This computer will work well for you if you don't plan to play games or watch movies. We got it for my son and had to return it due to it's slow processing. The sound was minutes behind the video when we attempted to watch Netflix. My son was also not able to play his favorite computer games due to the slow processing.

Honest reviews on Asus X53U-FS11 15.6" Laptop (AMD Dual-Core Processor C-60

Got it around Christmas time. So far, so good. It's a jewel for the price and tackles all I need to do well: Lots of documents, some spreadsheets, play with photos, slideshows, web design, and some video streaming. I haven't done any video editing on it, but I'm thinking it will be fine for my needs. I don't play high-end computer games. My Sweetie put Unreal and some Steam games on his and has no problem with them, but we did max out the RAM, so I'm sure that makes a difference for his gaming.

We're huge Asus fans. I have an Eee netbook I use for back and forth at work (I teach at college so I'm in different rooms all the time), and I've never had a problem with it.

The keyboard is fine, but my big hands constantly bump the mousepad--that's not a new problem with me, so I work around it. The screen's a nice size and has good resolution for me. Flawlessly picked up the WiFi and network printer.

If you're looking for a good basic laptop for common computing applications, I recommend this one.

I bought two of these last September (2012) one for my self, one for my father. For the most part, I like it. However I have found that even with an upgrade to 8 gigs of memory their is a definitely slow processing capability inherent with the C-60 dual core AMD process and on board video. Even with all the latest drivers, and BIOS watching streaming Netflix, Hulu, or even Youtube videos is agonizing. The video often lags the audio by as much as 5 minutes at times. Even running simple programs the CPU is peeked out at 100% and the overall processing speed of the machine is very very slow. The build of it is solid and it looks great. The video quality is very good in HD. The audio is a big lacking though. I'd recommend a good USB or standard audio head set. Additionally, the touch pad, even with the smart pad technology, is very very very touchy and "emotional." In fact I'd say that THAT issue is the most bothersome for me. Over all if you just want a basic slow laptop to serve as a kids tool, not good for video, or gaming, just basic school work, this PC is budgeted well for that task. Otherwise buy a higher end ASUS for better performance in streaming video or gaming.

I searched around for a long time trying to find a good balanced notebook/laptop. I chose this ASUS because of its look and features--it is a gift for my wife. I wanted to give her something that would be up-to-date and provide her with rich features and elegant look...this K52F-A1 provides that! Though I am the one that set it up after receiving it--I let her unpackage it and do all the basic setup--by updating the Windows 7 Update, she loves this laptop. I could tell by the look in her face she was very pleased with the gift. It has good clean crisp look, the screen has amazing clarity. The keyboard is smooth, easy to use, with all the keys easy to touch. Each key has the appropriate amount of space between each key. My wife commented that it was very light weight, not the heavy laptop that it looks to be. She loved that it is light. After taking the laptop into my hands, I could see why she stated that...it is very light, though it looks heavier because of the sturdy construction. Very sturdy and strong. I like the matted look & feel of the palm rest and the touchpad. This is a great product with rich features (Core i3, 4Gb DDR3, 320Gb HD, etc.) for the price! It doesn't have everything I want in a laptop, but for anyone needing top-of-the-line with a budget, it is an excellent choice. Which is why I give it 5-stars. I am very pleased I chose this and that Amazon.com provided great service; arrived on time, strong packaging, and just all great service. Thanks Amazon.com!ASUS K52F-A1 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Dark Brown)

I purchased an Asus K52F toward the end of November of last year. It was a speedy machine that ran great, for a while. I eventually started having trouble with the WiFi card, but that issue was resolved by installing a fresh driver.

I was perfectly satisfied with my K52F up until about three weeks ago. Around that time, I noticed a catch in the hinge area whenever I opened it up. Eventually, said hinge broke completely in half and the surrounding plastic fell away.

A bit of research revealed that the problem of the breaking hinge is a case flaw that several people had suffered from. According to what I unearthed, the Asus warranty covered this due to it being the fault of the company. The Asus warranty required me to send my computer in (on my own dime) to have them evaluate whether or not the damage was caused by me. The fact that I'd attempted to superglue my computer back together made me apprehensive about doing this, so I got in touch with a local store and got a reasonable quote on fixing it. Unfortunately, while in the store's custody, the LCD screen quit working.

Like I said, the laptop itself ran great; it's just incredibly upsetting that the machine broke after less than a year of use.

Great little computer. Fast, not loaded with too much junk. Happy with everything except the speakers on the computer are beneath it and the volume is low. With that combination, you just can't hear movies or music very well if there is any competing noise at all. I solved the problem by getting little speakers (from Amazon) called Chill Pills, and they inexpensively turned my little ASUS laptop computer into a sound powerhouse. Problem Solved.

Honest reviews on ASUS K52F-A1 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Dark Brown)

I've had my ASUS K52F now for about three months now. I have zero complaints. It's really fast, never hangs. I does get a little warm so you don't want to smother it on your lap, keep it on a hard surface. My Gateway desktop just died so I am on the hunt for another ASUS!

I have had this computer just one day, and the performance is perfect for the money you pay, good so far. NO COMPLAINTS

but, there are some weaknesses that i would like to point,

first the keyboard is not the best, the arrow keys are small and hide, and it feels a little cheap, I do prefer a central keyboard without numerical keys.

Asus should work on the keyboard... thanks

I am so happy I was able to order this Windows & laptop. I had first ordered from Costco a Toshiba that had every bell and whistle and was lightning quick. It should have a been a dream. However, it was made nearly unusable by Windows 8 and I wisely decided to return it. I went on the hunt for a Windows 7 laptop and found this one. I was a bit skeptical about how the description mentions Windows 8, but while reading other reviews I gained confidence in placing the order and am so happy I did.

The computer arrived quickly and is everything I hoped it would be. I am no super techie but this laptop is fast. Applications open quickly and surfing the net is lightning fast over wireless.

Some things I really love about this computer are:

1) It is not loaded down with Bloat-ware

2) I also love having the buttons above the mousepad

3) It also has an HDMI outlet in case you want to hook it to a TV or something

4) It comes with Windows 7 pre-installed but they send you Windows 8 recovery disc

5) The screen is gorgeous and looks like it is anti-glare

6) The speakers sound nice to me

7) It has a web cam

8) It has a DVD reader/writer (not blue ray but I don't care)

Quite frankly I wish I had the funds available to buy an additional one. It seems like everyone in the house needs use of a computer at the same time and having one more would solve some problems. Overall, both myself and my husband are very happy with this purchase. Like he said "Wow, this is smoking fast!" If you are looking for a quick little workhorse then you really can't go wrong. Plus having Windows 7 will make you way happier than that mess that they call Windows 8.

Purchased this laptop for my mother and it's perfect. She is very clumsy and careless so I was looking more for something resistant, reliable and with good quality than fashionable, chic or lightweight.

The CPU, the AMD APU A4 is much better than Intel counter parts, Celeron, Dual Cores and even some Core i3. It comes with windows 7, so I didn't waste time trying to teach my mother how to use the useless tiles (Metro) and all the pointless changes in windows 8.

I did some research on laptops for good reviews and this laptop had really good reviews.

I was going to get a Dell Inspirion 15, but after doing some research, I settled on

this Samsung 530. So far, I have found nothing that I do not like about this laptop.

I love the dark red color for a change. The keypad is very easy and comfortable to use.

The wide screen is nice and the graphics etc. show up so clearly and bright. It is quite

a solid and well built computer as far as I can tell. It is lighter than my old Dell which

will help when traveling through airports, etc. Just an all around good laptop for me and

my uses and for the price I wanted to pay. The price on Amazon was the cheapest I could find.

I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I have owned many other laptops but this one is really special. The price is great, it was delivered to me in a day, and I was online and getting things done in less than half an hour. Easy to use, great keyboard, and I love the number keypad on the side (no need to purchase anything separate if you use the number keys often). The screen size is great and the quality of the graphics is exceptional. I've only owned it a few days but I absolutely love this laptop and would recommend it to anyone!

Best Deals for Samsung R530 15.6-Inch Laptop (Red)

I bought this Laptop for my wife 3 months ago. She absolutely loved it until a misterious "internal crack" appeared on the screen last week which made it unusable.

I opened a repair request with Samsung and sent the unit to the repair location specified by Samsung. I thorughly inspected the unit to see if it had any signs of damage to the case or the screen. Everything looked perfect. No damage of any kind.

After 2 days, I received a call from the repair shop telling me about the internal crack. They stated that this happens "very frequently" with Samsung Laptops and Notebooks. Even the slightest pressure on the outside cover can damage the screen. All the exercise this laptop gets is when we open and close its lid in order to use it. We don't take it on trips or even move it from its location at my wife's desk. She even kept the plastic protector that came on the outside of the laptop lid so as to avoid any scratches, etc. She could not be more gentle with this unit yet it appears that it will break with the slightest touch. This is inexcusable for a mobile computing device.

Samsung has rejected any responsibility for the poor quality of their product design so now I will have to spend over $300 to repair a $700 3-month old Laptop. This is very dissapointing and, given Samsung's indiference, it will be the last Samsung product I buy.

UPDATE A letter to the office of the president yielded no positive results. Their response: "it's not our problem". I'm going back to SONY products...

Honest reviews on Samsung R530 15.6-Inch Laptop (Red)

Okay,, the resolution for the laptop screen isn't optimal. 1,366 x 768 isn't that great considering it has a Blu Ray player on board.

Here is the thing. For me its perfect because i'm using the laptop to hookup to the 55 in LCD in 1080p. Yes the laptops HDMI and Intel Video will pump out to 1080p.

The CPU is great. I have done benchmark tests and they were all good. I ran this laptop through the ringer the first 2 hours I had it. 64bit Windows 7, 4gig of memeory, quad core processing, HDMI out, and Blu Ray player....all for 600 bux and that was with tax.

Its doing what I need it too.

Installed Boxee,, hooked up my external Raid and boom,,, off to the movies I was and even TV shows. Grabbed the Droid and used it as my remote for the PC... perfect!

Take in mind when buying such items. Make sure its going to give you what YOU need. If the 1366x768 isn't going to cut it for you because you are only going to use the Laptops screen. Look else where. That is the only fault that I can see this laptop has, but within the price range I was looking at..... this was the one that fit the bill. The gateways,, well,, I won't do Gateway,, horror story,,,,

HP's,,, well same price range but still more expensive by 200 bux to get the same specs I got in this Samsung.

Dell,,, well,, I don't do Dell either...horror story.

I'd say if you want something with power, and don't care about the on board screens resolution,, its a good price point.

I bought a Dell E6510 as a desktop replacement, and it's fabulous. I haven't turned on my old computer since I finished moving my files.

Before you buy, find out what screen you're getting. The E6510 has three options: 1366x768 ("HD"), 1600x900 ("HD+"), and 1920x1080 ("FHD"). I got the gorgeous FHD screen which lets me comfortably have small but sharp browser window, editor window, and debugger window visible simultaneously. I also got 4GB DRAM, 500GB hard disk, and Win 7 Pro.

Build quality is excellent. Drivers are stable. Everything just plain works. Lots of USB ports. All the tools I want: WiFi, SD card reader, Bluetooth... The 9-cell battery protrudes but gives several hours of run time. Both touchpad and TrackPoint work great.

Nits: To make room for large top-facing speakers (which sound pretty good), the keyboard doesn't have a separate number pad; using the Fn key to select numbers is lame. Dell docks don't have key locks like IBM docks. To use Microsoft Backup, you must disable the "Latitude ON" feature (which instantly boots a cached OS and starts your copy of Outlook to read e-mail) by converting D: to NTFS. Unfortunately, Microsoft Backup fails when it encounters a FAT32 partition. The computer is big and heavy, like all the machines in this class.

Pleasant surprises: I didn't have to delete any craplets! Dell accessories (spare power adapters, docks) are very inexpensive and readily available from many sources. The i5-520M processor is incredibly fast.

Just two regrets: I wish I'd sprung for the backlit keyboard, and I wish I'd gone with the 6-cell battery.

This laptop is perfect, it handles everything without any problems. there is no back-lit keyboard on this model(j020us), but if that's what you need then i don't recommend it. the screen size is perfect for watching movies/videos. Windows 8 is honestly not even as bad as people make it seem. it took me about 20 minutes to figure out everything. the only bad thing is the 5400rpm hdd, which isnt a super big deal. the laptop boots pretty quick and the battery life isn't terrible, but what do you expect out of a 17.3-inch screen with 1600x900 pixels and a beast processor. the sound on this laptop is pretty good the beats audio is alright, you can definitely hear the base. there is bluetooth on this model. its build quality is pretty nice it doesn't feel super cheap but its nowhere near Apple quality. it doesn't seem to run too hot it stays around 40-50 degrees when running most applications which is decent. browsing the web it gets around mid 30s to low 40s. I bought a 2 year warranty from Square Trade and its way better than paying for an HP warranty, so for people complaining its pointless never buy a warranty from the company that makes the product as they will take their sweet time. Overall this is a pretty good laptop that will handle just about any application you throw at it. I wouldn't recommend it for gaming as the GPU is pretty weak, so if you're a gamer on a budget I'd recommend the Lenovo y410p which has been on sale for quite some time and the specs are more gamer oriented, but it will take them forever to ship it.

We've had this notebook just a couple weeks. Setup was easy. It boots up fast, but login is disappointingly slow. It came with Windows 8 and the upgrade to 8.1 is now available for free. We haven't done the upgrade yet, but plan to do so. We understand there is an option in 8.1 to boot to the desktop and a start menu, which will resolve most of the issues we have with Windows 8.

Like another reviewer remarked, the edge of the notebook is tapered and isn't as thick as a network (RJ-45) jack. I don't find it an issue when plugging a network cable in, but it can be darn near impossible to get it out. Good thing the WiFi works great.

HP's touchpad is very "touchy", plus the buttons are integrated into the pad. We are using a mouse with it.

The size of the screen is great until you take it on the road. It's nearly impossible to use on a plane. It's heavy, although not nearly as heavy as another HP 17.3" we have that has the bigger, longer-life battery. We call that one the "aircraft carrier".

I have had this laptop for about a week now and I have to say that it has exceeded my expectations.

I was unsure of purchasing a Lenovo product since I never have before but after reading countless gret reviews for their products and reliability I was convinced to buy one. Since receiving this laptop everything has worked flawlessly. The screen has very good colours and viewing angles, the touch pad and keyboard is great and what Lenovo is known for. The speakers are loud and clear. My favourite thing is how cool it stays on my lap with a quiet fan on the left.

I was about to buy a Sony laptop but read that a lot of their recent laptops have poor reliability which is my top concern with buying a computer. Lenovo was at the top of the recent laptop reliability study that I read and I can now see why.

The only thing I ca think of that isn't great is the microphone. Over skype they said I had an echo when I talked. Otherwise I highly recommend this laptop. For it's price range it can't be beat.

So I just received my Z580. After playing with it for a couple of hours let me say that I have zero regrets so far. I'm still tinkering with it. I was a little concerned about the integrated graphics card but in reality I'm not much of a PC gamer. I've viewed a couple of HD videos on YouTube and they render perfectly

I love that the bloatware is minimal to non-existent. First thing I did was delete McAfee Anti-Virus and installed AVG instead. The YouCam software is awesome. Also I'm pretty impressed with the Lenovo Boot Optimizer. My first boot took 67 seconds after running the app every other boot was between 43 & 49 seconds.

All in all I think this is a great bang for your buck. I highly recommend this product to any other consumers like me who are in the market for something that combines quality, performance & a great price. Also if I happen to stumble on to anything unpleasant in regards to this laptop I will be sure to update this review.

Best Deals for Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 215127U 15.6-Inch Laptop (Grey Metal)

I shopped around doing research online for a few weeks, for a sub-$500 laptop. I found the Z580 from an online store (they sold out quickly) for $445, but with 8G of RAM, same 3rd generation i5 and the rest the same as this one, except it came with Windows 8. When I found it, and then read and watched reviews, I ordered it immediately. In two weeks of looking, this stuck out as a great buy.

I've had computers since 1983, have studied programming, and consider myself an experienced user, but am not a programmer or geek. My last laptop was a SONY, and it was my favorite computer before this one. For me, this Lenovo is very well thought out. The gray brushed metal finish, which appears brown, looks great. I like the large ultra smooth touchpad, and that turning the "tap" feature off was easy to do by right clicking the touchpad icon in the taskbar. The LEDs are nice and dim, which is good at night.

I like the click and response of the keyboard, and that the delete key is a different shape, slightly bigger, and that controlling the sound volume and brightness is easy to do with the Fn key and arrow keys, and that the volume can also be adjusted with the LED lit sensor buttons above the keyboard. Incidentally the button on the right with the quarter moon is a fan clean dust button. In Windows 8, it will not adjust fan speed. The fan sound is quiet, but not perfectly silent like my SONY where I had to be about 2 inches away to even hear it.

It comes with a few somewhat useful little programs and not too much bloatware. My favorite software that it comes with, is the Dolby Home Theater v.4 with full equalizer. You access it through an icon in the taskbar (bottom right) and I have configured that so it shows on the taskbar, rather than being in the hidden section of taskbar icons.

At first I thought the speakers were not that great, but surprisingly, to watch a movie at night on them is like having a small home theater system for one, when you set the Dolby. The Dolby has to be turned on an off from an icon on the taskbar. The laptop speakers lack bass, but they are surprisingly clear, and much better than my previous SONY which required external speakers at all times. On the Dolby software, after you click on the Dolby icon and click the "on" button, it's the small button at the bottom middle to get to the equalizer and all the controls, including presets you can create yourself. The Dolby sound software will also come in handy if you have desktop speakers that don't come with a lot of controls, or just to use the terrific surround sound.

Most of the time, I use this laptop interfaced with a monitor, keyboard, old touchpad and speakers but I also use it as a laptop too. I like the 4 USB ports, and VGA and HDMI outputs. The Bluetooth, and WiDi are good to have even though I don't use them. WiDi allows wireless transmission to a TV with that receiver, or you can buy a receiver separately.

The screen is shiny and probably not the best for use outside or where glare is a problem.

The Windows 8 situation has little to do with the laptop, but I will mention that the worst thing about that at first was that when you make the least little left-to-right movement near the left side of the touchpad, it will take you back to the Metro/tiles and out of whatever you were doing. Do the swipe again, and you're back. I found the setting to turn that off in Windows.

When I plug this into my monitor, it sensed the monitor brand and resolution, which is something Vista wouldn't do.

I downloaded the classic shell to look like Windows 7, and may delete that later. I didn't want to deal with learning Windows 8 while setting it up. I'm glad I didn't get Windows 7 though, and the fast startup/shutdown times of Windows 8 are nice, and I keep discovering new, cool features about Windows 8.

Some people have complained about the jumpiness of the touchpad in that there are no left and right buttons but the entire pad dips down in the two bottom corners when depressed. It can cause your cursor to jump but hasn't been a problem for me. For me, turning off the tapping, and a few of the swipe features has it working well.

The battery life is only a few hours if playing a movie but twice as long if you're just using less power. The WiFi has automatic recognition, no switch. For me, the range is the same as my other laptop, about 50 feet. If you have trouble with the range, I'd suggest reconfiguring your wireless router with the laptop.

Before this worked really well, I had to do all the updates for Windows 8. I did other things too like transfer my browser profile -not just bookmarks but cookies, history, passwords and everything -which made switching to a new computer painless but was a surprisingly convoluted thing you have to do, to do that. The i5 is speedy and I like it a lot. It came with 8G of RAM which is the max, but it should last me another 6 years hopefully, maybe longer.

The Metro tiles and all that? I've played around with some of it. It's really more for touchscreen users, and if you know what you're doing, you can pretty much ignore it. I'm still exploring some of the things that might be useful about them.

Honest reviews on Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 215127U 15.6-Inch Laptop (Grey Metal)

I have had this laptop for the last four months and have been using it for college. There are many things that I like about it and there are some things that bug me about the laptop but aren't too big of an issue.

Pros:

It's fast.

Cheap for what I got.

Haven't had any issues with software or things breaking.

I paid 600 dollars for this laptop, a mouse, and a case for the laptop.

Cons:

The touchpad is very sensitive and you need to be careful or you will barely press the touchpad and it will jump you to wherever the cursor is and you will start typing there.

When in sleep mode, whenever you wake it up it stays locked and you can't move the cursor for about seven seconds.

The battery life is truly 4 hours or sometimes less.

Update: The thing that I dislike the most is the touchpad buttons. Whenever I try to right click it will usually have the same function as a left click. The solution, get a mouse.

Some have complained about the keyboard but I disagree. The keyboard is a nice size, and the keys aren't poorly spaced. The only thing that I would change is somehow make the backspace button a little bit bigger.

I purchased this as a replacement for a Toshiba laptop I purchased a few weeks earlier that was too noisy for my liking. This was a huge improvement in the noise department, the laptop is fairly quiet in regular running mode, only when benchmarking it was the fan really noticeable. The other improvement was the touchpad's multi-touch scrolling, it was more accurate than other Laptop's, although I did have to disable the "pinch-to-zoom" feature as it was problematic when web-browsing. The downside was the processor wasn't quite as powerful as the laptop it replaced, but that was a mostly an unavoidable tradeoff to get something less noisy without a significant jump in price. The other drawback was size, the laptop case is just under 15" in length making it a bit bulkier than I would have liked as I would be carrying it with me quite a lot. Because of the size, I ended up going for the 14" Lenovo Z480 instead, it has all the same basic specs as the 580, but in a smaller case size. The Z480's other tradeoffs (aside from the screen size) were a smaller hard drive (500GB vs 750), smaller keyboard (no numpad), and a slightly louder running noise (maybe a decibel or 2 higher). I kind of regretted returning it, if the ~15" length isn't an issue for you this is a very good machine.

Pros:

* Low noise emission, includes Lenovo's "smart fan, noise control"

* Full size keyboard with numpad

* Separate mic and headphone jacks

* HD, 1.2 MP (1280*720) webcam

* 4 USB ports (2 usb 3.0 and 2 usb 2.0)

* Descent built in speakers

Cons:

* Size (near 15" in length, common for this screen size)

* Screen resolution (1366*768, common for this screen size/price range)

* WiFi/ethernet (works ok, but can take up to 2~3 minutes to make a connection)

Overall, not a bad laptop for the price.

I bought this for my wife. She was shocked at first to the point of doubting the package. It was so well packaged that she had a hard time gettng the Acer out. It was exactly what she needed. We plan on getting an HDMI cord and use it to watch movies on the big screen. It's still new to her and she is adjusting to it. I don't have any negatives about this product.

the computer is by far the best deal i have ever gotten from amazon n ive been with amazon for a few years now, i updated all outdated drivers, the sound is killer, the processing could handle everything i through at it, it crash once on initial setup but that was expected, i tamed my computer within half hour now shes locked up tight no breaks no code error and dont get me wrong im not a huge fan of win7 im an xp man but shes holding up nice, so if ur looking for a "notebook" at a great price look into it really, im a huge doubter but i was surprised being a bit of a nerd i can say this is worth all the time and money you the buyer put into it, just remember to update drivers right away or ull be looking at a so-so machin, just get a program called "Driver Identifier" itll take u where u need to be automaticlly, have fun:p

Too many problems with LED displays. Had to change it twice. Bad screen angle you cannot use it from standard position like on your lap.

Loosing too much of its black when tilted even a bit from perpendicular

They call this computer a notebook and it is bigger then my Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop????? which is what I will use

as a comparison.

The screen is wider by a couple of inches.

The keyboard has a number pad, so it takes a little getting used to (or back into) the right hand number pad and

having to set up a bit to the left.

It comes with windows 7 which I have never used before as I am a die hard XP user due to the various disasters Mr. Gates has produced since the XP days.

I was a bit surprised with 7, as it is very intuitive, and much like XP (it is probably built on XP software like everything else they produce which is built on DOS, but I regress). So the old codger got into 7 without any ranting and raving; that's a good thing.

As stated, the footprint is wider than the Dell so it takes up more desk space, but not so much that your elbow will slip off the end of the table.

The only bitch I have about the computer is the touch pad; it does not work as well as the Del, so I have ordered a cordless mouse so that I don't throw it against the wall.

The computer is much faster than the Del and 1/3 the price. It will mostly be used for music files and earphoned out to amplified speakers. Oh yea, the speakers are not as good as the Del, so if you want great sound, do as I do.

This computer is fast right out of the box with massive memory. The new windows layout took some getting used to, but there is an option to use the classic view as well! I bought this computer for business use, and so far it has passed all my test's! Great computer!!

I bought this laptop about 5 months ago... one of the worst decisions I've ever made. I have had to get it repaired twice already. The problem was that my touchpad (mouse pad) completely locked up and I could no longer use the mouse at all. I tried restarting it, shutting it down, taking the battery out, everything. So I sent it to Toshiba the first time (which was only 3 weeks after I bought it) had to pay $25 shipping to Toshiba to have them "fix" the problem. Toshiba informed me that they diagnosed it as a corrupt hard drive and said they replaced the hard drive, which later I found out that they did not! The second time was just yesterday for the exact same problem with my touch pad (that Toshiba claimed they "fixed") and I had to purchase Tech support for the laptop's software problem for $170 through TechZilla.com because the 1 year warranty only covered Hardware issues. After talking with the technician at TechZilla, I found out that in the 3 years he worked there this was a very common issue with Toshiba Laptops. So the technician had to spend literally two and half hours fixing via wi-fi connection. He told me he had to re-write the connection codes between the touchpad and computer, Or something of the sort. All in all I would say that the computer memory, ram, etc has been great! However this 5 month old computer with it's constant issues has been nothing but a headache. I wish I never would have bought this cursed machine lol. Lesson learned through this, it's worth it to pay the extra money for a Mac. That is all.

I've been an Acer fan since 1997, had my first major Desktop from them and it ran forever. I use to like Toshibas laptops back in the day, 2004 till about 2009 or so when they really took pride in their machines. Now they are cheap plastic toys, and fall apart like leaves in the fall. First off the lid has horrible wobbling when you open it, the keys smash down into the body of the computer like grapes on pavement. The fan runs either constantly, or it can't decide and kicks on and off, on and off etc. Very loudly i might add. The speakers are horrible, i have headphones that are much louder. And the over all feel of the machine is just bad. It's really a shame when a company like Emachines (now owned by Acer) makes (made) a better quality laptop the Toshiba. I had one back in 2010, and it was built rock solid, tiny speaker sound, and a decent processor, but definitely better than this doorstop. I remember taking this out of the box thinking, are you kidding me?

I have an Acer 17.3 inch laptop that i got in 2010 as well, and it is fantastic, never an overheating issues, burned literally 100's of discs (maybe more), converted movies, great speaker volume, and the body is made very firm, with a good solid feel. I was never an AMD fan either, sure you get 4 cores, and it's more powerful than my laptop, but honestly, who games on them anymore? Hence the cheap price, look on Wal-Mart and the computer is 578$, ask why? Now you know. So good specs, don't mean your getting a good reliable quality machine. I've loved the underdog, (Acer) for years, and it's been great. Even my girlfriends new Gateway is made far superior. I miss the old Toshibas. Even the higher end models suffer from problems, i work on desktops only. But i've heard many people say they get more HP's Dell's and Toshibas coming through with problems, more than any others. So buy at your own risk. They didn't even make this model for 8 months, and now they are gone. Or overstocked at Wal-Mart. Buyer beware.

I bought this laptop about a year ago, when my classes were beginning again.

This laptop is good for everyday use; it can connect to the internet with relative ease, the HD screen is generally very bright and easy to read, and I've never had a problem with responses from either the keyboard or the track pad that functions as the mouse. As far as function is concerned, this laptop is an excellent choice.

Now, having said that, there is still one big, often frustrating issue with this laptop: the battery life. It can run for perhaps an hour on a single charge. If you just plan to do some typing in a document, it will last for about an hour and twenty minutes.

What may also be of frustration to a user is the number of USB ports: there are only two, one above the other, on the left side of the laptop. If you use any external devices (hard drive, mouse, 3G internet, etc.), this can be frustrating. Thank goodness for USB hubs.

And although less of an issue than the battery and USB ports, the laptop has a black shell, meaning fingerprints and smudges will show up very easily on the shiny casing. Bad news if appearance really matters to you.

All things considered, this laptop is a good buy for the price, though it would be much better if the battery could last longer than it does. Otherwise, keep the cord with you, and stay near power outlets. You'll need it if you plan to use this for any extended length of time.

Ironically, as I was bringing the computer out of sleep to write this review, it sat in a black screen for several minutes, then the "windows is resuming" screen for several more minutes... so I had to cold reboot it.

I don't know enough about computers to know if this is a CPU problem, or a windows problem, or both, but all I can tell you is this is a typical unpredictable windows machine. The other thing that drives me crazy is, coming out of sleep mode, sometimes the USB ports don't work for anything, mouse, flash drives... causing you to have to restart the computer, which takes several minutes, by the way.

Now, those are the major grips. The design is fine, the battery life is fine, the weight of the laptop is average... I will say that the fan runs almost non-stop, spewing out hot air constantly.

It's a workable computer, I just wouldn't pay too much for it. Plus, this is my work computer and the factory-spec processor speed and memory aren't adequate for what I do, which is alot of graphic design. In fact, in my proprietary software I had a project where there was so much lag it took 10 seconds for every keystroke to appear. So if you do buy this unit, beef it up.

I liked this model a lot. It has modest RAM for a laptops of its age and is very durable. Well mine is anyways, it survived a yard fall with no damage. sure the keys start popping off once in a while, but it's simple to plug them back in. I'd recomend this one for people who are resonpsible, like vista, and are ok with 2 GB ram max. It can run most things well, but for more things that require high processig power and graphics, I'd say go get a newer laptop.

This is a great Laptop i have owned for 6 years now. It handels all my web design programs like flash, dreamweaver, photoshop, illistrator, and games like a champ. I did upgrade ram to 4gb to keep up with the demand and it works great. I do recommend this laptop if on a budget. This laptop can do it all, and the processor is fairly powerful. Here are some sites i built with this laptop. AcepStore dot c o m , Applerageous dot c o m. When i bought this laptop 5 6 years ago it cost me about 1,200.00 and still runs like a champ. I just bought myself a new dell xps laptop and tested running programs at the same time and they start up and run programs at same time.

It surpassed all my expectations. It was in excellent condition, quick and fully functional. Only two drawbacks, battery died out quick and when scrolling down a website, the page would fragment a bit, but other than that it's a perfect piece of equipment for a university student or any corporate work. Highly recommend it if you don't want to break the bank.

We needed an extra machine in the house and after looking at a number of reviews on Amazon, this looked like it would fit the bill. Came quickly and well wrapped. I was pleased when I first booted it up that there was very little installed crapware to remove -I removed the Lenovo-provided trial virus ware and we were good to go. From unwrapping to being on the internet was under 5 minutes. Easy wireless, great keyboard, and a crisp screen (nice size and HD quality) make this a perfect working laptop. And the price is awesome.

This is an excellent laptop computer. It beats my old HP Pavilion notebook hands-down! It never gets remotely hot and is incredibly fast. It boots in less than 30 seconds! Pair this with the great price and I'm as happy as a clam.

Honest reviews on Lenovo G570 4334ECU 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)

Since I dislike win 8 intensely, and my friend did also and she wanted me to find her a win 7 machine and this one was one of the few available at a decent price so I purchased it. She was very happy to have a new computer that worked exceedingly well for what she wanted to use it for. The machine is solid, The packing was excellent, the performance was above reproach for the price. I would purchase more of them if I could find a win 7 machine. I have since bought another Lenovo with win 8 and am going to backdate it to win 7, for another friend. I find that the Lenovo machines are very good. I wish the companies would give us a choice which op system to purchase rather than force win 8 down our throats. Please please listen to us Lenovo and other computer companies.

I picked this laptop up at Walmart for $350 (What a Steal!). Its fast and has lots of cool features. This laptop did not have a DVD burner or disk drive, but I knew this before hand. ALWAYS DO YOUR RESEARCH! The speakers were fairly loud at 50%, I couldn't see a need for me to ever need to go to 100% volume, because it gets LOUD. I also like how slim it is. I would recommend this laptop to anyone!
