This is my first Sony Vaio laptop. I have owned a few laptops before, and I have to say I really like this one. First, the SSD drive allows the computer to boot up within 3 seconds, best feature of all. The size and weight of the laptop are perfect for traveling and carrying. It's true that it's not as thin as some of the other 'UltraBooks' out there, but this has a dvd-rom and you can expand the memory and replace the battery. So you do sacrifice a little bit, but it's worth it. The touch screen is a nice touch, and Sony gives you a ton of software to use that can be helpful for graphic art and media design.

Some things I'm not crazy about it, but can live with are:

-The battery is a little weak, but I don't travel that much so I'm not totally bothered by it.

-Some of the keys are a little oddly placed. Home, End, Page Down/Up

-No direct access volume button, except for in the function keys

Turns on and loads quickly. Windows 8 and the touchscreen take a little getting used to. Also, I went from 15.6 inch to 14 inch, so the keyboad took some getting used to as well. I didn't expect to miss the backlit keybord so much.

As far as performance, it the wireless network adapter is glitchy. At first it would work fine, then every hour or so it's drop my WLAN connection, and automatically reconnect after about 1 min. Annoying! Took me 2 weeks and about 10 fixes before I got it to stop dropping out for no reason.

Now that it's fixed, it works flawlessly though. No complaints.

I am an engineering student and bought this computer for college next year. I have had positive experiences with Sony products in the past and was hoping for good results with this one. I should have heeded the two other reviews on here warning of wifi issues, because I had the same problem. Out of the box, the wifi worked for about an hour, then stopped working. I updated drivers to no avail, and even re-imaged the hard drive to try to fix this. No matter what I tried, the wifi would continue to drop out after a minute of connection. Perhaps if I spent another two weeks looking for a fix as another reviewer did I might have eventually found an answer. However, it's up to you whether you want to preserve your sanity looking for a solution. I have since returned this computer and am typing this from an ASUS S400ca DB51t, which is running without any hitches so far.

The fan is also quite loud, the sound is usable but not pleasant, and finding a proper viewing angle for the glossy screen is frustratingly fickle. If you are looking for a quality product that runs out of the box, look elsewhere.

Honest reviews on Sony VAIO T Series SVT14127CXS 14-Inch Touchscreen Ultrabook

Great laptop! Visual appeal is A+. Aluminum frame feels sturdy and well built, screen feels solid, and hinges do not feel flimsy. Optical drive does feel somewhat flimsy when extended but is to be expected in a "ultrabook". Boot time 14 sec, SSD (98 gb available) limited but fast. I have owned numerous laptops (HP, Samsung, Toshiba, Dell, and Apple) and this Sony ranks in the top three. Read other reviews talking about finiky wifi, Have had no issues. Although, did update BIOS and wifi driver immediately upon arrival. Only gripe, windows 8 needs some improvement. Touch screen is perfect addition but limited by windows 8 intricacies.

Pros:

Fast (boot time, transfer rate)

Amazing Design

Price

SSD

optical drive

USB 3.0

Cons:

limited ports (one USB 3.0)

Ivy Bridge (no Haswell)

1366_x_768 resolution

no dedicated volume buttons!

Shallow keyboard ( getting used to it)

Overall, Great laptop!

I've had this computer for a year and a half and was happy with it up until recently. I am a graduate student and when I first got this computer it had exactly what I needed and did everything wonderfully and in some ways still does. I was completely impressed by this computer. It was fast at completing all tasks when I got it and a year later after much usage and lots of space taken up it is still just as fast. It's a beautiful, sleek looking computer and it comes with a lot of great features. It has small lights that act as buttons at the top of the keyboard you lightly put your finger on and they do tasks such as launching itunes, muting audio, and playing/stopping/fastforwarding movies so you don't have to navigate to other windows or the desktop to complete tasks. It also has labelflash which is useful if you want custom labeled dvd's. I have burned hundreds of dvds and cds with this computer and have never had any problems and the burner is still going strong. I've never had any issues connecting to wireless internet and have even used this computer to connect to other computers wirelessly to transfer documents. I can have multiple windows and tabs open and it doesn't effect the speed of the computer. I can run games easily and it plays programs flawlessly. It has three usb outlets and I am able to run a usb mouse, a printer, and a usb disk at the same time if I need to. This computer in many ways is great.

It does have its not so great points though and the main one is that its parts broke down fast. Around three months after I got this computer I started having issues with the screen flickering. At first it only did it on rare occasions so I didn't think much about it, but after while, after it was too late for returns, it flickered worse and worse. Four months ago I couldn't move the laptop from my desk for fear of flickering. The screen eventually went out and I had to replace it. It's been three months since then and the screen worked fine after I replaced it until a few weeks ago when the flickering returned. I'm afraid I am going to have to replace another part in the laptop, either the display cable or another part. If you do your research toshiba laptops are notorious for having screens go out along with other parts even when they are fairly new. This is a huge drawback and if I had done better research beforehand I wouldn't have bought this laptop.

A second minor issue is one small turnwheel. The laptop has a small turnwheel on the front you can use to turn volume up and down. This stopped working pretty soon after I got the laptop but this hasn't really impacted me much because I rarely used it anyway.

Another issue I am having is that I have had to replace the power cord. I do not move my laptop around much. It usually sits stationary on my desk so I find it odd the power cord has a short in it when I barley move the laptop off of one spot. So far I have put a lot of money into fixing problems I shouldn't have had to deal with at early times in a laptops life. Instead of fixing the screen again I am just going to hook it up to an external monitor and let it sit stationary on my desk and use it as an at home computer because my screen issues have made it too unreliable to trust in the future. It's not a good computer to travel to school and home with and doesn't seem to react well to you opening and closing it and I think that is what is causing my current screen issues. Instead of putting more money into fixing my toshiba satellite I am just going to buy a new laptop. I have loved this laptop because it has been great with the exception of the repair issues I've had. I've accomplished a lot of work using this machine and it has produced well for me. I am sad to have to give up on this one after trying so hard to get it to work correctly but putting more money into it isn't a possiblity now because I need a laptop for school that isn't going to break down again and I can't be sure this one won't.

I purchased this laptop in March 2009. It was fast, had good video and sound--for a month, then we had video problems. The faulty hard drive and defective LCD cable harness were replaced in warranty. Today, 11/02/2010, it would not power up. I will have to pay $425 for a motherboard replacement. When it worked, it worked well, but to have to replace the main board, hard drive and video cable within two years is ridiculus. The reliability of this model is very questionable.

I bought this Toshiba laptop 3 years ago. Since then, my screen started flickering then it just went completely white, now its doing a long flash that prevents me from doing my work properly or watch a movie in peace. My keyboard is not working anymore and it's just pushing off an odd heat now. Looking at other people's comments, we all have the same issues. This is an unreliable machine and I would NEVER buy another Toshiba device again. Horrible! And here i thought HP was the worst! DO NOT BUY!

Honest reviews on Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4830 (AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80 Dual-Core

I bought this Toshiba laptop 3 years ago and it worked great for 1.5 years. At the 1.5 year mark, the screen started to flicker and died not long after that. I had to hook it up to an external monitor and used it as a 'desktop' because I figured the repair cost was too much. It hobbled on for another 1.5 years then died completely. I think my experience with Toshiba's poor reliability is very common, judging from reading many others' similar experience. I would never buy another Toshiba computer based on so many complaints by so many people. By the way, my 8-year-old Sony laptop is still going strong, slow but working still.

Samsung NP700Z5A-S03US 15.6-Inch Laptop Review

Samsung NP700Z5A-S03US 15.6-Inch Laptop
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Just received mine and finished going through setup. Not too much crapware installed. Nice option during setup to set partition sizes.

Out of the box Windows Experience Index: 5.9.

Processor: 7.5

RAM: 7.6

Graphics: 6.1

Gaming Graphics: 6.1

Hard disk: 5.9

I wish the arrow keys were a bit larger maybe 3/4 size (if not full size) instead of the 1/2 size that they are (on the other hand, I need to remember that the numeric keypad does double duty with full size navigation keys). I would have preferred to have power connection in the rear rather than the side.

Update Dec 13: The wifi antenna is giving me noticeably worse performance than my previous laptop. Working from the same chair, my 5 year old Dell D620 was getting link speeds of 36-48Mbps. This laptop is getting 5-18Mbps. Loss of 1 star.

Update Dec 14: There's no BREAK key on the keyboard! This forces you to use the mouse to enter/leave full screen remote desktop (instead of ctrl+alt+break). No ctrl+break either. The touchpad is taking some getting used to. It produces an audible click, but the force required to produce the audible is less than the force required for a mouse click to actually register with the OS need to see if that can be adjusted. The display has an ambient light sensor near the delete/home/end/page-up/page-down keys. Using those keys causes the display to dim. Disable the sensor via the easy settings apps.

Figured out the problem with the touchpad. It has a deadzone that is about 3/4" inch long by 1/2" tall. The deadzone is located on the left half of the bottom edge. The right-half works fine for right-click. Left-click is a bad experience. No clicks are ever registered in that zone even though the pad does make an audible click.

The external power supply isn't too large. But it makes a heck of a lot of noise even though it is on the floor underneath a table. I thought I was hearing clicking of disk drive head movement. Nope, the power supply makes a staticy-clicking sound whenever I alt+tab between windows. That sound is also made when using arrows keys to move up and down lists or when using the mouse to reposition scrollbars.

The bottom of the laptop is very smooth/slick. Keeps sliding around on my legs and requires that I apply downward force with my palms. I'll need to put some textured tape on the bottom.

Starting to regret this purchase...

Update Dec 15: The deadzone on the touchpad is getting smaller. But the lower right corner of the touchpad feels like it has gotten a flat tire. It is now noticeably lower than the rest of the touchpad and right-clicks are more difficult there as there is almost no travel left for clicks.

I now understand what the other reviewer wrote about jumpy cursor. The problem is due to the deadzone. When I do full left-right sweeps on the touchpad, it is very responsive except over the deadzone. Then the cursor hiccups it doesn't jump, it just stops moving, then starts moving again when my finger makes it to the other side of the deadzone.

I really want to like this machine (all the features are there and the form-factor is fantastic 1600x900 in a small 15 inches), but the wifi performance and touchpad durability/performance are killing it for me. Maybe this will also turn into a review of Samsung repair service.

Got AutoHotKey to map CapsLock to Break. Search for the "How to add a Pause/Break key to a keyboard that doesn't have one?" question at superuser com.

At every new user session, there are like 4 or 5 samsung apps (battery, easy settings, harddisk, ...) that require UAC elevation when you login if using a standard Windows account. Administrative accounts are only prompted 2 or 3 times. All of these apps are scheduled tasks that are triggered by login.

And the wifi performance still stinks.

Update Dec 17: I like the display and hardware (other than the wifi and the busted touchpad). I'll buy a new router to see if wifi performance improves. The touchpad will need repair, but I don't want to part with it quite yet. The dmhkcore.exe app that provides oem fn key functionality does not work properly with standard user accounts. It needs to be terminated and then restarted with admin privileges in order for fn+(f1, f2, f3 or f12) to work correctly (the other fn key combinations do work without admin privileges).

Update Dec 20: I got a new Netgear WNDR4000 dual-band N router (the old Linksys router did G). Wifi link speed improved but is still on average lower than my old laptop from my working position (read that as: the N performance of my new laptop is slightly lower than the G performance of my old laptop). If I move about 12 feet closer to the router, then I start to see what N is really about.

Update Dec 21: I checked out the B model that was on display at Best Buy. The touchpad is the same but that one did not have the deadzone that mine has. It does have a similar flat-tire right-click area.

Update Jan 6: check out the samsung forum over at notebookreview dot com.

Update Jan 18: This laptop does not support OpenGL running on the AMD graphics card. See the forum over at notebookreview. /samsung/630666-series-7-chronos-all-:models-push-samsung-implement-fixed-mode-bios-23.html#post8247924 and /samsung/630666-series-7-chronos-all-models-push-samsung-implement-fixed-mode-bios-23.html#post8248124

Update Feb 17: OpenGL issue is resolved with just released drivers. I removed the 4GB stick and replaced with 8GB now I have a total of 12GB. Nice.

Our biggest concern before buying this Samsung Series 7 laptop was the horror stories relating to poor Wi-Fi performance for units equipped with the Broadcom Wi-Fi card.

But a family member wanted it and asked me to set it up. I have now had a chance to use it for the last 6 weeks.

Fortunately Wi-Fi turned out to be OK (details below).

This laptop is fast, quiet and runs cool. The matte anti-glare display is very pleasing and bright.

It is a pleasure to use, the backlit keyboard is a must, no more fumbling in the dark.

It's also great that it is equipped with a full size HDMI port for connecting to a TV etc. By the way, it switches automatically to the dedicated AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics board when plugging into the HDMI.

Two of the three USB ports are USB 3.0 (great for fast data transfer to external drives)

It has a very large TrackPad which obeys somewhat similar hand-gestures you may have become used to from smart phone displays. I am a mouse fan and turn the pad off because my thumbs rest on it when I type making the cursor jump all over.

This Series 7 SO3US model comes with Win 7 Pro and a factory recovery disk that allows you to do a clean install (nice touch and almost unheard of these days).

The -SO3US model may be the best value as compared to the other models -S0AUS, -S0BUS, -S04US, -S09US etc. because the S03 comes with the maximum 8GB RAM, 1GB of dedicated graphics memory and Win 7 Professional already installed (although one of the other models has 1TB HDD).

It has 8 GB of RAM and a 750 GB 7200 RPM HDD.

This Series 7 is faster than a typical PC equipped with HDD (Hard Disk Drive) because Samsung equipped the motherboard with an 8GB SSD (Solid State Drive) used for faster execution of programs and boot-up (as compared to a PC with HDD only).

The optical drive loads the DVD automatically when partly inserted into the slot (similar to a Mac). Push Fn and Delete simultaneously to eject (not mentioned in the Quick Start instructions).

I personally prefer the old fashioned mechanical tray-loader with a push button for opening. The disadvantage of the slot loader type is that it may not accept the small diameter CDs often containing drivers for accessories (I did not dare try).

But I guess it is a matter of preference because you may prefer to download drivers from the manufacturer(s) website which will ensure that you always get the latest/updated version.

WI-FI PERFORMANCE

As mentioned our biggest concern before buying was the horror stories relating to poor Wi-Fi performance of Samsung Series 7 laptops equipped with the Broadcom Wi-Fi card.

The first thing I did after opening the box was to test the Wi-Fi signal strength using inSSDer 2.1 (free software). A great tool, it will show you all the routers in your area including signal strength (and much more).

My hart almost stopped when comparing the 15" Series 7 with my own 17" Samsung RF711 S03US.

I could only see 3 routers on the 15" Series 7 whereas I could see at least 16 routers on the 17". Also the signal intensity measured in dB (decibel) was significantly stronger on the 17" (a smaller negative number indicates higher signal strength = closer to zero).

Any difference is significant as 3 dB increase represent a DOUBLING in strength.

I was ready to pack it up and send it back but decided to put it to the test using "LAN Speed Test" a highly effective program to map and troubleshoot transfer speeds in your network.

To my surprise the 15" with the Broadcom Wi-Fi board did better over "long" distances compared to the 17" with the Intel Wi-Fi board. As you will notice the 17" did better at short distances where the speed was 1.5 to 2 times higher but "relatively poorly" at longer distances.

In my opinion the 15" Samsung Series 7 with the Broadcom Wi-Fi card came out as the winner in these tests.

SSD UPGRADE

The computer was fast in the factory configuration however if you desire EXTREME SPEED or longer battery life you can replace the original HDD with a SSD.

This is exactly what we did to this laptop and boy it's fast!

To find out how it's done click on this link .... Samsung 830 Series MZ-7PC512N/AM 512 GB 2.5 Inch SATA III MLC Internal SSD Laptop Kit with Norton Ghost 15 and search in the reviews for the heading: "NEED FOR SPEED! You got it... and without losing the factory F4 recovery option. HERE IS HOW!"

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS LAPTOP TO A FRIEND?

Absolutely, the factory configuration and performance is excellent. It is very thin, light and perfect for travel.

Only users that need to manipulate large graphics/video files or perhaps have been "spoiled" by SSD systems may want to consider a SSD upgrade. (This category will also want their computers connected via a wired network).

Some early versions of the Series 7 laptops that hit the market may have Wi-Fi issues (as reported in some early reviews and complaints all over the internet) however if you have problems, the first thing to do would be to verify that you have the latest drivers (I have added the Driver details and HOW TO DO THE TEST as a comment below this review).

Before this purchase, we compared a lot of different laptops and eventually ended up with this one over the Sony Series S VAIO laptop. The Sonys (in the store) were running so hot that the back was unpleasant to the touch.

A couple of important points

This 7 Series is up and running in TWO SECONDS from sleep mode and a reboot takes 22 seconds.

You only reboot once a week when you use the Fast Start feature (it will ask you once a week).

Also the backlit keyboard is fast and pleasant.

I hope this review can bring some facts to the table regarding the ongoing Intel/Broadcom Wi-Fi discussion and also help you find the right laptop.

Best Deals for Samsung NP700Z5A-S03US 15.6-Inch Laptop

I've used Desktop PCs for as long as I could remember and this is the first laptop I've ever purchased. However I did tons of research before I purchased this machine. So as a new laptop user, I just want to say I'm pleased I made the change to mobile computing.

The laptop has a lot pros, but it also has some cons that really stand out. The hardware itself is solid. Aluminum build with a clean brushed look on top. The keyboard is very easy to type on, but the edge of the laptop is sharp and it digs into your wrist while your typing. It's more than a minor annoyance. You'll find yourself lifting your wrist off (mainly your right wrist) to see the marks the edge leaves behind. I'm not going to lie, the edge is sharp enough to put in some pain. I suggest wearing a wrist band while typing.

Another issue that bugged me a little bit was the video graphics. If you don't optimize the graphics to play videos off the web, such as Facebook videos, the video itself will get scrambled. It will continue to play, as you'll still hear the audio, but the video will be glitched. And it just won't happen once. It will continue to happen until you go into the Catalyst Control Center and deal with the issue.

Seeing that I'm coming from a desktop PC, I really don't have much to compare the battery life to. But from using the computer for over 6 hours continuously, with WiFi on, I can say that it's sufficient enough to get you through a full day's worth of work.

The backlit keyboard is beautiful, and the display is straight up gorgeous. The "max screen" technology they added to the display really helps it stand out among other laptops. The viewing angles, however could have been a little better.

For the price of the laptop, I wish a BluRay player added instead of a DVD writer. But in the end, you'll be trading the BluRay for the newest i7 quad core processor, and a top the line graphics card. So in my opinion it evens out. Besides, who uses physical discs for anything anymore? :P

I haven't played any games on this yet so I really can't say much about the graphics itself.

Pros

Backlit keyboard

Fast start up from cold start or sleep

Sleek look

NumPad

Slot load Disc Drive instead of Tray Load

Long Battery Life

Cons

Edge of laptop digs into wrist, leaving marks

Graphics aren't set up out of the box

No BluRay Drive

Jumpy mouse

I would Recommend this item to others.

Honest reviews on Samsung NP700Z5A-S03US 15.6-Inch Laptop

There is a common issue with the space key on this laptop in that pressing it on the edge will often not register even if you press really hard. This is incredibly irritating for a touch typist, but today I solved the problem on my laptop! So if you have the same issue see my video on the quick fix over at . Basically you just need to stick a square of paper between the space bar and its pressure sensor.

Also note that this S03US version is functionally exactly the same as the S01US version, with the only difference being that the first 4GB of RAM is permanently attached to the motherboard on the S03US. The S02US and S04US are likewise functionally identical. The Best Buy version (I don't know the product code) is completely different though. I have no idea why anyone would buy that one.

Among the positives for this laptop are its speedy CPU and GPU, readable resolution on the bright non-reflective 15" display, light weight, stylish form factor, really superb battery life, a great backlit keyboard (once the space key problem is resolved), and a good amount of RAM and hard drive storage.

Because the positives are so great I am giving this laptop 5 stars even though it has several negatives.

First, the space key issue. This is a quality control issue that should have never occurred, and I hope Samsung will send new space bar keys to all the people who bought this laptop. But until then, you can try the quick fix I referenced above.

The choice of DVD instead of blu-ray is odd and perplexing. However, I so rarely use even the DVD and to be honest I would probably never use blu-ray if it were included, so as strange as it is that the feature is missing, I don't mind.

I am not pleased with the choice of the broadcom wifi, which does not support 5ghz wifi. I have opened up this laptop, which is very easy (close the LCD, flip it over, remove the ten screws on bottom, then flip it back over, open the LCD and gently pry the case shell loose along the edges and then close the LCD and flip it over again and gently pull the bottom off), and replacing the broadcom wifi adapter with the Intel 6230 part should be very easy [SEE EDIT BELOW]. There are only 2 antenna wires, so getting the 3 antenna version would be pointless. Also, be sure to get the one with bluetooth if you try this, otherwise you will lose bluetooth since it is provided by the broadcom wifi adapter.

The webcam camera does not work well in low light. Meh. Turn on a light, I guess.

I use the touch pad as little as possible and prefer to use a mouse. It seems to work alright for me when I need it, but I sometimes disable it while typing so I can rest my palms while typing.

Overall the negatives are not a big deal for me.

Edit Dec-2012: It is indeed very easy to replace the broadcom wifi/bluetooth adapter with the Intel 6230 part. Do NOT get the newer Intel 6235 part as it WILL NOT WORK, as I discovered. Some people have also reported issues with getting the 6230 to work, but the trick is to uninstall all Broadcom software related to the wifi/bluetooth BEFORE installing the 6230. This very importantly includes the WIDCOMM Bluetooth SOftware software. You should also download the Intel drivers for the 6230, and install them after you have removed the Broadcom software. Then open up the laptop and swap the parts and reboot. Your mileage may vary, but it worked for me.

I can tell you right now, this computer is poorly designed and poorly serviced. My laptop has already been back to Samsung THREE TIMES!! The space bar has never worked right! I type with my hands in an upright position and usually only tap the outside edges of the space bar. If you do not hit the space bar within 1 inch of exact center, IT DOESN'T WORK!

The first time I sent my Laptop back it was due to HD failure.

The second time was because the DVD drive was grinding and failing

This time my Video card went out..

SAMSUNG'S RESPONSE: Samsung would like to provide you with an exchange offer of Model: NP700Z5C-S02US.

Based on the features and specifications of your original unit Samsung feels that this is the most comparable unit based on our inventory.

THIS IS A DOWNGRADE!!!

I offered to pay the difference to let me upgrade to a newer version. Their answer was: NO how about a refund??

The worst part is.. I wanted to love this computer, it was my first laptop purchase in years.

ASUS B53S-XH71 (15.6-Inch Screen) Laptop Review

This was my first venture into ASUS land and it starts out with disappointment.

I pulled it out of the box and it would not power up. I called ASUS support who cordially walked me through a few tests and determined that there was a problem with the motherboard or the power circuit and the unit should be returned.

I'm hoping this is just a fluke. I opted for the exchange. Maybe I'll be able to give it a higher rating if I can get a working unit...

UPDATE:

The replacement unit is working like a champ. I had zero trouble exchanging it. In fact, they shipped the new unit before the old one was picked up from my house.

It's a bit bigger than I expected. It just barely fit into the backpack laptop case I had for my old machine. The touchpad click is annoyingly sensitive. I ended up disbaling that and just using the buttons for clicks.

The screen is a little disappointing out of the box. Tweaking the saturation, tint, etc.... improves it, but it's still not a fantastic display unfortunately. Other than that, I have to say the fingerprint reading software is a bit glitchy -it sometimes gives an error and will not let the user to login with his/her fingerprint. That's a bummer. The hard drive is also a bit on the slow side in terms of actual performance.

Why, then, would I give this a rating of good? Because this is in comparison to powerful desktops and significantly more expensive laptops. For the price, it's not bad.

Were I to buy this computer again, I'd probably pull the HDD and put in an SSD with a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate. Then, I expect, this would be a truly fine machine.

This is the first time I've ever written a review even though I shop on Amazon ALL the time. I am so disgusted that I had to write this review. This the most pathetic excuse for a computer I've ever owned. Here's the brief history:

Purchased 12/22/11 from Amazon.

Loading software a week later (first use), CD drive broke CD (Office 2010) got stuck inside computer. Had to ship computer off to ASUS(I had to pay $41 in shipping to get it repaired) to retrieve CD and to unfreeze the system. Had the Office CD not been stuck inside, I would have demanded immediate refund from Amazon.

Got the computer back, and the repair sheet said optical drive had been replaced. Loaded software successfully. Next day when I tried to load a CD to reinstall my printer software, CD drive was broken. Computer wouldn't recognize drive at all. Sent it off again. Got it back around Jan. 27. Jan. 29, transferred data and started using computer.

Feb. 2, 10:30 a.m. (4th day of regular use), computer shut down out of the blue.

Since then, it has been shutting down and restarting out of the blue as well as after getting an error message saying "AMD driver stopped responding but has recovered." I have not called ASUS until today because I knew their response would be "send it in," and I don't have the time or patience to deal with that. But I did break down and call today. The ONLY solutions offered were (1) reinstall the operating system to see if the problem is a software problem. If that doesn't fix it, then go to option 2, send it to ASUS. I asked the tech support guy if reinstalling the operating system would mean that I would have to buy licenses for the software (such as Office 2010 and Word 2010), and he said yes. So, he wanted me to spend hundreds of dollars on new software just to see "if" the problem was a software problem. Of course I said no. I inquired about a refund, and he said I would have to request it through Amazon. Amazon's policy is 30 days for new computers. My mistake was that I didn't request a refund the first time the CD drive broke when I was installing software. I've learned my lesson.

Also, the customer service is pathetic. I was told today that they do not have the capability to remotely access a computer (like Dell and probably other companies do) to try to fix a problem. They also only have a "few" local contract tech people who can try to repair computers locally. I do not live in an area where there are any contracted tech people. So, my only option is to pack up and send off the computer to see "if" they can repair this piece of junk and hope they don't wipe the system clean.

I forgot to add the touch pad is the worst ever. If you just place your finger on the touchpad, the cursor jumps around as much as one inch. I have changed every setting I can find. Oh, and I forgot about the time the touchpad quit working all together. Luckily I had an old plug-in mouse, so I was able to use that to download a new touchpad driver.

I called my local computer guy, and he agreed about ASUS's customer service, and he said he unfortunately cannot recommend ASUS anymore solely becaue of the poor tech support.

So, this has been my personal experience as a first-time and last-time ASUS purchases. It has been nothing but one problem after another. I regret that I spent a good $1000 on this computer.

Well, I usually never review anything I purchase but figured for once I should give back a little since I am always scouring the internet before buying anything.

I have a software engineering background, work a lot with computers, and have a custom built PC back at home.

I plan on continuing to update this review as I have this laptop. I just purchased it two days ago as of today.

The S400 Touch by Lenovo:

Picked this up from Fry's for their 1-Day deal for 400$, seemed liked a pretty good deal to me since it was pretty cheap for a touch screen and I have been looking for a new budget laptop. Expensive laptops are great, but I work in a chemistry lab a lot and like to not worry about breaking my stuff. Breaking a 400$ Lenovo is much better than breaking a 2000$ MacBook Pro. Also, insurance is for suckers, they make a profit off it, that's why they sell it to you.

Anyway, I use the laptop for school and my own personal work. So far I must say I am pretty pleased with the item. The touch screen isn't bad and the keyboard is your usual Lenovo (IBM) comfortable keyboard. I enjoy typing on it. I used to own a T61 Thinkpad before and a W520 as well. A Toshiba before that, and the others I can't remember. The screen is nice for the laptop size.

Aesthetically, the laptop looks great as well. The only thing I don't like about the look is it seems like they tried to squeeze the already small battery in there. So there's this lump near the screen that looks kind of funky, and causes the upper end of the laptop to be a bit more bulky. I originally purchased the Yoga but returned it for the S400 Touch. Frankly I was not THAT impressed for a laptop that cost me 600$ more without much of a performance increase. Yeah, the processor is better, but if I wanted power I'd be getting a desktop replacement laptop, and the Yoga doesn't have 1080p or independent graphics.

Why do I bring up the Yoga? Well to be honest I am pretty pleased with this new purchase. Saved 600$ and I can't flip my screen. Still have the touch though, which in my opinion you need for Windows 8 unless you want to hate yourself.

Also, missing an SSD, but hey, you can always replace that yourself, no biggie. Once again, this was a 400$ touch screen laptop.

I am going to give this laptop 3 stars for now because I am a pretty tough critic. As time progresses and I continue to be pleased it will make it up to 4 stars unless I find some major issue. If you are looking for a budget laptop that works with windows 8, I would recommend this laptop. I plan on keeping it for a while.

Thanks and good luck.

The computer starts up every time and seems to get all the jobs done that I need it to however a bit annoying to use:

If I forget to turn of the mouse pad it inevitably will highlight all that i'm writing and erase it (and windows 8 has no "undo" function in the email app:-( ). MOST of the time the kill button for the mouse pad doesn't work which is super lame.. I have to hit it over and over and then finally it wakes up. I'm very disappointed in how ALL other key/mouse pad functions work sporadically. (I MEAN ALL OF THEM) The mouse pad has two finger scrolling for example.. only works sometimes.. I wish it didn't have the feature if its not going to work.. I'd rather have the scrolling on the side of the mouse pad at the very least but it doesn't have that because it has the "two finger works when it feels like it" feature... Over all i'm not all that impressed with Lenovo and wouldn't recommend this nor will I ever buy one of these again. I previously had a Toshiba and it was soooo much better.. I'll go back to them on my next one as I had it for 6 years never had a problem, and all the features worked all the time. I'm guessing it has something to do where these products are designed. I live where the Lenovo is designed and its very much like many things there, 7/10ths. Almost there, but skimping on that last 3 of the 10 is what makes this computer okay and not great...

But on the plus side its light, it was cheap and the battery life is pretty long (more than a couple of hours).

I have my qualms with windows 8 being super dumbed down but that has little to do with the computer so i'll spare you needing to read about that..

I bought it as gift for my god son who is in college. He loves it. He was so excited to learn that it is a touch screen. This is a lot of computer for the price.

Honest reviews on Lenovo IdeaPad S400 14-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Silver)

This thing is awful. I admin IT for our company. We bought it for the office because we needed a Windows machine and it's hilariously bad. Slow as hell, can barely handle the Windows 8 nonsense. Screen broke within weeks--returned. New machine doesn't have a working WiFi card. There were literally a pile of returns of this machine at Best Buy. Lenovo's ThinkPad legacy is long gone. Avoid at all costs.

Not a monster of a machine by any means, but for light web surfing and DVD viewing, it does the trick. Also, with iLife '06 (which I purchased separately), I can record music and do a little video editing. All for a very reasonable price.

I have samsung series 9 second gen 13" with intel core i5, 4gb ram and 128ssd and I found it very good.

But with this new laptop it is bigger, it 15" with intel core i7, 8gb ram and 254 ssd, so it is even much better.

The only thing that I do not really like is win 8. I still prefer to use win 7.

Got this laptop with the win7 several months ago. Didn't yet get a chance to do a lot of work on it as it's a backup to my desktop. But lately it's been heating up like crazy. Had to put it in the refrigerator. Must say I'm surprised, as my husband has one of the earlier models of the Samsung Series 9 for over a year as his main computer and it doesn't heat up like this. Not even close.

I'd welcome Samsung comment on this.

I just bought this computer about three weeks ago. Love the screen, bluray player is beautiful, super fast. I upgraded it to 4gb of ram but it was fast without it. I bought it for design work. Runs the entire Adobe CS3 Suite super fast.

Cons: Took me two days to uninstall all of the trial and other junk software installed by Sony. Battery life is horrible. I bought another power supply so I have one at work and one at home. The minute I unplug the thing from the wall it says 91% battery life remaining. ??? I have never seen such horrible battery life. I got used to my old Gateway that gave me 4 hours of battery life. I'm lucky if I get an hour just browsing the internet. This above all is the only thing that is bad about this machine. If the battery were better I would give it five stars.

I purchased a computer and it arrived. Taking the machine out of the box, I was very pleased with the look and feel and design of the computer itself. However, after the computer booted up, I realized just how unusable this product was out of the box. The machine comes with more trialware installed than any reasonable person should have to put up with. The software was so overrun with trialware that the machine crawled after booting up. All of the trialware started popping up dialogs asking me to update my software and and asking me to purchase full versions. The computer was utterly useless. I had to format the computer and put a clean version of Windows Vista on the box. However, this machine doesn't come with ANY disk -not even a recovery disk. If you want a recovery disk, you have to pay for it. The downside to that is, even if you had a recovery disk, you'd still end up installing all of the trialware again.

Sony did a great job with the computer, but their execution on the full user experience makes me rate this computer poorly. Had Sony at least given me the ability to completely wipe the computer to a clean Vista install, I would have rated it a 2. Had they simply supplied installation CDs for the trialware and shipped the clean machine without anything pre-installed, I would have given this computer a 4 our of 5. Thanks for listening.

I was nervous about buying a new computer with Windows Vista, but, this computer is sweet! It is fast and has improved my ability to communicate with my office significantly. Other than a blip with one program, which I was able to fix with an upgrade to the program, Vista has worked fine.

The computer itself is thin, lightweight, and a great performer. I was able to watch feeds from Live Earth this past weekend -it was able to keep up and give me a very decent screen to watch. I look forward to taking it on the road and viewing DVDs. The touchpad mouse is an improvement from my last laptop as it is not quite as smooth and responds better to my movement. To-date the battery life has been better than my previous model as well.

Honest reviews on Sony VAIO VGN-FZ180U/B 15.4" Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor

Sony VAIO VGN-FZ180E/B 15.4" Notebook PC (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7300, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, Vista Home Premium)

I own a 1st generation Powerbook Aluminum. And while I love my PB it is getting quite 'long in the tooth'. I was shopping for a replacement, and the new MacBooks start at $1999.00. A bit pricey. So I started looking at Windows laptops. The VAIO, by far, offers the best feature set, for the amount of money spent. Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo 2GH processor, 2GB ram, 200GB HD, and a Blu-Ray disc burner for under $1400!!

The machine is very peppy. The xbrite display is jaw dropping gorgeous! Very bright, colors seem vibrant, warm.

Setup was a breeze, and Vista practically connected itself, to my wireless network.

The laptop is very robust. I have had several programs open at once, including a desktop workspace manager application, for managing multiple desktops, and I did not experience any performance issues.

If there is a 'downside' to this laptop, it is that Sony loads it with so much bloatware, adware, trialware, none of which in my opinion adds any value to the machine. Boot-up time, out of the box, was a bit slow, but was noticeably faster, and quite acceptable, once I eliminated non-essential programs, from startup.

Simply put, build/finish is very nice, solid feel, robust management of multiple applications with little degradation in performance, inclusion of Blu-Ray burner sealed the deal, as the features provided, are well worth the money that was spent. A good value!

I agree with a lot of people on how much junk Sony preloads on this computer. I have removed a lot of it, but there is still more to go.. I've been using this computer about 1 month and have had NO problems.. Definitely worth what I paid for it!

When I found this deal it was for the previous unit the 2728. It was 399.00 at Best Buy. I can gladly say I wouldn't hesitate to purchase at a higher price.

I will put this review together as I wanted to see when I was researching:

Is it fast enough? I have Google chrome (7 tabs), Opera (3 tabs), Evernote, Word, Excel, WMV player, and Mozilla (7 tabs) all open as I type this and the CPU is ranging from 10% to 30% and the memory from 30% to 60%. So, if this describes your usual desktop, yes...it's fast enough. (One thing I cannot under-emphasize...while a well working and efficient computer is important, for web surfing, slow internet is slow internet. A newer computer will definitely help when doing other activities while surfing the web and that's why I had to have this computer)

It's fairly light...which is why the battery doesn't last forever...but it is consistent at over 4 hours unplugged.

The construction feels solid.

Windows 8 takes a little to get used to and to find the cheats/short cuts, but it isn't terrible.

There were other computers with more memory and bigger hard drives, but the bang for the buck of this computer was too good to pass up. And I have yet to max the 4GB this computer has and I'm using external drives for most of my pictures and large files...so I'm not worried about filling this 500GB hard drive.

I actually took the time to find a place I could write a review because I really like this laptop. So hopefully this emphasizes how much I have enjoyed this purchase.

This is a laptop that has a lot of great features, but ultimately I had to return it due to the subpar keyboard, hot pink color, and "sticky" pointer. I only need a computer for pretty basic functions (no major gaming or burning or anything), but it still fell short.

The laptop looks great, other than the hot pink, shiny frame around the keyboard, which is so bright it distracts from what is on the screen. It is lightweight, has beautiful HD display, and is quite fast for the things I used it for (schoolwork, streaming, music), and the volume can go pretty high.

The keys on the keyboard had to be hit directly in the center and pressed on harder than with any other laptop I've tried. Typing a paragraph on this computer resulted in many words with missing letters here and there. This issue could probably be fixed by an external keyboard, but that's not what I wanted. Also, less of a problem but still annoying, the pointer often got "stuck" for a second or two before it began responding to movement on the touchpad. It looks like these are common issues: http://www.cnet.com/laptops/asus-zenbook-ux31e-dh53/4505-3121_7-35033684.html

I love Asus, and most know that they create quality computers. A side note, my cousin's fiance has been working at Best Buy for five years as a part of the Geek Squad and informed me about the best computers on the market (Asus being one of those top brands). I also own a larger, 15.6-inch Asus laptop. My reason for purchasing this laptop is for the upcoming school year; I wanted something light, portable, sufficient memory, and multi-functional. I am a software engineer, so I wanted something that I could use for coding, as well as for taking notes in other classes. This computer is brilliant. I have been using it for hours and am entirely satisfied. A $400 laptop that is sleek, light, touch-screen, lots of memory, and efficient? Sold. The model of this computer is very appealing and couldn't ask for any better. No bulging battery, looks similar to an Apple computer. I love it and am looking forward to bringing this all over campus! If you need a computer to bring wherever you go, buy this computer! I've also noticed that it goes for around $500 on other online stores and nearly $700 at Walmart. Don't let the price on Amazon deceive you for this quality computer! :)

Also, those 1-star reviews are bogus and hurt the overall scoring on the computer. One is a lady complaining about a computer that doesn't work (not the actual, working computer); the other ranting about how she detests Asus. If you want lousy plastics and sub-par hard drives, buy an HP or Dell!

UPDATE: 10/19/2013 Okay, so I've had this thing for a WHILE now, and I wanted to update this review. So here we go!

My ASUS G750JX-DB71 came with a 256GB SSD and I went to swap it out with my 480GB SSD that I put in my old G74SX. When I took out the G750's SSD, I realized it was a 7mm SSD, which fits PERFECTLY in the X202E. This thing boots up in just a few seconds, and now it even comes out of standby faster. With the 500GB HDD (that came with it), there would be times when you had Chrome open (with a few tabs) and you wouldn't be able to do ANYTHING for a little bit. When you look down, you'd see the HDD light staying SOLID... Not even flashing or hesitating. After the slow stock hdd calmed down, then the computer would be responsive again. You do NOT have those problems with an SSD! Whenever it's reading from the hard drive or when the ram is full (because of to many open tabs and applications), it pulls from the SSD. But it's so fast, that it doesn't slow you down at all! If you google me "wwjoshdew", I'll have a video on how to open this thing up and put an SSD in it. Remember, it HAS to be a 7mm SSD, a 9mm one won't fit. I HIGHLY recommend the one linked to below!

Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive MZ-7TE250BW

With a USB 3.0 flash drive combined with an SSD, you can transfer files at over 200MB/s to the Patriot Supersonic Magnum flash drive!

Patriot Supersonic Magnum 64 GB Flash Drive Black (PEF64GSMNUSB)

Also, I updated my X202E to Windows 8.1 really easily by visiting the store from my X202E and simply pressing download... Installation was easy, pain free, and all of my programs and files survived the update just fine. Plus I'm pretty sure it starts up faster now (I disabled hiberation and quick stat up. NOT NEEDED with an SSD!)

My ONLY Complaint with this thing is that when you have power save enabled (it turns it on when you reboot), you KNOW it's on... It's slower and YouTube videos stutter and pause so freaking much. Turn on performance mode, and 1080p YouTube videos look and play good. I also recommend uninstall power4gear hybrid and installing the latest version (3.0.5 as I type this review). Some of the programs and drivers have updates OUT OF THE BOX!

ALSO, Google a tool called "ASUS Backtracker" if you plan on upgrading to an SSD! It will take your recovery partition from your HDD and copy it to a 16GB Flash Drive. I recommend doing that ASAP and putting that flash drive in the box that your X202E came with, so that you know where it is if your HDD dies, or if you want to upgrade to an SSD and need to reinstall Windows 8.

MY INITIAL REVIEW IS BELOW!

I'm actually typing this review from the laptop. So far I'm impressed. I opened it up (If you search "wwjoshdew", I posted high resolution photos on Twitter) and the hard drive is easy to replace, but the ram is SOLDERED in! You can clearly see that in the pictures. I can't post a link, but on my Twitter I tweeted a link to an imgur album with several photos. 4GB is okay I guess. I'm going to be putting this 120GB Vertex 3.20 SSD in it and if the computer ever needs to read/write from the hard drive because all of the ram is used up, it will be really quick and you probably won't notice it.

The touchscreen feels GREAT! I review the latest Android smartphones and tablets, and let me tell you... I have many tablets and phones (all touchscreen) and I feel RIGHT AT HOME using this ASUS X202E-DB1T.

The fact that you can't upgrade the ram is a little disappointing, but if you upgrade to an SSD, you probably won't notice a difference (goes back to the whole reading/writing to the insanely fast SSD if the ram is full).

Usually I make it towards my computer doesn't go to sleep when I close the lid, but there is literally only a two second (or so) gap in between opening the lid, and being able to "swipe up" on the screen to use it like you were before closing the lid. So I think I'll keep it this way and only make it NOT do that when it's plugged in (under advanced power options and close lid options).

So far I'm very impressed and love this thing! I don't find myself using the track pad at all! And there is no need to carry around a mouse, because touching the screen is way faster and more convenient than using a mouse or track pad.

I'm on my very first charge, so I'll update this review as time goes on and after I put this SSD in it and clone/restore the internal hard drive that's in this thing.

07/31/2013 UPDATE: I'll need to kill it and charge it a few more times to give you accurate battery life. I just installed Steam and loaded MW3... Without changing ANY settings, it played pretty smoothly! (youtube.com/watch?v=-7dygM0Bk5Y&hd=1)

The SD Card slot is cool. Usually laptops suck the whole card in it, this one it sticks out. So no worrying about the mechanism breaking and not being able to get your sd card out.

This thing only picks up my 2.4Ghz network, NOT my 5Ghz network. Plus the ethernet port is 100Mbps, BUT it has a USB 3.0 port, so Plugable's USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter will get you a FULL 1Gbps link speed! (I have 120 Down and 25 Up with Comcast. I'm able to pull 116 Down EASILY with the USB 3.0 port and Plugable USB 3.0 to 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Network Adapter)

For 399, you have to settle somewhere. Plus there are USB 3.0 docks (Plugable UD-3000 USB 3.0 Universal Docking Station for Windows 8, 7, XP (DVI, VGA, or HDMI to 2048x1152, Gigabit Ethernet, Audio, 2 USB 3.0 Ports, 4 USB 2.0 Ports, 4A AC Power Adapter)) that let you use that USB 3.0 port to it's full potential! Gigabit Ethernet, extra USB 3.0 and 2.0 Ports, DVI, HDMI, audio, and etc. I'm not complaining at all! This thing was worth it to me.

Best Deals for ASUS X202E-DB21T 11.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Grey)

After returning the ASUS Vivotab Smart Tablet because of weird and unexplained quirks and failures, I ordered this one because of the more traditional specs and full-blown Windows 8. After some software anomalies in respect to Windows Update, (it doesn't tell you the progress of the downloads and installation which makes you think nothing is happening), but everything else worked fine. I was very disappointed in the description of this unit when Amazon failed to mention that THIS model DID NOT have Bluetooth (I just assumed it did). Not a problem though because I ordered the Kinivo BTD-400 Bluetooth Adapter, plugged it in, and the software automatically downloaded (Windows 8), and this thing grabbed Bluetooth devices I didn't know I had!

It is not a perfect little machine by any means but damn it's good. I have had astronomically more good and surprisingly good experiences with it than disappointments. Wireless works well and fast. Boot up is fast! Touch screen works very well with no lapses, freezing, or failure to respond to touch.

Windows 8 will require a learning curve and sometimes the interaction between this unit and Windows is peculiar, but it is there and functional. Most of the time it's that pop yourself in the forehead and saying; "ahh there it is, why didn't I see that" kind of thing!

I gave it five stars because it's worthy of it. For what it was designed to do, and keeping in mind that no computer is perfect, this one does abundantly well what it was designed to do!

Honest reviews on ASUS X202E-DB21T 11.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Grey)

Normally I don't write reviews, but seeing how I read reviews prior to purchasing this laptop I figured I'd return the favor for someone else.

Alright, right of the bat I'll say if you're looking for a laptop with a long battery life THIS IS NOT IT!

I actually debated about sending it back multiple times because the battery life is beyond poor for this type of notebook. If I'm surfing the internet and messing with apps, I'll get about 3hrs max. Also, these apps aren't very demanding they're not games or anything like that. I bought this for school, and it seems to be doing the job fairly well so far. I just have to make sure I charge it fully before I take it for the day. Normally, I'll have to charge it while I'm there as well. It's unfortunate.

Ok aside from that, it's a pretty good laptop for the money. I paid the $399 + Tax which came out to about $430. It's very light (compared to what I was using) and pretty thin for it's class/price. One thing I've been using a lot more than I thought is the touch screen. I figured it would be inefficient holding your arm up to use a laptop that had a keyboard with a trackpad, but it actually isn't anything like that.

Well, I'll end it here. If you're looking for a computer for school/work it should handle it pretty well, but don't expect to leave your charger at home. Hope this helps...

EDIT: Alright, after using this laptop after another day I can't take it anymore. I like to browse a few different websites at the same time, so I almost always have multiple tabs open. I also like to have some music going too, and for some reason this laptop just can't handle it. It connects to my router strong, but surfing the internet is now a hassle compared to my old computer. I have to wait a few extra seconds after the web page loads to be able to scroll or click on it, this ultrabook just isn't fast whatsoever. It's constantly 'micro freezing-up' if that makes sense. It's just not responsive at all. I wouldn't recommend this laptop to a college student, it may work as someone's first computer but that may be it.

I've decided to return it because I like my computers lasting atleast 2 years, and I don't know if I can go another 2 weeks with this thing. Again, this is my opinion you may like it, I thought I was going to after reading the reviews, but that's not the case. Hopefully the return process with amazon is easy. Maybe I'll update this review again in the future and let you know.

I bought a light portable laptop that i could use for college. I will say that this a perfect laptop for a budgeting college student. The mouse pad is the perfect size, its not too small and not big enough to get in the way when you type! The Touch Screen is flawless and works great. The windows 8 interface and touch screen work really well together when reading my college Ebooks. young college freshman that are wanting a hybrid laptop for gaming and school, do not get this laptop. This laptop is strictly for business use only, it is not a gaming machine.

I have to say this device is pretty amazing... It runs photoshop, the full office suite, and my developer environments (mainly visual studio 2012) with no issues at all.

Its so fast you really don't know its a tablet, the screen and build is just great.. sure, if you are going to use it for a desktop replacement you might want to spring for a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse they are totally usable but a little cramped for heavy use.

p.s. the battery, given the power of this device is really not bad at all its just lasted 4 hours on my lap, developing in one window, while watching a video in another.. all while I sit in bed !

Love it !!

My first impression when I picked up this tiny Ultrabook was WOW!!!!!!

It's so light and fell in love immediately. You pull up on the back of the screen and it pops up into laptop mode. It's really cool. Folks keep coming by just to see it pop open then slide closed. (oooh do it again!)

It's hard to believe that you get a full on Win8 PC in such a tiny package.

Pros:

Light weight + very cool styling

Solid feel: the sliding hinge may raise some eyebrows when you first look at it but I have to say after using it for some time it's rock solid.

The touch screen is stunning at 1080p(IPS). The Win8 tiles are also a breeze to scroll through.

It's really powerful. Much better than my work PC.

Cons:

So why 1 star off? Quite simply, the keyboard is too small to use for every day productivity. If I hooked it up to an external monitor/keyboard everytime I needed to do work it'd be absolutely fine. (can't always do that when traveling)

Conclusion: The title says it all

First of all, I'd like to highlight the quality of service of the supplier. The product was shipped even before the predicted time and was delivered three weeks before the predicted arrival time. In addition to that, it was well wrapped-up. So, great supplier.

The product is amazing: material quality, resolution, weight, and size. You don't compare this product to tablets like iPad, it is way advanced. It is a powerful machine that you can use to develop and do thing within this line. At the same time, you can use it as a normal regular tablet to surf the net.

It comes with a stylus (a pen). A sensitive stylus that would detect the pressure.

You need to get use to the keyboard.

other than that the product is amazing!

Very fast and efficient. Only limitation is the windows mail. Otherwise smokin' fast. This is my 3rd SSD hard drive laptop and it is as fast if not faster than the mac book air and pro.

Will buy again for sure. I will recommend this for home, mobile or even gamers like me. This bad boy is even faster than my desktop.

I love the illuminated keyboard, Windows 8 fast boot time and the touch screen very responsive. Try using the stylus with Sketchbook Pro and you will know what I'm talking about.

I bought this laptop advertised as brand new. It was about the same price as what the Dell website offered, but I went with Amazon and this seller because they could ship faster and cheaper with my Prime account.

I had a warranty issue so I called Dell customer service. I had my service tag number, receipt, everything, but Dell told me the computer is registered to another owner. I went round and around with Dell but they told me point blank that if I can't provide the name and address of the original owner they will not honor the warranty. I asked Amazon about it and Amazon said I've got to take it up with the seller.

To make a long story short, a friend helped me out and the computer works now. If you want to buy a laptop at premium price and get no warranty and a smack down from the manufacturer, the shipper, and the seller, then buy from these guys.
