Aesthetics: I think it's a beautiful laptop. Metal all around the keyboard area. The lid is entirely metal on the outside. It's a sleek design that is minimalist which I love.

Function: The 1080P screen is gorgeous. Watching movies and high quality YouTube videos is great. The JBL speakers sound better than any laptop speakers I have heard. One of my favorite features is the keyboard the feedback you get from the keys and the solid build quality makes it enjoyable to type on. Also, for you gamers, I get a solid 40-50 FPS on medium to high settings playing Battlefield 3.

I looked at about 5 different models from a variety of companies and this beat them in almost every category. My one gripe so far is Windows 8. The touchpad gestures can be quite annoying but I'm sure I will adjust to it in time. Of course, that is not the fault of the laptop, just an observation.

Also DO NOT ORDER THROUGH LENOVO. I had a lot of issues ordering through them and their customer service has been less than helpful (that is putting it very nicely). I don't know why I made the mistake of ordering through them initially. Ordered through Amazon and it was easy and they delivered on time, as always.

All in all, if this laptop fits in your price range, you will not find a better product. Highly recommend.

This is an amazing product. Not only super fast, with excellent screen resolution and very reliable but for sure the best that you can get for this Price.

On top of that it comes with Windows 8 which believe me is simply fantastic and easy to use with your current mouse.

I can see now everything in just one single dynamic tiles based home screen. My mail (all accounts), my messages, sports news, whats going on in Facebook, twitter etc.

If you are considering buying a computer in this price range, this is by far the best choice.

The Laptop runs smoothly, has great resolution and graphics and also has a blue-ray player! The computer is equipped with a full keyboard with number pad, which is a plus, and is a good looking design. However, I don't particularly care for Windows 8; there still seems to be some issues that need to be worked out. Also, the track pad needs some getting used to. I often find myself playing a game using the track pad and then all of a sudden I am brought to the desktop screen. Overall, I recommend this computer to anyone interested in a multi-media device that doesn't want to spend over $2,000 on a Mac Book Pro, but still wants to have great performance.

I purchased the IdeaPad Y580 model 59359513 directly from Lenovo. It came with a 1TB HDD, 8GB of RAM, a Blu-Rady/DVD-RW optical drive, and no mSATA. It replaced a 6-year-old ThinkPad T60p. I have been using my Y580 since late December, 2012. So far, it has been a very good computer.

The Good:

The not-so-good (but definitely not deal-breakers):

Overall construction feels a little fragile, especially if you are used to a rugged ThinkPad

Detailed review:

On the plus side, this machine is very fast, both in terms of performance and boot time. The NVIDIA video card and on-board Intel GPU work beautifully together and provide great graphics. This is a great machine for work (astrophysics) and play (games and movies). The display is crisp and gorgeous, and games look stunning on it. The JBL speakers perform amazingly well. Honestly, this machine is worth the price just for the speakers. It came with a huge, but slow (5400 rpm), 1 TB hard drive (although there are 4 partitions pre-installed on it, which makes the usable size about 884 GB; and you would have to clear out and resize one partition if you wanted to dual-boot Linux).

The machine is a little on the big and heavy side. But, it is supposed to be more of a desktop replacement than a mobile laptop. If you are looking for a machine to take on trips (especially when flying), this is probably not the best option.

Unfortunately, the overall feel of the machine is a little cheap. However, this could just come from me comparing it to my old, rugged ThinkPad. I often feel the shell bending when I carry the laptop from room to room, and the keyboard flexes noticeably when I am typing. Also, the screen hinges are not very stiff and the screen shakes a bit even when on a sturdy desk. The machine generates a significant amount of heat and makes some annoying noises, but both of these are only really noticeable when you have it actually sitting on your lap. I wish it came with more RAM. Both the Lenovo and Crucial websites claim the max supported RAM for this machine is 8 GB. I have read on a couple online forums that it is possible to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB (usually the claim is that the European models are based on the same motherboard and they come with 16 GB of RAM), but I have not tried it myself.

The new Windows 8 OS is not as bad as I feared it would be. It is a little clunky, though. I think Microsoft did their customers a serious disservice by getting rid of the Start button. Almost all of my complaints about the OS experience would have been avoided if they had just kept the Start button (and there are ways of putting it back, if you really just can't live without it). Overall, Windows 8 boots very fast, runs smoothly, and is not hard to get used to, but it does still feel like a beta release and often seems to have unnecessary steps for what used to be simple tasks (e.g., opening Notepad).

The machine comes loaded with some junk software, but that is easy to fix (once you figure out how to get to the Control Panel under Windows 8). The real annoyance is that it did not come loaded with enough of the standard software. A great example of this is the lack of Adobe Reader. Instead, it came with Microsoft's terrible PDF Reader application (an app which is so poorly made that I think it should be classified as a war crime). Again, a minor complaint and easily fixed.

There are only two genuinely bad aspects of this computer. First, the track-pad is absolutely awful. It is oversensitive in some spots and not sensitive enough in others. It seems to love the Windows 8 Charms menu and takes you there whenever you make the smallest mistake in movement. Clicking and dragging is often tricky and unpleasant. I highly recommend getting an external mouse with this machine. Second, the glossy screen is like a mirror. Even in a dim office, you can see your reflection. I honestly do not know why there is such a fad for glossy displays in the computer world right now. A matte screen is so much more useful in ALL settings.

Overall:

I definitely like this computer and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great work-horse/gaming/entertainment laptop. It has some shortcomings, but for the price it is by far the best machine out there. To get a similar laptop from any other manufacturer would cost you at least $400 over the price of a Y580. I have yet to have any real problems with mine.

This is a great gaming/college pc. It has a great video card, fast processor, and comes with 8gb of preinstalled ram. The hard drive is a little slow but it's an easy replacement for a faster one or possibly an ssd. Build quality is excellent and the backlit keyboard is very nice.

The only complaint I had with this computer ( and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that when it arrived the backlit keyboard was not working. Rather than send it back for who knows how long I searched around online for a fix. In order to fix this you have to remove the keyboard and check if all the connections underneath are intact. Sounds simple enough. It took about 1 1/2 hours to do this. The manual says to simple press on the keyboard with your fingers and it will lift out. Not the case. There are tiny little black clips along the top and sides of the keyboard. you have to gently pry the keyboard up with one hand while using an extremely small needle to push the black clips in. Once you have them all pressed the keyboard will come out. It sounds simple but is extremely hard and time consuming. After the keyboard was out I had to simply connect the ribbon that had come undone. It was a ton of work but worth it as I didn't have to send it back for an unknown amount of time.

Overall it's a fantastic keyboard and Amazon had the cheapest price around when I purchased it in early January ($1,049.) If you're not sure about it just go for it. You won't regret it.

I've owned several laptops and would be considered an intermediate to advanced computer user. I've built my own desktops, tweaked a few laptops and owned various brands of laptops including HP, Fujitsu, Sony and Dell (Inspiron, Latitude and XPS series).

I purchased this exact laptop directly from Dell (got a better deal than current Amazon pricing) based upon Consumer Report's November 2009 article recommendations where the Dell Inspiron 1545 was rated a 'Best Buy' for every day computing. I purchased it for my husband who will use it primarily for watching an occasional movie from Netflix streaming wirelessly on our home network, emailing to share jokes and videos with his friends, and browsing the Internet.

After setting it up, which other than running into a snag with my home network was a breeze, and playing with it for about an hour, these are my impressions.

The PROS:

+ Comes with Windows 7 no need to upgrade, and the 64-bit combined with the more than adequate memory makes things move nicely. Slightly different than Vista's look, but should be easy to use.

+ Adequate hard drive (mine came with a 320) for storing photos, videos and music.

+ Great 1.3mp webcam which delivers pretty nice snapshots (not too grainy) as well as excellent video (very little drag of movement).

+ Good speakers! Better than those on my Dell XPS, for which I paid 30% more less than a year ago.

+ 3 usb ports

+ Bright 15.6" display; nice size. I sometimes find the 13" on the XPS too small and the Fujitsu had a 17" which is fine for a desktop replacement but really adds weight to the overall unit.

+ Virtually silent running. No fan noise to speak of and yet...

+ Stays cool to the touch! Not worried about overheating on this one.

The CONS:

Keyboard is OK, but not as responsive as some others I've used.

The touchpad seems a tad small and the buttons (left/right click) seem too low by comparison to the keyboard. It could be the size of my hands (small...) but I tend to think it's just the layout.

The high gloss finish inside and the glossy display (versus matte finish) look cool, but do show fingerprints and reflect light to the point of sometimes being a nuisance.

There is no 'media only' button like on the XPS where you don't have to turn on the computer to watch a movie, but this is something that higher end laptops would have and may simply be a perk to paying more.

Heavier than some others, but at under six pounds, it's still not too bad.

Matte finish on the outside shows greasy smudges where you've touched it. I have the same issue with my XPS, but frankly I've never found a finish that doesn't show something.

Not a multi-media or gaming powerhouse. It will play dvd's and games, but if you're buying a laptop and really into those things, spend a bit more and make sure you upgrade your video and audio to support your interests. The 4GB of memory really helps as much as anything and I didn't notice any issues with the media I tested.

SET-UP:

The only issue I had with setting up this laptop was with my home network not being accepted because Windows 7 didn't like the security settings I had in place. I could get the 1545 to recognize my network, but it wouldn't connect until I changed the settings. I had my wireless settings on WEP and Windows 7 wanted WPA. Once I changed the settings, the laptop connected. I then had to go to 8 different devices on my network and make sure they were happy. Only one item: Myine Electronics IR001 WiFi Internet Radio Adaptor wasn't happy, but eventually accepted the settings with some concentrated tweaking.

BATTERY LIFE:

Battery life seems to be about 3.5 hours. I think the 4+ hour estimate is high, but that undoubtedly is also based upon what things you are doing on the laptop and mobile power settings.

CONCLUSION:

If you purchase this Dell you are getting a solid workhorse for every day computing for a fair price. I think it's quality is certainly higher than an Acer with the same specs, and backed by a 1 year warranty from Dell. (Having had a Dell laptop that needed the keyboard replaced recently, I truly think the warranty service provided by Dell they came to my house the next day is exceptional and worth the small price hike over some other brands.)

The Dell Inspiron 1545 is perfect for a student, a grandma who likes to email or wants to keep up with the grandkids on Skype, or anyone who has no need for the latest and greatest gaming, multi-media computer. For a laptop with a webcam, 4GB memory, and Windows 7 (64-bit) that's ready to fly right out of the box... it's a good choice.

**WIRELESS NOTE: If you are having trouble connecting to a wireless network, be sure you check the included 'set-up guide', page 10, to find the wireless key on your keyboard. You can inadvertently press this key and turn off your wireless capabilities. Handy on airplanes... not so handy at home.

We bought the Dell Inspiron 15 (1545) to replace an aging ACER laptop as an "everyday" laptop for my teen son to use for homework and casual gaming. For the price, the performance, features and display have far exceeded our expectations. While not a gaming or graphics power machine, it has more than enough processor speed, memory, and hard drive space for our needs.

This is a very simple laptop to set up and use. The box only contains the PC (with battery already installed), the power supply, and a packet of software CDs (which I did not use) with minimal documentation. The instructions recommended charging the laptop for 12 hours before using the battery, which was fine as I just left it plugged in while configuring the machine. The initial setup took about 20 minutes, and was very straight forward as it found and connected right away to my WEP protected home WiFi network. The Windows 7 configuration was straight forward and no errors were encountered. Dell also recommends updating the BIOS right away and the instructions are included in the documentation. It was a very easy process and only took another 20 minutes or so to complete.

PROS:

+ Windows 7 is preinstalled 64 bit OS, works well

+ Very Nice 15.6" Screen Very clear and bright

+ Good Webcam and Software Provides better than expected image and video quality

+ Fast DVD+RW Drive

+ Large Hard Drive

I also have had issues with Dell and the Inspiron 1545. Firstly, there is a known issue with the cursor randomly jumping to a different spot while typing. At first I thought it was an issue with MS Word, but then it began happening anywhere I was typing outside of Word such as Gmail or even writting a review for Amazon. Researching the issue online, I found I was not alone with this problem. Trying to get support from Dell was a joke. They give you the run around until you give up. Then, about 3 months after I bought it, the touchpad stopped working. I only paid $649.00 for the machine, so I expected mid-level performance, but needless to say I was disappointed with my first Dell laptop. I own 2 Dell desktops that I have had no issues with. However, I will not be buying another Dell laptop.

First off, let me state that this is an excellent laptop for any user. It has any basic requirements that a casual user would want such as: wireless internet, easy-to-use mouse pad, fast start up speeds, DVD/CD player and recorder, and a beautifully sized screen. For the more advanced user it is also more than suitable comprising of 4 GB of RAM, 300 GB of hard drive space, and a 64-bit CPU. Not only all does it contain these features, but it is extremely simple to set up. Dell makes an excellent laptop. All the parts run smoothly and placed into a very durable shell that comprises the Dell Inspiron laptop. Not only does it look great, but with the the new Windows 7 operating system this computer runs faster than ever before. I have owned this laptop for over a year and half and have still yet to come up any issues involving my laptop. The only downside i have to this laptop is the battery life. After about a year of usage the battery life seems to start dropping more rapidly than most other laptops do. Other than the battery life, this laptop contains all the specifications most anybody would be more than pleased with and for the price this laptop is the best buy in the market place.

I was looking for a laptop for my wife and I to use to replace our last laptop which was a Dell Inspiron 8100 (yes I know it would seem that this would be a later model but the odometer must have clicked over on their model numbering system). That laptop was 9 years old. Still original screen and keyboard. I did replace the hard drive with a larger one and had to replace the batteries once along with the screen hinge. Other than that my first Inspiron lasted well past its predicted life. The cost of that laptop $2500.

The year is now 2010 and I was able to pick this laptop up from Dell for $549 with a bonus of 4GB ram. It has a dual core intel chip. It is easily as powerful as my current desktop. I reinstalled the Windows 7 operating system right out of the box wiping out all of the Dell factory added software. Usually those programs are just clutter. In 30 minutes I was firing Windows 7 up on the new Inspiron.

We have had it for about a week and we are very pleased with the purchase. I'll just quickly go over a few of the positives, some of the items that could have been made better and some features that I didn't think about when ordering the laptop that I would have liked to add but didn't.

This laptop is the base model of base models in the laptop world. Make sure whatever laptop you get it has a great cpu and plenty of memory. The hard drive you can change later, the rest you can not. For this price point the CPU and memory is fantastic. No issues running multiple applications. It will work great for Photo editing software, internet browsing and watching online movies or playing music.

The network card included is a 54mb/s speed (G) however there was a choice to get the faster N network card which I opted not to get. Two days after I got the laptop my router broke and I bought a new N network router. Now my laptop is stuck at the slower speed. *BUT SLOWER IS PLENTY FAST FOR ANYTHING YOU WANT TO DO HERE* If you don't need the cutting edge speed then stick with the G option. A note about N there is no standard yet for this speed. This means that devices could be incompatible with newer Routers if the standar is finalized differently than it exists now.

I chose the 9-cell battery over the standard 6 cell. I am big on getting alot of time out of a charge in a laptop. It is nice to not have to plug it in for 6 hours. Which is about what I am getting at the moment. This will decrease over time so the higher starting point will make the mid life range of the battery probably be in 4 hour range. Note though that the 9 cell battery uses a modified battery cover and extends from the back of the laptop with 3 extra batteries.

The screen is bright and clear. It is not full high def but close to half high def. (The resolution is not the official 720p half high def but in fact just slightly higher.) Being a base laptop with an economy price the need for anything more expensive will really outdo the other components and I find it is unnecessary for my purposes.

The look is simple which is my preference. The insides of the laptop around the keboard and screen are Jet Black (and attract fingerprints) the outside of mine is flat black with a silver Dell logo. This also attracts greasy fingerprints. You will have to just not let this bother you and clean it with a soft cotton cloth every once in a while. Its a a budget laptop with great looks and clean lines.

So the good inexpensive, good option for a longer life batter, clear bright screen.

The annoying (I wouldn't call it bad because it is a budget laptop). Probably to make these next few items better the cost of the laptop would increase.

The pointer a pad in this model. We loose the fingertip pointer on the keyboard which I used almost exclusively in my old laptop. They cleaned up the touch pad and made it look integral to the remainder of the case of the laptop. There are no edges for crumbs to get caught in. There are two buttons below it for right and left clicking. This is adequate for the laptop of this price range. However the annoying part comes in that it is touch. Typing and a brief graze with a thumb will relocate your pointer. Annoying but you get used to it. The last annoying thing about it is that it is very difficult to select a larger portion of text. This can probably be fixed by adjusting the pointer setting in Windows. I just haven't gotten to that yet.

Since we didn't get a high def screen there is no high def output. I wanted to connect this to my tv to view some Hulu.com shows but there was nothing to accomplish this. There is a single VGA out to connect to a External Monitor or a Project but no dongle as in the Inspiron 8100 that just gave us an S VIDEO out. A sign of the times I guess.

Ok so I guess not too many annoying things. More better than worse with the best feature being the price making this laptop reachable by most budgets. Spend the extra $150 bucks and get this laptop over a Mini (netbook).

I would buy this from dell directly. Shipping may take longer however you can often find deals like I did for money off the price along with an upgrade to 4GB memory. It ships with Windows 7 64bit and this OS is plenty worth it, a large improvement over Vista. Brings me back to the Windows XP times.

I give this 4 starts not 5 because of the lack of the fingertip pointer, no external video connection to connect to the TV's of today. I would get 4 and a half probably. I hope this one will last me another at least 5 years.

One other note before I go Dell laptops are fragile. If you take care of them, don't carry them by the screen, close them with not in use and just be overall gentle with their use and placing them down. Keep it in a padded bag and it should serve you well. To get the best life out of the battery, use the battery! Plug it in to charge it to 100% and then unplug it. Use it until it has as close as you feel comfortable to 0% I usually use it to around 15% and then plug it back in overnight.

A bought this laptop over 6months ago, and i have been using it consistently, this is not my first laptop, but it is the best i have ever bought so far.

Pros:

Slim and light, hence easy to carry around.

Battery life very good, more than 4hrs when in a good climate (be careful if you gonna use it in a hot climate, battery life could be just 2hrs).

Automatically activated lowlight condition for keyboard, this makes it good to use in the dark, the backlight only comes up in the dark when the keyboard is pressed.

Hard disk size is big enough for any multimedia data.

Cons:

The only issue found so far is the memory, though i have not proved this much, but I noticed atimes when the HDMI port is being used and a movie is played at the same time, there are atimes some delay. Hence, am trying to increase the system memory from present 4gb to 8gb. But so far, this is a very good laptop.

I have used this amazingly capable computer for many applications and communication under many conditions driving across this country several times both indoors and outdoors wired and wireless with bluetooth, skype and android apps. With Intel-i5, Windows-7, and a back lit keyboard after 20 months, it has proven to be a very dependable portable asset to my personal and business needs. I have added a Nushield screen protector, a hygienic keyboard skin from Abeststore.com, and a Microsoft Explorer Blue Track mouse. Tiny Built in speakers are quite weak, some lower case heat buildup, and the battery life is fair to good depending on use and settings, none the less I rate this 13.3-inch laptop very good to excellent .

This is my very first laptop i have ever purchased. I am very happy with it. Its in great condition minor scratches but its to be of expected being used. The laptop out of the box looks amazing, very thin, about 0.1 thinner than the Macbook Pro (non-retina) version. The Intel i7 3615QM is extremely fast, almost as fast as my desktop i7 2600K (without overclocking). 6GB RAM is good for the average user, but graphics/design and game intensive users, it is a bit low. There is only 1 RAM slot, a 2GB DDR3 1600Mhz stuck in there, the other 4GB are on the mother board. So, if you want to upgrade, you need to buy a single PC3-12800 1600Mhz 4GB or 8GB stick to perform the best. It is a bit of a hassle because a single 8GB 1600Mhz for laptops are hard to come by at a cheap price. The screen is pretty nice with sharp colors, 1600x900 resolution is actually a plus for this laptop compared to 1920x1080 resolution. Why? This laptop comes with a dedicated Nvidia 640M graphics card with 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM, it is a mid-range chip a bit slower than the 650M. At 1600x900, the GDDR5 640M can outperform a 650M at 1920x1080. Max Payne 3 and Metro 2033 ran smoother on this Samsung compared to the retina Macbook Pro with 650M set to 1920x1080.

The construction is a bit flimsy, thin aluminum screen assembly and plastic bottom. If you are considering upgrading this with an SSD, you have to be VERY careful. This laptop is equipped with a 8GB Express Cache mounted to the motherboard for speeding up load times. It does not do a good job, it is a Sandisk 8GB iSSD that reads about 110MB/s and writes 70MB/s with latency of around 10ms random read. Many SSDs today read and write well over 400MB/s with latency under 0.5ms, so you are stuck with a 8GB flash drive on your mother board pretty much... It is very tricky to work around the express cache when installing Windows 7 to the upgraded SSD without some sort of problem. If you look on Sandisk's website, the lifespan of this 8GB iSSD is well under 3 years with heavy usage everyday. You'd just wish Samsung charged $200 more and sold you a laptop with a 200+GB SSD installed.

With all that aside, the keyboard is very responsive and a plus with the full keyboard. The keyboard back-lit is nice. The mouse pad however is disappointing. It's got all the features like an Apple multi-touch pad, but so much less responsive and inaccurate at control. The ambient light sensor is a joke, either too dark or flash me with the brightest setting... The sensor software sometimes takes about 45 seconds to 1 minute to load with the stock 7200RPM 750GB Hard Drive.... imagine that... The Express Cache does not help at all.

The laptop runs dead silent. Samsung provides an option to only charge your battery only to 80% full to extend battery lifespan over the years, I feel like this is kind of ironic. The system comes loaded with useless software, deleting some of those actually speeds up the start-up time.

At the given price, it is still a good bargain system. Good for PC professionals.

I am currently typing on my new Samsung Series 7 laptop, and what a joy it is. I spent over a month extensively searching for a laptop that would meet all of my needs as an incoming college student studying engineering, and I found this laptop is the champion in that regard. I plan to use this laptop for heavy programming, moderate gaming, and needing something powerful that was portable and rugged.

Hardware:

-Intel 3615QM Processor-clocked at 2.3 but turbo boost to 3.3; this processor can handle anything you throw at it, while the fan stays very quiet and the heat output is minimal

-nVidia 640M with Optimus Technology/Intel Graphics 4000; the Intel saves battery power, but I've noticed it's able to handle most of my programs anyways, and the nVidia only kicked in when it was actually needed. Optimus saves me a lot of battery power.

-6GB ram=No nonsense. Running a couple graphics intensive games, one compiler, and ms word and chrome uses about 5.2 gb. And in no situation would I ever be running all of these at the same time. It's DDR3, fast and plentiful. Upgradeable if you want

-750 HDD; Plenty of space, not much more to say

-8GB ExpressCache SSD: Having it disabled and enabled I can tell it makes a real-world difference in the use of this computer. Chrome, Word, and bootup are very quick and convenient

-Keyboard: very responsive and fun to type on. I wouldn't be typing this much without it. The add-on of a numeric keyboard on a 15 inch machine is awesome and the function keys work as well as I can hope. High build quality and no lag whatsoever.

-Screen: Matte, great viewing angles, can go super bright, not much you can ask for. I wish all manufacturers went matte and 1600x900 looks great. Because of the 16:9 ratio, the computer itself is more rectangular than others. But that just helps it fit into my backpack better. Colors are reproduced well, and I can use it in intense sunlight. But the high brightness eats battery like no other.

Touchpad: A lot of users have complained about the touchpad, but after you alter the settings and practice with it for a week, it's well tuned and works rather well. I was frustrated the first couple days but I learned and am pleased with the response and abilities of the touchpad. Decent palm rejection. Surface is smooth matte, click is clicky.

-Speakers-get pretty loud. For a laptop, quality is pretty good.

-Build Quality: Fantastic. Great aluminum body; yes, the bottom is plastic, but it keeps the weight lower and actually might keep the computer cooler. It's not really noticeable. Very stylish and smooth. The extra thin bezel is great, actually gives it a smaller form factor. And theres just a simple SAMSUNG logo on the lid, and just below the screen. No nonsense design. All around beautiful computer

Actually not much bloatware was installed compared to others, and Windows 7 ran well. Samsung Easy Settings is pretty useful. More convenient than control panel.

I enthusiastically recommend this computer as a high functioning, highly portable machine with great build quality and rock solid performance.

EDIT 1: I forgot to comment on the battery life: with brightness at 70% and wifi on with continuous web browsing, I get 5.5 hours. That's impressive. With brightness at 50% (which isn't as bad as it sounds) and no wifi and watching a movie, I get 6 hours straight video viewing.

-Webcam: Viewing is smooth and the image quality is great for a webcam. Colors can sometimes get grainy when the surroundings are dark, but that's to be expected. The microphone is decent.

-There are some reviews complaining about the wifi reception and strength, but I found it to be strong and reliable, and comparing it to my family's macbook air and iMac, the wifi strength was on par. Using speedtest.net on all three in the same room yielded equal speeds.

Glad I went with these Series 7 Laptops from Samsung, Thin and Light... Beautiful!

Update: I did have a slight issue with the screen having a defect, dark spot along the edge. I noticed it after about an hour, but Amazons awesome customer service had me a replacement at my door today! This one looks better, I know the display is a deal breaker for some but I encourage you to check this system out before you buy if you can, I think you will see it will be far past 90% of people's expectations. Although, being very computer savy and deep into the tech world I do have to agree that this screen coming from the top High Def TV manufacture is very disappointing. This for me is not the deal breaker; I think it's still hard to find a package that provides a thin sexy platform along with still having a optical drive with excellent battery life. Along with the third gen intel i7 this machine is incredible in the performance category.

I still give samsung 5 stars for this laptop but if I could they would get 41/2 for the display!

Update 06/13/2012: OK reducing my rating to a 4 star review because of some reliability issues. Maybe its because this is the first run of the third core edition? First time it was the screen not its the DVD drive. When I received the second unit everything appeared to running AWESOME had zero issues until today. I decided to load a program from a cd media and found that the drive was dead. I thought maybe just my cd nope i tried everything and nothing. So Im waiting on my second replacement, I still have faith in Samsung and this particular computer because I own the 14in version and it is ROCK SOLID! So I am reducing my rating to 4 stars because of my personal experience and the display as i mentioned earlier. I think third times the charm! Fingers Crossed!!!

I have used many brand new PC's in the last year including a samsung series 9, but I thought given the price this series 7 would be worth it. I was wrong. My issues are:

1. Windows/Samsung software issues. When first received, I couldn't change the brightness level on my computer. The button simply did not work. I thought it was a manufacturer defect until I googled it and found out I had install samsung's "easy settings" program, common with such computers. I did so, but I have to start that program every time the lighting issue comes up.

2. Power Management. 80-90% of the time when I plug in, windows recognizes its plugged in, but it won't charge and the extra fans turn on, about 2 seconds later the fan is off and its charging, less than 5 seconds later it reverts back. It does slowly charge the battery, but not efficiently. This messes up the brightness of the screen as well, even with the easy settings program. I have checked google and the other samsung and windows power management settings and couldn't figure it out.

3. Touch Pad I have used many touch pads where the pad itself was used to click and haven't had problems. But after 2 months, this one is starting to stick and windows beeps sometimes when I am scrolling. I'm not heavily using the item, maybe 2 hrs a day, so there is no reason that this should be happening.

Stay away from this product, there are many better ones out there with similar features. I'm stuck with it due to Amazon's return policy.

I did a lot of research before finally deciding to buy this laptop. I looked at HP's DV6 line with Ivy Bridge, the new Asus UX-32VD, and other Asus thin and lights with dedicated graphics, and none of those met the price to performance benchmark laid out by this machine. It's well built, incredibly fast, good for gaming and is portable with good battery life. With a few minor drawbacks, this computer is among the best I've ever owned.

PROs:

Construction:

The construction and build quality are booth excellent. The front and palm rest are brushed aluminum and feel / look great. Some have complained about the plastic on the bottom, but I count it as a plus. It was designed this way intentionally to keep the laptop cool. Ever felt the bottom of a MBP while under load gaming? That thing can burn skin.

Speed:

This is a fast laptop. For those concerned with processing speed for their work, be it photo / video editing or compressing, encryption or modeling, this will be just fine. This is one of the fastest mobile chips available today and will handle just about anything.

Gaming:

I've maxed out Skyrim, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Battlefield 3 on this machine without much issue. Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 run at 40-50fps with AA, and can easily push past the 100's with lowered settings. Battlefield 3 isn't really playable at Ultra settings (FPS in the 20s), but is perfectly playable on Medium (60fps in 32 man MP maps). Skyrim runs at ~30fps at max, but is 50+ on High. All games were played at the native 1600x900.

Keyboard:

The keyboard is large and incredibly comfortable. The keys have good travel and are made of a soft-touch plastic-type material. They don't get cold, and aren't very loud to type on. The number pad is nice, though the keys are a bit smaller than the letter keys. The autodetecting backlight is a bit finicky but overall works well. It illuminates the keys well and isn't too bright on the eyes in a dark room.

Sound:

The sound is overall good. Yes, it's a little bit tinny and gets distorted when the volume is maxed out, the quality and bass are excellent for a laptop. It has stereo speakers and a built in subwoofer, and gets the job done for casual multimedia. I wouldn't consider this laptop a full-fledged entertainment PC, so sound quality wasn't a huge issue to me.

Price:

I got this PC for $1200 plus a free xbox (Mom is doing continuing ed, hehe). This is a great price for this much power and quality. Though I hate to do it... the best comparison may be the 15" Macbook Pro. For similar specs, you'd be spending over 2k for the MBP equivalent. Not bad Samsung, not bad.

Hard Drive:

This computer comes with a 750GB 7200rpm drive, and an 8GB 'express cache' soldered onto the motherboard. I've noticed that my most commonly used programs load instantaneously (Chrome, Outlook, Excel, Skype), and Windows boots fast. I haven't timed it but it is certainly sub-30 seconds.

RAM:

My version came with 8GB of 1600mhz DDR3--some of the fastest ram you can buy for laptops. Multitasking is fast, and I tend to keep a lot of things open. With 100 tabs in Chrome and a bunch of emails open and big spreadsheet and a 1080p YouTube video, everything is butter.

CONs:

Battery:

Samsung claims 8hrs battery life on this machine--I haven't been able to get that. With wifi on, screen set to 1/2 brightness, I can do web-browsing, email and productivity for 7hrs max. This isn't horrible by any means, and is great for a machine this powerful, but keep in mind that it's hard to get the advertised 8hrs.

Screen:

This is a pro and a con. The resolution is excellent. I think 1600x900 is a good resolution for a 15" laptop. I would take 1080p if it were available, but really this is probably more comfortable for long-term use. Unfortunately, the viewing angles aren't amazing. Colors can wash out quickly on the vertical end. Horizontal is a lot better, but nothing compared to the IPS screens found on the MBP and HP Envy series. Also, there is slight light bleeding in the middle of my model, which is only visible on an all-black screen. I could probably return it for a replacement with these issues, but honestly I just don't care enough :P

WiFi:

WiFi connection seems to be a little spotty so far. When this laptop is sitting right next to my desktop (connected to my WiFi network using a cheapo $20 WiFi dongle), the desktop gets a better connection than the laptop. It's been so bad sometimes that I'll have to leave BF3 or SC2 games with latencies above 1000. Not good. I'm hoping this gets some driver updates in the near future.

Overall I am one pleased customer. I would recommend this laptop to anyone, especially enthusiasts who want a thin and light machine with some oomph. It's probably overkill for 99% of the average consumer's uses, but computing in excess is the hallmark of all enthusiasts in the first place. I give this baby 5/5 stars.

I'm an IT tech, and we buy Dell for all our customers, both commercial and residential.

We buy two models, the Optiplex and Latitude laptops, and have a long list of satisfied customers. The most common model we buy is the Latitude E5520 because it offers a good balance of speed, versatility, scalability, and function. It's a high quality item designed for businesses and private users. The E5520 isn't available from Dell anymore (replaced by the Latitude E5300 and 5500 series).

It's a mid-sized machine with a 15.6" widescreen monitor. The machine itself is pretty big, about the same size as my 17" MacBook Pro so about 12" deep, 16" wide, and over an 1" thick, and weighs about 6 lbs. It's constructed mostly of sturdy plastic, which covers the chassis top bottom, and palm rests. with the exception of a thin piece of brushed gunmetal colored aluminum with a matte finished Dell logo covering the top of the lid. The bottom is also metal, and the sides are reinforced with extra plastic. There's a full seal around the edge of the screen, and a zinc alloy latch firmly secures the assembly, which is very secure. The LCD itself is sealed to the lid and protected around the edge of the lid by protective bumpers. The frame is constructed from a mix of aluminum and magnesium to keep it lightweight, and the lid's hinges are steel. Overall the machine is very sturdy, solidly built, and is able to withstand some heavy use and abuse. The keyboard is sealed underneath the keys to prevent leaks or spills from getting inside. This machine is not far off from being a Toughbook.

The touchpad is offset from center to the left due to the full 10-key pad on the right side of the keyboard. The touchpad supports multitouch and is a little small, but not too bad, and features a pointing stick like Lenovo machines, with auxiliary mouse buttons above the touchpad. As a plus, this model comes with a backlit keyboard.

The monitor is a 15.6" anti-glare, LED backlit, 16.7 million color widescreen. In stock trim it's 1366x786 resolution, so it's not super high resolution, so don't expect a full HD experience on it. You do have the option of a full 1080 HD screen though, but the stock display is plenty bright, has excellent color reproduction, contrast, and does a good job of showing fine detail. The anti-glare works very well outdoors.

Hardware set varies and there are a dizzying list of available options. We order ours with the Intel Core i5-2520M 2.5 GHz quad core CPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 320 GB SATA 6 HDD, DVD-R/RW super multi optical drive, and Intel's HD 3000 graphics chip, which shares system memory. Nothing fancy. There's also gigabit ethernet, b/g/n wireless card, an eSATA/USB port, 4 USB 2.0 ports, memory card reader, 54mm express expansion slot, 1 full and 2 half height mini card slots, HDMI, VGA, and 1394 800 FireWire, and Dell's docking port on the bottom that lets you connect the laptop to an expansion bay with extra USB or other ports. This configuration makes it fast and reliable. We exclusively order Win 7 Pro 32 bit. The Intel CPU sips power, runs cool, and has great performance for lots of computing power. You can get 3 battery options with the Lat: a 4, 6, or 9-cell lithium ion pack, with the top being good for 97 watt hours. I forget which battery we ordered, but the machine lasts for about 3 hours under normal use with WiFi running.

Overall, it's a very good package that rivals Lenovo, HP, and Panasonic's Toughbook for features and affordability. Adding options adds to the price considerably though. For a similarly configured HP or Lenovo, figure on the Latitude costing a couple hundred more dollars. For a business or home user, it's great. The E5520 will last a long time, and if something does happen to it, Dell's warranty is first-class. If you add the optional 3-year, you extend the 1-year, which in itself awesome. If it breaks, Dell will fix it by either sending a tech or shipping a new part. As a plus, the Latitudes are fairly easy to work on, unlike the Lenovo's, which are a nightmare. I've been inside lots of Latitudes, and can say it's nice to work on them. I love how Dell doesn't load their machines with bloatware from the factory. There is only one or two programs that are easy to remove if you don't want them.

I love this computer it's fast, efficient and very asthetically pleasing with a streamlined clean design. My favorite feature is how fast it isno hicups or waiting around just smooth continous operation. I recommend it for someone like myself who is just looking for a good solid computer for work, study or entertainment. (watching videos or listening to music) I don't do gaming or download movies so I can't coment on thatbut for basically anything else you can think of this computer delivers and then some. This is a very nice laptop, and I have a few comments on it myself. It's battery life is about 4 hours at 80%(set at that to preserve battery life), the graphics are great, and the sound is LOUD, but it does sound kind of tinny(no bass, duh). It comes with a Plants vs. Zombies trial, and a shark dash full version. The laptop plays Star Wars Battlefront 2 on it, so you know it has good speed. It plays it without delay, and is very fast. On all the other computers the internet is slow, but on this thing for some reason it is very fast. Now for the problem that most users are afraid of: Windows 8. It really isn't that bad. I am not the I-phone kind of person, so I disregard most of the stuff on it. Basically what it is is an app menu that you can put what you want on it(like installed games, or Google chrome, which, by the way, doesn't come with it), and have ease of access to things like S-Player(aka, a twisted version of windows media player), and the internet. The only problem I have with this computer is the touch pad. It is unresponsive to the scroll feature(two fingers in a direction), so you may have to buy a mouse for this computer. Luckily, I already had one so this wasn't an issue. I would recommend this laptop to anyone, because it is a masterpiece of laptops. Save your money on a big expensive one, and buy this one!

The laptop is not as gigantic as i expected it to be, maybe i've gotten used to the screensize.

The battery life is decent, i live in a country with regular blackouts and this battery serves me well.

Once you get used to windows 8, it totally rocks. You can pinch to zoom with the mousepad of this laptop.

Consider buying a remote mouse. Right now i use my phone as a remote.

The sound is powerful.

What i hate: the regular solitaire etc are missing. pinball 3D is the only full game that comes with the system. I don't mind buying games, but data connection's very expensive where i live.

I needed a large screen for games, movies and pattern-making software. For less than $500, this baby is a dream come true.

Exactly as described. I adore it. Best Microsoft windows laptop in my opinion. I love the look of it and windows 8 is pretty awesome as well. Its not as hard to operate as people have been saying it is. i just got my laptop today and im already used to it. lol. You still have the original desktop to so theres nothing different except the setup in the begining. And if you order this laptop on amazon. i suggest getting it through amazon and go about the free shipping they offer when you buy more then one thing over 25 dollars. my estimated shipping was for next week and i ordered it on monday. Waaaay earlier then expected which is even better! So, if your thinking about getting this laptop, go for it! Deffinetly worth it and its different in a good way from the rest. :3

I deliberately waited a few months to write a review on this so I had time to truly discover what I did and did not like about this laptop.

The Operating System

A big difference to me was made by Windows 8. I'll be honest, I don't much like the OS. It takes me a good few minutes to find certain programs that I could find in seconds on XP or Windows 7. Also the OS seems to have a function that works through the mousepad that minimizes the function or game you are on and snaps back to the desktop it's pretty annoying when gaming so I use a separate mouse for that. It just seems like the OS missed the mark in anticipating the needs of people using it. My mother has the same laptop and she made the same comment to me just recently, and she's not a gamer! So truly, gamer or not, you may find Windows 8 a bit of a pain, at least until you get used to it. The system also comes with Kaspersky Internet security 2013 which is a great anti-virus/security system.

The Laptop

The laptop itself is a dream! The keys are lit from below so you can even use it in the dark without the need to switch a nearby lamp on. The 'Fn' key works like a shift to enable your F-keys to adjust thinks like brightness and sound, meaning they casn be used as regular F-keys in games (I had a previous laptop where you had to press 'Fn' to use those keys as F keys, so I greatly appreciate this!).

The laptop is desinged around you shutting the lid to place it into a power-saving mode, so most of the time you will never need to shut down. The manufacturer claims it can be left in this mode for up to 2 days unplugged, although I've only tested it for about a day. When you open the lid the laptop is ready in seconds, so it saves a lot of time setting up overall.

While the main reason I bought the laptop was for Skyping with family in England, (the built-in webcam and mic are what I looked for) I do spend a lot of time gaming. The laptop runs Star Wars: The Old Republic very smoothly. I also play APB Reloaded and Stat Trek Online with no problems, and at high graphics settings. In choosing this laptop I looked for system specs that would run the new Sim City game, though I haven't bought that yet! All of these games run smoothly and the laptop hardly even gets warm. The fan system works very well indeed!

Overall

The OS is a pain sometimes but you can live with it. The benefits of how this laptop runs and works and the fact that it hasn't run into anything it can't handle far outweigh the few niggling problems I've had with Windows 8. I couldn't bring myself to rate this laptop less than 5 stars and my wife will tell you I've spent every spare minute on it since it arrived! If you're prepared to spend a little more than the average cheap-end $400 laptops, this one is great value for money.

Northing like I expected from Sony. The camera on this laptop is the worst I've ever seen, I mean the quality is so poor you can see the real pixels. This has been the most disappointing computer I've ever bought.

As I already had a 7200rpm 500G slim hard disk, I decided to replace the 5400rpm one in it. It is very easy to open, no specific care needed. Took a little while to change the standard 2.5" slim disk. compared with the mSATA SSD hard disk used in S7, future updates to SSD could be much more affordable.

Beyond my expectation, this 24G SSD for rapid storage is upgradable with a standard mSATA port. 2 partitions on this disk, probably a system restore image and a cache partition. I just erased them all and assigned all 24G as IRST disk. Now it takes only seconds to fulfill a fully start up. You may need to find the correct IRST driver from other source than the Acer website. And activate RAID mode in CMOS setting.

I've read comments that this laptop may have bad WiFi signal, it could be true. A very stupid design made the white antenna wire too tight that the connection could loose by tiny force. If you have a WiFi problem, check it.

Battery life is not long, excel, word process for around 5hrs. watching movie with speaker for 2.5hrs, all with full screen back light capacity on. It could be improved simply by upgrading the hard disk to a SSD disk. But this battery life is good enough for me. USB port can not charge your phone when the laptop is shut down.

Keyboard is comfort for typing. I also tried to play game with it, cannot response when 3 keys are pressed simultaneously. touch pad is too touchy, but I usually use a mouse and disable it so not a problem for me.

No fancy touch screen or stupid simplified keyboard or weird port like S7, this laptop is functional in every aspects, worth every penny you pay. Surprisingly the price went up after I bought it. English is my 2nd language, leave a note if anything I wrote here is confusing, I'll try to reply~

I was looking for something lighter (light weight). You will get many products with same configuration but you have to spend around $950 or above. Then I was considering for MacBook Air but it has some restrictions on Windows, Linux and some windows based software. Finally I got the Acer product which is lighter than MacBook Air. I'm using this with dual boot (windows 7 and ubuntu). I'm satisfied with the performance. You can definitely consider this if you are low in budgets and high in choices!!!

Just got it for a day. I wanted light weight with window 7 for my dual boot (linux). There are two concerns so far. The fan makes big noise and battery runs for 2.5 to 3 hours only.

I bought one of these for my daughter who needed a laptop that was very portable, but had a bigger screen than notebooks have. It proved to have a solid build quality, and setup was very easy. The keyboard is good, and the screen very crisp. Intel chipset is stated to be a GS40 but CPU-Z reports it is actually the better GS45 chip. Only found a few negatives to report on an otherwise nice unit.

Cons:

Internal Video camera has poor frame rate. Viewsonic does not provide a custom driver for the camera, so it uses a Windows 7 downloaded driver dated 2006. Switched to a entry level Logitech USB2 webcam, and that worked perfectly.

No latch to keep unit closed, but this is minor as the hinge is very firm and it takes a lot of pressure to open and close the laptop.

Noticed a slight lag on startup on some applications with the stock memory configuration of 2 Gigs. Probably due to the memory sharing of video card. Adding another 2 gigs of DDR3-8500 memory made this unit noticeably faster.

Depending on the actual price paid, this unit can be a great alternative to the heavy 15" screen choices typically found for under $500.00

I needed a laptop that was portable and was initially drawn to the netbooks. But their screens and keyboards seemed too small to be useful. The Viewsonic VNB 132 fills the bill very nicely -its full-size keyboard is comfortable to use; it has a good display and so far seems to work very nicely. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium instead of the starter edition. Pleased with the purchase.

This little computer is a great combination of netbook and notebook features! It's incredibly light and portable, but the dual core processor also means it runs surprisingly well! I rarely run cd's or dvd's on a laptop, so I don't miss it at all. I have an external dvd burner, so I can make a backup and restore disk -something I consider a necessity. It comes with minimal programs installed, which I like. Mine came with a trial version of Office 2007, which I uninstalled and never touched. It also came with MicroTrend Internet Security, which actually happens to be what my husband already runs with a subscription, so that's great. It has face recognition security option, which I don't like but think it's nifty. Also, be aware that the power cord uses a 3 prong grounded type, so if you only have 2 prong outlets you'll need an adapter.

I ordered this computer with a much lower processor than I originally wanted, intending to sacrifice power for light-weight and portable. I am delighted that I feel like I didn't sacrifice a thing! I may actually sell my other laptop as I am very happy with this one. Although I will upgrade the RAM if I sell my other laptop, for the moment I don't feel the need to.

I can stream Hulu and Netflix without any issues, so I'm very happy.

I also don't have any issues with the trackpad that I've seen others mention. Although be aware that the trackpad is level with the laptop instead of in a slightly lowered area like others.

Bought this for college. Pros are only that it's lightweight and aesthetically pleasing.

Cons are through the roof. Though it worked okay for the first 6 months, then this POS took a face first dive. Excruciating load times, freezes constantly, unusable webcam, overheats, struggles in every aspect of computer performance. Lately I can't even have this run for more than 5 minutes until I have to do a hard shutdown after windows crashes.

I'm a tech savy guy, and I know what to put on my computer. This thing can't handle jack. I run no programs other than antivirus and it's become a struggling media holder for me.

Don't buy this.

Buy Sony EG3 Series Laptop VPCEG3PFX/W 14-Inch Laptop (Glacier White)

Purchased this laptop as a gift for a niece that's graduating high school. Figured a 14" laptop would offer a great balance of portability and size to get the job done in college. I was originally looking to get a laptop that has an Intel i3 processor minimum. But the only decent one I found was at least $100+ than this one. Anyway, I determined a college student wouldn't need much processing power to tackle the normal tasks that a student in college should be doing anyway (i.e. emails, internet surfing, word processing, etc.). Don't be fooled, I was surprised at how fast and snappy the Pentium dual core processor is in this system. I was able to start this machine up pretty fast and the setup was a breeze. To my surprise, there was very little bloatware too. My only comparison I have really is my Sony Vaio 14" laptop (VPCCW13FX) that I got several years ago. It has the same RAM but is using the older Intel® Core(tm) 2 Duo T6600 (2.20GHz) processor. The only other difference is my older laptop has a dedicated graphics card by NVIDIA (256MB VRAM). I'll tell you what... I checked out a benchmark comparison and the newer Pentium outpaces my older laptop. So to sum it up, this new 'budget' EG3 Vaio laptop still kicks pretty decent butt for the price. I could definitely see the speed difference and it was still able to handle normal tasks as well as run Adobe CS3 (i.e. Photoshop) without problems. I also like how the EG3 laptop has an HDMI out. I enjoy connecting my HDMI cable to my LCD flat panel TV to watch some of my shows streaming over the net (i.e. Hulu, Netflix, etc.).

If you have the extra money to spend, I'd still recommend getting a laptop with an i3, i5, or i7 processor (more RAM the better too). But if you want a decent machine for doing simple tasks and then some, you can't go wrong with this EG3 Vaio. I really like my older Vaio because it's still running strong and I had no second thought picking this new one up. In my experience, Sony/Vaio is a quality manufacturer.

On a side note, I picked up a matching white mouse, the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500. As for the case, I picked up the Samsonite Xenon Laptop Portfolio. Both are a great match for this laptop that you might want to consider.

I bought this for my retired parents who mainly wanted a medium sized laptop for internet, email and occasional movies. I was not expecting much for $430 but the laptop was a pleasant surprise in its performance and responsiveness. And I added another 2GB of ram for a few bucks which made it super fast.

Pros

Medium weight, not super heavy

Nice wide screen for 16:9 movie watching

Display is nice and bright with crisp colors

Works well with our wireless n network

Unlike other laptops that fill out all the ram slots, this one uses only one slot for the 4GB RAM so adding more doesn't mean replacing

Has an optical drive (my parents still use dvds/cds)

Runs cool, I had it on my lap for several hours with no discomfort

Didn't time the battery life, but lasted at least 3 hours

Cons

Not super stylish, with a weird plasticy shell

Feels kind of clunky (maybe I am used to my macbook air)

Lots of bloatware that's a pain to uninstall

Other options

Before buying this I considered chromebooks briefly since they were in similar price range and form factor, but I decided against it for two reasons: First, my parents print a lot of stuff (its crazy-webpages/emails etc) and chromebooks support a limited set of printers. Second, I saw mixed reviews on chromebook usability when not online, and it felt like it'd not be the right fit for my not so tech savvy parents.

I also looked at the acers/asus' etc in the 400-550 price range. I think some of them had bigger screens / more powerful processors, but the one gating factor with all of those was the weight/size they were all massive and didn't seem good for travel.

I just bought this laptop, and I absolutely LOVE it. I've had an HP and an Acer, but this laptop tops them both. The Acer was a good laptop, but it was time for me to get a new one. This laptop is lightweight, fashionable, and overall very durable. It has a sleek look to it, and it's basically an Apple Mac without the ridiculous price tag. With 640gb, and being built for media, it's a great laptop for anyone, from a gamer from someone who just needs a lot of space for their music. Even someone who just simply needs a laptop for sending mail to others, the keys are easy to see and are individually spaced so there is a lower chance for typing the wrong thing.

Two things that I absolutely love about this laptop are that the part of the charger that plugs into the laptop is L-shaped, so even if it moves around the cord inside won't break. I had that problem with my HP and I have completely sworn off HP computers. I have also had a few other problems with HP, but it's just not worth buying an HP.

Also, the part of the charger that goes into the wall only has two prongs, not three, so it can be plugged into any outlet. I live in a very old house, so the majority of my wall outlets are only two pronged. This is nice because now no matter where I go I can plug in my laptop. It also has a very long battery life.

Overall, this is a great laptop, and if I could give it ten stars I would.
