11.6" WLED Laptop
I like the computer itself but have had problems with it not downloading any software and that is an ongoing issue. There were so many updates to Windows because it was made in 2011 that for days, it was updating but the result is that I cannot download or update any other software on the computer. If not for these issues, it would be a 5-star, but I have spent considerable time and effort trying to fix the problems and still don't have much more than an email machine at this point.Honest reviews on Dell Inspiron 11z Core i3-330UM 1.2GHz 2GB 250GB 11.6" WLED Laptop

Review of ASUS K50IJ-BNC5 Intel Pentium Dual Core 15.6-Inch HD LED Laptop
I could not be happier with this. It came in the box with all of the plastic wrapping and looked brand new, not like a refurb to me. The backlit keyboard is so nice. I don't know why that is so hard to find. Battery life is amazing. Doing email and MSOffice in the car, we drove from an hour north of Sacramento to the Grapevine and I was working on it the entire way.... at least 5 hours and still had not died when we got to a motel.
It's not the fasted chip, but it runs Adobe CS5 and MS Office and quickbooks just fine, so what more do you want? Oh... I am not a gamer, so doubt it would be great for that. But what a deal!

This is not going to be an extensive review. I simply want to make a quick point that this laptop, at the price paid for the refurbished model, is an incredible value. It's plenty fast for those that just want a laptop for work (connecting to Citrix, Terminal Services, web) and personal (web surfing, email, blogging, etc.). I keep the screen brightness at around 20% and it's plenty bright for use indoors at home. With that brightness level and the power options set to "Power saver" with a few tweaks I'm regularly getting 6 hour run-time (as advertised). Even with it set to power saver the laptop still performs really well for my needs, including watching the occasional video (even 1080p). One last note, I really love having a back-lit keyboard, which I keep at the lowest setting. I wish the back-lit keyboard had an even lower brightness setting because the lowest setting is still quite bright for my needs. But I'm still getting 6 hour run-time so I'm not really complaining. I believe all laptops should have back-lit keyboards. I don't understand why it's such a rare option still. So that wraps it up. Not an extensive review, just my thoughts on nearly a week using my new laptop. The biggest concern for me was battery life and this laptop lives up to my expectations. Great job Asus!Best Deals for ASUS K50IJ-BNC5 Intel Pentium Dual Core 15.6-Inch HD LED Laptop

Buy ASUS X53E-XR2 15.6" LED Notebook 2GHz Intel Pentium B940 Dual-Core
I admit I had never heard of the ASUS Brand when shopping around for a laptop. I did some research and basically didn't find any bad reviews....especially on this particular model. So I went for it and I'm glad I did. It was a Christmas gift for a family member who basically just wanted something to surf the web with and read emails, watch movies etc... So basically this notebook is overkill for what it will be used for. Anyways, the initial start up was a bit of a pain since it prompts you to back up the OS ( Win 7 premium ) ...which took a couple of hours and 4 DVD-R discs....because it does not include the OS disc....so be sure you have those blanc dvd's handy. So.. Ok we did that and then ...wow..this is a really nice computer! Screen is crystal clear and graphics look pretty much HD. Some people do not like the shiny glass ( it's not that bad ) but we do not find it bothersome at all. This computer is super quiet, no joke...you will hear yourself breathing but not a mutter from this beauty. OK, after a couple of days we were faced with Microsoft updates and plenty of them which includes the service pack 1 which took a while. This is not out of the ordinary on any new laptop, notebook, desktop etc...Basically your machine just needs to catch up to Microsoft since it sat in a box for a bit. We uninstalled the trial version of the anitivirus software and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials...which we have running on our other XP computers. Only thing about MSE is that it would not install correctly in IE8 so we had to download the new IE9...no biggie. There really isn't much bloatware on this system at all...well, the one we bought didn't anyways. So far so good...it's only been a few days but we are happy. We have not done much with any of the installed software so I cannot comment on that. This computer replaced a 10 year old laptop that barely had any life left in it...sooooo, of course anything is better than that !

Review of Sony VAIO SE1 Series VPCSE17FX/B 15.5-Inch Laptop (Jet Black)
My primary requirement for a laptop was for it to have a beautiful screen and long battery life. If this is what you are looking for, there are no alternatives besides a Macbook. This is why I give it 5 stars. I purchased the computer from a physical Microsoft Store and received 25% off (Nov 2011).
Pros:
Beautiful screen, 1080p, great viewing angle both vertical and horizontal. Nothing compares to this screen!
Battery life (with extra battery attachment) is probably between 4 and 8 hours depending on use.
Silent Performance mode. Supresses processing power but keeps the fan at minimum rpm.
Blu-ray playback is just stunning!
USB 3.0
HDMI out
VAIO control panel is neat. VAIO care is interesting too.
Cons:
Trackpad is difficult to find and mouse button is not easy to press. This is annoying, but I placed a little sticker on the easiest part to click and issue resolved.
No dedicated volume button (need to press fn+f3/f4)
The resolution is so high and the screen a normal 15.6 inches that I need my glasses with some applications without a zoom feature.
Sound is not great, but works well enough.
I prefer a centered keyboard without a numeric pad.
The laptop does not come out of standby mode when I open the lid/screen. I need to press the power button. My HP DV-6000 starts up when I open the lid. There may be a setting for this.
I have not found a mic input port for plug in mic. My HP has one.
No HDTV Tuner
Price
Conclusion:
It's not for everyone, but I love it. With this computer, I can take it all over the house and easily attach it to a HDTV anywhere without worrying about power, instantly making the HDTV, Blu-ray and internet capable (with no restrictions like Google TV). No HDTV in the room? You have one on your lap!
Update:
I recently purchased a PS3 Display and hooked up my Sony laptop. The PS3 Display is bright and beautiful. As compared to the laptop screen, the laptop screen has a very very slight (was never noticeable without comparison) orange/brown tinge when looking at white. The PS3 Display has a very very slight blue tinge.
Pros----------------------------------------
SCREEN
This is the best screen you can find in laptop industry. It has the almost 180 degrees of view angle, which you can only find on LCD TVs and Mac screens. Even Mac screen will change the white color to yellow when viewed from steep angles, this one will darken a little bit but the color unchanged.
Also ,this screen remains the same on the inferior versions of this model(VPCSE13,VPCSE16...)
Slim body
Long battery.
With out extra battery sheet, this machine only last 3.5 hours. But I highly recommend you buy a battery sheet, for extending time to 6.5 hours (middle brightness), as well as keeping the bottom cool. (The bottom is cool enough when not playing games, a batter sheet will make it even cooler)
Double graphic card.
I wanted this features for years. And now I finally got it. Also ATI 6630 is a class 2 graphics card, according to . When I play COD7 , it's easy to render at high fps at high settings.
CONS--------------------------------
1 SONY's driver is hard to install. You must download them from Sony's website and install in sequence if you intend to reinstall your OS. If the sequence is not right, it's easy to end up with some hardware not working.
2 6630 Graphic card (or it's driver) does not support portrait mode(rotate monitor 90 degrees). Well maybe most people does not need this feature, but I do, when I view or design websites. I have a viewsonic monitor that can rotate, but the graphic card does not support.....
OVERALL, I highly recommend this machine or any of it's inferior version to my friends. The top-of-industry screen alone is a strong enough reason .
The huge cosmetic surprise was that this laptop is essentially ALL PLASTIC. Some reviewer said it is aluminum which is totally wrong. Every major external part is made of plastic (like many laptops).
The biggest functional flaw is by far the FAN PLACEMENT. It is located on the BACK of the laptop. Normally this isn't a bad thing, except on this laptop, when you open the lid/screen, IT BLOCKS THE FAN. IT'S SO FUNNY. I can't imagine who would design something so stupid? If you open the lid/screen, it essentially blocks the fan causing the fan to run harder and harder making a lot of noise. Essentially Sony sacrificed function for style (cooling and fan placement is not something you want compromised).
CONS:
-FAN PLACEMENT (See above)
-Fan runs on high and very loud even for minimal loads
-ALL PLASTIC BODY (the plastic seems sort of cheap and light, likely to reduce the weight)
-Battery is life not good (less than would be expected for a 15.6")
-Only three USBs, all placed on one side
-It just has a weird look to it. It's nothing like the more or less standard look you find on HPs or MacBook Pros. It looked amazing in the pictures, but I didn't like how it looked in person. I think the square, sharp edges and corner (instead of round ones) have a lot to do with it.
-The "Stamina" or "Speed" manual switch on the top left of the keyboard is almost unique to this laptop. It is used to switch between integrated or discrete graphs. Normally this is a plus, except this laptop CANNOT HANDLE THE HEAT from "Speed" or discrete graphs so you always leave it on "Stamina"
PROS:
-Very light, among the lightest 15.6" laptops you will find (the cheap plastic probably helps with that)
-Very comfortable keyboard (similar to Lenovo keyboards)
-Full HD 1920x1080 resolution (major plus)
-IPS LED Backlit technology for the monitor (again, major plus)
CONCLUSION: This laptop is a very light weight 15.6" laptop with an incredible display. Just expect an ALL PLASTIC body and expect loud fan noise even under minimal loads. Surprisingly, heat was not an issue, but very loud fan noise was.
Pros:

Is this the most advanced laptop available, No, but it is a Great laptop for how little it costs! Great Value! The vendor did not send me the correct PC. It was a less powerful PC. Doubt they did it on purpose. Ended up with a deal on a Dell 5110 purchased 10-2-2012 from another vendor, not on/from Amazon. Having the hard drive in that replaced this week free under warranty. Purchased thru LogicBuy. THAT machine is a very nice unit. In spite of the defective hard drive. 1 TG/500GB

It is such a great machine. Can't say enough about it!
My fourth and best contemporary Laptop experience ever. Honest!
it is a laptop so i expected it to be resistant to minor bumps. however, sometimes it turns itself off. it has done so at least three times. it also has an annoying "clunk" when powering up or down that comes from the dvd burner.
in the design area, the power button is placed in a blind spot that can be hard to identify and most of the plug ins are inconveniently located on the back. there is LOT of bloatware. (the 500 GB hard drive has only 394 GB available)
if not for the disconcerting episodes of turning itself off and the clunk in the dvd burner, i'd be quite happy. i have been advised by one person who helps me to return it because of these issues. i'm undecided.

HP Pavilion g4-1318dx - 14" LED Backlit Laptop/ Intel Pentium B950 Reviews
I got this product at best buy for 350 dollars. The graphics are great, it is only 4.7 pounds, and does not get hot. the only thing I would change about this computer would be to make it have a longer battery. Another con is that the CD drive sticks out a little bit. These two cons that I found should not stop you from buying this product. This is one of the best computers out there for less then 450 dollars.
I will admit, I am not into the WOW or online games like that so I cannot rate it's perfomance in that category. But for what I want it to do online surfing and some old school non online games like American Mcgee's Alice, the Command and Conquer series, Sports Mogul football and baseball, Sim city, etc. With the portability it works great. I am extremely happy with it for the price I paid. Compared to the Toshiba I had used in the past, this is definitely a much better laptop/notebook, for me and when I know it was so much more affordable then I truly have no complaints and LOVE HP (BTW this was my first HP product besides a printer).

Like many others, I got this laptop for $357(yes, tax is an expense too) from Best Buy, and it is honestly one of the best investments I've ever made. I've had this beautiful laptop for a little over a year now and wow has it been absolutely phenomenal in every way. The keyboard is very nice and the CAPS LOCK button has a cute light right on the button itself. The touchpad has a lock feature which never once was activated by accident, but it's a super helpful feature when watching a video. This little powerhouse has 3 USB ports, CD/DVD drive, ethernet AND HDMI ports! I've never had any speed issues, it is not unpromising if the connection is okay. I can watch a youtube video and skype at the same time with not a single lag in both program's performance. I only give a product 5 stars if I REALLY REALLY LOVE it, and it's a huge shame that this has been discontinued. I fear I won't get another laptop this good for such an affordable price ever again.Honest reviews on HP Pavilion g4-1318dx - 14" LED Backlit Laptop/ Intel Pentium B950
This is my first laptop, although I have used others, primarily a Toshiba Satellite series (which was over $200 more. I find this extremely fast (especially with Roadrunner as my ISP). The graphics are sharp and crystal clear. The CD/DVD player is about the only downfall I have experienced with this, but I do have an external cd/dvd drive, so I just use that. It puts my Dell Optiplex desktop to shame. The only "issues" i have experienced in the 5 months I have been using it are fairly new (within the past week or so)occasionally the wifi does not turn itself on nor will it turn on when the key button is pressed. (I just restart it when that happens), battery life is shorter than it could be and when I play YouTube too long the laptop will freeze and make a very annoying noise (I just restart it), if I pay close attention I can catch it before it freezes (the video will stop but the audio continues).I will admit, I am not into the WOW or online games like that so I cannot rate it's perfomance in that category. But for what I want it to do online surfing and some old school non online games like American Mcgee's Alice, the Command and Conquer series, Sports Mogul football and baseball, Sim city, etc. With the portability it works great. I am extremely happy with it for the price I paid. Compared to the Toshiba I had used in the past, this is definitely a much better laptop/notebook, for me and when I know it was so much more affordable then I truly have no complaints and LOVE HP (BTW this was my first HP product besides a printer).

now, this is my first laptop, so I don't have EXTENSIVE knowledge about comparisons and the like, however, I do like this laptop. its not too big, but its also not too small. I do think that it could be a little bit faster, but for my first laptop, its pretty nice. you can't bog it down with a bunch of resource-intensive programs but I have frostwire, gimp, audacity, skype, AVG(my anti-virus), and CCleaner(who doesn't love CCleaner??), and it still works fine! this is one of those computers where you HAVE to take care of it, you can't be like most people and not clean out the history and the cache and all that. CCleaner is a NECCESSITY for this computer, otherwise youre going to have a $400 paperweight :/ overall, very good product for a cheap price. OH! and I LOVE the trackpad! its got these ridges so its tangible, the smooth trackpads just feel weird to me. (I actually bought a wireless mouse to use with it because the mouse buttons aren't very good quality if you like to click on a lot of things, they start to get loose, and that just worried me, so I got the mouse!)Thursday, March 6, 2014
Best HP Pavilion 14-f020us 14-Inch Touchscreen Sleekbook Deals
I recently purchased this laptop from an outside source(sorry Amazon)and I LOVE it! The keyboard is easy to type on, the touch screen a cool feature and the size is perfect. This is my first new laptop in years. The Windows 8 takes some time to get used to but once you unpin all the stuff you don't need it's quite easy to figure out.
