Don't be fooled by the processor speed listed in the descriptionthis laptop is plenty fast! If you're like me, all I've ever gone by is the listed GHz speed. But the quad core processor in this laptop really does the job. I love the keyboard and the built-in webcam. Like others, I was not impressed with the speakers, and that's the only reason this laptop gets four stars. And it's easy enough to get around that with external speakers.
Great machine. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Cheap ThinkPad T530 2392AQU 15.6" LED Notebook - Intel - Core i5 i5-3320M
Hi. I just got this Thinkpad last week, so I can only give you my first impressions. The case is very sturdy. The LED screen is very good with nice color. The frame around the screen is the strongest I've seen on any laptop. If you break the screen on this laptop you did something very wrong. The screen pivots 180 degrees so it lays down flat. The hinges are very strong and appear to be magnesium or some other alloy. It's a little heavy but the extra weight is well spent and worth every fraction of an ounce for how sturdy it is.
When the screen is closed, you can set it down on it's back spine and it stands up. It stands up on the sides too, but not as stable. I guess having a clunky old fashioned looking case has it's benefits. ( I read others complain about how it looks, so I state this in jest.)
I have the lowest rated Hard Drive in my T530, 320 GB, 5400 speed, but it still gets a 5.4 ranking on the windows experience, and it is very energy efficient and doesn't drag the battery down, and it's virtually silent.(There is a feature inside called a Hard Drive Air Bag that is supposed to protect it somehow. It's a Lenovo feature. I think it might make it harder to change the hard drive, but I don't know that for a fact.) My old Dell only had 320 GB and in 4 years I had only put about 60 GB worth of media on it. So, for me it's good enough, even though it looks inferior on paper.
Download speeds are pretty fast. But I was very worried that Internet Explorer took for ever to resolve a webpage when surfing. I tried Firefox search engine and was shocked at how very fast it was. Then I found a Microsoft utility to remove Internet Add-Ons. You can run it from the Microsoft website. What a wow difference. Now it's a surfing delight.
There is no number pad, but my Dell 14 didn't have one either. There is a little space between each key that alloys me to type without my annoying errors and backspaces from hitting adjacent keys. I'm lovin' it. The keyboard light is a nice useful touch. I very much like the touch pad experience on this machine.
The Keyboard is flanked by the speakers. The Sound is interestingly good, while not overly loud. In Sound Controls there is a Dolby Equalizer where you can set several custom EQ protocols. and turn on Surround or not. While it's not true surround, it does make an interesting stereo effect for the user while at the keyboard. I like the sound of it alot. I haven't had this on my budget machines.
I am pretty confident this machine will meet my needs for the next 4 years at least.

In response to my last review this company was very polite and had great costumer service , they contacted me right away about my issue... Ended up having to contact Lenovo and fix the operating system... Which wasn't difficult due to the great customer service from Lenovo as well! Over all and after fixing the issue I'm please with this product!Best Deals for ThinkPad T530 2392AQU 15.6" LED Notebook - Intel - Core i5 i5-3320M
First impressions sans the dead pixels (returning as we speak) this is a solidly built laptop and I love the new keyboard style. A shame I couldn't use it right out of the box, I will give a thorough review after I get a replacement.Sunday, October 19, 2014

Buy Toshiba Satellite P755-s5198 15.6" Laptop (Intel Core i7-2670QM
I've had this laptop for 1 month and I am satisfied but not so impressed as I expected. I will mention the pros and cons.
Pros:
It's fast, you can open multiple web pages, play music or videos, open multiple programs at the same time with no delay.
Stylish design
Keyboard backlit is great and easy to control (Dim off, Dim on, or timer)
Keyboard buttons feels good at touch
It's not full of useless preinstalled programs, only the toshiba utilities which are good to monitor the laptop performance.
The laptop in spite of being 15.6" feels light to carry.
WIDI integrated is a good option to get rid of cables, but you have to buy an additional device (reciever) to connect to your Tv.
The nvidia graphics 1 Gb will allow you to play any graphic program or computer game.
Cons:
The screen color is not the best, I had to spend 30 min to reach the best color looking but doesn't convince me at all
The battery charger is bigger than older toshiba laptops I had, and the cable is as thin as always so you will have to take extra care to avoid that the heavyness of the charger does'nt brake the cable.
The touchpad is almost at the same level of the laptop surface so sometimes you slide the finger out of it without noticing
The integrated webcam is awfull, it is not too sharp even configuring contrast, brigtness, etc, a webcam not worthy of this laptop.
The battery only lat 3 hours

Reviews of Acer Aspire AS5742Z-4601 15.6" Black Notebook PC
I was pleasantly surprised when I got the computer considering the price I paid. This is my first laptop so I'm not the best person to review it since I have no prior experience. But this does everything I need it to do. The features are excellent. One button on/off mousepad, HDMII out, dual core processor, wireless N, dvd multidrive, nice 720 display so my shows look fantastic if I watch them on the laptop instead of with HDMI on my flatscreen. The multigesture touchpad is nice but takes some getting used to. sometimes it's a little touchy. All in all, it seems to be working great. I'm writting the review on it now. My minor complaints are, windows 7 dvd makeer is faulty, it will not let my videos burn in widescreen and I can't get any help why, I don't like where the power button is cause sometimes I pick it up and press the button on accident. Also the speaker is a bit weak but it is just a single laptop speaker, I don't know how strong you can really make them, but it's fine for what I use it for. Battery life is weak but I think it's about the average. depends on what you're doing with it. sometimes I get 3 hours, sometimes 4 hours. And the screen will have a glare cause it'ss glossy but I just move the lid/computer so it don't bother me. I would def recomend it for what I use it for. I never played any games on it other than some free internet games so I can't say how it would handle them. Def worth the money.

Reviews of HP Folio 13-1051nr, the Hunger Games Special Edition
Just what i was looking for: fast boot, nice battery life, decent screen, good trackpad, decent *backlit* keyboard, slim, light, good wifi .... All that remains is how long it will last. I am happy. I only purchased the Hunger Games edition cuz it was cheaper than the non-branded one at the time..
That said, this laptop is great, good enough despite all this to garner two stars. Just look to purchase it from elsewhere!

This item was not a hunger games special edition, but the standard edition. Be warned about items "fulfilled by Amazon." Customer service is terrible because Amazon provides the customer service, but doesn't own the shelves so the best they can do is offer you a refund. The refuse to acknowledge that this is basically a bait and switch, and send you the correct product. Furthermore, they refuse to change the language on their product listing to reflect the actual product. I would give zero stars if i could for not-as-advertised and really painful customer service. That said, this laptop is great, good enough despite all this to garner two stars. Reviews of Gateway 15.6" i3-370M 2.40 GHz Laptop | NV55C54u
Excellent laptop features second generation sandy bridge i3 processor which is more than capable of handling any power hungry programs. The casing is beautiful and is a quality build being a gateway. The lappy is also super cool and quiet which is a huge plus. I didn't have any problem with the mouse, in fact I found it quite responsive and the keyboard is great. I shopped around for months looking for a quality unit that is above an entry level laptop for an entry level price and this is it. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Bougth this laptop on black friday. wanted to update my old gateway i have had for the last 4 years. I know gateway is not one of the "best" or biggest brands out there, but i must say that this is still a great product that can go face to face with Sony, Toshiba and HP.
The only reason why i bought this laptop was because i have had a gateway for the last 4 years as i mentioned before, and never had any software or hardware problems with it. Its being 4 days since i got this laptop and it has worked perfect so far.
hardware: It is just awesome! the fact that it does not look like any other laptop out there makes it unique. The texture and desing is the keyboard is very easy and accesible, the F or "functions" keys are just very helpfull and easy to control. I think the best thing about it is that it has all you want to do built-in on the keyboard, so you don't have any " extra" keys outside the keyboard for the volume control, wifi or even changing songs. If you like simplicity and elegance, this computer will be a good choice for you for a great price, but if you thing gateway is not a good brand just get a MacBook Pro and spend $1200 on a machine that you wont even make the most out of it. Bought it essentially for school projects and my social life ( Facebook, Youtube, MSN, Skype e.t.c). I have installed two games that require lots of RAM and i can say it does the work with very smooth graphis. ( the games are WOW and AOE III)
It looks like they didn't do a very good job on the mouse pad, i have 4 main concerns about it:
1. the mouse pad was placed to the very left side of the computer, and althought i haven't had any problem when typying, like another person that did a review on this previously, i will say that it looks like they made it just for left-handed people! sometimes it gets annoying when you have to move your right hand to the very left of the computer, but i guess is just a matter of time and getting used to it.
2.The interaction with the mouse pad sometimes is a bit slow, when you put your finger on it, it takes about 1 or 2 seconds for the pad to recognize it and then you can move in the screen. I know it doesn't sound like a main concern but it will have a big effect when you are in a hurry and need to move along your windows really quick.
3. the option to scroll down and up on the page ( to the very right side of the mouse pad) sometimes just doesn't work! It seems that it only does its job when you are working on a microsoft word document but when it comes to srcoll down on an internet browser MOST of the times doesn't work.
4. They included a very nice feature on this mouse pad that i am sure most of you didn't know before. you can zoom in and out on the page that you are just by placing your two fingers next to each other and opening them(zoom in) or closing them ( zoom out), YES like a Mac! :) . Althought it's a great feature it doesn't work as perfect as it should, it frezzes or even do the oppossite SOMETIMES.
15.6" is a very descent size, i am not a a very big fan of small computers. Althought the size may seem too much for some people, i just thing is the perfect size to do just anything. it is very light and thin and it won't get warm if you keep it on a flat surface ( i guess all new computers can do that).
Overall is a great choice for a very descent price, i bought it for less than it is listed here but i will definitelly recomend this product to anyone out there willing to have a very elegant and unique product with the capabibilty of doing just anything on daily basis.
any other question? ask me i will be more than happy to answer! :)
Offset touchpad This thing is so far off to the left that it's almost uncomfortable to use. It's aligned directly behind the spacebar, but due to the full numberpad, the spacebar is not centered on the laptop itself. Also, it's very easy to accidentally hit the touchpad with the edge of your hand while typing. This can cause the cursor to move to some random point in a document, or cause you to accidentally click on a link on a webpage while you're filling out an entry field. Definitely an inconvenience, and definitely something that should have been thought of when Gateway was designing this product.
Speakers Point blank, the volume level at max is still a whisper. My iPhone has louder (and better quality) speakers than this laptop does.
Those are the two major downsides to this product. It's a good laptop, but it's definitely got some flaws that people should be aware of before buying it.
The screen resolution is great and shows crisp images. I do not like the keyboard as much as on other laptop as it feels and looks cheaper. I also do not care for the on switch as it also feels like low quality. The offset of the touchpad to the left is a little more then other laptops and takes a while to get used to.
I like the wireless and wired connections as it does process at a higher speed then older laptop that were 10/100. Have not used with webcam yet, but will update if I do use it

I bought this for my girlfriend because she wanted a quality, reliable laptop without paying a fortune. Overall, it's a pretty good laptop. I bought the Gateway NV55C56u, which is just a little update from the 54u, as a replacement for an older laptop with Windows Vista. It's performance with Windows 7 is better then the older Vista laptop, but from signon to fully ready to use is still slower then other Windows 7 Laptops. I upgraded the memmory to full 8GB for about $38 purchased from Amazon online. This was to get better performance when needed for graphic's etc. Initial setup was easy an only took a few minutes, then had to do about 8 or 9 Windows software updates once onlineThe screen resolution is great and shows crisp images. Discount Acer Gateway 15.6" Laptop PC (NE56R13U) with 320GB Hard Drive, 4GB
I have the Gateway ne56r13u which I bought while it was on sale recently at Target for about $250 (sorry Amazon). It worked really well for about ten days then stopped accepting a charge. Despite a power reset and a change of AC adapter the computer is still broken and I am still waiting for a response from gateway to my support request.
Update---For those wondering, I could not return it to Target as they no longer had any stock and have told me the were not carrying the item anymore. Since I paid such a good price I decided to go through Gateway for a repair.
Update---After two weeks communicating with Gateway support they gave me a return number and a shipping label so the laptop is on its way back for repair.

I bought this laptop at Best Buy for around the same price that it is available Amazon. It works perfectly for many things. i personally manage music, play music, browse the web constantly, watch HD YouTube videos, etc. I even game on this laptop! It has no problem running Minecraft and runs L4D2 exceptionally well. Windows 8 is a beast of its own and I feel that it should have its own review. Anyone who docks stars off of this laptop because of Windows 8 isn't seeing what a great laptop it is. Luckily, I really like and enjoy Windows 8! Make sure that you do enough research on Windows 8 and see if you don't mind the new features and looks. It honestly is not as big of a learning curve as everyone puts it out to be. the one and only thing that I can say that is bad about this laptop though is the battery life. It will last you about 2-3 hrs on average. i usually use balanced system performance and those are the hrs i get from that. If you use battery saver you will probably get an extra 30 mins or so. So if you're a person who is going to take their laptop everywhere I would take the battery life into consideration. Maybe even purchasing another one would be good too. Ultimately, I would highly recommend this computer to someone who wants to get a nice, low costing laptop.
It also has a multi-touch cursor pad which I LOVE!
in my opinion win. 8 is for touch screens.

My mom bought me this laptop for graduation, I've been using it for 3months now and I love it. I hated it at first because I hate windows 8. I think it's very inefficient, however this was my first intro to the program and this laptop does not have touch screen which would probably make windows 8 a better experience. All in all, This laptop has grown on me. I just avoid the windows 8 aspect of it, I navigate via the desktop screen. It also has a multi-touch cursor pad which I LOVE!
Best Deals for Asus 16-Inch Laptop K55N-SA80403V - AMD A8-4500M Quad Core CPU
Keyboard is tricky at times but will tell everyone to dump the W8 and go with extra 4GB RAM and a 7200RPM HD. Yes now as fast as a 965 Quad Core but here is the thingwired NIC MUCH faster and wireless went from 70MB/s to nearly 88MB's a sec using Windows 7. This was bought for work and could have went Intel but this one had 3 USB ports (again all faster under W7) instead of two. Upgrade the RAM, HD and install W7 or your flavor of Linux and you will have a decent work laptop on the cheap.Honest reviews on Asus 16-Inch Laptop K55N-SA80403V - AMD A8-4500M Quad Core CPU

Reviews of HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition Notebook PC, Intel i7-2670QM (2.2
Laptops have been around for quite a while and they keep improving. HP has really gotten it right with the DV7t Quad Series. These are powerful and beautiful machines that are well-thought out, with impeccable build construction, and lightning-fast performance. I bought the one featured here on Amazon with the exception that I added a 2GB Hard Disk Drive and went with 12GB of DRAM. Overkill perhaps, but there you are.
The screen is superb on this Notebook. I have an external HP 2511x 25 inch monitor which I have considered to be pretty much the gold standard for monitors. The 17 inch screen on the DV7t is every bit as crisp and bright (perhaps even a touch brighter and crisper) and is very, very pleasant to work with. The keyboard is well laid-out and the keys are what touch-typists like myself look for. The touchpad is about as good as pads of this type get, and it has a hardware off-switch by tapping rapidly on a designated part of the pad. So if you are using an external mouse, like I do, you can deactivate the touchpad without having to deal with layers of Windows menus.
One nice feature that the touchpad has is the ability to "pinch" the screen so that it is magnified less or more. This is a very convenient feature for those of us who wear reading glasses. If a given website uses too-small type, on this computer the user can "pinch" the touchpad causing the size of the type (i.e. the magnification of the web page) to increase to any desired amount. I find myself using this feature often.
The Blu-Ray disk drive works perfectly and the picture is incredible. I played several movies on it with great results. I have not burned any Blu-Ray files yet.
Performance of this computer is what you would expect: lightning-fast. It can manipulate huge digital files with ease and perform other heavy-duty tasks better than any other computer that I personally have used. Unfortunately most digital photography programs are still 32 bit, but when they become 64 bit this computer will be ready for them, with performance that we can only guess at.
Physically, this is a beautiful machine. The black chassis has a spectacularly nice metallic look to it that is not the fingerprint magnet of earlier HP chassis. There are 4 USB ports (two on each side) and an HDMI port, which many users will want to use in connection with a second monitor. Personally I would have preferred that the USB ports be on the back rather than on the side.
The audio on this unit is pretty good, but the volume could be better. Playing a Blu-Ray disk, I found myself wanting and preferring powered external speakers.
The fingerprint reader is easy to use and works well. This enables the user to scan a finger, and subsequently log into Windows with just a swipe of the finger rather than typing in a password. Very nice. The Hard Disk Drive indicator LED is (weirdly) on the side rather than the front, so it is not visible to the user and thus pretty useless. Not a huge issue in the greater scheme of things. In mitigation of this, the external headphone and speaker jacks are on the other side of the computer, rather than the front, which is a big improvement over earlier models on which these jacks were on the front, presenting the user with cumbersome cables. Plus, this unit gives you two speaker jacks instead of one, which is nice to have.
This is not a small computer. Most users will not be toting it around for casual use like a tablet or netbook. This one, with its 17 inch screen, is really a portable desktop computer and that is how it fits into my scheme of things. It is really designed to be the user's main computer (it has no compromises as regards performance) with the added capability of being portable and capable of use without an AC cable for a time. For me (I am an attorney) that means I can work with it at home or in the office, and when necessary take it to the courthouse. For this type use this computer is hard to beat. iPads and netbooks have their own niches, and this computer is no iPad. But there are still certain applications for which a full-powered computer is required, and the so-called demise of the personal computer will not be occurring any time soon.
This is the best computer that I have thus far owned and used. Recommended without reservation. RJB.

The pavillion feels very cheaply made compared to previus pavillions. It feels like a toy and like it would break if I looked at it wrong. I picked the computer up by the bottom and the bezel and this caused the screen to crack. HP will not cover it under warranty because they say it was "accidental damage". I picked up my computer on purpose ... not accidentally. I should have a reasonable expectation that the act of picking up the computer wouldn't break it. I've tried on other laptops to apply enough pressure to the bezel to effect the screen and I couldn't do it. I would not buy from HP and buy from a company with a better constructed product and better customer service.Update HP has decided to do the right thing and fix the computer for free

I ordered this laptop to do CAD work on. So far no problem opening and working with the very large Catia files I use for design. I had to mess around a little with the switchable graphics to get it to run Catia with the stand alone video card. It was trying to run it off of the built in video card. The obviously wan't cutting it. The battery life is pretty short, about 3-1/2 hours but that is expected considering the hardware this laptop has. I only have a few complaints. No back-lit keyboard, minor but slightly irritating for such an expensive laptop. HP bloatware that slows the boot time down quite a bit. The flat keyboard bezel was not snapped down all the way on the top part of the keyboard right at the center. I thought I was going to have to send the laptop back because of it but was able to snap it into place with a little prying and pushing. I guess I would say that the laptop is fast but typical of the way things are built now a days, not very refined and kind of cheap feeling. You shouldn't have to snap the keyboard in place on a brand new laptop you just spent $1,250 on. I guess if you really want build quality you could buy the similarly spec'd mac book pro and spend $3,000 for the same computer with a different OS.Honest reviews on HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition Notebook PC, Intel i7-2670QM (2.2
