I bought this particular laptop from a different vendor (starts with W and ends with T), but overall it works great. Has more memory than I could ever need. Hasn't acted up or froze (which is a common Acer problem). Windows 8 is kind of goofy, really miss Vista, but theres a way to disable 8 and go back to Vista or 7. Intel processor super fast, use this computer to shop on amazon and run my miles (Im a truckdriver).

Gateway 15.6" Laptop 4GB 320GB | NE56R31u

When I purchased this I was looking for something with great graphics, wide keyboard, and lightweight. I must say I have all that plus a good amount of memory...

The con of this product the speakers SUCK! I have to order a portable because at the highest volume you still barely can hear, and when I am watching movies or videos I want to hear, also I love to play Sims 3 and I have to be able to enjoy my game time.

I would say this is a product I don't regret purchasing, my teenager is asking for it since day one.

My model is the 1440. It is 4 years old. I had it in for service one time because the LCD cable came disconnented inside the case. I take this laptop in and out of my bag 5 times a day, opening it and closing it. I have an industry specific software that I run 4 times a day for work that uses the sound card and graphics. The CASE has withstood it all with just a few scratches. The LCD screen enclosure is pretty rigid and protects the screen from stress. I believe I have dropped this thing twice, I time I remember it clattering accross the floor. It didn't break or break down. I have overheated it by leaving it on inside my bag a couple times and it cools down and keeps on working.

The internet networking has worked well and is fairly fast. It has been infected with malware at least twice. It has recovered well and AVG software has helped keep it going. Windows 7 has been very easy to use for a non-techie.

It came with Windows Home Premium with Media Center installed. It only has a 250 GB hard drive, but in 4 years I've only accumulated 100 GB worth of stuff.

The webcam works well. The microphones are pretty good. The speakers are pretty loud but not very deep sounding. The sound carries well. The CD ROM/DVD drive is dependably and fast. although it does drain the battery and heat things up.

The keyboard is very compact and I make typos with my clunky typing easily. I am finally upgrading to a LENOVO T530 that has a far superior keyboard and even a keyboard light. But I'm not going to compare the two machines here, as that wouldn't be fair to my old faithful friend that I'm writing this review on.

I can't think of any more negative things to say. This is a good solid sturdy internally and externally, basic computer with most features that people want or use.

Be VERY careful before you buy this so you're not frustrated, hassled and disappointed like I am. I just bought this yesterday, and had it overnighted. I was SO excited! I thought I was getting the diamond pattern shell case (that was featured in the picture they finally took down, b/c it was wrong), the Dell Inspiron N4030-223B3D. "B" for black "3D" for 3D pattern on the shell case. INSTEAD, I received another random black Dell, with a shiny shell top that gets fingerprints all over it. It just reads "Dell Inspiron N4030" on the bottom; very generic. I don't know what anything is included inside w/o turning it on. It looks cheap and basic. I don't know if it has dual core Pentium, and all of the other good things in the one I thought I was buying, or it's some discontinued Walmart special for high school kids these mom and pop computer 3rd party sellers picked up to resell. So, def sending it back. Bought it from a third party seller, not this Oliver guy, but still, Amazon fulfills these orders, so they could have sent the wrong item too, so just BUYER BEWARE overall! And Amazon, do a better job of representing the actual items in pictures you are selling. Don't buy this w/o contacting the third party seller first, unless you don't care which one they send you, I guess.

Update: I returned mine to the other 3rd party seller and sent this Oliver seller THREE emails asking if he was selling the one stated at the top of this page, so I could buy his instead. After waiting 4 days, he cannot be bothered to write me back to let me know, so, obv very shady sitch all around. I think Oliver and Sunshine should list in their personal item description what the shell case looks like that they are selling to make sure you get the right one listed here. Most likely they are selling this cheaper one from the Microsoft Store that comes in a brown cardboard box, that is only a super basic N4030 Dell Inspirion and NOT the nicer, fuller-featured N4030-223B3D. Amazon really dropped the ball on this item's sale all-around. Basically, if you email the seller before you ask to buy it to confirm it is indeed the same laptop they are advertising here, and they don't/won't email you back, then don't buy it from that seller, the way that I am not going to give this Oliver guy my business now b/c he can't be professional enough to return an email. I finally found it on ebay and just bought it there. Way to go, Amazon and 3rd party sellers! Nice customer service.

I Had To Constantly Remove The Battery Due To The Laptop Freezing Up Each Day. However, It Is A Very Good Laptop Otherwise, Fast For A 6 Year Old System. I Had To Return It Due To This Problem.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Pros:

It's cheap, cheap, cheap. Does a decent job for the price. Feels very tough and sturdy.

Cons:

It's kind of heavy and the battery life isnt going to carry you that long (roughly 2.5 hours with LinuxOS and *I think* old battery) but I leave it plugged in most of the time and have watched a 2 hour movie on the battery alone.

The R52 is getting pretty old tech in laptop terms. I don't use it for any heavy/intense gaming or anything it should last for quite a while :)

Recommendation:

Buy it if you want a simple browsing laptop or to read/watch some movies on it.Maybe as a backup to store your personal data that you need to quickly access if your main computer ever goes down. Don't expect some awesome machine though; it's a dinosaur!

PS Double check what you're getting! If it says no HD you need to get one (I bought a small flat usb drive and put Linux on it, works great) Does it come with a charger? (I have the cheap chinese charger on here and it works fine) Are there any other problems with it?

Goodluck

I purchased this directly from Lenovo as a refurbished item through their outlet website about 3 months ago. I was able to get it for a decent price and it didn't have any signs of previous use. I'm posting this here because I figure it would have a much broader audience than other places.

Build Quality:

I'm very impressed with the build quality. The keyboard is the standard apple/sony chiclet style. It's solid and the keys have a good amount of travel. It would be nice if it was back-lit, but I'm not surprised it's missing at this price point. The screen hinge is solid yet moves easily. The screen doesn't wobble when you're using and stays where you set it to. Overall the chassis is solid also. It doesn't flex or feel cheap when you need to pick it up or carry it around. The palm rest and keyboard surround have a nice finish that keeps smudges from being an annoyance. I haven't noticed any hotspots, though I don't do alot of intense gaming or video. The fan is generally quiet even when going at full blast. The exhaust is on the left side and can be kinda warm. If it's cold it can keep your hand toasty:) For the current round of i5 laptops the weight is average or less. Overall, I would say this is an extremely well built laptop. Lenovo knows how to put together a solid reliable machine.

input/output Quality (screen, speakers, touchpad, etc.):

The screen is a slight gripe, but not a deal breaker. The resolution is standard at 1366x768. The screen is bright and doesn't seem to have any major color reproduction issues as long as you're looking at it straight on. The viewing angles are kinda horrible. If you want to watch a movie with someone you have to have it far away for 2 people to fit in the sweet spot.

One thing that is actually horrible are the speakers. You have to keep the sound low if you don't want to hear any distortion. I've tried using them, but have given up. Really though it's not that big of a deal. When I'm at home, I just plug in a set of speakers. When I'm out and about I plug in headphones.

The touchpad is pretty good build wise, but the multi-touch software is hit or miss. When trying to use the 2 finger scroll when in a web browser it would half the time think i was doing a pinch to zoom.

The reason I got this particular model is that it had USB 3. I have an external harddrive that I used to transfer files over to this computer and with USB 3, it took half the time. Also an added bonus was that the HDMI port doubles as an extra USB port(giving you 4 in total). I haven't used the HDMI port yet, but when I do I'll add an update about that. Also included is an eSATA port(I'm sure this would be a peppy way to transfer files, but USB 3 works well enough).

A surprise was the built-in WiMax modem (which let you're computer be a wireless hotspot!). I didn't know about that when I ordered it, and I'm not sure if I'm going to sign up for it. It seems odd that it came with WiMax, but no bluetooth though. I think I would've preferred to have that instead.

So overall it's pretty good, but a little bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the screen.

Software & OS:

Not too long after I got this I switched over to Ubuntu. I just generally like Ubunutu because it runs light, restarts pretty quick and keeps everything simple, with out being overbearing like OS X. I still boot into Windows 7 though to get my civilization V fix though. There was a ton of stuff pre-loaded on here, but not all of it is bloatware. A lot of the official Lenovo software is security related including stuff to run the fingerprint scanner, one that asks for your password when you plug a USB drive. Battery saver which keeps you from charging the battery all the way to improve the lifespan of it. And finally a hard Drive saver which will lock the drive if you (Gawd forbid) end up dropping the computer. There is stuff to uninstall, but didn't take too much time to get rid of.

Ubuntu was a pain to setup because of the standard wifi issues that seem to always be there, but once that's taken care of it's been perfect.

Overall:

This is the Honda Accord of laptops. This laptop is an amazing deal and well worth the money. Is this a high end gaming machine? No, it's a mid-level, everyday machine. It will play Netflix with ease and run mid level games with out breaking a sweat. It's classy in a subdued way, solid, reliable and feels like I'll be holding on to this for a long time.

I bought this notebook/laptop under $500 USD as a quick tool for a short IT project. Being accustomed to high-end enterprise-class notebooks (fast, lightweight, solid build), this seemed risky, but at that price and spec, add a warranty/service plan just in case, how could one resist? (Disposable

the computer is more then i wished for

its a bit expansive as im not used to spending 1400dolars on a laptop but this one was worth it

i also aditionaly put an ssd hd inside and now its one fast road runner.

the only down side is when im on batery mode i cant play games ,they lag hard

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Okay, This was a great purchase for the price. I researched all possible competing laptops and none came close. After using this product for a month, I have concluded the following:

Pros:

1. Speed of computer is superb

2. Starcraft 2 on ULTRA settings run flawlessly

3. Can run multiple games (Counterstrike, diablo 3, and starcraft with no lag simultaneously)

Cons:

1. Hard drive could be faster 5400rpm. If you have a a little extra money then just replace the hard drive with a SSD.

2. Screen sometimes looks a little grey. But thats during daylight. At night its awesome.

So concluding, I would definitely recommend this to any wanting a high end gaming laptop for a reasonable price.

Also, at they have an older model backpack solid black, that is a ROG official backpack for 17.3 inch laptops for 49.99. Pick that up right away as its a great sale.

I have had the Asus G75V for nearly a year now. Very quick unit and very reliable. The only down side, and this is a big one, is the piece of crap touch pad that they use. It it total junk. The cursor jumps all over the place and selects things that you don't want to select. It does this even with the sensitivity turned way down. Using an external mouse is somewhat better but it is still annoying. Other than that I would highly recommend this unit.

Honest reviews on ASUS G75 17.3" i7 12GB/500GB/GTX 660M Win7 NB

I had pretty high hopes for this laptop considering the incredible reviews from multiple online retailers. The laptop is indeed very sturdy, and based on the specs seems like a really great buy. But there's a reason this laptop seems like a great deal:

1. It comes with a ridiculously large amount of bloatware. Upon initial boot you'll find dozens of useless programs.

2. It doesn't come with Office.

3. The screen resolution is poor for the price. Definitely a visible step down from G75VW-TS72 screen.

4. The touchpad has a raised bump on it. This could just be a defect with the one I received. It's just noticeable enough to be annoying.

Overall I would recommend spending a little more to get a better model.

I bought this during the Black Friday week sales so I got a really good price reduction on the machine. Even at it's current higher price it's still a pretty good deal. It features a core i5 processor, 6GB of RAM and a 640GB internal drive. I haven't had any problem running software/games including Civ 5 which runs quickly and smoothly. The wireless and Bluetooth operate well, though the machine seems reluctant to automatically reconnect to a network once it has entered sleep mode.

The laptop is sturdy and the screen is bright. The keyboard takes a little getting used to as the keys are a bit off-center and some keys that you will use a lot are half-sized (cursor keys, delete, etc.). That takes a little getting used to. The fan is quiet and keeps the laptop cool. It runs noticeably cooler than my previous Dell laptops and much cooler than the HP laptop we have.

It comes with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium and I haven't had any issues with older programs not running. Adding printers is noticeably faster and easier than it was with Vista. Office 10 trial is installed and you can run "starter" for free if you don't want to buy it. That's a nice feature if all you are going to do is basic word processing/worksheets.

The negatives for this model are fairly minor. The number and placement of ports is unusual. There are only four USB ports and two are on the back and the other two near the back, one on each side. I'd rather see over/under dual ports on the side. The other problem is the power cord falls out a lot. As in all the time. Even minor shifts in your sitting position can jar it loose.

Overall it's a very nice machine.

I got this for $785. It appears the price has gone up. It is a good computer, quite fast. I am hoping that it lasts as long as my previous Dell.

I have a few minor quibbles...none of which particularly bother me, but I can see other people not being satisfied as a result of them.

It is not as sturdy as I would like.

There is a lot of "bloatware" installed on the machine that really needs to be taken care of to achieve optimal results.

The faux metal surface where you put your hands to use the keyboard will get scratched by your watch. So if that bothers you, don't get this computer.

The battery life is not amazing. I am getting about 1.5 hours off battery.

Best Deals for Dell Inspiron i15R-2646MRB 15.6-Inch Laptop (Mars Black)

The real product name of this laptop, as shown in BIOS and in Windows System Information, is Dell N5010. For its price, this is a good laptop, but it can also piss you off if you are peculiar about things:

1. For a 15.6" screen, the resolution is low: 1366x768. Business laptops have standard 1400x900 for 14" screens. I've had one for years and that resolution was great for the screen size. The screen is glossy and will reflect light. Outdoors, it's almost impossible to see anything, unless you hunch over the screen to shade it. POOR vertical viewing angles. 20 degree off the perpendicular direction to the screen, colors begin to shift visibly: whiteout if you look at the screen from above, darkened if you look from a bit below.

2. The keyboard can be really annoying:

silly reassignment of Fn keys to perform laptop-specific functions (volume up/down, Wi-Fi on/off etc.) instead of doing those by pressing Fn+F#. Configurable from the BIOS though.

besides that, the F# keys are labeled a faint blue on black, and are barely visible in a well-lit room. The reflection of the screen on the glossy laptop finish near the hinge doesn't help. The visible labeling is for the laptop function keys (Wi-fi on/off, brightness up/down etc.). This shows how the laptop is aimed at those who don't know what F5 does.

odd placement of the PrintScreen key between Insert and Delete

narrow trackpad buttons, often annoying to hit with the thumb

the arrow keys are too thin, half the height of normal keys

after having used laptops without a numeric keypad for the past few years, the keypad is not only useless; it gets in the way. where I expect Backspace to be, there's now Keypad Minus.

there is no Break key (useful for Win+Break to get the Windows System properties, or Ctrl+Break in command line applications)

there is no context menu key (equivalent to right click on the focused control)

3. My unit had a problem with the fan, while other owners reported theirs worked fine. Maybe Dell has a quality control problem here. For no reason at all, my laptop's fan would ramp up and whir every 2-3 minutes for about 20 seconds, even if there is no spike in CPU load. This became really annoying in a quiet environment, such as a classroom or library. I had updated to the latest BIOS (A12), and the problem was still there. One possible way to "fix" this is to always have the CPU running one core at full speed, e.g. by running some CPU-intensive application like Folding@Home. This will keep the fan at a constant (albeit loud) speed.

So make sure these things don't bother you, or you'll hate the laptop. Try to get a feel for the keyboard and trackpad at a local store (Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, Fry's etc.)

Honest reviews on Dell Inspiron i15R-2646MRB 15.6-Inch Laptop (Mars Black)

overall this is a good value laptop esp considering 6 GB RAM/500 GB HDD. screen resolution is great; however battery life is only 2 hours even with dimming the screen. my other dell laptop with a 9 cell battery (albeit 14 inch screen) lasts 4 hours.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Dell Inspiron i15R-2646MRB 15.6-Inch Laptop (Mars Black)

I got this laptop to use while traveling and it does what I wanted it to do. Add to that, the graphics and you have a great deal here. I'm not a big PC gamer, but I decided to try a couple games and see how they would work on the laptop. All the games I've installed so far, have worked perfectly. I've got a couple other Dell laptops I use for everyday things and home entertainment, both cost more than this laptop. The 2 older Dell's I have have the 17" monitors and continue to work great, but it is nice to have the slightly smaller Dell to take on trips with me. I don't use it battery powered too often, but it does have a fairly short battery life. If battery life is your biggest concern, don't bother with a laptop, pick up a netbook. I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of this laptop, especially for the price paid to get it.

A couple of months ago I decided to upgrade from my toshiba satellite laptop. I was going to buy another toshiba until I came across this during my research and decided this laptop was the best bang for my buck. What do I like about it? Everything!! I love the large memory and the 320g hard drive is double of my toshiba. I don't regret jumping from toshiba brand to sony. The built in webcam and microphone are great. They work perfectly with aim, yahoo, and skype. I was easily able connect to my wireless router without reinstalling the software. The only downside is the battery. I will be ordering a large capacity battery soon. I can't wait hook up my sony hd camcorder and start editing my home videos. I would definitely recommend this laptop to friends.

Short and sweet, this laptop kicks @$$!!! For the price, you go so much included in this bad boy: Blu-ray player/burner, video with 1GB dedicated RAM, 16+ in screen, 4GB RAM upgradable to 8GB, decent sized hard drive, I mean the list goes on. Just look at the description and you see what you get. I think for 1000 dollars this computer is well worth it. One bonus, don't know for how long, but if you buy now you should get a free upgrade for Windows 7 when it is released. If you haven't already heard, it is getting great reviews. So if you don't like Vista, you can hold out for 7 when it gets released in the fall. If you are looking for a laptop, look no further than this Sony Vaio. You will love it.

I didn't get it halfway out of the box and I was already intrigued. I cut my teeth on Toshiba's 20 years ago and have always had a laptop with a pointing stick. I can use a touchpad, but I feel crippled by them. My first Netbook was an ASUS EEEPC 8.9" screen. I tried for a long time to get used to the keyboard, not happening. I sold it and bought a Toshiba Satellite T115D which is not considered a "netbook" by the industry, but by me it is. I chose it because it had a dual core processor and at the time it was the fastest little machine I could hope for. Keyboard on the Toshiba was okay, but the touchpad buttons were horrible and I just really couldn't do much well on it. I sold that one and then the X100e appeared. A not-netbook with a pointing stick? The keyboard on this little tyke is the best. No, it's the bestest! They have pedestal key feel, yet are slightly cupped, perfection. The ultranav makes this tiny notebook a dream. I can do everything on it I can with the big machines, but it slips in my backpack and goes along for the ride with ease.

I turned a few screws right after I got it.

Pre-installed Windows 7 Pro (32-blech-bit) Stupid. I put 64, upgraded to 4g ram. Screamer. I installed an internal Bluetooth daughtercard, super easy to install. I had to perform surgery to install one in my Tecra. This was take off the heat shield and press the card on it's connector and one screw... Hello PAN.

I have had this for 3 months and use it nearly everyday and always look forward to doing so. The whole look and feel of this computer is SO right. Soft matte finish of the case, no glare, no fingerprints. The screen is anti-glare. I hate LED, but thankfully this one can be turned down enough not to sear my eyes at night, unlike the Toshiba. The hard drive is a Hitachi, I was pleased to find out since the IBM/Hitachi connection. USB ports on both side, no fuss sleep n charge. Power outlet on the back thank you where it belongs. The palmrest is comfortable. Smooth edges. Even though the design is blocky, which I love... it's beautiful. The power brick is nice and small and readily available and common to many models. The battery charges very fast. Battery life is amazing. I've heard outrageous claims from many sources on many machines I've owned. In the real world, my experience with battery life seldom exceeds an hour. This one will chug along for 2 to 2 1/2 at full speed. Bless Lenovo for not using an Intel wifi card. This one I think is from Realtek and works very well. Connects quickly and once the power management was turned off works reliably. The sleep and wake works really well. Sleeps pdq, not a quick as a mac, but almost and like lightning compared to all others I've used. My first Lenovo, maybe this is common on them, but a nice touch was the ability to swap the FN and CTRL keys in the BIOS. It made my brain itch when I saw their placement and a solution was just a setting away. Praises.

My only complaints: There's no Disk activity indicator, seems to be a trend with Lenovo. It's like driving a car without a Tachometer, I like to know when the engines running. The battery location, it would make much more sense in the front because it would be a ballast for the screen. It's kinda tippy when it's perched on my lap. Oh well. I love it so much I don't mind hanging on to it tightly.

YES, it's made in China. And very well made indeed.

Nice screen, good materials, and very nice keyboard. But it crashes without warning a few times a month. Screen freezes and CPU fan spins to the max! Very common issue with this model; search the Lenovo forums!

It's cheap, has a camera & mic, DVD/CD recorder, 2 cores, a decent 320 gig hard drive, wireless, 4 gigs of ram, and the newest version of windows. Nuff said. everything works great. The only other person who rated this rated based their review on the seller. I hate when people do that. Even if the battery did fail, the manufacturer warranty guarantees it. Plus I have always big a supporter of Samsung products. Most of my electronics are Samsung.

My first laptop was a Dell. It cost me $1,500, and absolutely died in 2 years. Now all I get are these simple cutting edge entry level laptops, and I highly recommend them. Unless you are a gamer, these do absolutely everything you would ever need. The meat and potatoes of laptops.

Windows 8 is not the best option for a leptop without touch screen... Should be better anouther version of windows!

Set up was easy, but the battery failed right out of the box. I called the service desk and chatted several times with a rep, but to no avail. Nothing they recommended worked...the battery was worthless. I mailed the computer back to a Samsung authorized repair shop in Texas, because they wouldn't mail me a new battery. I hate red tape. Now I just hope the computer comes back without any flaws, but nevertheless, I have to reinstall all my third-party software all over again!

I bought this laptop in June 2011. About 1 month after receiving the laptop the screen would go black for no reason and the keyboard would phantomly type. Attributing the problems with the screen to the laptops age I made no attempt to fix it since it was still useable by adjusting the brightness. Unfortunately about 1 week ago the screen totally went black. So I took it to the apple store to get either the invertor cable or lcd screen or both replaced. In doing so apple called me back 2 days after dropping it off to tell me that someone had spilled significant amounts of liquid on the laptop and they wont touch it without sending it to their repair department for no less than $750, more than the laptop is even worth. Unfortunately the laptop totally crapped out after the date that I could get amazon to file a guaranteed A-Z claim.

So thanks for lying about selling me a damaged laptop that you obviously ruined and sold before the damage was obvious to me the sap who was totally taken by you. I advise that no one trust this crappy person and I rely on Karma to pay you back for the $500+ you stole from me.

WOW...what a great Mac. It replaces my aging G4 PowerBook. It is faster, lighter, has a larger screen, and does everything I could want. And the cost was half of a new one. Kudos to Instant Replay Electronics. Prompt delivery, great product, and good price. No one could expect more.

So this product works so well. Since this Black Macbook came out in late 2006 at a staggering price of $1600 I have wanted it and never got around to buying it up until they stopped making it. Then this year I decided to try and get a refurbished version as I already bought a refurbished Ibook G4 for my mother earlier in January 2012 which works wonderfully for her. I am so pleased I did. Although the seller I bought this from had 100% positive reviews, I was thinking I might end up being that one person who has a problem with them, especially since the shipping was not as fast as it was described by many(came day before the last day it was estimated to arrive). I am so glad I ignored all my fears and bought it. It works so so well and came with so many surprises from the seller that I wasnt expecting and feel so blessed that I received them. I mean, as a designer, who wouldnt love to buy a laptop with the entire CS5.5 Suite AND Final Cut Pro installed in? So far it hasnt been a month but the black Macbook works well. Its been upgraded to Mountain Lion OS so I am able to do my work at warp speed. It has Face Time installed although I am yet to use it. My only issue was I know the 2.4Ghz Macs have the illuminated keyboard but this one doesnt seem to do that :(. If I can figure out a way to make that happen I will be in 7th heaven. Highly recommend this refurbished product for anyone who cant afford a Mac Pro at the moment but still want to be able to achieve great things on a reasonably fast system.

Amazon merged the two models into one page and fixed most of their info, but they have the battery life listed as nine hours in one place and six hours in another; the six hour figure is correct (thanks, Philip!).

Also, the cheaper model (T115D-S1120) has a single core 1.6 GHz processor, not a dual core 1.5 GHz processor. This is currently still incorrect on one part of the page.

I have a 16 inch Toshiba dual core/4gb ram I purchased a year ago and loved it, but I wanted something mobile with a longer battery life. I love Toshiba quality and decided they can have my business again. I was looking around for a netbook but then this came out. I went with the dual core just in case I needed to photoshop and watch movies on it later. I've looked at 10.1 inch screens, and they were just so tiny and have to scroll a lot when when reading online. 11.6 inch screen is perfect, I don't notice the screen size being a problem. Screen is beautiful, watching HD shows and movies look fine and play fine.

I have had this for about week and have done mostly web browsing and haven't ran it through the ringer with memory hog programs life photoshop yet but it feels just as fast as my 16 inch dual core with 4 gb of ram. I usually get over 4.5 hours battery life on bright settings but I put it on eco mode which dims the backlight and I get 5+ hours.

I watch youtube videos with ease but speakers are not the best which doesn't matter since I use headphones on it. Hulu, Facebook, you name it all work just as fast as my laptop. Itunes works great.

One thing was common in reading netbook reviews was that you can't expect it to replace your regular laptop or desktop. I honestly think this product can, especially if your an average user who watches youtube, listen to music, web browse. I didn't see the need to upgrade Ram yet and probably won't so I don't sacrifice more battery life.

One complaint is that is does get warm when I'm using it constantly but not like it is burning my leg warm. I'm used to the track pad but prefer using a wireless mouse. I picked up another logitech wireless mouse which works perfectly. If your thinking of getting a netbook, or just a laptop that has a long battery life but don't want to sacrifice power, this is it.

I have been skeptical about purchasing a netbook instead of a traditional laptop for a computer for my wife to use around the home. Man am I glad I plucked down the extra $100.00 over other good netbooks. This thing is a powerhouse! About the only difference between this netbook and 2 year old laptop technology is the missing optical drive, on the other hand unlike many netbooks it comes loaded with Windows 7 premium instead of starter (A major problem in other netbooks). Another dynamite plus in this netbook is the included HDMI port to hook up your computer directly to a HDTV and watch Hulu, amazon on demand, netflix, or other streaming broadcasts. The laptop is as fast as any other middle of the line laptop, which makes it exceptionally fast for a netbook.

The keyboard did take me about 20 minutes to get used to, and while some review sites give the buttons a big thumbs down, they are okay after using them for a while. If I am using this netbook on a desk I am likely to hook up a wireless mouse to it.

The included battery lasted 5 1/2 hours using it for the Internet and word processing.

When I ran itunes, MS Word, Firefox, and a few other smaller programs the computer did not have any trouble with lag time. Boot time is a bit slower than I would like, but no complaints given it is a netbook. Like I said, I feel like it performs as well as any new laptop from a few years ago.

The weight is perfect to carry around the house, which my wife needs during the day with a newborn. It is very thin and very light.

I did not have any difficulty with scrolling while looking at websites I have yet to run into one that has to be scrolled horizontally.

If you are looking for a netbook, but are put off by tiny keyboards, slow response times, slightly too small screens, and can spend a little extra, this is my favorite netbook out of the many I spent time researching and playing with at Best Buy and Walmart.

Honest reviews on Toshiba Satellite T115D-S1120 LED TruBrite 11.6-Inch Laptop (Black)

I just received my S1125 a couple of days ago and I'm very pleased with it. I've looked hard at the various models in the area between a netbook and a full-sized laptop, and I think this is one of the best machines of that type. The display is gorgeous; 1366 x 768 at 11.6" is really nice and the Radeon 3200 graphics chip is excellent. I bought it along with the Toshiba external DVD drive and additional 2GB of RAM; so far both are working very well. As far as I'm concerned, this thing is the perfect size: it's small and light enough to carry it around, but it's still big enough to have a usable screen and keyboard. I've used a Dell Mini 10 netbook with an Atom N270 CPU, and although it worked, I wasn't happy with the performance.

So far I've added 2 GB of RAM (it took less than a minute; anyone can do this), resized the primary Windows partition, installed Ubuntu 9.10 in parallel (dual boot), and started playing with it. I hooked it up to my 1080p 46" HDTV via HDMI and watched an HD streaming episode of Battlestar Galactica. It looked great, and this machine had no problem keeping up with the HD stream from Amazon. I removed some of the crapware (Norton being a prime example) and installed Microsoft Security Essentials (free anti-virus from MS...it's actually pretty good. In fact, it's better than most of the alternatives; I've tried them all.) The keyboard is pretty easy to use; the touch pad works fine, but I usually use a wireless USB mouse if I'm doing much work with a laptop. I've only just started playing with the webcam, but the pictures I've taken so far are grainier than I expected. I haven't had an integrated webcam before, so maybe this is the way they usually look.

Windows 7 is actually pretty nice, though I prefer linux in general. If you're going to buy a machine with Windows 7, go for one like this with Win 7 Home Premium rather than Starter Edition. Starter is a sad, crippled version, one with which you won't be happy.

i've had the T115D-S1125 for a couple of weeks now and love it. Screen is sharp, the black case isn't as bad a finger print magnet as i thought it might be. keyboard is good to type on and hdmi out is very useful. Few minor things stop me from giving 5 stars. Battery life is around 4 hours or less when doing more intensive operations like playing video. when using hdmi out to display to a tv, video stutters a little mainly on hulu, my macbook pro is fine as a comparison. trackpad takes a bit of getting used to and i made a lot of accidental clicks till i got used to it. Overall really like the laptop 4 hours battery life is still very good, love the screen and small size, surprised how good performance of the laptop and windows 7 are together and find i use this now for my main laptop in preference to my macbook pro.

Okay, I fix computers for a living. This is a great deal, on a great laptop, by a trusted Manufacturer. I picked up one of these for my Mother in law, got my wife a different model and of course my wife likes her Mom's better!

Giving a one star rating to this laptop because you don't like Windows 8 is beyond ridiculous. It's like saying I don't like this car because of the paint. Who cares? Slap a different operating system on it. The hardware is solid. Rock solid.

I exclusively sell Lenovo. I'll fix anything, but for my money, I'm gonna pickup a couple more of these.

Pros: good overall package in affordable price, solid sturdy machine, windows 8 easy to use, fast processor, handy keyboard, good battery life, excellent surround sound system, good screen resolution.....many more!!!

Cons: so far none!

After extensive searching for a good affordable laptop, I bought this laptop from amazon. They delivered it within a day time as I requested. I was very anxious about using Windows 8 because I read soooo many bad reviews about it.......like they almost convinced me that it would be a big flop.....BUT WAIT!!! I have found Windows 8 very interesting and more attractive to work on. It took me only 15 minutes to learn how to use it.........I mean it's easy to use, just with new ideas. And I took a gamble choosing this laptop without a touch screen......but now that I am working on it, I don't think I need a touch screen laptop to use Windows 8. Also, this laptop has awesome speakers and you would enjoy them!!! Then this key board is soft enough to make you feel as if you are playing on scrabble game. The hardware also looks sturdy and reliable. There is a new recovery button present here. The battery is long lasting and would work easily for about 4 hours or so. I think it is a good option for someone who is looking for a good package in affordable price. This machine is still new to me and I hope it would keep me happy in coming days!

Make no mistake, Lenovo produces a solid fully featured highly-ranked laptop for... peanuts.

The G500, with an Intel Core i3-Ivy Bridge quad-core 2.5 GHz processor, 500GB HD, 2 3.0 USB ports, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, with Win 8 as native OS, and more, the G500 matches anything in the 2013 game up to twice the cost. I did kick my RAM up to 8GB since I use Adobe Photoshop CS6.

This G500 will get 'r done! You can pay a bit more for the i5 processor model but you will not gain much/enough.

I have had computers since 1990 and Windows from 3.1 (with a few Big Mac's along the way) and I am here to promise that if you give Win 8 64-bit a chance, you WILL fall in love with it. I did. No manual. Look Ma, no hands. Just toured and learned. Quickly. I predict that if you liked Win 7 you will really take to 8. Really. And moving into Win 8 and setting my network, adding devices, etc., it was a SNAP! Even more effortless than in Win 7.

Lenovo support is excellent, both online and through telephone contact.

The only drawback, for some, might be the weight, generally slightly heavier compared to most lappers. This is due to overbuild and should NOT be considered a minus.

The design is exceptional, contemporary, and stylish sort of in a Chinese way. Lenovo has been around for many years (began with IBM) and you'd be surprised at how much Lenovo there is today in other brand computers.

I could go on and on heaping praise on Lenovo and this G500 but I will bet that IF you do your research and compare, you'll grab this or another Lenovo model pronto.

Now go do your homework.

And to the nitpickers, yes, this is a late 2012 model.

Not to worry.

Got this for my dad as present, he needed to get something more suitable for business and every day use. This machine is doing very nicely so far. Make sure to create restore points, win8 is not bad, just it will likely come in handy.

Actually it is difficult to critique the Lenova itself. I could barely use it because of Windows 8. I tried and tried often over a number of days. I sought help from others. I looked at YouTube tutorials. I heard from others later that Windows 8 is not user-friendly to those not accustomed to the touch screen type and that it may be a "disaster" for the company. I am used to Windows XP, and I could not get used to the new system. I felt that my sanity and composure were worth more to me than the computer, so I sent it back. I think that the computer itself is probably just fine. I am 70 years old and not very tech oriented. I should have inquired more about the computer before I ordered it.
