This laptop is AWESOME!! I just got this laptop for Christmas and I have been on it for 3 days straight. The speed is incredible, the set-up is easy, and the layout is standard. Windows 8 is easy to set up and very understandable to use after a few hint websites. The only problem I have with Windows 8 is that there are a lot of keyboard shortcuts that are impossible to remember. The speed of the start-up on this computer is insane! I am able to push the power button, take a drink of water, and its already loaded. The layout is very standard across the board. The only difference in my old laptop was that I did not have a full keypad which I now find very useful. The only complaint I have about this computer is that the sound is not as loud as I had expected. On full volume I find myself sitting quite close to the computer and sometimes struggling to hear certain words. With headphones this is not a problem, however.

Overall I give this computer 4.5 out of 5. Although the sound is a downside, I have not found any other problems I have with this notebook. It is fabulous for anyone of any age and very versitile.

With shipping and tax, the total for this computer (refurbished) was about $350, taking a huge chunk off the original price. It has plenty of space and runs all the games I need it to quite well (LoL, Pokemon online/Pokemon showdown!). It has a perfect amount of weight to it as well as a huge screen, great for watching movies. Paired with a nice, full keyboard for taking notes and a large track pad that understands gestures, the computer is fantastic, especially for the price I got it.

Can you believe it, a laptop that looks just like a phone. Easy to hide, to avoid potential theft. Amazon should be checking their photos of products.

Update, over a year later and the still haven't fixed the picture of the product.

This laptop is a good alternative to a netbook, if you were thinking about getting a netbook, get this one instead. It has a big screen to work with, and has a well-sized keyboard. The keyboard buttons are not crammed together since they forego the numeric keypad. I personally don't use Windows, and i took a chance and was able to easily install Debian Squeeze (6.0). The laptop comes with the latest chipset from Realtech (the RT8188) and if you use any type of Linux, you can compile the drivers easily from the source (provided by RealTech). If you use the preinstalled Windows 7, then don't worry about this, it'll work out of the box. The only complaint I have is that the trackpad buttons (left click, right click) have a cheap feel. This isn't a dealbreaker by any means.

Great keyboard, good-sized screen, works great with Windows or Linux.

The battery lasts around i'd say 2.5, maybe up to 3 hours. I think it was advertised as more, but I think manufacturers on the whole tend to exaggerate (perhaps they calculate based around just watching the BIOS config screen till it dies instead of real-world use).

I've been a Toshiba laptop fan for years, but when I went to shop for the latest Toshiba line I was stopped in my tracks by their new keyboard design, which uses a number pad and shifts the entire keyboard and mouse pad to the left so far that it becomes unusable.

I saw the HP Pavilion 2000-219DX and tested the keyboard and immediately fell in love. HP did a great job here. The keyboard and mouse pad are centered and it just feels perfect when typing. I'm a writer so it's very important to have a keyboard that works and this one is one of the best I've used.

The other big benefit of this laptop is that it's extremely quiet. I detect very little, if any fan noise. I don't know what they've done with this one, but the battery life is nothing short of amazing. I unplugged it the other day and worked on battery power all day. Granted I was only doing word processing and some web browsing, but battery life puts this laptop, with its power, 15-inch screen and onboard large 320GB hard drive, on par with netbooks for usability away from a power source. Again well done HP!

The only things I'm not entirely impressed with are the screen, it's average; it's processing speed, when working on big photo or video files it leaves something to be desired. I'm still using the stock 3GB of RAM. It should perform better with a RAM upgrade; also the right side placement of the power cord and two of its three USB slots. When will laptop makers realize that a lot of people use and external mouse and don't want wires coming out of the right side of the machine to interfere with mouse movement? Fortunately there is a USB port on the left side too, so it's not a major issue. One other minor complaint is the onboard mouse pad. Unlike the Toshiba's I've used, it doesn't have a scroll function on the right side of the pad. I miss that.

Those very minor complaints are the only things that keep me from giving this otherwise excellent machine five stars.

Overall though this laptop is an exceptional value, with its top-of-the-line keyboard and battery life. Stick in some additional RAM and you'll be ready to do about anything on this that you could with a desktop.

Highly recommended.

UPDATE:

After buying additional RAM (now 6GB total) and working with this computer for a couple of months, I want to report that it is quite slow when working with large photo files, or any other type of large amounts of data that require a lot of processing speed. After running Windows 7 Performance Tests it turns out the AMD processor in this computer is the weak link. The processor scored only a 3.8 (out of a possible 7.9).

So scratch wheat I said about putting additional RAM to make this computer a fast performer. Processor speed is important. With its slower processor the laptop is limited in terms of doing photo or video editing.

Best Deals for Hp 2000-219dx Laptop, AMD Dual Core E350 Processor 15.6", 3gb

Best laptop keyboard I've ever used. Chiclet keys of the current and 1st-gen MacBooks don't compare. The 13" Macbook Pro with the 320M, similarly arranged in discrete islands of individual soft-lettery, does not promote long-term typing with the unforgiving aluminum surface. This 2000 219dx by HP, at the 15" size-form, delights in its tactile rest.

I've also tried the chiclet-style keyboard of the HP dv7-4273us; comparably, the 2000-219dx keyboard is superior. You may find the "give" that is, the flex in the latter a little disconcerting, but it certainly confers a fast-typist certitude of responsiveness. It takes a single design team at a huge corporation to rail against the chic-boutique and this laptop does it.

Congratulations to the hardware designer(s) at HP who stuck to your guns and manufactured this beauty. I would buy five of these for the rest of my life. One would be sent to the computer museum as a reference model of superior scissor-switching.

I've never used the Thinkpad. But if you are a zealot for mobile keyboards, thinking you'd always have to use an external at home, dimly forlorn at the current, fallow fashion of finger finagling, you'd be hard-pressed not to try this trip fantastic.

Walk in to your local Best Buy and try it.

As for everything else, this laptop has been known to work with Ubuntu, and a previous reviewer said it works with Debian. So I'm pretty good to go with LFS.

Update 10/18/2011: Everything works in Ubuntu 11.10. Proprietary graphics, Skype webcam/mic, suspend/hibernate, wireless. Keyboard continues to amaze.

This computer was delivered on time. It has a great feel and it is very responsive. The first thing I noticed was the brightness of the screen it is clean and sharp, and the colors really stand out. The keyboard is solid and feels nice when typing. The other thing I noticed is how light this computer feels; this has been sitting on my lap for hours and I hardly feel it. I think that for the money I made a great choice. I have owned Dell before and I had great results, I guess that is why I went back to it. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone.

I began purchasing Dell products in 1993 and bought 3 MP3 players, 4 laptops, 4 desktop computers, 3 printers, a camera and more. However, about 5 years ago, I noticed a sharp decline in Dell's customer service and quality of their products. So I purchase 5 MP3 players from Apple and Samsung, a laptop from Apple and another laptop from Acer, and 3 tablets from Samsung and amazon. Recently I have been reading some positives about Dell, although there are still complaints about their customer. So I decided to consider Dell again, but I wanted to still go through Amazon because of their customer service. I received the laptop in 2 or 3 days and it was great right out of box. I like windows 8 even though I am still learning. I really like this laptop and it was a good price. The processor is fast, there is plenty of hard drive space and memory. I highly recommend this laptop and for those who have lost faith in Dell to consider them again.

I am not a high tech person. I use my computer for Shopping, scrapbooking, social media. My daughters boyfriend (who does know computers) recommended this computer to me. It was easy to use. Easy to set up. I am able to work my way around it and maintain it. The only thing I wish it has is Keys that light up. I suppose if I had spent more time or money I could have found that. I can't think of anything else negative to say. It met my needs and was very affordable. My Teen daughter uses it for school projects and I have not heard any complaints from her.

I bought it mostly for the processor, which works like a charm. And compared to the laptop I was using which was kind of a cheap Compaq, which overheated a lot and for some reason didn't support higher forms of Java anymore, this laptop is like heaven on Earth. Although, sometimes it freezes and I have to shut it down completely, which it probably shouldn't do considering it's brand new. Also, when it goes to sleep when the lid is open, I have to restart it every time, so it's kind of a pain how time consuming it is just to turn it back on after it's been asleep. Maybe it's supposed to be like that if you don't close the lid.(?) But over all it's exactly what I expected and more. And I still think it's a better alternative to a Mac, because I don't like Macs.

The laptop is fine, reasonable speed, battery life etc. The 6-cell battery is severely protruding at the back, something that is not shown on Acer or Amazon pics. The battery tilts the laptop by an inch which is weird to use on your lap.

Better options out there:

For about $400: 13 inch Dell Inspiron 13z or refurbished laptops (Toshiba Portege R835).

For about $550: 13 inch ultraportables with a touchscreen Lenovo u310 or Sony Vaio.

I bought the white color. It came with xandros linux and the UI was choppy so I downloaded Ubuntu Netbook edition and installed a 2GB memory module. Ubuntu is very impressive on this netbook.

The battery really does last just as long as they say it does. I love the Solid State Drive because it makes booting Linux real fast. I would say, its much better than the Windows version.

Forget about tech support and forget about anything asus. They just don't care. I could not get a hold of them and their web site is terrible.

We bought this at Best Buy because it was cheaper there. Only $270++

Day 1 Install Day -> Easy to set up. Glitch #1 happened. Wifi lost connection and would not create the outlook account but still got to complete setup.

-> completed all windows update required. Took a while and a number of restarts but that was to be expected.

-> Day 1. 3x lost wifi connection. Had to click on the "FIX THIS.. " button to get it resolved.

Day 2 -> installed office, adobe, no issues on install. Lost Wifi connection once.

Day 3 -> Mouse pointer keeps freezing. Had to force reboot 2x.

I should have taken the best buy reviews more seriously. A lot of people angry with their purchase.

A lot of issues with this computer:

1. Mouse pointer freezing

2. Webpages take 3-5 seconds to render completely and mouse pointer active for navigation

3. Free 30 day Mcafee will not scan. Keeps shutting off.

4. Have to click on things 3-5 times for it to respond.

5. Space bar doesnt respond all the time so have to double click on it sometimes

Likes:

1. Lightweight

2. Price

i think the cons outweigh the pros. Will be returning to best buy

update:

Day 5

i figured out the issue with the mouse pointer freezing, apparently after it did multiple updates, it disabled the mouse. I have never seen this before but there is a function key that has a mouse icon on it with a line on it. just clicking that function key returns the mouse pointer.

Decided to give it a couple more days to see if all the windows update fixes its issues.

Day 6

seriously... i think weve experienced about 10 updates and about 15 restarts since then. how many windows update do you need? Some go for an hour. so today we disabled the automatic updates feature and maybe will enable updates when we leave the laptop at home.

Speed has not changed. for yahoo main page, about 5 seconds to render fully. for netflix main page, about 30 seconds to render fully. Once they render, they stay usable. no issues. so if you are patient and not willing to spend a little more, this one is for you.

I was looking in the market for a basic laptop for my younger brother who is going off to college (UCI). I'd had search on numerous websites looking for a deal which included newegg, frys, bestbuy, and walmart. All of which were out of my budget which is when I found this baby on amazon. I gotta say, this is the best bang for your buck as far as practically and price. At $315, this machine has exceeded my expectations! I thought it would be a lot smaller and slower both at which were incorrect. Has great hardrive storage and comes with 4 GB ram, I may buy some more ram so that multitasking would be much quicker. Right I can stream online radio, have 4-5 tabs open with different websites loaded (including me writing this review) without it taking to long to load each page but it could be faster with RAM upgrade. Overall, I think my brother will be very pleased with his new laptop, it will take care of his educational needs as well as entertainment.

i rolled over with much laughter after receiving my 100.00 laptop and to my surprise, yes it is a dinosaur of sorts but

it does exactly what I need it to do and apparently the previous owner did quite a few really decent upgrades to it and I have to admit that I appreciate the upgrades..THEY SAVED ME FROM SPENDING ALOT MORE MONEY!!However I had a power surge and fried everything and ended up purchasing a much better laptop from Toshiba but would recommend looking into purchases of this kind as the service is exactly what you get and what you would come expect..Letting my friends know??yes .. after I have saved quite a bit of cash on purchases myself...first..thanks...enjoy..

This is a wonderful laptop. It's thin and light but feels extremely solid. The retina screen is absolutely gorgeous to look at. The only down side to retina is that many websites don't have high enough resolution images so they end up looking a little blurry. I just hope those sites increase their image resolutions because the retina display is truly amazing... it makes all my photos look a lot better :)

The machine is very fast with most apps opening instantly. Even heavy weight ones like XCode. The battery life is very good; I haven't really gotten to test if it gets the advertised 9 hours though.

The built in SD card reader is handy. The only thing I miss is an ethernet connection (you can get a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter). I rarely need it but there have been times.

All the stuff I've come to love with Apple in a convenient package. The free copy of Numbers, Pages and keynote are nice too. I highly recommend.

Purchased this laptop through excaliberPC due to it not being available on Amazon and have been Really impressed. The Raid 0 is what sold me on the product. I love the look and feel of the laptop it's sturdy and durable and weighs a ton. The thing I found most impressive was that this was the first laptop I have ever had that wasn't preloaded with a bunch of junk. I upgraded windows with a fresh install and actually immediately went back to MSI's site to redownload all of the utilities that came with the laptop as I actually missed having them and found that anything that was provided was actually a useful piece of software specifically for this laptop that enhanced the experience. I will note that as one user mentioned previously because you are using a mobile version of Nvidia's kepler architecture it comes pre-set to optimize power consumption and not use the Nvidia card unless needed. This will cause your system to appear like it doesn't recognize the card. Simply go into Nvidia's dashboard and adjust it's settings to use the GTX 680m card only and you will see a major increase in performance.

I bought this laptop after a lot of searching. I was finally in a postition to pull the trigger on something rediculously over-priced.

Before I purchased this laptop I was considering going with a Lenova, but I wanted all the shiny extras like the glowing keyboard that is very personalizable.

First thing I noticed was that the keyboard backlit system stopped working with one of the LED's on the WASD section of the keyboard, including the headphone jack light (which I thought was cool) both stoppped working within the first few days.

The GTX680 is future proof. I won't have to replace this laptop for at least 10 years or until the next gen of gaming arrives.

I went with the 17.3in screen, 1900x1080 resolution. Everything looks amazing, I haven't bought Witcher 2 (and don't plan to) but that has been the only game at this time that people have said they have problems running on max settings.

I have the 750Gig hard drive with a 256SSD, 16g(4x4g) ram.

I have all of my games on max including Skyrim, Borderlands 2, COD Black Ops 2, BF3 (and more downloading) andthey all run amazing.

If I were to do anything different, I would have went with the GTX 675 or the GTX 660, with the higher front side buss 3Megs at least.

This is only because $2,300 is a lot more than $1,700 and IMO not worth the slightly upgraded videocard and 128 extra gigs of SSD.

I am usually a very good deal hunter but this was a gift to myself after buying a crappy non gaming laptop and having buyer's remorse.

I am very happy with this purchase. I hope this helps anyone looking to buy something similiar.

This is now my fourth gaming laptop, never i have ever said completly i don't miss my desktop on my trips, lets face it desktop hardware is just faster as it has much more space to fit bigger coolers, bigger psu, etc. But now im completely amazed with the MSI GT70one, the GTX680m is a really great card, specially for laptops, its very close to the performance of a desktp GTX570, something that imo is truly epic, it run Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 max settings with no hiccups whatsoever even on dense npc areas, niether of those two games are very demanding, but once you have big armys or huger mobs to kill, it will slow down any laptop gpu, with MSi... its like having my desktop on the go.

The Laptop is beautiful imo, the screen is matte (yes no more reflections like asus), the speakers are best in the market second to none, even Asus that has good speakers on the G73/G74 cant compete with dynaudio setup the msi has. The keyboard is a pleasure to work with, its a chiclet island type of keys, but very responsive and you can customize the colors in 3 zones, only thing tha sucks big time is the microphone but not like i see a laptop with a decent one, i always use external in my gaming or video conferencing, and the second drawback is that its not as quiet as my Asus G73, not saying noisy, but you defently know the fan is on, where at times with my Asus i was amazed into how quiet it was.

One thing that i would have love to see was MSI using Samsung 830 msata, i haven't seen hit retail, but i seen them OEM, this imo would been a perfect combo for such a great laptop, still the included ssds are amazing fast and i dont have issues yet, but personally i don't like sanforce controllers... but i guess time will tell.

This is truly a laptop that will handle almost any game at max settings, and probably anything, even encoding. Its expensive, but i dont regret what i spend on it, if you have the means, treat yourself with this super powerful laptop.

Honest reviews on MSI Computer Corp. Notebook Computer GT70 0NE-276US;9S7-176212-276

I am going to do a more in depth Review, but Ill sum it up .. This thing smokes.. and for those of you riding the fence between this and the M17 R4 2012 model...GET THIS ONE! In some of the GPU Benchmarking, the ALienware beat out this system by just hairs, but that was with stock configurations out of the box.. Once one learns how to utilize this machines Overclock ability It smokes the Alienware. Now Im not going to lie, the GT700NE is not the prettiest Gaming Rig on the block, but what you get is uncanny gaming performance, It laughs at every game I've thrown at it on Ultra settings, getting at least 80-90 frames a second and on some 140+.. The only game I haven't tried is the Witcher2, which I hear is too ridiculous even for Desktop Rigs. Yeah the Alienware is SEXY,, I mean real sexy. But Im very glad I went with the MSI.. You will easily pay 1,000 more for the same specs on the ALienware, not to mention the M17's GTX 680M Only sports 2GB of Video Ram, while the MSI has 4GB...At the same time though the Alienware has the 120HZ screen, ready for 3D gaming(a gimick IMO), but barley has the Ram to back it.. The GT70 DOES NOT have a 120HZ screen but will laugh at a 3D compattible game if you hook up to a 120HZ Monitor. My only complaint would be MSI's Customer support, I called them for something simple and was on the phone with machines for over an hour, and had to end up leaving a message just to get called back 3 days later. Alienware(Dell) has unrivaled customer support, and will even come to your house if you buy a warranty through them, WHICH YOU SHOULD BE DOING IF BUYING EITHER ONE OF THESE MACHINES. WIll add more later

I spent about half a month pondering whether i should buy an Alienware of similar specs of go for this one because I did not have a very impressive picture of MSI in my mind.

But i finally hedged my bets and went with this one. And damn i was right. This thing is a beast. It will laugh at any game you throw at it, including BF3. It gives a 60 FPS on BF3 Ultra settings but when you set it to low(which really doesnt make a difference) it gives you a constant 100+.

The SSD Raid 0 Configuration makes this thing boot up in a WHOOPING 9 seconds !!

This is mobile gaming at its best and at a relatively cheap cost ! Don't waste your money in those Alienware's just go ahead and buy this one, you shall not be disappointed.

Slim design, sleek keyboard with numeric pad, and fast processor make up this wonderful laptop. Powerful video graphics does HD with ease but it doesn't play new core games, this is NOT a gaming laptop, the graphics card is wonderful but any game past Oblivion will most likely fail. The cons are not aplenty, but are there. When maximizing the use of the processor, be aware the fan will become hot. Because of the computer's sleek design the fan is not that powerful. This is easy to get around on when you buy a good cooling pad with a fan, preferably one that arches to allow for the small under-belly fan to access air. My only other complaint is the graphics card not being able to play new games... but hey, you get what you pay for. If any one is worried about the 4 gigs of RAM, don't fret, go to crucial.com and follow the on screen instructions to determining what upgrade you want to buy (up to 8 gigs of RAM for this laptop). The website even has an excellent video demonstrating how to install the memory yourself, saving around $50. Anyway, I have 8 gigs of RAM coming today, I will update soon to tell how that goes.

All in all, get this computer if you want excellent for the price... there are what, 2 left in stock?

I've had this laptop for about 16 or 17 months now and I have yet to find a single issue. These closest I've found is when you are crunching a lot of video memory, it can get warm, but using a spacer to give the fan more room fixes that. I run hard photo editing software and autodesk. I am still at the factory 4gb of memory, but am now thinking of going to 8gb.

This is the perfect laptop for the student, the traveling businessman, or for the limited space of an apartment or bedroom. I know that I sound like I'm from Acer, but I'm not and I've bought a ton of stuff from Amazon and I don't leave many reviews, but I needed to leave one for this machine.

Very happy with this Hp g7 laptop. No issues to speak of other then I don't have a preference for Windows 8. I did although add a start button and run this unit as Windows 8 with a Windows 7 look. I'm very happy with this unit and I'm an experienced professional in the computer industry. Windows 8 on a laptop is probably not for the nuby. Microsoft needs to change course quickly and offer a tablet version of Windows 8 and a PC version...

Started with a different maker at first, but it broke within a week.. kinda glad now because this HP has gotta have one

of the best pictures I"ve ever seen.. no pixelation issues and the large screen size makes it nice to watch videos and/or

movies..sound is great to...just love it.

Windows 8 is terrible. It's already crashing and I don't live with the person I bought it for so I can't do the (what I can only assume would be) relatively easy fix. The reason I'm giving it such a low rating though is to sway other non-computer minded persons from purchase. Go with a computer that comes with Windows 7...Windows 8 can't even function properly for those who don't know their way around computers.

I normally wouldn't try to buy something like this over the internet, but I really needed a computer so I thought I might as well give it a try and for what they were asking for the laptop, I couldn't refuse!

It arrived 7 days early from the ending shipping date given via UPS. It come very neatly packed a VERY well protected with bubble rap up the wa'zoo! But thats not a bad thing cause it had to travel in a UPS truck!

I got the product and plugged it in and was very happy to see my name on the start up screen! Was thrilled to see that and very unexpected as well! The computer runs great, it needed to perform a couple upgrades via Microsoft, but that only took a minuet or two, nothing big. It runs smooth, no viable damage to the casing of the product or to the keyboard. It runs whisper quiet and I am writing this review on it right now! :)

I have no problems with it and plan to upgrade the hard drive and other compositions to match my gaming qualifications.

Good stuff, Thanks!

I brought this laptop and immediately it was disappointing with what i received, as soon as i turned the laptop on a blue screen came on saying that there was a problem with the hardware system no matter how much i tried to restart and reboot it sometime it would work and sometimes it wont. I had to take it to a computer repair service here in Maryland to have it fixed i would never ever buy a laptop from these sellers again.

I have owned this laptop for about five days. The first impressions of the quality and sturdy design were great. When I turned it on it got better to see the HD display (well worth the investment, because I have to work on it al the time). AT first I HATED Windows 8. I did everything I could to avoid the Start Menu and got to work on deleting all the extra software (pointless games, etc.) that came from HP. Yet after learning how to work the totally different Windows I will never go back. The stream line of the programs in the start screen and the simplicity make it an enjoyable experience. But back to the laptop. The keyboard is similar to Mac Books yet the key stroke firmer and helps from accidently hitting the wrong key. The mouse pad is good over all, gestures make it a breeze to switch applications and bring up settings. It is also very sensitive which was scary at first but I noticed there was a lock for it at the top right corner of the track pad for when you type. The only complaint is that if your finger is the slight bit moist it gets stuck when you try to move the mouse, should of used a different finish on it. The finger print scanner is actually something I thought I would never use, but now I use it at least five times in a sitting. The camera sucks but for a laptop it is okay. Over all this is the best laptop o could find for the money and in my opinion well worth the investment.

Hello

Today I received this laptop. I was surprised by the fact that this laptop has in fact very slick and beautiful design.

I was actually going to get Mac Pro. However, the outrageous price upset me and I turned my back. I began to search laptop review and I found

that this laptop got the highest score 10 out of 10, higher point than Mac's product. But almost three times cheaper than Mac.

The performance of this laptop is amazing. It's fast and solid with dazzling resolution of HD monitor and Geforce GT 650!

The best part of this laptop is that you can easily upgrade your hardware later on as you need.

The finger-touch sensor is also very sweet. Once you register your finger print in the system, you can log in computer with sliding your finger!

I am getting used to Window 8 now but so far so good.

Amazing look, performance, and price. GET IT!

Honest reviews on HP ENVY dv6t-7200 15.6" 1080p Anti-Glare Quad HYBRID Series, 3rd

The screen quality is excellent and vibrant. It's a bit disappointing to use even a high-quality LED/LCD monitor instead of the screen.

The performance is excellent. I can't tell for certain if the hybrid hard drive makes more of a difference than the processor or memory, but the notebook does boot up quickly and application start time is low. The performance does generate a lot of heat while running a game, the keyboard quickly became too hot to leave my fingers resting on it. That's not a problem for me because I use a Nostromo game controller, but it might be a problem for others.

The specifications have one surprising limitation I didn't notice before buying the notebook. The wireless supports the 2.4GHz range only, and not the 5.4GHz range. I expected a high-end notebook to support 802.11a and its MIMO variants.

It has a wide selection of ports spaced reasonably far apart. The only annoying port is the GbE RJ-45 because it has a plastic cover that's a bit difficult to open or fully close. I expect the cover to break at some point.

The design quality is a step down from my previous Envy notebook, but overall it's a solid value.

This is definitely a powerhouse notebook for it's class. The problem I have is that I don't really care for Windows 8 and you can't downgrade to Windows 7 because you don't have downgrade rights with this version. Only Windows 8 Pro version allows you to do this. So I thought ok, I'll just shrink the hard disk volume size and add a partition to hold windows 7...No luck there either. Somehow HP has decided to use hardware on the Elite that won't accept the Windows 7 install either. I'm sending this laptop back and buying the earlier edition to this one which is a Pavilion DV6 7000 with specs close to this one. It has all features and specs identical except for Windows 7 and processor I7 2.3ghz HP Pavilion DV6-7000 15.6" 1080p Anti-Glare Quad HYBRID series, 3rd Gen Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge GDDR5 Nvidia Gaming Laptop in Midnight Black DV6T
