The only thing wrong with this computer is the processor, it says its the Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor (Quad-Core, 2.2GHz, 6MB Cache), but its actually the one right below it the Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor (Quad-Core, 2.0GHz, 6MB Cache). But other than that everything is correct in the description. Now if the processor is making you think twice, don't. I'm running Elder Scrolls Skyrim on High settings with no problem, Crysis 2 is also on High settings. I play these games with iTunes and many more applications open and have no problem (but I did upgrade my Ram to 16GB 1600MHz, so I should be able to have many applications open). The only thing I would have liked with this computer is a Blu-Ray player because the display is simply beautiful.

For $2000.00 you get more than what you pay for, it is a awesome computer and hasn't been able to handle anything I throw at it. This thing can beat most desktops, so you will be very happy with it.

This is a Beautiful Laptop with much decorative lighting and is super fast. It is very

well made and very sturdy. The keyboard portion of the laptop itself is very well laid out, making for easy reaches. A Gamer I'm not. My theory in choosing this laptop is that a gamer laptop would contain all the "bells and whistles" that I'd like in a laptop. I was right! Great Laptop, and I'm TOTALLY PLEASED with my purchase!

I bought an Alienware M17x in November of 2011, I loaded it up with a total cost of $5750. By March I expirenced power issues. The power adapter is plugged in but the system does not recognize the adapter. This causes the CPU to throttle back and run very slow. Dell has trouble shooted the problem over the phone, sent a technician out to replaced the mother board and adapter 5 times now. The problem still exists. They refuse to refund my money or exchange the system. Customer support says it is against policy to exchange unless I have the 4 repairs done within 30 days. Them being slow to dispatch technicians prevents 30 day policy to work in my favor. I did pay for the exteneded priemer warranty, which is now apparent to me that this was also a waste of my money. Search Google "Alienware M17x power issues". You will see I am not alone is the complaint.

Honest reviews on Alienware M18X AM18X-6732BAA 18.4-Inch Laptop (Black)

I have been a PC Gamer since the PC game was invented. I have owned a few computers in that time.

The Alienware Desktop and Laptop I own have been superb machines in every respect. The desktop I used for over 5 years playing Everquest on average 6 hours a night 5 nights a week and 10 hours every Saturday. I never had a single problem in all that time until the Hard drive gave up the ghost. I replaced it with an Alienware laptop because I had not upgraded a single thing in that desktop computer and it was a bit out of date. I have used the laptop for 2 years just as hard and not a hicuup.

I expect a good tax return this year and with some cash I have saved I am going to buy the baddest Alienware custom built from the Alienware Website.

I understand that most computers are made of the same basic components that are available. But how those components work together and the outstanding build quality in an Alienware is unmatched by few companies.

An Alienware is a reliable, well built piece of art.

I will start by saying I have not purchased this exact laptop. However please read what I have to say before you shrug it off as someone who doesnt know what I'm talking about.

When looking for a powerhouse of a laptop like this there is one thing you should always concider. Am I getting the most bang for my buck? When it comes to Alienware you absolutly are NOT. Unless you are looking for a laptop that looks really cool that is. An example would be the Clevo P180HM for good bang for your buck. You can check out places like notebookreview. com for sellers as amazon doesnt have it(yet) or for information on the laptop itself. Long story short it has the exact same specs as this laptop except it also has 2 gforce 560m in SLI and the starting price before customization is under 2 grand. Yes folks thats right. 2 graphics cards in SLI, everything else the same and its about 4-600 dollars less depending on the retailer.

I am writing this to remind people to look around before you buy just because you know the name. Alienwares look awesome no doubt. However in most cases you are paying for the name and the looks. Even quality of build and specs can be gotten much cheaper with a lesser known name. Btw, Clevo is actually pretty well known in laptop enthusiest groups.

I cannot review this from a tech geek level but can say it is fast and easy to use. Love the lighted keyboard and all its other features. Glad I spent the money on it.

While it has Windows 8, which most people seem to hate, I don't mind it. No one likes change and all I did was look at some videos on how to navigate through it. Toshiba has one on their site and I also looked at a Windows 8 tutorial on YouTube. It is not as bad as people say, just have to take the time to learn how to use it.

I've read some of the other people's reviews here & some bear merit & others are complete horse... actually, I don't know if I can use that word here, but you get the idea. That said, I'm going to try to be as fair as possible with this review.

First of all, I'm not a computer guy, in fact, I hate technology with a passion. I'm the kind of guy who would rather sit in a garage all day rebuilding an old engine than sitting on a computer playing vidya games. That being said, I use computers quite a bit. Do I know a hell of a lot about them? For a 29 year old, hell no, I don't. What I will say is that when you have multiple windows open, this thing lags bad. Really bad. I've yet to have major problems with streaming movies & for the most part, it does what it says on the tin. Just don't expect to have a hundred tabs open on your browser or run multiple programs at once, because you'll be sorely disappointed.

I'm not going to lie, I've had to replace the battery once already(about 2 months ago) & I'm looking at doing so again soon. Not just to have another spare battery, but because this thing eats batteries like a U.S.N. Gato Class submarine(That's WW2, in case you don't know. Not the best tech around at the time). Fortunately, the batteries, as of now, are easy to come by here for a relatively cheap price. Something around $20-25USD will get you a new one, & that's not too bad.

It over heats. Oh, I don't mean that it just gets warm, no, that wouldn't be bad. No, this thing has gotten so hot that my keyboard keys are actually a higher elevation by the power button than the rest of the keyboard. Yes, I allow for ventilation & no, I don't use this thing while laying in bed with it sitting on my comforter. I bought a little tray table for that exact reason.

Will it play movies? Yes. Will it play vidya games from 4 years ago? Yes. Will it browse the net? Yes. Are you buying an Alienware? Are you smoking crack? I bought this thing for $305 at Wal-Mart a year ago, it's now $200 on here. That means that you're looking at a cheap laptop, so exactly, what do you think you're looking at? Idk why, but I didn't get a webcam & I feel kinda cheated by that. Whatever, I'm not really the Chatroulette kinda guy anyway.

For some reason, & I really don't download, but I find that restoring this thing to the factory settings every other month or so makes it faster that before. Or maybe it's because I go on 4Chan all the time & click the links like a summerfag. Overall though, this thing will get the job done, barely, but it will get the job done nonetheless. For what it is, being a cheap laptop, I'd reccomend it even though it pisses me off sometimes.

TL;DR if you're looking for a cheap laptop to bring everywhere & not worry about, stop looking & buy this. If you want amazing quality, what the hell are you doing looking at a $200 laptop?

Kudos to HP for this little powerhouse. My daughter left it out in the rain overnight, the cover wide open. When I found it and picked it up it was dripping wet, and water poured off of it onto the ground. The keyboard was swimming. Fearing the worst, I turned it on and, voila! Fired up instantly like a champ with no screen problems. The touchpad was inoperative so I figured it was toast, but after turning it upside down for a day and letting it dry out completely, the touchpad restored itself as well, and it's all working perfectly ever since. wow!

Overall this is a great little computer (purchased for my junior high age child). But Amazon indicates this model has a built-in webcam. That is dead wrong. I don't think I will return it for this simple fact, but the product features need to be updated.

Please do not waste your money on this completely worthless piece of crap. It barely has enough memory to run a browser and paint, and quite often I cannot even watch a streaming movie when nothing else is open and my internet is at full speed. Sometimes if I right click to save a picture, it takes literally 10 seconds for the dialog box to open. And it was like this from the time I got it.

By the way, let's not forget the mouse pad. You have to use actual strength to push down on the pad in order to click something. It's the worst design I have ever seen. Forget about highlighting anything because you won't have the finger strength.

Poor design, poor quality, unbelievably slow and worthless. You'd be much better off buying a basic netbook at Target or Walmart because they will run much faster than this.

P.S. Many people received this (like me) as part of a class action lawsuit against NVIDIA as a settlement. Choosing cash was not an option. So I received this to replace an HP laptop ($1400 in 2007). What a joke. Nice to know what you think of your customers.

First things first. This is the REVISED version of the Sandy Bridge chip-set. For all of you who are worried about the recall you don't have to worry when buying this laptop.

I purchased this laptop as a replacement for my old HP G60. I have been wanting to buy a new computer for some time now but had never looked too deeply into it. I originally wanted to build a custom pc and never thought that a laptop could keep up with a desktop. That is until I saw this computer. This computer is an amazing piece of hardware which manages to stay cool to the touch after hours of operation. Never would I have thought that I could find a laptop this powerful, let alone for under $1800.

PROS:

It has the new i7 Sandy Bridge which can tear through any task you throw at it.

The nvidia GTX 460M with 1.5 GB of DDR5. Windows tells me this card has 4GB total memory

Great speakers for a laptop. Never have I heard such sound come from a laptop.

The screen which as far as I can tell has about the same contrast as my 40 inch LED TV.

Can output 3D onto a 3DTV through HDMI

The keyboard has a great feel and the back light looks great every time I see it

The finish feels great to touch and does not show fingerprints.

This computer has BY FAR the best cooling I have seen on a laptop. It stays cooler than my old G60 which would power off if left sitting on a flat surface and would burn my hands.

CONS:

Honestly I dont have any cons that I can find. Just some problems that I am sure most people wont experience. After I installed virpe antivirus i got a BSOD and had to do a system restore to fix. However after the system restore I had to uninstall the drivers for the back lit keyboard and re-install them so they would work again. That and this computer came with Google chrome pre-installed. It would not open or uninstall. I had to install a new copy of chrome for it to work and now on my add/remove programs i have 2 copies of Google chrome.

Overall this laptop far exceeds my expectations for what a laptop can do. Most desktops will have a hard time keeping up with it. If you are in the market for a desktop replacement I honestly cant think of a much better way to spend $1800.

I bought this computer because I am a budding photographer and casual gamer. I couldn't believe how much computer I got for the price. I purchased the computer 2/1/2011 and it arrived 2 days later. The first thing I tried to do was create the recovery discs only to find out the computer would not burn dvd's. I had called Asus before making the purchase to make sure the blu ray combo drive would burn dvds and i was assured that it would. Asus created a RMA and I send them the machine and received it back 10 days later only to find the same issue. I called and got another RMA and sent it to a different location and received a machine 10 days later that would burn dvd's.

Then I found out about the sandy bridge recall. I opted for the advanced replacement so I could keep my machine while they sent me a new one but the new machine I received would not burn dvd's. So now I have another RMA and hopefully they get the issue fixed on their first try this time.

While I had a fully functional machine I absolutely loved it. It is blazing fast and whisper quiet. My brother has the previous years version of the Asus ROG and it sounds like it is going to exploded while playing W.O.W. Everytime I have spoken with Asus customer support it has been a pleasant experience and the turn around on the repairs has been quick. Its an awesome machine but a frustrating experience.

Best Deals for ASUS G73SW-A1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop (Black)

First off, I ordered this from Amazon on April 6 and received the redesigned version. From the recent reviews, I can see that others ordering it around the same time were still getting bad models. This one came from Arizona. Once the nervousness of getting a bad model was gone, I could go to work.

First thing I did was a clean re-install of Windows 7. I used the guide at notebookreview.com (Google search "clean windows 7 asus", it will be the first result). Since the G73SW-A1 does not come with a Recovery disc, I had to acquire a (legal) Windows 7 Home Premium install disc. (Note: when activating a retail copy of Windows 7 with the OEM product key, Windows will make you activate it by phone, which is automated and takes 5 minutes) As long as it's the same machine and Windows 7 Home Premium, you can activate it with the OEM key infinite times.

The -A1 comes with 2 500GB hard drives. The first HDD is split into 3 partitions (hidden restore, Windows drive, spare) and the second HDD is split into 2 empty partitions. When I did the clean install, I wiped all drives and erased all partitions, leaving C and D drives. With Windows 7 and Drivers/Software discs in hand, a restore partition is unnecessary. Someday I will clone the C drive and replace it with an SSD.

Overall early impressions:

Pros:

-Very fast: 100% loaded in about 30 seconds from power-on

-Nice build quality: good screen hinge, rubbery wrist-rests feel good. Fingerprints not really an issue. I still get a kick out of the stealth fighter styling.

-Very bright LED backlight and clear screen (though it's a glare-type).

-It remains quite cool at the bottom (my old Inspiron 9300 was a scorcher)

-Nice keyboard backlight

-Good quality backpack and mouse

Cons:

-Keyboard design: space bar does not work if tapped at the very bottom. It works OK if I hit it harder or centered. The arrow keys are too small and crammed between the number pad and Ctrl and Shift keys, so it's hard to find them just by touch.

-FN keys my old Inspiron 9300 had buttons for Mute, Volume Up/Down, Play/Pause, Previous, Next and Stop all on the front of the laptop. On this one, they're all integrated onto the keyboard, using the FN button. (just a minor nuisance, really) Also, the Play/Pause/Stop/Previous/Next buttons are pretty much useless as they only work with Windows Media Center. (If you disable WMC, the buttons default to Windows Media Player) Again, the Inspiron 9300 buttons worked with whatever media player was on at the time.

There's also this weird glitch with the desktop icons. I like to have a clean desktop (no icons). If you disable them in Display Properties, the icons reappear after a reboot. It turns out Power4Gear (ASUS's power management software) is the culprit. Go into its advanced settings and tell it to hide desktop icons for all power settings.

Overall, I'm very happy with this machine. No BSODs or system errors of any kind so far. The NVIDIA video card seems to be doing a very good job. All of the drivers on the machine and on the DVD are current, so I only had to update Windows 7. The keyboard will take some getting used to, that's all.

Honest reviews on ASUS G73SW-A1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop (Black)

I owned the previous model and the good thing is this came out during exchange period. i got this from a regular store and not amazon.

Clarification on specs: the hard drive is a hybrid drive meaning it has large cache and 4 gigabyte ssd built in. This should make it faster like an ssd. I haven't tested this yet so I cant say if it makes a difference.

First impressions:

pros: the build quality is superb!!! its is so solid with no give. the screen doesn't rock back and forth like many other 17 inch computers. It is cool and runs so smooth with minimal noise. The drive is still a bit noisy when it spins.

the built in video chip( within the processor) should improve battery life) not that this is an issue with a desktop replacement)

cons

-volume cant be raised or lowered by pressing 1 key. You have to press fn+ another key. annoying but not major.

Vidoe camera not impressive at all. may 1 year old macbook pro isight is much much better.

the finish feels great in your hands and doesn't attract fingerprints however i feel like it will collect stubborn dust over time unlike a metal finish.

overall this a great laptop very fast and responsive with minor issues but hey nothing is perfect!

Important update:

someone kindly posted in the discussion this link which i find concerning. there seems to be a flaw in the design of sandybridge chipset. I have not experienced any issues yet but i am considering sending it back. again actual laptop design is flawless but this seems like a serious issue with the intel chipset.

I've used computers for work and pleasure since 1989. I've owned four desktops. This Asus is my second notebook/laptop. My first is a Dell XPS M1710 which I still have and have been extremely happy with it. I don't game but use these laptops for photos, video editing and daily internet time.

The Asus arrived two business days with free shipping after Amazon confirmed it was shipped. The packing box was a little flimsy but the Asus factory packaging is superbly constructed to protect the product. Included in the box also was an Asus Drivers and Utility disk, warranty card, Asus Express Gate and Inspiring Innovation Persistent Perfection manuals. Backpack, mouse and a tiny cleaning cloth were included also. I think the size of this laptop is great as it will replace my desktop. Many reviews mentioned the enormous size and weight. Didn't you read all the specifications before you committed? This machine is only slightly wider than my Dell XPS but more streamlined in design. It's about the same width or possibly less than a desktop keyboard. I wanted the HD resolution and big screen for the videos. My Dell XPS ran hot. This Asus is cool and you can have it on your lap.

Many consumers were concerned about the sandy bridge problem. On the outside of the box was attached a sticker saying "new revision, certified design" as well as a small label on the laptop in the lower right corner with the same wording. I also logged on Asus' website to check the serial number to confirm the processor is the newest version.

The G73sw is also extremely well built on the exterior around all its seams of quality materials, not cheap plastic you'll find on other brands. The surface around the touchpad where your fingers and palms may touch does not leave smudges or stains but can get a surface scratch with sharp nails.

The upper cover of the screen is tight and securely attached to the lower portion. The screen's resolution, clarity and brightness is the best I've seen anywhere on a computer. Letters are not wooly in appearance. Some screens seem yellowish or bluish in use. Not this one. It's white where white should be f.ex. on a word processing page or webpage.

The keyboard is soft touch with a slight sound, almost silent when you type. It doesn't have that awful clicking sound found on desktop keyboards or cheaply assembled budget notebooks. The keyboard has a numerical section arranged differently from desktop keyboards. The directional arrows are placed differently so you need an extra fraction or two of a second to look before you press your selection. A few days and you're ok with that. The keyboard as you know is illuminated in fluorescent white with Fn+F3/F4 to adjust brightness as well as other Fn functions. I thought I could choose a color f.ex. red or blue besides white. Maybe it's possible and I haven't found out how as yet.

The two Seagate 500GB harddrives are fast. Just not as fast as the Western Digital 500GB in my Dell XPS. The Seagate hds are almost completely silent. If you listen to music or other background sound you don't know they're spinning. Almost like a hybrid car stopped at a red light.

I ran a clean installation of Windows 7 Professional from startup wiping the bloatware as many users have recommended here and on other forums. It has been extremely helpful reading reviews and suggestions from owners earlier this year. Thanks for your feedback. Be sure to use the driver and utility disk enclosed to return your machine to proper functionality if you do a clean windows installation. You will install approximately 14-16 drivers from that disk and avoid the junkware. Notebookreview dot com has excellent instructive pages to guide you through the process.

Other reviewers have written about other technical aspects of this machine so I won't at this time. With the past 3 days usage of mine I think I as well as other consumers will be happy with their purchase. Windows Experience Index was 5.9. I highly recommend buying from Amazon. If time allows I will write an update in 3-4 weeks when all my applications have been installed and used as I require.

BTW, I must have used over one hour writing this review and I fully enjoyed using the keyboard. Furthermore, I am not associated with Amazon or Asus nor have I an economic interest in this writing should someone think that. I am an end user, no more.

UPDATE 15 August 2011

Its been about six weeks since I've owned this notebook. My experience has been very favorable as I described above. I have one disappointment and some suggestions to Asus should they read my updated comments.

POSITIVES: Many. Fast, quiet machine with superb 5 star graphics as I mentioned in my review above.

A hugh pleasure using this machine.

OBSERVATIONS: These are minor points of my personal preferences or desires. What other owners experience can be different. Hopefully some will agree.

1. The keyboard is illuminated. The touch pad area left and right buttons should be illuminated also.

2. It would have been nice to choose one or two other illuminating colors for the keyboard.

3. The Asus embossed ROG on the cover would have been nice with illumination.

4. The keys on the upper row Esc, F1-12, Delete, Home, Pgup, Pgdn and End I would have liked 1/4 larger in size. For masculine fingers the buttons are small.

5. From mid-June until now the price has fallen as well as Asus has increased the rebate $50 to $150 this month.

DISAPPOINTMENT: The notebook is supposed to have blu-ray combo drive but the blu-ray discs I own or loaned from Netflix will not play on my machine. I haven't installed a 3rd party dvd software since many reviews have claimed these applications are problematic. I would have liked an Asus driver so the blu-ray discs were readable out of the box. Maybe someone here has a solution.

Alright, So i have been working on laptops for a long time and this one really makes me gripe. I will say the good. Its 4 gigs of ram which most people wont use more than that. The screen resolution is absolutely stellar and with some slight tweaks with color management, it looks incredible. Battery life is fair. The dual core wouldn't fit my needs but for someone just browsing Facebook and doing word processing, you don't need much more than a dual core.

Lets move onto the bad. First thing is the SATA restricter. What that means is your hard drive is going to be slowed down. Not by 5% but we are talking 89%. A standard drive should be able to cycle at 62mb/s. Its your standard speed you should be looking for when it comes to most drives. Toshiba thought it would be brilliant to throttle the thing down to 7mb/s maximum. Plugged the drive into my desktop and cycles fine. Plugged an SSD (500mb/s drive) and once again throttled to about 5mb/s (which crashed my drive). That is outragiously slow and it is a pain just to try and install programs or move a movie onto the computer.

Second issue is with Windows 8 and this laptop. I am a Microsoft employee. Dont get me wrong; I enjoy and use 8 daily.... on my tablet. But this computer does not have a touch screen which makes using Windows 8 extremely difficult. That and the fact that the standard layout that has been used for almost 20 years has been completely altered has defered most people from the operating system. If it had a touch screen i wouldnt be saying such negative things, but this laptop should come stock with Windows 7. Here is the fun part; You cant install any other operating system out of the box. Took me a while to figure this out but you have to go into the BIOS (mash f12 when you power on the computer and hit like computer management or something like that). Then first you have to disable the Secure Boot option. This makes you able to boot into a DVD or other drive. But then you have to go into your SATA options and change the drive readout from UFEI to CSM. This makes you able to boot into non UFEI operating systems and drives (Which is just about EVERY operating system to date).

In total, after I installed 7, it did what it needed to. Had a hell of a time finding drivers but google "875D Driver for Windows 7 blogspot" and it is the second link down. I will also leave a link at the bottom for you. I am still trying to figure out how to disable the hard drive speed cap but once i disable that, this laptop would be perfect. No other complaints and especially for the price. Wish it came with a quad core also but it does leave an extra slot open so you can buy a 4 gig memory stick (like $29) and stick it in for 8 gigs. Glad to see it was 1 4gig instead of 2 2gigs. Made me happy with that, When i figure out about the Hard drive issues, i will post them.

Cheers!!!

Windows 7 drivers for this computer: (I used AMD display 8.942, realtek Wireless LAN 2.00, Realtek Eithernet 7.48 and that got everything up and running i saw. Should be the same for yours)

I've had this laptop about 3 months now and so far it has been trouble free. It's a nice size; not too heavy, but large enough to have a comfortable keyboard. Love the touchpad and the streaming video and sound are really good if the source is a good one. I would much rather have Windows 7 than Windows 8, but it isn't available any longer on a new computer. I hope this one is as long-lived as the last Dell we purchased

The Laptop is very fast and good. But there are some problems regarding the need of a solid state Hard Drive and the cover that is made of plastic. But the PC is incredible and with an excellent and the Computer Geek has good offers.

it is fast, really. nice screen. but the keyboard space bar require you to hit it in theexact middle and EXTRA hard for the space key to work. so get it repair under warranty? this is when you find out there is only one option to pack it up and send it into toshiba for service. no local authorized repair centers available. will notlet you payfor thepart, repalce and return defective keyboard for credit. so i have to remove all my data to send itin andthen will have toreinstall. along with thefactthatiam out ofthelaptop for a couple of weeks.

by the way. i tested another of the same model on display at bestbuy and the same crappy space key problem so not sure sendingit in for repairwill improve anything. it mightjust be abad keyboard design.

notice had badthe typing on itis?

*****UPDATE********

I sent it back to Toshiba for repair. The turn around was faster than I expected, 1 week. The repair did fix the issues with the spacebar on the laptop. Shame on Toshiba though, the laptop came back with a new keyboard but is was no completely installed and just flopping around when I received it back. Not a big deal for me and I had is properly installed in about 5 minutes. I am very pleased to have my laptop keyboard functioning and greatly increasing the value of my laptop. I am changing my rating from 2 to 4 stars.

I love this laptop. It's a nice desktop replacement. The battery life leaves much to be desired but I have it plugged up most of the time. Thanks. Couldn't beat the price either.

Honest reviews on Toshiba Satellite P875-S7102 Core i7-3630QM 2.4GHz 8GB 750GB DVD±RW

Got this laptop for around 500 new. Loving it, gobs of power, room to expand. If you want it to be ninja, get a SSD drive as the main and use the built in drive to hold your "stuff" I added 16 gb of ram, a 120gb SSD hdd, and a bluetooth dongle. Great machine, the screen is gorgeous and huge

Cons:

great huge screen.

Very powerful

backlit keyboard

expansion room for 2nd hdd and another 24gb of ram

good speakers

Cons:

Heavy... Like really heavy.. if you want portability, this is not the machine you want. look at a Lenovo 14", they are great portable powerhouses (priced to match)

The graphics card will not do the latest games at high levels, but i can play any steam game (Left 4 Dead 1/2, Portal 1/2 etc at full tilt and it rocks)

Battery life

Keyboard and trackpad are obnoxious at first they do get better with time. (i really recommend a nice optical wired mouse. The touch pad is in an odd location making typing difficult, you plug in a mouse and it auto turns off and you can type much better,

the dvd drive is cheesy feeling

Love this laptop, lots of cool and handy features, such as sleep & charge and sleep & music and runs all my programs fast and to a high quality.

The screen and sound quality is also amazing, I have yet to need to use the sound output above 50%, just to show how loud the sound can go!

One issue I have had so far is that during a relatively low graphically demanding game I get a black rectangle on the floor and I have yet to find a solution to correct this issue. If it wasn't for that problem (And the fact Windows is still not to the same level as Windows 7 in my opinion) I would probably have given the laptop a five star rating.

I am a super-geek. I want a laptop with a big screen, big memory capacity and the ability to have 2 hard drives. The memory capacity of this laptop is 32GB which is really nice! Also, you can have 2 hard drives in this baby! I think the memory on the video is 2GB? I'm sold. The only question left is how easy it it to install Windows 7/8 and have the drivers ready to go without hassle. Also It is very important how easy it is to upgrade the hardware on this model (increase memory, change hard drives). I'm still researching but if the answer to the questions I have are "Yes, the drivers are easy to install and Yes, the hardware is easy to upgrade them i'm going to get 2 of these....*Update: (1 hour later) I downloaded the User Guide for this model to find out more about the 2nd Hard drive installation and it was no help AT ALL. I called Toshiba and the guy on the phone told me that I would have to take the Laptop to a dealer/repair shop to install the 2nd hard drive. I told him that I am a tech and that it should not be that hard to add a 2nd drive. Also, my decision to purchase this laptop is based on how easy it is to upgrade... He gave me this site link: [link removed by Amazon? search for Qosmio Hard Drive upgrade] and WOW! This laptop has now become a dream come true! The images show you how easy this laptop is to upgrade (if you already know how to upgrade laptops) I am supersold on this and will buy two of them when they become available. I won't be able to report on how easy the drivers are to install until I get them. *Update: June 6, 2013: I got the Qosmio 875-Q7190 and it is still me dream laptop BUT #1 CD/DVD Discs don't cost much these days When I spend this much on something I want EVERYTHING that comes with it, especially all of the software. I shouldn't have to read a manual or search the internet to find out that I need to make my own discs from the laptop; and "restore" discs at that! Shame on any company that won't spend $1 or $2 to make sure their PC/laptop is shipped with all the discs. # 2 the power connection to this laptop is not sturdy there should be a latch or something I am a tech and I have worked on some Toshiba laptops and I was not impressed by how flimsy the power cable connects to the units I will send a note to toshiba about this this laptop is NOT Far from perfection. #3 There is NO HARD DRIVE LED on the unit.. can you believe this ?! I wonder who made that decision? Hard drive leds hve been a standard since 1985, and that fact that it is missing on this unit is NOT an improvement. #4 and the worst part: Windows 8 was pre-installed I had no choice Well guess what? There is no flexibility here for me, Windows 8 is just a re-masked, more cumbersome version of Windows 7. Also I CAN'T USE THIS COPY OF WINDOWS 8 ON ANY OTHER PC EVER. So I purchased Windows 8, but I got the "OEM" version so I can't delete it from this laptop and use it somewhere else. BUT...If I purchased Windows 8 in a store i could do that. Do I feel cheated?.. Ya Think? Also, no Windows 8 serial.. If I upgrade to Windows 8 Pro do I have to call someone to get it? Hmmmm...I still love this hardware but I hate it when companies do things on the cheap Sorry Toshiba, but not including the software discs makes you cheap. Lack of the HD LED is a design mistake. If Toshiba had done any market testing with this design I think that everyone who gave a review would write "Where is the Hard drive light?" Love ya Toshiba but you still have some work to do. This product is so close to perfection....

This laptop is a awesome stock.. made a few upgrades. 32GB DDR3 1600 OC'd Cosair Vengence RAM.. (yes this board & CPU support it.) reinstalled Windows 8 to a SSD and upgraded to a TB second bay. Overclocked the GPU with MSI after burner to 720/1700 mhz on memory clock. plays BF3 & RE6 on ultra . Adding a RAM disk of 3GB speeded up multitasking and unzipping when you move your TMP and TEMP folders on it. Also do a tear down and apply some MX-4 thermal compound cuz this thing gets hot!(which does fix it) Overall a good board and solid quality, couldn't be happier.

Honest reviews on Toshiba Qosmio X875-Q7190 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black Widow Styling in

I'd like to start off this review by saying that I previously have only owned Dell laptops of off the shelf quality (no gaming specs). This is the first gaming laptop I have purchased, and so far it has met or exceeded my expectations, for a laptop. Games run well on it, even at full configs, and the graphics are nice, overall just a good experience. My only two minor issues with it are Windows 8 and that it runs hot when you play a demanding game. Windows 8, definitely seems designed for touch pads and I do not know why they didn't redesign a version for a "normal" pc (non-touch). But that's not the product's fault, that's on MS. The issue with running hot is really not a big deal, it is just because of the fan's exhaust being pointed out to where your right hand would be holding a mouse, it can get warm. I was able to mitigate this greatly by purchasing one of those laptop fan desk things.

So my recommendations for this are experiement with Windows 8, or reformat to an older OS and purchase an external fan for the laptop. All in all, I would recommend this laptop to someone on a lower budget that maybe cannot afford a high end model.

I've had two or three HP laptops in the past which I loved but they ran very hot. So far this Toshiba runs cool and fast. The only things I don't really care for are the textured aluminum case.... it seems to collect dust and crumbs, etc, more easily than a smooth aluminum case .... and its weight. It seems heavier than my last HP which was the same size. This is not a convenient laptop for traveling, although I do take it with me, but it is heavy and bulky to carry around. It is a great laptop replacement! The other problems I'm having are Windows 8 related. Windows 8 is really designed for touch-pad computers...I wish I had known that . I may have looked into getting a touch-pad laptop instead.

Bought one from HP for more cost, gave to my son. I liked it (got to play with it before giving it to him), and he likes it. Decided to get one for me to replace an older Toshiba (i7-740), which was very good 2 years ago. A gift card from my brother and wife brought the price down to "even better".

Pros: The i7-2670 is definitely faster, and the 4+ hour battery life improved on the Toshi's 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Get the 9-cell battery for an extra half to one hour over the standard 6-cell. The Toshi had a 12-cell, but the newer 2nd Gen Intel processor's technology is much more battery efficient, yet still has a noticeable improvement in processing power. Much less heat than the Toshi. My HP had a couple of items just one step down from what was on my son's, but otherwise identical. I like this dv6tqe very much, running Win7Ultimate, Cyberlink DVD Ultra 11, Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Norton 360. The 8 Gb DDR3 1333 RAM does a good job allowing multiple windows. USB 3.0 ports with external 3.0 hard drive transfers data up to 4 times faster than 2.0 in my real-world Norton backups, broadband, and photo transfers. Fairly easily set up, the fingerprint reader is a convenient extra layer of security.

Cons: The Beats Audio is a joke, the Toshi's Harmon-Kardons are MUCH better. Still, sound is ok for a knockaround laptop, just not very good for music. My son's has a 1080p screen, significantly better than my nice 720p. The 1366x728 (720p) is better than standard, but not as good as 1080. My son's has the 7200 rpm hard drive, mine has the 5400 rpm, so his response time is slightly better. I hear a clicking when it runs, indicating the head is moving, a very minor irritation. Windows Performance Rating is the same at 5.9, caused by the hard drive being the weakest link. But SSDs aren't yet reliable, large, cost effective, or durable enough for my needs, fast as they are. The dark umber shell and wrist "pad" show fingerprints (skin oils). The DVD/BD tray is still hard to open: the button has to be really depressed to make it work. The touch pad can be (seems to vary) VERY sensitive, so I use an external mouse. HP's Support Assistant took getting used to, not fully logical, but has some good information. Like Windows' problem help, all but useless. Bloatware was easy to remove.

As a result, I gave it 4 stars. It's a very good laptop (not for music lovers, middlin' for gamers) for everyday, general power use. Again, I like it for my uses. I've worked with computers since 1983 (a Tandy), and DOS through Windows 7(SP1). Desktops (currently a Dell Studio XPS 435mt with i7-920 and 12 Gb DDR3 1333 RAM) and laptops. Consider myself an advanced novice (maybe just barely intermediate), not a tech, but help many other folks who want computers but have no interest in tech. Amazon's price was right (especially with the gift card), but in order to get a more acceptable (buyer statistics) price, this particular setup skimps a bit on the components. Again, does well for everyday with a touch of power, cost versus benefit.

I love this laptop. Only issue I have and it was my fault for not reading more carefully is that it is larger than I thought. I should probably have gotten the slightly smaller model since I travel internationally a lot and have to lug it around along with its huge power supply. That being said, on the positive side, the screen is excellent.

I am a doctor in a busy practice. I own a Fujitsu lifebook T4220 for close to 5 years. The tablet gets used > 8 hours a day over that period. I have been very satisfied with it's durability and performance. I have been looking for a tablet with a pen digitizer and a larger screen but the 13.3" is the biggest they make theses days.

I believe the Fujitsus in my office have been surprisingly free of mechanical defects.

We use the tablet to sign off on documents , prescriptions etc., and they have worked quite well.

I would suggest getting a long term service contract (2-3 year upon purchasing the unit however given the fact it is costly to service.

Just what I needed to sign documents. Runs Windows 7 Ultimate. The screen rotation is a bit funky only in one view, but found a Youtube video on how to overcompensate for that. Other than that, this is a great laptop with a 'Real' pen for everything including taking notes, drawing, signing. Not that Capacitive Stylus crayon(y) looking stuff

Got this to replace my problematic Alienware M15x. It had the best specs for the price and I'm extremely satisfied by it. I don't feel like a bought a cheap product. The style of it is decent enough not really fancy or cheap though pretty much all plastic. Performance matches what it should and runs any current game perfectly fine (BF3, Guild wars 2, Skyrim, Call of duty)

Speakers seem to be very loud, probably louder than my alienware was.

Keyboard is a hit or miss, It is smaller because of the added number pad which some people might love and some might not like. I get mixed up hitting things by the number pad on accident but I have to say overall after getting used to it the number pad is great to have. Trackpad seems to work fine, I don't use it much though

Screen is the 1366x768 res which I was fine with, I mean I would prefer the higher resolution but I haven't come accross any time where I miss the pixels really, I would rather use the money towards something else like an SSD.

Software wise there really wasn't much crapware at all thankfully, most of lenovo's software seems to be useful and not interfering.

Battery life seems like to be around 3 hours which isn't to off for a gaming laptop, optimus helps keep it cool too. Weighs a bit over 5lbs and its really not that bad, its comfortable on my lap during normal surfing.

The device never really seems to feel to hot, the vent area is right above the WASD keys which you can feel a bit but not much. According to HWmonitor my temps have reached 90C though when I was playing guild wars 2, though I didn't notice and it didn't slow though it does seem a bit hot, it idles in the high 40's though which is cool enough.

Don't regret getting it one bit though, i've had no real issues at all.

So, i just got this about 2 days ago, and so far, all is looking well! I'm gonna try to go in-depth for those of on on the fence.

Windows 8: Was my biggest concern because of the new interface

A really neat guide to Windows 8 --->

Actually really cool. Main thing most people worry about is the new interface and no desktop menu. But I found out that it does indeed have a desktop menu that looks just like Windows Vista/XP/7. It's actually an "app?" on the start menu that opens up a desktop that resembles the interface we all know and love. The taskbar is there, you can still create app shortcuts, there's a recycling bin, everything except the start menu, which you switch to by moving the mouse into the lower left corner and clicking. So, basically, it's still the same desktop from Vista/XP/7 with a start menu that has its own page. And if you put the mouse into the upper or lower right hand corner, it has your system settings, system search bar (formerly the "Run as" search box), devices, etc. Everything is nice and smooth. Actually really good, better than I expected.

Normal Day use: Great all around, could be a replacement desktop

Not much to say, it delivers what you need and more. You'll be set for a while.

Battery: Not great

It is a gaming laptop after all, so battery isn't so reliable. Great if it's gonna be used around your house. Don't expect it to be too portable.

Exterior: Good

Like how it looks and feels. Touchpad is nice and responsive. Not really any complaints.

Gaming: The fun yet tragic part of this laptop

Ok, read the WHOLE thing. There's a good and bad part. So the bad part of this laptop is the super spectacular GeForce GTX 660M graphics card. Well, it's a hit or miss really. Some people have had it work out really well, can run ALL the new games too. Unfortunately, many people like me have a glitch in the Nvidia card where it causes artifacts or distortion of the games, ANY game, lags them up, freezes them, crashes them, etc. It's a hardware problem, so there's no current fix for it. Just about everyone is getting a replacement, and most replacements work the first time. Now the good part! It comes with a Intel HD 4000 graphics card as well, which is supposed to be for the regular use stuff, BUT it's actually really good, at least for me. I can play Borderlands 2 with textures and graphics on high and everything else turned down PERFECTLY! No lag, freezes, etc whatsoever. And even better, I can play Far Cry 3 with all setting turned down except for water reflection PERFECTLY! I emphasize PERFECTLY because its delivering far better than it's supposed to, since it's considered crap, at least by Nvidia. So, even the lowly Intel graphics card can pack a punch in this machine. No doubt the turbo boosted quad-core CPU and 6 GB RAM help tremendously. I did order a replacement to see if I can get it fixed, but, to be honest, I don't really need it. I got this to play current and old games I couldn't before, so I'm set. I'm willing to bet the Intel can go a little farther too before becoming obsolete. So, if you're only expecting to play a few current generation games, you can't go wrong.

Verdict: 4/5

This is one super charged beast that can put some desktops to shame! It's gaming abilities is second to none (if you can get it to work, that is) and completely destroys the restrictions put in place by it being a laptop. It's quad cores and turbo boosted GPU will no doubt deliver years of powerful performance, and it's RAM (boostable to 16, not 8) will make sure that you are able to play any game you want, no matter how much of a RAM hog it is (*ahem Minecraft). But the hit or miss performance of the Nvidia card has you basically flipping a coin on if it is a lemon or a rocket. Even still though, I am thoroughly impressed with it's performance!

Edit 1/11/13

Alright, so I managed to fix the graphical problem with the Nvidia crad by underclocking it's memory clock. Everything runs great now, and I'm proud to say gaming doubts aren't a problem anymore. But, it runs hot. REALLY hot. After playing Far Cry 3 for about 25 minutes, the game started to lag a little and I noticed that the heat coming from the exhaust thing was hotter than I ever felt while using the Intel card. So, a cooling pad is a must if you plan on gaming. It's weird though, because it wasn't that hot after I played Battlefield Bad Company 2 for about an hour. So, bewarned about its heat.

It's the best for that price, great performance , great display, keyboard, it's too good for gaming, every game on ultra graphics with good fps, except Max Payne) no problem is heating while gaming, but not in winter, without cooler it will be 'k, but in summer u should buy good cooling pad. In one word, amazing laptop.

oh, yeah, one problem for me windows 8, it's amazingly bad , I hate it) and I installed windows 7

Honest reviews on Lenovo Y580 15.6-Inch Laptop (Dawn Grey)

Overall, the inclusion of the 2012 gaming competent GeForce gtX-660M makes this one of the cheapest laptops ever that can actually play current games, I'm pretty sure. For that reason it seems a very competitive product and an actual move FORWARD in an industry that seems to largely want to stay stagnant (in terms of function at price). Progress here is defined by superior build quality over prior generation, a few extras, and blazing fast internals at a great price.

For reference, I owned the previous generation y570, and let me assure you that was not such a great deal. While mostly competent and just a little more money, the build was plastic, a bit flimsy on the center of the lid, a bit flimsy on the center of the hand-rests, the keyboard which SEEMED great (well laid out and very good feel) turned ridiculous hijack failure device in fairly short order, and the mouse also was fairly wonky. Nothing like typing or navigating a mouse and having something completely distorted appear onscreen. Next, the LCD went bad and was replaced. This kept the system running wonkily for a few more months. Then the whole thing died completely flatline with a motherboard power issue within 18mos of MANUFACTURE, and less from my purchase.

So why would I get another Lenovo Ideapad? Well for starters lets say so far I'm tentatively glad I did. But short answer, I bought the extended protection (drops in the toilet included) on sale. So I hedged my bet. But the 580 has delivered with a stiffer metal lid (unlike a previous reviewer), a like metal handrest, and a BACKLIT keyboard, which I like in style somewhat less than y570 but in typing seems comparable. I would take the backlit model over prior just for backlit function. It also offers faster USB and the sweet intel chip which is equivalent to a i7-2920XM of prev gen.

The graphics have proven excellent in my limited use so far in Street Fighter. I definitely feel like I have a gaming laptop after scoring 130+FPS in benchmark of SFxT. Also, this PC has Optimus switchable graphics feature. I can't TELL it has optimus too easily but apparently it works. From NVidia control panel I changed SFxT to use integrated, and low and behold the framerate dropped 75%. However, it did NOT work just right clicking the .exe and selecting "use integrated graphics" as I would ideally prefer.. why the F is it an option then?? I mean right there I thought optiumus had failed as usual. But it can be accurately accessed with patience and massively reduced framerates show that the grass is in fact greener on the other easily accessed side :D

So why just a 4 star? Welll I feel like my prior horrible experience and now fundamental doubt are a factor. Other points are a bad touchpad. A significant downgrade to the prev gen (when it worked right): it had excellent tactility, nice texture, and BUTTONS. Not everything has to be an Apple clone. I also don't like the tuning of the touchpad especially for pinch to zoom, and it is just not great for text selection and scrolling. Like a wild stallion. Try to highlight by left-clicking, all the sudden after dragging, you've only just right clicked and NOT highlighted. It's like bad voice-recognition: you really have to try. Also, during an install of SFxT, I suffered a horrible "fatal error" crash which made me un-install and re-install Windows Live Gaming. Ridiculous, and had me quite convinced I had another lemon, plus wasted hours diagnosing it. I fear some software related issues for sure. Finally, the battery is just small in size, and isn't extremely impressive in duration (but fine). Finally, the WiFi seems very slow to detect. Not unbearable, but definitely 30 seconds or so at times (and other times instant). So just another thing for me to watch.

A few questionable aspects and general uncertainty lingering from previous woes keep this from 5 star, but the 4 stars are most important: The fact that I can't find more to bring it to the 1 star level where the bar is from the previous attempt is a start. The excellent GPU is a major defining asset. The core i7 is a monster, the speakers/keyboard/build quality are good, and the few bad points still would cause me to make the same decision when mixed with the positives.

Lenovo, throw in your ThinkPad mouse and up the price $15. No one will lose on that deal. The laptop unbranded looks like a Samsung. Lenovo shouldn't be scared of their more industrial design.

If I can tune the mouse or they release update, if the wifi sorts itself out, and if the gaming remains strong I will change to 5* in a few months.

I sold my desktop because i moved to a apartment that had little to no room for a desktop so i needed to get myself a laptop. I wanted to get a laptop with enough power to play games and to make games for the iphone and andriod phones. Did lots of research and this was in my price range. Other laptops with this specs where easily 1300 plus in price. I have not had any issues yet (had the laptop for two months now.) play WOW Planetside 2 and a few other games and it works flawlessly. i would recommend this laptop to anyone that needs a laptop for games in this price range

The first thing I noticed after setting up this laptop is its weight. At a whopping 7.5 pounds, you really notice its weight when it's sitting on your lap. I wasn't sure I was ever going to get used to it, but it seems better now. I should say that I had recently returned an HP DV7-6199 laptop because of a hardware issue, so I'm in a position of comparing the two, since their prices are comparable. The DV7 that I ordered had an i7 quad core. This has an i5 dual core. On Novabench's benchmark test, the CPU on the Toshiba still scored in the low "high-end" range. So it's plenty fast for most applications. I don't do any gaming, so I can't comment on how it performs on those tasks. Both video cards scored the same. This machine only has 6Gb of RAM while the HP had 8 Gb. I think the main differences are going to come down to features.

The Toshiba has a back-lit keyboard. This is nice at night when you are typing in a dark room. The HP keyboard is hard to see unless the room is brightly lit. The Toshiba also has amazing sound for a laptop. I thought it was even better than what I was getting through my headphones. I also like the fact that you can easily turn off the touchpad on the Toshiba. I was having the "cursor jumping around" problem on the HP, which might be related to the touchpad. The function button features can be changed via an on-screen display and your mouse/touchpad. That's a real nice feature. But there are also shortcut keys for sound +/-, wireless, etc. too. I'd also have to give a slight nod to the Toshiba on graphics. Crisp and clear and bright. The only thing that I wish was that it would have a greater range for dimming. It doesn't get as dim as I'd like, especially at night. This only has a standard DVD drive while the HP has a blu-ray player. It's not a feature I would use, so it's not a big deal to me.

The Toshiba's power supply is quite large, but the cord is pretty long. However, the power connector could come loose over time. It's OK now, but I worry about the future. It's a big multiple-prong connector that doesn't have great depth. (Take a hint from MacBook, people)

I think as far as performance, the HP scores higher, but I think the Toshiba scores higher on features.

Pros:

Great graphics

Great sound

Features: back-lit keyboard/on-screen controls/quiet keyboard

Cons:

Weight

Industrial sized power supply

Power connector may come loose over time

No blu-ray player

Could be more streamlined

Short battery life

EDIT: OK, so it's day three now. Now that I'm getting used to the Toshiba's features, I'm really starting to like it. Higher end models have 3D capabilities, although the Toshiba DVD player that comes with this model apparently has the ability to create a pseudo 3D from 2D DVD's on the fly. I haven't tried it yet, though. I barely notice the weight now. I enjoy watching Netflix from the nice screen size. The other thing I didn't like about the HP was its cold metal body. It wasn't too appealing to rest your hands on it after it had cooled off.

I was worried about buying a laptop over the internet. But to buy one with these specs at such a great price it was a no brainer. Yes, you can find it elsewhere for about the same price, but the key difference for me was that not only was I buying a great product to start with, but also having the peace of mind of doing it through Amazon. On top of that to have a laptop with a Nvidia GTX560 in it is already pretty amazing. Im a huge gamer and this beast of acomputer has handled eveything Ive thrown at it. I am very pleased with it so far. The only thing I didnt like was that it only came with 6 Gbs of RAM when the norm is 8 Gbs for gaming. No big deal though cause if you purchase this register it and write a review for it for them they give you a 10% cupon code for use on their website. I used that to purchase a 4Gbs stick for it. Besides that, this thing is amazing. If you looking for a new gaming laptop, this one is amazing for the price.

Love this laptop. This is my first laptop and I got it as a replacement for my aging desktop... To upgrade would've required a whole new build and I figured I'd go for the mobility.

First, I love how this computer's designed. The keyboard is silky smooth to write with, and as a speed typist this comes in very handy. Also, the backlighting on the keyboard is pretty sweet, and red's one of my favorite colors.

I shopped around for a bit but decided to get this one because of the larger screen size. I'm and avid gamer and I've been Skyrim-ing it up on this thing. Ultra high everything, etc. with high fps.

I like how the ventilation is designed also, as all of the heat from the GPU during gaming shoots out of a side vent and not onto your lap at all. If you're in a recliner like I am though it can hit the arm of the chair and start to heat up that area, but a quick butt adjustment fixes this.

The GPU in this notebook is on the high end scale of mobile GPUs at the moment, and it gets hot. The ventilation is nice but I am starting to look for a good cooler that I can adjust the fans to the back left of the laptop bottom, since this is where the GPU and fan vent are.

The screen is 720p and not 1080p like some of the nicer screens on laptops in this price range, which does kinda suck. However, the wide display still looks very, very nice, and images are very crisp. One thing that does suck about the screen however is that it's hard to get an even color on the entire screen at once. For instance, if you want the perfect picture on the top of the screen and tilt it so it looks nice, the bottom will suffer as a result, and vice versa. This kind of sucks but if you're using it for awhile you don't really notice it as much.

All in all, a great laptop and I am very happy with my purchase. Especially since my Asus I ordered first arrived with a dysfunctional screen.

Honest reviews on Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7380 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop - Fusion X2

I have had MANY lap tops over the years due to type of work I do, often in extreme working environments. Even the "Tough Books" eventually succumb to the rigors. I have always considered the Toshibas slightly above mediocre overall when compared to some others not just in durability (build quality) but every other aspect. I have had far worse than Toshiba and far better. So I was a little reluctant to buy the Qosmio but it had decent reviews and the price seemed fair for a potentially "mediocre" machine with the Qosmio's capabilities.

I'm not into "gaming" and don't plan to get into it (but who knows??!!). I am into watching 3D & Blu-ray disks on my new flat screen. Streaming video and radio over the net and just general power surfing. I need to replace my aging desk top & would like the ability to take it with me once and awhile. I'm getting older (not younger) and both my eyesight and hearing are progressing accordingly so I wanted a lap top with a big bright, sharp screen and a good sound system.

I first connected my Qosmio to my 55" Flat Screen TV via HDMI, plugged in the USB transceiver for my new Gyration wireless Air Mouse and keyboard and sat on my couch surfing the net on a HUGE "video monitor" waving my mouse around in the air, clicking from link to link. This is what the internet is supposed to be!

Popped in a Blu-ray DVD and my air mouse is now my DVD remote!

As for the "Lap Top", it's a beast! I mean IT'S BIG! And bold and beautiful I might add.

Yes, the power supply looks like someone put it in the box just to see look on your face, surely this can't be for a lap top?!! But once you dive into the Qosmio it becomes clear why you need a small nuclear reactor to power this beast. And if you still think maybe it was a joke, try running on battery power and after an hour or so you'll see it was no "joke"!

If you're looking for a dainty little lap top to stow in your gear bag, this isn't it. If you're looking for a desktop replacement that will do everything your PC did and give you the ability to take it with you, this may be a good choice.

This is a lot of Lap Top for the price & it does seem a bit better built than my past Toshibas. This one will never see the rigors of my work environment since it is my new "Desk Top PC" but I think it will do well. So far I am very happy with it & although it's likely more lap top than I'll ever need, better more than less!

I had been looking at all the gaming laptops around and $1200 is fairly standard for a solid Nvidia 560 machine. The processor, though only dual core, will still be more than adequate for any game. Very few games use four cores and if you're not doing serious multitasking the dual cores will be more than enough.

I have been playing Star Wars: The Old Republic on it and it does as well as my hardcore gaming desktop with that game with all the graphics turned to max. Older games like WOW wouldn't be problematic at all. Skyrim, I understand, has an ultra high setting that will cause a low framerate on this video card.

I cannot think of any complaints. The screen is HD, anything 768i or higher is HD, this one is 1600x900. It's heavy as well, but it is big enough to make the weight worth it. This is a desktop replacement laptop. I wouldn't want to be carrying this around school, but for around the house is fine.

It is hot when running high end graphics, but not burning hot. On the bright side, in winter, it may be able to heat a small bedroom.

The keyboard is unusual, slick keys without the usual bevel. It's a good size for typing. The sound is good as well.

The battery life is better than I'd expect from this size. I watched two hours of a DVD and still had battery time to spare.

If the primary use of a laptop is to watch movies, this is not the laptop for you. If you want to be able to play any game, anywhere, this is a good buy.

It has a good look to it, very distinctive. The downside is that customizable decal covers won't work with the textured shell. I don't use those. I don't mind being stuck with the default shell look.

The keyboard can be set to light up when keys are pressed or not.

It does come with less than the usual amount of bloatware and I didn't have to remove more than a handful of programs. There are a few Norton utilities that can be slightly annoying.
