Cheap Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo P7350 2.0GHz 2GB 120GB DVD±RW DL 13.3"
If you are looking for an affordable way to get into the MacBook scene, this would be a great model to start with. Can't beat the quality for the price. Our family loves it!This is the first Apple computer I have ever owned, and I would highly recommend this MacBook to anyone who is in the market. It is really fast, the battery life lasts a really long time (much longer than my last Windows based laptop!) and you can tell it is really well made. Love the white color, too.

Reviews of Dell D610 Pentium M 2.0GHz 1GB 60GB CDRW/DVD 14.1" XPH
Had to part with my old gateway laptop of 10-12 years as AOL spoiled the speed with its invasive intrusions through my internet connection. While I miss the slot for my camera scan disc and can't find my cable, the features of the Dell laptop Latitude D610 are just fine for me. Not too many "modern conveniences" like blueray, webcam, etc. but I don't need any of that. I like the screen size, the keyboard is lovely and the size is perfect. I did find the touch pad a bit rougher than my gateway (real smooth) and so similar to the surrounding surface, that I sometimes am sliding around everywhere except on the touch pad. Don't care for the ball item on the keyboard between "G" and H" similar to IBM think pad which I never liked and don't use. I find it too hard to manipulate as I did with the think pad. But I love the touch of the keyboard and the sellers, Compusales3000, do a fine job of shipping and surprised me with 20 additional gigabites on the harddrive! I like that they check and refurbish all their items at their warehouse before sending them out, and even add little personal notes! I would definitely say they are customer friendly!

Reviews of ASUS U38N-DS81T 13.3-Inch Touchscreen Laptop (Dark Silver)
I was quite impressed with several items on this computer:
1) The overall build quality is excellent, and the fre laptop case was a nice (and unknown by myself) touch
2) After removing most of the Asus bloatware and putting the computer power settings on the Microsoft balanced settings I found that the battery life improved significantly. Also the fan noise greatly decreased as the processor can now idle properly.
3) The performance of the processor and full bore is also quite good (6.2 processor score and 6.6 gaming graphic score on WEI) more than sufficient for any application with the exception of high end gaming and video editing/compression
4) Fantastic monitor. I am not even sure what is the next cheapest laptop you can get with a high quality 1080P TOUCHSCREEN monitor.
5) Very light overall. Honestly if it was much lighter I would be concerned about its overall structural integrity as a touchscreen computer.
6) Although I have previously installed windows 8 on a desktop, using it on a touchscreen laptop is a significant improvement. I find myself able to find a sweet spot for when to use the touchscreen (which can also easily pull up a keyboard) and using the actual keyboard. I find it better than either a traditional desktop/laptop or a tablet.
7) The only negatives I have are the initial bloatware (which can be easily removed) and the trackpad/mouse on the keyboard. The trackpad is actually too sensitive and it takes some time to be able to type on the keyboard without activating the trackpad.
Strongly recommend this computer as I know of now other which can do as much as this computer for less than $1000.
Looking forward to seeing what's next from Asus\AMD!!
Slim and sleek. Absoluteyly gorgeous
Fast Boot up
Crytal clear screen
back-lit Keyboard
Lighweight
Cons:
Extremely short battery life for AN ULTRABOOK.
Desktop and touchsreen windows freezes once in a while with only two windows open very annoying for a brand new and slightly powerful ultrabook
Conclusion: I will return this laptop because of it's extremly low battery life barely three hours when watching a movie and web browsing. However, if you are always plugged-in I highly recommend this laptop.
The screen is amazing super HD you wont believe how some pictures look on this screen. It is also super light and thin and amazingly fast. I was a little suspect of Asus quality prior to this but this unit has changed my mind! Great unit and worth every penny!

Best Toshiba Satellite C655d-s5533 15.6" Laptop AMD E300/4g/320g/15.6" Deals
I really appreciate the numeric keyboard as my other 15" laptop does not have this. The screen is very bright & sound is much better than other laptops it has two speakers above the keyboard. It has all the same items a more expensive unit has, but at a much better price. Built-in Webcam & Skype, CD/DVD player & burner for watching movies, three USB ports, an ethernet port and wireless WiFi (many only have wireless), matt finish stays fingerprint free.
Toshiba has long heald the reputation for making some of the best business grade laptops available. Three or four years ago they rolled into the consumer market and have carried that same quality forward. Toshiba is very competitive with HP, Dell & Lenovo...today's other PC Leaders.
I'm still waiting for a response. It's clear that I've been scammed, and this seller is just running out the clock until I give up. I clearly have no recourse, since there's no option on this order to file an Amazon claim.
This was a great deal. But if something seems too good to be true, that's because it is! If I'd looked closer at the reviews, I would've seen that most of the negative ones are for computers. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I bought a one-year warranty with this laptop. After 6 months the hard drive died. When I called Toshiba, I was told that my warranty was expired. I contacted the seller, who said they would contact Toshiba. A few days later I asked for an update, and the seller said they would contact Amazon (not sure why). Still no response a week later, so I asked for an update within 24 hours. The seller assured me that I had a one-year warranty, but Toshiba only covers certain things.I'm still waiting for a response. Panasonic Toughbook T8 CF-T8EWDTZ2M 12" Laptop 120G HDD Review
I have this laptop, which was provided for my use, at work. I am a hospice nurse, who performs numerous home visits daily. This laptop is the perfect size, and weight. The keyboard is perfect. We recently switched from using the toughbook to a Samsung galaxy tablet. I HATE THE TABLET!!!! Personally, I prefer having a keyboard for typing. Pecking on a tablet is tiresome, bothersome, and tedious. Sadly, this is the direction we are all headed in, due to the fast growing technology field. However, I see it as a downfall. My documentation is not as good on the tablet, because I cannot "peck" as fast as I can type. Because I loved this laptop so much at work, I am looking to buy one for personal use. I would recommend purchasing the toughbook to anyone who is considering purchasing. You won't be disappointed.....

Buy Toshiba M305-S4910 14.1-Inch Widescreen Satellite Laptop
All I have to say is that I bought this laptop also from Best Buy and I LOVE it. As an IT guy with nearly 10 years of experience, this little guy is well worth the investment. What I like most are the keys. I normally type 60+ wpm but the way that the keys are designed, it seems like its 70+. Very ergonomic. Battery life is great and with the amount of RAM the performance is exceptional. Very slick look! Highly recommended.

The price was so right! I bought this computer recently and it is a work horse, I love all of the things it can do. My problem is the design of the screen, it cannot open all the way which drives me nuts. The screen stands vertical, not good. Frequent pushing on the screen will damage the machine eventually, other laptops that I own, open like a book, not this one, it barely opens half way. Other than that it would have been just what I needed so I'm returning it.Best Deals for Toshiba M305-S4910 14.1-Inch Widescreen Satellite Laptop
i purchased this from best buy back in may 2009, it's nothing special but if you need a laptop that will do its job, this is one i'd recommend. it's just hard to keep it clean since the keyboard is of a glossy finish. i use it daily and definitely enjoy it!Honest reviews on Toshiba M305-S4910 14.1-Inch Widescreen Satellite Laptop

Bought two of these at the same time. Didn't move them around much; his was mostly used to read the newspaper in the morning, check email, and watch an occasional movie, and mine was used to check email and fiddle around with Photoshop here and there. We also both use Skype once in awhile; the camera quality wasn't good, but it did the job. Both worked well for awhile the keyboard is easy to type on, the harmon/kardon speakers are a nice touch, and no complaints in general. Just over a year in, his camera stopped working; technical support said they couldn't do anything about it and were generally unhelpful. About a year and a half in, my computer's screen started flickering/flashing once every ten seconds or so. If turned off for a day or two, it would be fine again for awhile. Again, technical support was completely unhelpful. But this is the reason I would not buy a Toshiba product again: my power cord died two weeks ago, and his died one week ago. They died within a week of each other! We have no pets who could chew wires, don't move the laptops around much, and shut the power on the power strip at night / when we're not around. I called Toshiba's technical AND customer support and asked if they would replace these, as they seem to be lemons. Both were polite enough, but refused to help in any way, and could not offer anythingno replacements, no discounts, nothing. I will absolutely not shell out $140 for two new power cords when these two died after two years; my last power cord lasted almost seven years. I know generic replacements are available for pretty cheap, but it was more the principle that incensed me. So much for standing behind your products. I would not recommend the laptops and would not recommend Toshiba products unless you buy with the knowledge that you are on your own once your warranty expires.Saturday, January 11, 2014

Cheap Thinkpad T420S 14" 320GB 4GB
I am an IBM employee and as such I enjoy a discount on Lenovo purchases. With my corporate discount, the price comes down to what you would find on newegg, tigerdirect, or amazon, but with the ability to customize the system. When I was building mine, even with the discount, the upgrades that I wanted were too expensive, so I ordered a basic configuration plus some upgrades from the sites mentioned above. My system arrived with i5 2520 CPU (the lowest possible frequency), 320 GB hdd, 2 GB RAM, and an integrated video card. Separately, I ordered 8 GB RAM, Intel 320 series SSD (160 GB capacity), and a cheaper 32 GB mSATA SSD drive (a mini-PCI card, the T420s has a slot for it), which I use for swapping and temporary files.
I purposely ordered the CPU with the lowest possible frequency, and no dedicated video card. In my career, I have built and used probably two dozen different systems, and in each and every case, the CPU has never been a bottleneck, nor has been the video card. Most video cards today have GPUs which consume an enormous amount of power, need extra cooling, and drain your battery while heating your lap. I have to mention that I use computers for software development and other casual uses, but not for gaming. I could not care less how many frames per second a given game would render (TO ME it is all crap, and so far from being realistic that it is not worth the hassle -TO ME a 1980's console Packman is more real than most of the games I see nowadays; call me old fashioned, I don't care). I want a system that would run one or more virtual machines, a development environment, and a database of a size which only the most rich and prestigious universities could afford only a few years ago. The T420s does that.
It runs very cool, is fast, and is sturdy. On occasion, the fan engages, but so far it has been running only at a low speed which is not disturbing (I compare it to my T60p system with dedicated graphics which was very noisy).
The keyboard is outstanding. Better than any Thinkpad (I have owned five) so far. I only wish it was back-lit. The little light on the top of the lid does a good job at illuminating the keyboard, but again I would have still preferred a back-lit one.
The preloaded software is not too intrusive. If I had an option, I would never buy a system with preloaded software, but unfortunately even with this high end business system a clean build was not an option. I have made the habit of wiping off every new system I receive and install only what I need; with this one, I have not done it yet. Probably I will, once I have the time to gather all drivers. But so far it is good, I don't feel slowness, maybe also because the system is so fast.
The screen is nice. It is matted, so it is easy on the eyes. If I had an option, though, I would go with 4:3 screen, which is much more convenient for writing code, but nobody makes these nowadays. I wonder, why all manufacturers think that laptops are only for watching movies?
Speed. With the two SSD drives configured as a master and swap, the boot is blazing fast. I installed the second, smaller and cheaper SSD as a swap and temp drive in order to preserve the more expensive Intel drive. Windows 7 boots in 20 seconds, and an XP virtual machine boots in 8 seconds.
Build quality. The MacBooks have been a standard by which I have measured the build quality and ergonomics of every other laptop, and I have to say, the T420s is better in most departments. It does not flex, it stays cool (the MacBook I compare it is a Core 2 Duo which runs hotter), and is lighter. The MacBook has a back-lit keyboard and a truly amazing display (Lenovo's display is matted which is good, but does not provide the same level of contrast).
There are several things that Lenovo could have done better:
1. 4:3, higher contrast screen
2. back-lit keyboard
3. a minimal install with no preloaded software (although this system is not as crapified as some Sony's or Dell's I have seen lately)
Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. I highly recommend it. My current configuration is very expensive and is comparable to a 15" MacBooPro's price, but I still prefer it. I have to mention that this is the first laptop I buying with my own money, if that makes my review more trustworthy. If Windows is not essential, get a Mac. For Windows, I doubt that there is a better highly portable system on the market as of today.
I give it 4 stars, as there is still room for improvement. For a comparison, I would also rate a MacBook Pro at 4, and any other laptop I have found at Staples, BestBuy, Costco, etc. scores no higher than 3.
The T420s also has space for three (yes three) hard drives -the primary drive, the ultra-bay, and the mSATA slot. I bought an 80GB Intel 310 flash drive for the mSATA slot, and loaded Windows 7 on it to make it my boot drive. Then, I put all my applications on the flash drive, too, so that loading Windows and even the biggest app is lightening fast. I loaded all my docs and pictures and music on the primary drive, so I have plenty of room for more. I left the optical drive in the ultra-bay for now, but it has the option of being swapped out for a hard disk or flash drive, or a second battery. The system is whisper quite -you can't hear the drive and the fan, when it's on, is only a faint background whirr.
The best part, though, is the keyboard -I never knew that I could type so fast. The words just seem to flow up on the screen with no effort and few mis-spellings. Crazy good. After pounding away on other keyboards for years, this one is a joy. Textured track pad works well, too, and maybe someday I'll start using the little-red joystick that others seem to like.
This thing is durable, too. It was designed in the vein of the original clean-and-black ThinkPad by the legendary designer Richard Sapper. You can easily find cheaper laptops, but not ones that will last for years like this one.
Purchased customized one (i7 2620 processor and dedicated nvidia graphic card) thru lenovo. This thing is fast!!
Added OCZ vertex 3 SSD using ultra bay and it rocks! The ultrabay supports sata 3, FYI.
Used ebay ultrabay adaptor with this SSD without a problem. The installation(hardware) was done within 5 mins and clean OS installation(win7) onto SSD took like 5 mins.
Much cheaper than ordering SSD version from lenovo (I heard that the SSD from factory is intel's which uses sata 2 connection).
You spend less money and get newer & better SSD.
Had to give up DVD-rom but who cares!(I rarely use it). The overall weight slightly increased but still not a big deal.
Applications like autocad, 3ds max, adobe suites load up instantly!
Also, you don't need to order higher RAM from lenovo.
Get aftermarket RAM and add it. It also saves your budget a lot.
1600*900 display's awesome. Not being 16:10 screen? Not a problem for me.
USB 3.0 blows with compatible flash drives and external harddrives.
Light weight, 2nd generation processor, sandybridge chipset, high resolution screen, various expansion slots(mSATA, ultrabay), USB 3.0...what else do we expect for a laptop this year?
1 star deducted due to relatively POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Overall, despite this thing is quite expensive, I'm very satisfied with the performance. You get what you pay for! -]
My machine:
2.5 Ghz Core i5
8 GB Ram
320 GB HD
Exterior:
This machine is very nice looking, with a good design and solid feel. It's incredibly light (3.9 lbs), such that I have to double check that I actually put it in my bag. The build quality is excellent. 5*
Screen:
Love the 1600x900 display resolution and the matte screen. Screen is beautiful and brilliant, as good as my MacBook Pro. 5*
Software:
Standard Win7 + all the Lenovo bloatware. After 7 months still haven't figured it all out. Thinkpad technologies seems like a waste especially when many of the functions are supported internally by Windows. 3*
Battery Life:
Here's the shocker. It's 2011 and I have the same battery life as I did with my first Dell lappy in 2003. Unacceptable. I'm doing good to get 2 hrs from a full charge, and normally it's like 1.5. I had to play with the setting to get it up this far. ThinkPad software has lots of customizations but the computer was practically unusable for any real battery life. Horrible. 1*
Hard drive:
The standard SATA 320GB 7200 RPM drive is a dog. 1*
Lenovo issues:
Computer has had video card, BIOS, and numerous update issues. I was able to fix them all with a little research on the internet but a $1300 machine shouldn't have these issues that I never had with a $499 Dell. 1*
Overall:
3*. A good notebook at the right price, which is $999. Any more and it's just not worth it. The quality and weight is good but I certainly don't get the warm and fuzzies I expected from the Lenovo brand.
Ordered DVD bay battery (good idea).
The problem with this laptop is the noise emanating from the fan.
My hearing isn't overly great and to me it is ridiculously loud.
No notebook of this type should have such a shoddy design in that area with a fan sounding like a hair dryer 80% of the time.
I purposely ordered the CPU with the lowest possible frequency, and no dedicated video card. In my career, I have built and used probably two dozen different systems, and in each and every case, the CPU has never been a bottleneck, nor has been the video card. This thin and light -and fast -Lenovo T420s laptop is at the top of its class. The Lenovo brand runs under the radar screen for many consumers, but builds top-technology laptops that last next-to-forever. The T420s is sick fast with a 14" screen, but only weighs 3.9 lb. You can find other lighter weight laptops, but only with dinky little 13" and 12" screens -which is just too small to be productive and with toys for keyboards. You can look, but I don't think you'll find a better 14" laptop that is under 4 lb.The T420s also has space for three (yes three) hard drives -the primary drive, the ultra-bay, and the mSATA slot.
Honest reviews on Thinkpad T420S 14" 320GB 4GB
Custom configured T420s on lenovo website. Wish I would have just bought it from Amazon and did a few upgrades myself.

Nice performing laptop with Nvidia graphics and I5 processor. Solid state drive.Ordered DVD bay battery (good idea).
The problem with this laptop is the noise emanating from the fan.
My hearing isn't overly great and to me it is ridiculously loud.
No notebook of this type should have such a shoddy design in that area with a fan sounding like a hair dryer 80% of the time.

Thank you for taking the time to read these few statements. I am so glad I bought this machine.
First off it is built extremely well. The touch screen is very responsive as are the keyboard keys and touch pad. The touchpad gestures for scrolling work amazing. The beats audio subtle flare is a nice touch with the red trim around the keyboard, The speakers sound amazing and probably the best speakers I've ever heard on a laptop. The fingerprint scanner actually works really well and I can use it to sign into gmail, facebook, reddit, Pandora, etc. I even tested it being the skeptic I am, first with other fingers (it's set to my right pointer finger so you know which one to cut off to gain access) and then by having someone else put there fingers on there. No go! Only the one print on the one finger worked. The keyboard is a bit flexy when typing but I don't see this being a problem and I don't actually notice it at all when typing. This thing is actually pretty light and SUPER thin. It's definitely a very nice looking machine and it's been fun showing it off. WIndows 8 makes more sense with a touch screen and i'm getting used to it.
For you gamers like me, so far so good. I mainly play MMO type games and so far have tried league of legends, guild wars 2 and world of warcraft. All of which work without a hitch. With Nvidia experience it will even optimize your games graphics settings and automatically set it to run as good as possible. I've had no lag in any of the above games and with the processor being as fast as it is alt tabbing is super fast with games open. Load times seem very snappy and the graphics look clean and in high definition.
For you media junkies. This thing can process media just fine. I run photoshop CS6 which is a pretty cpu intensive program and it handles it without even showing any stress at all. It's been a pleasure to work on this computer. I'd imagine video editing would be a breeze. It also runs my PCDJ program great and without any lag.
The funny thing is I've never bought a "name brand" computer before such as HP. I used to be a bit snobby when it came to pc's and only purchased pc's built in local computer shops by the wonderful nerds who's passion in life was computers (I know how that sounds, it's ridiculous but it's awesome). I moved to Alaska for work about 5 months ago and only was able to pack my clothes. I've been replacing my electronics from back home with new shiny ones and decided to give this computer a shot after reading the specs here on amazon. Honestly, I am absolutely floored with this thing and couldn't be happier. I decided not to make a pros/cons list because so far there really are no cons I can find. HP has really impressed me.
