I purchased a Lenovo hoping that the quality of their product would be better than previous laptops I've had in the past. I am unfortunately disappointed.

I purchased a brand new Y470P from Lenovo and it gave me consistent freezing issues. I tried reinstalling the OS, I called up tech support and did everything they recommended, and had to send the computer in for them to repair. Not only did they not repair it, but it's in worse condition than it was before. After getting the computer back from them, I noticed that they replaced my graphics card with a different brand card, either hoping I wouldn't notice or doing it by mistake. It still has the 'Radeon Graphics' sticker but now it's NVIDIA on the inside. That in itself isn't a biggie. I went online and found that the one they replaced it with is marginally worse. However, the problems that I'm experiencing now are worse than before. It fails to go into sleep mode or hibernation by itself now, so I have to manually do it and hope that it does it successfully. No more closing the lid and being on my way, I now have to babysit it to make sure it goes to sleep. If I ever leave it unattended and unplugged I come back to find that the battery is entirely drained since it failed to go into sleep mode by itself. The fan speed is always high, making it noisy constantly, unlike how it was quiet before. (and I checked to make sure the cooling settings were the same)

Now I have to wait until the end of the semester to have it 'fixed' again. (I would do it now but I'm a CS major and need to have a computer to do my homework -not having it for two weeks isn't an option)

EDIT (11/01/2012): I'm changing the review from a 1 star to 4 star because Lenovo gave me a new computer to replace the faulty one. The old one started blue screening so I had to have it replaced. The new one isn't refurbished and it's a newer, better version of the one that I had, so I'm happy.

Everything I hoped this laptop. It's fast, play decent games at high settings and it didnt get hot to the point where you can use it as a heater like the Asus G60vx. The quality is great, the speakers are WOWWWWWW I mean it's sounds like ur in a theater with the srs premium sound. It has fan control which is pretty nifty

and it's also small so it can be portable instead of carrying a 15.6 inch screen or 17. It lagged a few times because I probably installed some kind of software but it went. Overall, it's the best computer I had thus far and it last like a hour and half in gaming and it also last 5 hours if you put it in energy saver (basic browsing, Microsoft office, etc...) The wifi signal is great, the screen is gorgeous and it's also hybrid which means you switch beywen 2 graphic cards (Intel HD 3000 AND Nvidia 550 GT). The graphics are phenomenal and fast. Just make sure you update it and your good to go. Just buy it!!!! You will love it :) don't install or update all drivers all in one session! That's a Noo Noo!!!

I purchased a Y470 directly off of Lenovo website in July 2011. The config is Intel Core i7 processor, 8Gb of RAM, 750GB HD, NVIDIA GT550M, and Win 7 Home Premium. I paid ~$950+Tax which I was very happy with given the config (you could get a similar laptop from Vaio or Apple for $800 more than that back then). Of course these days computers are much cheaper, but I'm writing this review in hope that those who read it get an idea of a Lenovo product.

I've been using this computer since October 2011 (although I purchased it in July, I didn't get it until then because Lenovo would only ship it within the US and I was in Europe back then). I have done pretty much everything with it (office, internet, gaming, data analysis (MATLAB), CUDA computing, etc) and it never had a problem. I have played Crysis 2 at very acceptable frame rates on Medium and to a lesser degree Maximum (not Ultra) graphics settings. I have also played Battlefield 3, Assassin's Creed and NFS: The Run. All run generally smoothly, but of course in computationally intensive scenes the frame rate drops which is what you would expect from a GT550M GPU.

One of the greatest things about this laptop was its battery life: I literally have used it for 13 hours straight on battery power (of course with WiFi off, minimum screen brightness, etc). But the thing with the battery is not its capacity, it's the utility that Lenovo provide you that beautifully takes care of energy consumption. However, the downside of the utility is that it's not available for Linux (they have been upgrading the utility I believe so there might be a version that runs on Linux too these days). So on Linux I would get only like 3 hours of battery power normally. If you use the laptop on battery with maximum demand (like playing Crysis 2 on Maximum graphics settings) you only get like 1-1.5 hours of battery, suggesting that the power management utility is phenomenal (as it can extend the battery life to up to 12-13hrs).

I am very happy with what I have gotten from Lenovo (given the price) so I would get more Lenovo laptops in the future.

I have had my laptop for about a year now and I still love it. I have since upgraded it to Windows 8 and installed a SSD to run the OS alongside with the provided HD. Runs fast, battery lasts all day for school. Runs everything from adobe products to office without a problem.

Alright, I wanted to wait a while before writing this review because most people review products pretty quickly after purchasing. This really leaves out a lot of important info considering the first month of ownership usually leaves out a lot of experience with any product. I bought this laptop January 8th 2011 for $750. It is now January 28th 2013. I think two years is enough time to get a good feel for a laptop!

So here's what I've found:

Once you eliminate the unnecessary processes that WINDOWS 7 runs, this computer is quick and can perform many things at the same time. Right now, I'm running Google Chrome, 2 windows open, with 9 tabs between them. I'm also running Vaio care (a very nice program that cleans up everything like defragging) as well as TrendMicro (my antivirus). I frequently use photoshop CS6 and chrome simultaneously without issues. ***I've given this laptop 4 stars out of 5 because Windows is a part of the computer and my issues are all with this operating system.***

It works well with my Bamboo Splash tablet, I absolutely love the HDMI output. I play movies all the time on my 42" 3D LCD TV directly from this laptop because it's so much quicker than my Blu-Ray player. Any issues with speed are directly related to the programs run. Just get rid of the stupid bloatware (Windows Media Player, internet explorer, basically any Windows stuff ) and get things like VLC Media Player, Google Chrome, etc. As long as you take care of this computer, it's well worth the money. Nothing is broken on it, USB ports all work, HDMI works, SD card slot works, all the keys are still functioning properly. The only wear you can really see is that the matte finish on the keyboard is slightly worn off on some keys (you can only see it when you're looking at it from a strange angle). It makes the keys look a *little* more glossy. The little bumps on the mouse pad area are also slightly worn off in the center, something I noticed about a week ago.

It's impossible to keep the outside clean of fingerprints, I've tried everything, but now I've just accepted it.

Overall, I'd recommend this computer for any daily user. I'm a college student and it serves every purpose I need for classes and for hobbies of mine. I've never had a computer that wasn't outdated within a year, considering I've had this one for 2 years and it's still working perfectly, I don't plan on getting a new one any time soon!

I bought this laptop in the end of 2010 as a christmas bonus for myself from BestBuy.

I was skeptical about it, because i was so used to my old laptop and i tried out any, many laptops but ended up returning them because i didnt like them and could get used to them. This laptop has a great performance rate. Only a fool would dislike this laptop. I loved the color as well. Its fast, no lags. I can actually play Fifa 12 on this without lags. FOR REAL! Just buy it, you wont regret it. I promise you that!

I had gotten this laptop back in 2011 as a late b-day present, and I have to say compared to my old 2004 Sony laptop, it's a LOT better!

I only wished I bought it online and not from Best Buy, reason being they replace the hard drive on my laptop with a much cheaper, non Sony part. Long story short lost everything about a month ago.

Though I did notice it freezing and such, I blame Best Buy 100%.

Now the laptop runs well again, the only issues I have with it is the slower boot up when you turn it on, and the fan going off for a while, it's not that loud but it can get on your nerves.

Don't bother buying it from the store, because you might get ripped off the same way.

The Color is beautiful and rich, but enjoys keeping fingerprints everywhere.

I highly recommend this laptop for anyone out there! (Just stay away from Best Buy)

So my screen died 1 year and 3 weeks after purchase. ASUS will not cover it under warranty (1 year). Unless you want your purchase to break after a year, don't purchase ASUS.

Great profile. Nice machine once everything was set up properly. Keyboard is not backlit I don't think. I read about problems with keyboard, but our employee who is using it has not mentioned any problems. So far pretty good.

First, let's get the WIFI disconnection problems out of the way. No promises, but this is what worked for me and many others:

1) Update the WIFI driver to the latest one. Go to us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers to get it. As of this writing, the latest driver is version 10.0.0.225. Install the driver and reboot.

2) Then, on your computer, open Network and Sharing > Change Adapter Settings > **WIFI Adapter Properties** > Configure > Power Management > UNcheck **allow the computer to turn off this device to save power** See? You want to stop the PC from turning off your WIFI to "save power."

3) Then go to your Battery Settings.....

Click Battery icon > More Power Options > Power Saving / Balanced / High performance > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > **Wireless Adaptor Settings** > Power Saving Mode > on Battery > Change to low or medium power saving (Medium works for most people. I chose Low). Reboot one more time. Done.

Now the review. I'll update this later if I encounter problems.

Pros:

* Optical/DVD drive. DVD drives are growing increasingly rare in the "budget" category. Maybe you don't want/need a dvd/cd drive. I do. I think the closest rival to this laptop is probably the HP Envy Touch, and it doesn't have an optical drive.

* i5 Processor. This is middle of the road. Not as slow as the i3, not as great at the i7. But the i5 does its job well. And yes, you can game on this, IF you adjust your game's Resolution and Details to Minimum, bringing the fps down. It still renders the play smoothly, example world of warcraft, sims.

* Graphics card / Memory. This comes with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card (update the 4000 card driver when you get this laptop!) and 128MB of dedicated system memory. Yes, I would definitely prefer an nVidia and more Memory. But, for the money, it can still juggle multiple programs being open at the same time, some CPU intensive. For example, if you're playing a game, you definitely should close all other programs first to free up that Memory. However, let's say your editing videos; in that case, you can manage to have your editing software open as well as other programs and truck along just fine.

* More USB ports, including 3.0, and dongles (HDMI/VGA/Ethernet, packaged separately) than I've seen in most laptops under $600.

* HD webcam.

* HD space. This is 750gb. Some other V5's offer 500gb, yet cost more.

Cons:

* Battery life. 4 cell is far from stellar. The description says "5 Hours," but don't count on it, unless you're an extremely light user with minimal programs running. With heavy use, it's more like 3.5 hours. I think you could probably find a 6 or 9 cell for this and it would increase your time to 6-7 hours, but I haven't looked for one yet.

* Resolution. 1366 x 768 max, is not great, at all.. However, the only time I can really see the effect of that low resolution is when I'm pinching to zoom in the browser, it can look somewhat pixelated. However, the desktop and programs UI look great, as do videos and everything else.

Ambivalent about:

Windows 8. I miss the Windows 7 interface sometimes, because the familiarity of the Start button. I use Stardock Start8, which gives you the option of using the Windows 7 or Windows 8 interface, both.

Overall:

I'd recommend this for anyone who wants bang for their buck.

I took a gamble on this laptop because it seemed that most reviews on any version of this laptop comments on broken wifi.

The reason I took the gamble was thanks to another review that stated how to fix the wifi issue, but luckily when I received my Acer Aspire it worked fantastically out of the box.

The first time you power it on it takes awhile to setup the files, but that's to be expected.

Once the initial setup is finished everything is good to go. Wifi works fantastic. I had absolutely no issues with it.

The touchscreen is awesome and I truly had no idea how much I would enjoy it.

The backlit keyboard is fantastic.

This is not a gaming computer! Don't go in thinking all your supposed game should work. Just a disclaimer.

The only two issues I've had are:

1. The battery isn't as nice as I would like. I probably get 3 hours of heavy use. I still haven't looked into an extended battery.

2. About once a week you should completely restart the laptop to free up all your volatile memory.

Overall, I completely love this laptop. I'm on it right now typing this review. It actually works so great that, even though it's 3 months old, I still haven't transferred even half of my files over because it's just so great out of the box.

Set up, performance, and yes WiFi all work flawlessly out of box without any driver updates. I'm not sure why some are claiming major WiFi issues, but I have had none. For the price, I don't think you can beat its performance. I also downloaded Microsoft Office 2013 Professional and all is good. Again, it to works flawlessly. I have been a Dell and HP fan in the past but it seems their build quality has dropped for their lower end models while Acer is trying to grab some market share and it shows in the quality build of this model again not sure why some are complaining here either my daughter compared it to Apples $1600 laptop, in build quality. I don't typically write many reviews but I'm so impressed with this purchase, and almost didn't buy it because of the somewhat negative reviews. I just don't seem to have any of the problems others have claimed. Good luck with your decision.

The product largely does what it's expected to do: CPU is fast, integrated graphic chip is good for non-gaming applications, and touch-enabled screen goes well with Windows 8 Metro interface. Out of the box, wifi indeed is not stable (obvious compared with other devices connected to the same network: changing to "limited" connection and then coming back after some time). Installing the latest driver from Acer's support website has solved the wifi problem, but the bluetooth no longer works. Since I use wifi all the time while seldom connecting to a bluetooth device, it seems to be worthwhile trade-off for now. Hopefully Acer can introduce a patch that can make both wifi and bluetooth reliable.

This machine is a beast for the money. Loads of RAM and spacious hard drive, laser-quick I5 Ivy Bridge (new technology) processor, backlit keyboard, touch screen, and much, much more. Incredibly slim and sleek-looking, and easy setup out of the box.

Like some other users, I had an issue with Wi-Fi drops out of the box, but a quick update of my Wi-Fi driver completely cured this issue. I've had the machine for over a month, and have had zero other functionality issues.

If you're looking for a monster of a budget laptop, I've done all the research for you. This is your baby...

Straight out of the box, I love it. I ordered my Lenovo laptop (4330AU) over Thanksgiving weekend. Paid $376 for it with free shipping. Received in 3 business days. I purposely did not want the latest and greatest computer, and looked for solid customer reviews before purchasing. This is my 3rd laptop and, so far, after only using for one day, I like this one best. For the money, I'm pleased. Some of the little things I liked immediately included: a 10-key pad; a textured surface that doesn't show finger prints (finally!); easy to setup with no added crap; fast; quick to connect to my home wi-fi; very nice screen (although seems just a tad bit smaller than stated size). This laptop doesn't get hot like my old one, and the battery life appears to be as stated (4 hours) while running several websites and the wireless card.

I plan to use this laptop mostly for internet, Microsoft Office, photo editing, PC games, etc. Nothing serious. If this laptop holds up even 1 year for me, it will be my best purchase ever!

I have had two cases where, after a long period of time idle, the screen blinks when a key is pressed. Makes it impossible to shut it down using the mouse, so I use task manager and keyboard commands. After rebooting, the problem goes away. Never experienced this type of issue before, and not sure if it's serious. I plan to look into more over the weekend. Other than that, still very happy with this laptop.

These were Christmas presents for my twin girls. Both computers worked great at 1st. But then the hard drive died on one of them. I had a major run around with Lenovo on getting it repaired. Their website told me I had to take it a local authorized repair company I tried this and after going to the 3 places they listed the 1st two told me do not make repairs on these computers the 3rd one said they could do the repair but just as i was leaving they called me back to let me know that Lenovo had just changed their policy and now they could not fix it. This company showed me the email they had received from Levono and sure enough the laptop was listed as one that they could no longer repair.

I then called Levono the following day and at first was told that I needed to take the laptop to a local repair company, I explained that that was not the case and I was put on hold for quite a while. When the person came back they said I was right and would have to ship it to them at my expense for repair. I was not happy about this but what choice did I have so back it went and 10 days later it arrived back with a new hard drive.

I will not be buying another Levono product again due to their service.

I got this laptop for my daughter. I was setting it up for her. At first, everything was fine until I had to use the touchpad. That's where it all the disappointment started. I tried everything and finally, I had to call Asus tech support. Another disappointment here! I started talking to a Tech Support rep at 3:30pm and by the time I was finished, it was 8:30pm. I spoke to 3. The first 2, after 30 minutes of trying to help me, we got disconnected. The 3rd one, after letting him know exactly what the instructions of the other 2 and what was the result, he just told me to do a recovery. That took over 4 hours. All of that so I can make the touch pad work. Too much. I returned it and will probably not go to Asus again. I am back to HP which I had so much better tech support experience. Just decided to try Asus since its for my daughter. I figured with the spec and price, you can't go wrong. I am so wrong. Bought her HP and never looked back!

I ordered this computer when I spilled water on my old one and burned out the sound. If you like smart phones, and that swiping app technology than this is the computer for you. It is fast and sounds very good. This is my 3rd Asus computer, and they have the most speed for the money. I am not a smartphone user and didn't realize that Windows 8 was this technology so I continue to use both of my computers. I also didn't realize it didn't come with Microsoft office loaded and I can't load mine because it is a different version. But those are issues I did not research and are of no fault of this product. Technically up to date machine, that does the job and is fast.

I purchased this computer because my macbook pro was stolen in march. it was a great price and i love it..it works pretty much exactly like how my macbook pro worked. the only issue i had was that sometimes the charger that came with the computer would not charge the computer. because of this, i had to buy a new one for 80 dollars at the apple store. however, everything else worked great and i recieved my computer 2 days after i ordered it!

I need to buy a PC to run some Microsoft project and share point applications for my company. I've been a Mac only guy for at least 10 years, but I do know my way around the windows infrastructure. This is an i7 machine with a good amount of memory, and it does everything you need. The screen quality could be a little better although it is sufficient. The auto installed HP applications are a nightmare. I would strongly recommend disabling all of them. Warning, this machine is not only big but it's also pretty happy I had to switch briefcases in order to be able to carry with me on my last trip. As a desktop replacement it's a homerun but as a traveling computer just keep that in mind. I bought the refurb and so far no problems.

HP Pavilion m7-1015dx Entertainment Notebook PC I started having issues about 6 months into ownership. After a plethora of phone calls to HP tech support, they finally determined a hard drive was failing. I won't even go in to that nightmare (getting the hard drive replaced when I need this laptop daily.) Anyway, the "new" hard drive is really putting out some heat and I'm afraid we're heading down the same path. I have installed all my software so many times that I have my 20 digit MS product key memorized.

I've decided that I'm going to buy cheap, cheap, cheap laptops from this point forward, and treat them all as disposable. But not everyone can afford that.

Other than the failure of the hardware, this is a great Win 7 laptop. Just too darn bad a critical piece of the hardware is not up to par.

When I saw the rave reviews for this laptop, I thought this would be an amazing deal, and would be a laptop that could last for a long time. Sadly, this machine is plagued with problems that add up as time goes on. I actually purchased this particular laptop last year, but had to return it right away (less than 30 days) because of a faulty hard drive. Now almost a half-year later, many issues have arisen. I was no longer able to view pictures at first, and there were many software issues. Now not only is the mouse severely malfunctioning, but the sound card is completely out, and like the previous commenter, the HD is having major issues, and I've tried every possible way to fix it, and I consider myself pretty tech-savvy.

The previous HP laptop I had lasted me over five years, and that machine serviced me very well. That one had minor malfunctions, but they were all fixed just fine at little or no cost. However, this m7 has turned out to be a disappointment, and just managed to begin to majorly malfunction after a short time. Sadly, I will have to purchase another laptop that is not an m7. That is a real shame because there are so many quality features that the m7 has that most other HP laptops do not have like the backlit keyboard (which is a GREAT touch, but I can now live without it), the extended battery, the Beats audio, and the advanced Core i7. However, all of those features are overshadowed by the phenomenal failures that happen over a short period of time with this particular product. I really gave this laptop a chance, but it has now failed me twice.

If you want a top-of-the-line computer with amazing features that may only last you less than a few months, give this a shot. If you want a durable and longer-lasting laptop, then you are much better off looking elsewhere.

Toshiba Satellite A105-s2141 Review

I've had my Toshiba a105 for about 4 years now. I haven't had any issues with it. It initially came with Windows Vista, but I upgraded it to Windows 7 professional with no problem. I haven't had any problems with my DVD drive. Never had a blue screen or any sort of malfunction. I like to do a lot of customization so I have rainmeter running on it, rocketdock and a host of other application that run at startup and my toshiba hums along with no issues. I like that I can log in to my computer just by scanning any finger with the Biometric scanner on the lower right side of the keyboard area.

It has 4 USB ports which is great. I'm using them all simultaneously right now without a hiccup. I use an additional monitor connected through a VGA port, but it also has a Svideo port and I've hooked it up to my tv, several times. The wifi on it is great. My router is in the office, one floor up and I've never had a problem connecting or losing signal.

I have a desktop that I hardly use because this laptop does a great job. Even though I haven't, putting more memory in would make this laptop perfect. It comes with 1GB of RAM, running at 1.73Ghz (Faster than some laptops currently produced).

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I'm stingy. I might have given it five stars if it had an HDMI port, but when this computer was produced, very few laptops would have come with a HDMI port. I can't say enough about this laptop. Very tempted to make it 5 stars... Toshiba made a winner here!

on old (over 6 years) toshiba's the disk drive stops working (this happened to my friend also). I'm thinking of not reinvesting in toshiba laptops for this reason. also my version does not come with a dvd capability. this model is really inconvenient and I don't have money to buy a new one. the model I had before this one ( also a toshiba lap top but a higher grade) worked for 5 years until it was accidentally damaged. but make sure you buy one better than this model.

I purchased this laptop three days ago and I can't put it down. I was saving for a MacBook Pro but couldn't wait any longer. This laptop almost matches the 15.4 MacBook Pro, except of course that it isn't a Mac, but this one has more memory. The back-lit keyboard and multi-function trackpad is wonderful. I am able to run two very intense graphic programs at the same time with no lag time. Make sure to make your recovery disks as soon as you open the box since it doesn't come with any restore disks.

Great machine and a great value for the money but no eSATA port. The specs indicate at least one USB 2.0/eSATA combo port. Bought one last week at Office Max with the expectation that I would be able to directly connect my older eSATA external drive. No such luck. The computer does has a USB 3.0 port so I had to buy a BYTECC eSATA to USB 3.0 adapter from Amazon (which by the way works great) to retain the speed of the eSATA connection.

The machine is noticibly faster than my 6 month old i3-350 Toshiba. I will give it 5 stars because of the outstanding value even though the lack of a direct connect eSATA port was a small problem.

This is my first Toshiba, and I'm impressed. The speed of the i7 quad core is awesome. Extended keyboard is extreamly comfortable. Multitouch pad gives you extra funcionalities. It's perfect for my need, I do computer programming and works like a charm for my environment. I don't do games neither heavy graphic intensive applications, so on board video is more than enough for me. USB 3.0/eSATA port is ultra fast, I bought also a Seagate usb 3.0 external disc, I get peaks of 100MB/s and average of 70MB/s copying big files.

Definitively I would recommend this laptop. Looks also is really nice. I can't believe I paid less than 1000 USD for these machine. Very happy customer over here :)

Gave this to my daughter as a gift. Very pleased. I set it up for her; and runs smooth. Minimal bloatware, and I liked the solid keyboard, extended battery, specifications are excellent. bought this model so the can use the wireless display with a TV. Remember though this benefit is limited because it won't streamline copyrighted DVDs. Otherwise excellent features...

Okay, I fix computers for a living. This is a great deal, on a great laptop, by a trusted Manufacturer. I picked up one of these for my Mother in law, got my wife a different model and of course my wife likes her Mom's better!

Giving a one star rating to this laptop because you don't like Windows 8 is beyond ridiculous. It's like saying I don't like this car because of the paint. Who cares? Slap a different operating system on it. The hardware is solid. Rock solid.

I exclusively sell Lenovo. I'll fix anything, but for my money, I'm gonna pickup a couple more of these.

After extensive searching for a good affordable laptop, I bought this laptop from amazon. They delivered it within a day time as I requested. I was very anxious about using Windows 8 because I read soooo many bad reviews about it.......like they almost convinced me that it would be a big flop.....BUT WAIT!!! I have found Windows 8 very interesting and more attractive to work on. It took me only 15 minutes to learn how to use it.........I mean it's easy to use, just with new ideas. And I took a gamble choosing this laptop without a touch screen......but now that I am working on it, I don't think I need a touch screen laptop to use Windows 8. Also, this laptop has awesome speakers and you would enjoy them!!! Then this key board is soft enough to make you feel as if you are playing on scrabble game. The hardware also looks sturdy and reliable. There is a new recovery button present here. The battery is long lasting and would work easily for about 4 hours or so. I think it is a good option for someone who is looking for a good package in affordable price. This machine is still new to me and I hope it would keep me happy in coming days!

Make no mistake, Lenovo produces a solid fully featured highly-ranked laptop for... peanuts.

The G500, with an Intel Core i3-Ivy Bridge quad-core 2.5 GHz processor, 500GB HD, 2 3.0 USB ports, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, with Win 8 as native OS, and more, the G500 matches anything in the 2013 game up to twice the cost. I did kick my RAM up to 8GB since I use Adobe Photoshop CS6.

This G500 will get 'r done! You can pay a bit more for the i5 processor model but you will not gain much/enough.

I have had computers since 1990 and Windows from 3.1 (with a few Big Mac's along the way) and I am here to promise that if you give Win 8 64-bit a chance, you WILL fall in love with it. I did. No manual. Look Ma, no hands. Just toured and learned. Quickly. I predict that if you liked Win 7 you will really take to 8. Really. And moving into Win 8 and setting my network, adding devices, etc., it was a SNAP! Even more effortless than in Win 7.

Lenovo support is excellent, both online and through telephone contact.

The only drawback, for some, might be the weight, generally slightly heavier compared to most lappers. This is due to overbuild and should NOT be considered a minus.

The design is exceptional, contemporary, and stylish sort of in a Chinese way. Lenovo has been around for many years (began with IBM) and you'd be surprised at how much Lenovo there is today in other brand computers.

I could go on and on heaping praise on Lenovo and this G500 but I will bet that IF you do your research and compare, you'll grab this or another Lenovo model pronto.

Now go do your homework.

And to the nitpickers, yes, this is a late 2012 model.

Got this for my dad as present, he needed to get something more suitable for business and every day use. This machine is doing very nicely so far. Make sure to create restore points, win8 is not bad, just it will likely come in handy.

Actually it is difficult to critique the Lenova itself. I could barely use it because of Windows 8. I tried and tried often over a number of days. I sought help from others. I looked at YouTube tutorials. I heard from others later that Windows 8 is not user-friendly to those not accustomed to the touch screen type and that it may be a "disaster" for the company. I am used to Windows XP, and I could not get used to the new system. I felt that my sanity and composure were worth more to me than the computer, so I sent it back. I think that the computer itself is probably just fine. I am 70 years old and not very tech oriented. I should have inquired more about the computer before I ordered it.

I love the look and the feel! Never had such a beautiful machine.

Specs are fine. Lighted keyboard is great. You can even a just it or put it off.

I just find it needs a upgrade to more RAM. So I just bought a 8GB ram 12500 speed.

That should smoothen operation a bit. All in all I would buy it again. Great laptop for business.

Not a good laptop for gaming. Graphic card is not made for that to my opinion.
