Just got this model for Christmas. There are veriations of this model along with different prices. It's a bit more expensive than most computers that will do similiar functions, with only the exception of having a core i7 processor (quad core). All the other computers that had i7 were way over priced built for gaming, but from that prespective, it's actually one of the cheaper ones if that'll be your primary use or want to have it as an option. On appearance, its black sleek look is very impressive. You'll have to get the customized version from hp.com if that's not your taste. The widescreen looks great that's nice for watching movies. The sound is pretty impressive too...lots better than most laptops, complete with sub and all. Windows 7 is sweet; so far opening programs fast and running it smooth. The side number keys are a plus too. I gave it s 4/5 because for the price I think they could've added more; like a blu-ray drive, 8GB RAM instead of just 6GB, a TV-tuner would also make it a total power house. The spec say it weights 7.7 lbs, but it feels more like 10 lbs. The heat vent felt pretty hot on the ones displayed in the store, but that may be because it had been left on all day. Currently it feels a little warmer than other non-high performing laptops, but not too bad. I'm thinking that may be an issue in the future, that's why you should get an extended warranty on it from hp.com. It's expensive, but well worth the investment...just calculated it into your total cost! Overall it's still a very cool laptop and I would highly recommend it.

Discount HP - Pavilion Laptop DV7-3085DX 17.3" LED Wide Screen 6GB Ram
I've had this computer for over 2 years now, and have only recently had to replace the power cord. Being a truck driver, my power cords are often mangled easily, but this one lasted much longer than expected. As far as the physical casing goes, there is no major wear on any part of the computer and only a small chip on the case from dropping it off of a three-foot high shelf onto a steel floor a couple times. I've never had a laptop that was able to withstand the abuse of being in a truck nearly as well. It is also capable of complete versatility; I handle all of my financial documents, taxes, trip paperwork, video calls to family back home, and anything I need for my business with it, and am still able to play some of the more advanced computer games (even WoW plays on high-res with no lag). Overall, I would highly recommend this system for anyone interested in a good, stable, versatile computer that can take pretty much anything you throw at it!

I needed something to run multiple apps including powerpoint and video simultaneously with no lag. This does the job. The keyboard took some getting used to, the keys do not have the dull plastic feel that I am used to with a Dell, but more of a cold metallic feel. One quirk I am trying to figure out with Windows 8 ... there seems to be an automatic swipe gesture I keep doing with the mousepad when I swipe up/to the right to move around the screen. It takes me to the start screen, which is annoying, and I would love to turn that feature off. Windows 8 on a non-touchscreen device can be a bit awkward and I wish I had windows 7. There is no start menu to access programs or quickly shutdown ... instead I control/alt/delete to shutdown or go back to the start screen by putting the mouse in the lower left screen of the computer and accessing the settings ... takes too much time. Overall, this is a good machine for the money, and I must point out that the audio/speakers are top notch. I am able to play for my entire classroom without external speakers, a first for any laptop I have ever had. Also, the battery has lasted me an average of 5 hours with the screen brightness turned way down. It is also a very quiet machine -no loud fans or processing sounds. Sometimes I forget that it' even on.
Update: The annoying automatic swipe function I was talking about turns out to be something that is actually fantastic called ASUS Smart Gesture. You can turn features on/off, like using two fingers for scrolling, one finger for select, three fingers to navigate pages, etc.
The trackpad is little sensitive and ethernet wasn't picked-up out of the box by Ubuntu which are the only reasons I'm giving it 4 stars. Otherwise, love this for a Linux laptop.

This laptop can be found for under $300 and it is well worth it if you are willing to install Ubuntu Linux 12.10. If you're willing to do that, you'll end up with a laptop that feels like a MacBook Pro which last I checked was $1,500.The trackpad is little sensitive and ethernet wasn't picked-up out of the box by Ubuntu which are the only reasons I'm giving it 4 stars. Otherwise, love this for a Linux laptop.

Buy White HP 14.1" Pavilion dv4-2145dx Entertainment Laptop 4GB
I bought this laptop a few days ago and so far it's great!
PROS:
01. Sleek Design
02. HP Quick Web very cool feature, where you don't need to load Windows 7 or your operating system in order to access everyday stuff like internet and email, music, dvds etc... It saves you battery.
03. Fast Runs multiple programs at once without or with little lag.
04. For the price, the Graphics are good and you can play games fine, but don't try to run anything major.
05. Finally a laptop that comes with great preloaded software!!! Hulu, Mediasmart just to name a few...
06. Nice size. Not too small and not too big.
07. Even though the exterior is glossy, this white version don't show up fingerprints as the case with other black HPs.
08. It's quite light to carry around. U can take out the DVD drive and replace with a "dummy drive" to make it up to 1/2 pound lighter.
09. Keyboard Very comfortable keyboard. No problems... It also has a numeric keypad embedded into the alpha keyboard. Doesn't replace your typical standalone keypad, but it comes in handy sometimes.
CONS:
01. Limited Battery Life I got about 2 hours with Windows 7 browsing the internet. I am considering purchasing a 12 cell battery replacement.
02. The touchpad is glossy and can take some getting used too. But I don't think that it should be a deal breaker since it can easily replaced with a wireless mouse.
I would recommend this computer for someone who wants a fast entertainment pc that has a great screen and is light enough to carry around.
The reason for the motherboard issue is that the video card on the motherboard overheats. HP knew that the heat sink design was false, yet they still sold these laptops. What does that say about the integrity of HP? A lightly used laptop should never only last two years. Because of this, HP will never get my business again when it comes to any of their products. I will not support a company that holds such poor standards.
Every single customer that bought this piece of junk should fully be refunded for this joke of a laptop.
DO NOT buy this laptop. It will FAIL you.
1stbattery had to be replaced
2ndkeyboard had to be replaced
I have heard that these hp's pavilion series is not the best and as I search for solutions to the problems I encounter I read about others with even more problems
my last laptop was a cheap ACER and it lasted longer with less stress
this is about 18moths old!!!

I received this as my high school graduation present and it only lasted me for two years. As you may have guessed, the motherboard died on me. I spend over $100 in repair costs which lead to no use, it always ended up black screening on me. In the two years that it did work, the battery life was exceptionally poor and the laptop ran extremely HOT.The reason for the motherboard issue is that the video card on the motherboard overheats. HP knew that the heat sink design was false, yet they still sold these laptops. What does that say about the integrity of HP? A lightly used laptop should never only last two years. I had this computer about 2 years. The CPU went. Checking online I see that is a common problem with these laptops. I was advised to just buy another laptop instead of sending in for repair. Look into another brand, I think HP is not what it use to be. I am moving on.Honest reviews on White HP 14.1" Pavilion dv4-2145dx Entertainment Laptop 4GB

Reviews of TOPSELLER X301 SU9400 2776P6U 13.3-Inch Laptop
Hi!
Received my X301 2 weeks ago from Electronica Direct and I would like to thank them for the excellent prompt service, This product is 2776-P6U it has all the above mentioned specs + AT&T wireless WWAN HSDPA 7.2 + GPS once you put your hand on the X301 you will notice that built quality is superior to the current T series meanwhile the reason why I'm rating this product 3 stars only is because of the keyboard its just awful!!! It flexes excessively specially the left side just like a cheap notebook! from what I came to know Lenovo implemented a new keyboard design that caused the problem I have contacted Lenovo with the matter and they informed me that they will look into it and I'm still waiting! The main reason I always buy ThinkPad's is the legendary IBM keyboard and now it's gone! I'm very disappointed with my X301 and I don't recommend it!
However, now it is up and running, it works very well. You can notice the benefit of low access-time of an SSD, particularly when it comes to tasks such as browsing picture thumbnails. It boots pretty quickly too. I would point out a few things gripes worth knowing though..
The battery-life is listed in the specs as up-to 5.5 hours. In my experience that is really around 3.5 hours.
The processor is a little under-powered and this can show itself in video playback.
The fingerprint scanner doesn't seem to work half the time (but who cares?).
That all sounds a bit negative, but on the whole I am impressed. If I had my money back I would buy an X301 again!
My current 13" ThinkPad X301 with an SSD is ultra-slim, weighs 3.2lbs., has clean simple lines, and is appropriate for business meetings. With the Enhanced Experience (EE), these laptops are also much quicker at boot-up and in processing when multi-tasking. Of all the laptops I have tried, I prefer not only the keyboard and overall ergonomics of the ThinkPads, but the balance, solid construction and feel.
I dock it to a 24" monitor and wireless keyboard when at home, and will sometimes carry a simple bookstand and wireless travel keyboard when working on a lot of spreadsheets, PPT presentations or word processing. This way, I can open the ThinkPad all the way, place it in the bookstand, and have the screen at eye level. It is thin and light enough to do this.
The solid state duo core processor makes for a quick boot-up and multi-tasking. Have owned the X301 for over 2 years and have not had any issues with it. I do run a good utility program to keep it running smoothly.
For business purposes, the simple lines of the matte black carbonite case makes for a durable travel laptop with a solid construction that is not distracting in presentations (think Alienware).
Visually and tactically, I do prefer the matte black and design of the X-series ThinkPads.
i reached a point that im looking for other options since its imposible to keep this toy.
if i can find a strenght is the size, look and feel, which migh have brought a lot of sales but nothing else.....
very bad lenovo.......im using my wifes mac air (which i dont like either by the way)

I am 90% happy with this laptop. It is very light and very portable. Mine came with Windows XP pre-installed and a set of Vista 'restore' disks. These didn't work (I called Lenovo support and their suggestion was to wipe the hard-drive and start again, which I did but that made no difference) so I had to install my own copy of Vista. It then took 2 days to download all the updates to my copy of Vista and all the X301 drivers.However, now it is up and running, it works very well. You can notice the benefit of low access-time of an SSD, particularly when it comes to tasks such as browsing picture thumbnails. It boots pretty quickly too. Buy Sony VAIO VGN-Z520N/B 13.1" Laptop (2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400
I am extrememly happy with this new Sony laptop which had all the bells and whistles I was looking for. The only con is only two USB ports which are on opposites side of the the laptop--a design improvement Sony should make would be a third one with power) along side one of the other ones.
However, what I most want to review is Amazon's handling of a minor problem I had. While the details of a minor problem with the initial computer was worked out, Amazon immediately sent me, without charge, another identical computer. I have since returned the "extra" computer, but Amazon's swift action at no cost to me has made me a happy and loyal customer.
I looked at the Lenovo X200 and X300 at the store. The x200 is small and fast, but my eyes really needed a bigger screen than a 12". Especially if you do graphics and design work. Plus it still lacked a dvd drive. The X300 is just over priced and still looks like my 5 year old laptop just wider. When I went to the store and saw all three I immediatly went online and bought the Sony VAIO VGN-Z570N.
It is a great laptop! The battery litereally lasts 5 hours on Vista! Imagine downgrading to XP (included) or using linux. I also got the deal where you get a free bag and battery if you buy by the end of December (check out pc nation). The keyboard is smooth and responsive. I love the toggle switch between performance (when using photoshop) and stamina (when just surfing the net). The screen is pretty wide and the resolution is incredible. It boots really fast (I am windows user). It has an HDMI slot and now I am watching movies on my HD screen dowloaded on this laptop. I do wish the screen was taller but that's not such a big deal. I highly recommend this laptop for people looking for performance, portability, and style!
So far I have been more than impressed! Out of the box this little guy fired right up without any problems. After about 45 minutes of removing the pre installed Sony software (not sure why it took some people hours?) and a few Windows updates this machine was flying.
The display is incredible, much better than any laptop display i have ever seen, this is partially due to the higher end Nvidia video card and the onboard 3GB of RAM.
The hard drive is more than enough for me at 320GB.
The unit only weighs 3.3lbs, to me this is nothing coming from a 14.1" DELL Precision M2400 which weighed about 2x that!
Some of my gripes:
Internal Broadband card is set to Sprint! (come on, who uses Sprint anymore?)
BIOS is very very limited, I'm a bit spoiled with all the options you can set in a DELL's BIOS
It's still a bit hard to find accessories for this laptop since it's so new. I'm trying really hard to find a extra power adapter since the one i bought at the Sony store is a "travel" adapter and it's basically a brick.
All in all I'm VERY happy with my purchase, I will be travelling to Germany in a couple weeks so i guess that will be the ultimate test.
Keep in mind, there is a big brother to this laptop that was not in stock at the time when i bought my laptop but i think it is called the VGN-Z590N which comes with a more powerful graphics card, a BluRay player and 4GB of RAM, had I seen that one i would have bought it but either way, I'm happy with what I got and would HIGHLY recommend it.
There are some positives and negative.
Positives
Light but powerful
This PC is very light, but it does not sacrifice its processing power. Intel's latest 45nm P9500 works great. Even somewhat heavy graphic applications or encoding-decoding of files can work fast. Heat is also well controlled probably due to the benefit of the P9500 and the combination of internal system design and the air flow structure inside, which is typically the strong part of Sony that is very good at designing smaller consumer electronics. I never felt the annoying heat from the system on the keyboard and/or the areas around the mouse touch panel.
Long Life and Graphics
The switch above the keyboard that lets you choose between the nVidia chipset ("Speed") and the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD ("Stamina"). On a stamina mode, my experience is that the regular battery can keep the system running for around 6 hours, which is remarkable compared with its light weight. I set the brightness lower in addition to the stamina setting. Graphics resolutions and other features are automatically set at lower level on stamina mode. Performance, particularly with games and 3D applications, is better with the nVidia chipset, while the integrated graphics card favors battery life. A reboot is no longer required after a switch, either, due to the Intel Centrino 2's support for switchable graphics.
I use 1600x900 resolution for the display, which is beautiful due to its LED backlit and very high resolution compared with other laptops. Its benefit is that you can have more workspace when using multiple applications at the same time, for example, a few excel sheets and excel VBA at the same time.
Negatives
Software for 3G connection, using the embedded Sprint modem does have some issues with compatibility in some cases. In my case, some Excel Add-In that uses an internet network connection crushes Excel itself every time I use it. Vaio Support desk which is as you image very slow to response due to inappropriate advice and long waiting time spent 6-8 hours in total and finally gave up to solve the issue and admitted that the original SmartWi software that manages network connection cannot be removed from the system when you use the Sprint modem is making trouble with other Excel Add-in. I suspect that the usage through Sprint is monitored by the software and both Sony and Sprint have some agreement on the revenue sharing of wireless data fees. Anyway, this is not at all positive for users and I had to buy other modems for use mobile data connections. Sony needs to focus on hardware only or otherwise improve its software quality. The frustrating experience with the support desk tends to remain in the memory of users for very long period of time.
Otherwise, I feel the keyboard quality needs to be a bit improved to the extent that some key generates creaking noise sometimes. And the mouse pad area is just a bit too close to the keyboard and I sometimes touch it and make an error in typing.
Net-net, this is the best ultramobile notebook that has strong processing power, real mobility, and beautiful design that I ever seen. It outperforms many competitions like Mac Air and X series from Lenovo. This is expensive notebook but if you need the best one right now, this is it. SmartWi is annoying in some cases but the support desk should have learned something from the trouble that I had already.

I have owned a thinkpad X41 for 5 years. I loved it because it was small, light, and relatively powerful. After all that time of constant usage and unintended abuse, I went into the market for a replacement. That was/is a sturdy laptop that just refused to die.I looked at the Lenovo X200 and X300 at the store. The x200 is small and fast, but my eyes really needed a bigger screen than a 12". Initial experience was mixed. The set up files for Microsoft One Care were corrupted (and on the restore partion also). I tried Norton 360 trial for security. Wireless sped seems to be slower than previous Centrino N setups. Sony support went on the system and nearly trashed it. I suspect the excellent but very tight security of Norton, may have added to my problems. After initial frustration, I tied to restore it to factory settings and used a disc for Microsoft One care. With his new instalation, what a difference. This is now the computer I was looking for. While the WiFi is still at 65 Mpbs, video from other computers comes in smooth I am using a D-Link dir 655 N router). The Sprint wireless works very well. The unit has builtin GPS and works easlilly with Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009. Battery life is good, with wireless on I would estimate 3-4 hours of usefull battery life (with the standard battery).I have been using now for 4 days since my reinstall and a so far no further glitches. The unit is a pleasure to use.Honest reviews on Sony VAIO VGN-Z520N/B 13.1" Laptop (2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400
I have been through my share of laptops in the past year. I am the I.T Manager for my company so I have a bit of experience in this department. Typically I go with DELL on just about everything, but honestly I believe they have captured most of the market and by doing so they have really started slacking on their products which led me to SONY. I'm not even going to touch a HP, Gateway or Toshiba and I had previously owned a SONY a few years ago and had relatively little to no problems so i figured i would try again.So far I have been more than impressed!

Samsung Series 3 NP350U2B-A01 12.5-Inch Laptop Review
post-review edit: after owning this laptop for 2 months, I've come to be very disappointed with the headphone jack. It's terrible quality and it takes great effort to find a position where it transmits sound to both ears. If it's sitting in place it's bearable, but if it's in my lap and I so much as tap my leg, the sound jumps in and out. It makes listening to music on the go unbearable. Deducted one star for it. At $800 (I bought it for $700 from amazon and have seen lower), I would not buy this laptop today.
---------
I bought this laptop about a week ago as a replacement for my MacBook from '10. I'm an engineering student and I got tired of the incompatibility of OS X with the majority of my CAD & engineering software. I was looking for a lightweight laptop with quality construction that would be able to run programs like SolidWorks and play HD video--no games. With this laptop, I found exactly what I was looking for.
The great part about this laptop is that all the components are really exceptional--except for the hard drive, which is crap. But see, that's precisely what I had hoped to find. When the hard drive is so awful, I didn't feel like I paid extra for a good component that I had intended to replace from the start. I went with a Crucial M4 128GB as the replacement drive. With the SSD installed, there's really no weak point to this system (except for the GPU, because there is no dedicated GPU). The standard voltage processor keeps programs running smoothly and the SSD makes programs load instantly. Power on to login in ~9 seconds. Temps stay low with no fan activity so it's totally silent. If you're just using the internet and playing music, it doesn't get above room temp. Great stuff.
Next I'll outline some key features in no particular order.
----------
Display: coming from my MacBook (not pro), the screen falls short. Same resolution but it doesn't look as crisp or colorful as the Mac--it's not a huge difference, but I noticed it when making the transition. I don't notice it anymore unless I have them side by side. Maybe it's the glossy screen vs. the Samsung's matte screen. The screen doesn't match the maximum brightness or the range of brightness available to the Mac. So, it's not a bad screen, but it could be better.
The slim bezel looks really classy & I like it a lot. The screen doesn't feel flimsy and the lack of a large bezel really makes the laptop look fantastic. The laptop overall looks beautiful & feels tough enough to leave in my backpack without worry. Some laptops I've seen in stores feel like they're made of plastic and I hate it. I don't get that with this one.
Oh, and 12.5" is the perfect size for a screen. 15" is too bulky for a work computer and the netbooks are cripplingly small. This is perfect.
----------
Keyboard: it feels SLIGHTLY smaller than a full-size keyboard, but I think it's the same as the Mac and it's not small enough to cause me to make mistakes while typing. I'm 6'4 with big hands, so you'll probably be okay. Function & arrow keys are nice to have. Keys feel responsive when pressed--it's almost exactly the same look, feel, and size of the keyboard on a similarly sized Macbook Pro. No backlight on the keys.
----------
Trackpad: I've seen worse on laptops, but the Mac's trackpad is significantly better than the one on this laptop. The laptop has drivers to allow for the same sort of "gestures" (2-finger scroll, 3-finger back) but it's not nearly as smooth as what I'm used to. I'm so glad it includes gestures though. It really does make everything significantly easier, even if the implementation has room for improvement.
Sometimes the trackpad doesn't detect my finger when I try to move the cursor. There's another problem that I run into where I try to drag a window and midway through, it 'drops' the window (for lack of better phrasing) and I have to re-click & drag. Same thing happens sometimes when I try to highlight a large section of text. The trackpad loses the position of my finger and the highlighting stops short of where I want it to be. It doesn't happen if I consciously press harder on the trackpad, but in normal use it happens enough to be annoying. The trackpad is this laptop's major flaw, but only by comparison to the Mac. By itself it's not a dealbreaker.
----------
Hard Drive: it sucks. 5400 rpm is as slow as it gets but it's the only weak point in the hardware of the system. Perfect opportunity to replace with a SSD. I really can't emphasize enough how much of a difference the SSD makes. The included hard drive is dead weight in this system and it really drags it down. You need a good replacement to unleash this laptop's potential. Read up on proper care of solid state drives if you're considering replacing the hard drive.
Just for perspective--with a SSD, this laptop 'feels' faster than a $1000 gaming computer running on a 7200RPM hard drive. The gaming computer will always outperform this laptop in games, editing software, and the like. BUT, when you're just running iTunes, Chrome, and other programs that don't require a ton of constant CPU/GPU power, this laptop will perform faster. I think that's pretty cool.
----------
CPU (processor): 2nd gen i5 & it's standard voltage, which means it's not scaled down for portability. I don't play games on it, but SolidWorks runs great and video is smooth as silk. Exceptional processor for a laptop, especially for one in this price-range/weight class.
----------
RAM (memory): 4GB is plenty for all but enthusiasts and some graphic designers. No expansion slot, but I don't really care. Wish I knew if it could be upgraded to 1-DIMM of 8GB, but you really don't need more than 4GB.
----------
Sound: I don't have a pair of great headphones so I can't speak for the sound card, but the speakers are pretty crappy. It's enough to show people videos or for once-in-a-while use, but they're no replacement for standalone speakers. The sound from MacBook speakers is an improvement, but still bad. It's laptop speakers in an ultra-portable laptop... what do you expect? I wouldn't be mad if they had left out the speakers altogether to cut down on weight.
----------
GPU: integrated with the i5 processor, the HD 3000 is enough for HD video but probably not enough for gaming. I don't use it for games so I can't speak on that behalf, but it hasn't held me back at all.
----------
Optical Drive/USB slots/etc: 2 USB slots, not USB 3.0. Not a big deal. The usb slots are on opposite sides of the laptop (one per side). No optical drive--had to install windows 7 with a thumb drive. Downloaded the drivers from here:Nothing to say about the other slots. USB and headphone slots are the only things I make use of.
----------
Battery: I get about 5 hours on a full charge while connected to WiFi. I use the 80% max charge option to save battery life but if I took it to full and took the screen to minimum brightness, I could probably push it to 6-7 hours. Not replaceable but I hope Samsung is right and it lasts for a few years.
----------
Conclusion:
The laptop isn't perfect, but I would argue that it's the best in its price range (with a SSD). All in all, I paid $879 for this laptop (including SSD), which is a few hundred dollars less than its Apple counterpart (the MacBook Air). This laptop does everything I need it to do and more, especially for the price. I'm really happy with it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~REPLACING THE HARD DRIVE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Remove all the screws holding the back plate to the laptop. Two screws lie underneath the rubber pads. I used a philips head 0x50 screwdriver. BE CAREFUL--IT'S VERY EASY TO STRIP THE SCREWS. I cut it close a few times because I rushed through it. Take your time.
2) Now the back plate has to be pried off. This part sucks; it took me around 15 mins to finally get it. Pry off a corner and slip something underneath. Slide it around the edges and you'll hear pops when you do it right. Latches are placed around the edges and they need to be unsnapped to get the backplate off. The backplate splits the fan vents in half, so be mindful of that when you're looking for a leverage point.
3) With the backplate removed, you need to remove the screws holding down the hard drive. Carefully remove it from the SATA connector and unscrew the cover from the hard drive (the thing with the rubber pad on it).
4) Install the new hard drive and use the cover to screw it back into place.
5) Snap the backplate back on, replace the screws & rubber pads and you're all set. Remember, you'll need a USB drive to perform a fresh install of Windows 7.
I hope this helps someone who is as picky with computer purchases as I am.
PROS:
* super light i'm a pretty small person and a couple pounds can make a huge difference when i'm carrying something around all day. at just about 3 pounds this notebook is hardly noticeable in my bag.
* super small this thing is tiny, which coupled with the weight makes this an extremely portable notebook.
* attractive this may not be important to everyone but this notebook looks really nice, and as a graphic designer it is important for me to present a good appearance to my clients. it has a sleek, modern design, a nice brushed metal look on the cover and keyboard, and nice, compact keys with rounded corners.
* keyboard these keys don't have a lot of travel which i actually didn't like at first but now that i've used the notebook for a few weeks i've changed my mind. i also like the font type and size for the lettering on the keys very clear yet subtle.
* processor the i5 is a really good processor and handles photoshop, illustrator, word, and a couple of internet tabs open at the same time.
* ram 4gb of ddr3 is more than enough for most people, and from what i've read an additional 4gb can be added which helps "future proof" this notebook.
* matte screen i love not constantly having glare on my screen and i also find that the matte screen is easier on my eyes. there is also a con to the matte screen so please read that.
* noise level this notebook is really quiet compared to others i looked at. when the fans aren't on i can't hear anything (some others emit a high-pitched noise like that of old televisions) and when they are on they produce a faint humming noise that i soon forget about until they turn off. the keys are also fairly quiet i don't think typing would disturb others in a classroom or library.
CONS:
* matte screen the only down side to the matte screen is that the colors aren't as vibrant as on other screen types. my desktop uses a semi-matte screen, also made my samsung, and i notice that the colors are a bit more vibrant. that being said, even as a graphic designer this does not have a significant impact on my work as: a) the vibrancy difference is minimal, b) i don't use this notebook to create designs, only to show them and make minor modifications, and c) colors will look different on virtually every screen. i have not yet messed around with the display settings so that may have an impact but no matter what you do the colors will not look the same as they do on a glossy or semi-matte screen. however, there is no noticeable color bleed on this matte screen which would have been a deal breaker for me.
* indicator lights my eyes are very sensitive to light and motion so the first thing i do on a new computer is turn the screen brightness down and turn off the indicator lights on the keyboard...except in this case i was unable to turn these lights off. i called samsung and they confirmed that the lights cannot be turned off so i'm going to cut some tiny pieces of electrical tape to put over them until a third party solution is available. on the plus side, the screen brightness control is great (i use 3/8 8 is instant eye pain and 1 has me squinting to see).
* no dedicated graphics card i would really prefer a dedicated graphics card but in this price range it's nearly impossible to find a notebook with this feature. for the average computer user this won't be an issue but if you are using graphic intensive programs a dedicated card can help with lag time and be even more useful when newer versions of such programs come out as they will most definitely be more demanding.
* no usb 3.0 not a big deal now but may be annoying in the future. if necessary i'll get an adapter.
OVERALL
really nice computer in terms of processing power, ram, portability, and style. i would recommend this computer for: graphic designers as a supplemental portable, students as a primary computer that can also easily be carried to class (boy do i wish they made computers this light when i was in college), and for any person who wants a portable computer for everyday stuff (word processing, internet use, etc) that has a good enough processor and enough ram to be useful for years to come.
edit 12.10: i forgot to mention that when i got this computer the function keys didn't work. i solved this problem by downloading the "easy display manager" from this samsung downloads page:
The system did not come with an over abundance of bloatware applications pre-installed so it was usable right away without having to uninstall unneeded junk. The Fast Start technology seems to work as it does wake back up very quickly. I am anxious to try the wireless display but need to buy one of the TV adapters to make it work.
I would definiately buy this again.
12/17/2011 Update:
I found I was occasionally having trouble with the wireless connection when unplugged. I changed the windows power settings to have the wireless network use maximum power when on battery and it seems to have fixed the problem.
Love this laptop, using it to write this review. I got it because we recently started started going paperless at work and wanted my own notebook to carry with me and do my work. Its absoultely perfect for the job. Most people notice the aesthetics first, its a very attractive machine. Even though the series 3 is the budget series of Samsung, this notebook does not feel cheap in any way. The next thing people notice is the weight and size. It's got the same form factor as an 11.5 inch laptop thanks to Samsung's trademark thin bezels, so you get more screen for the same form factor. The weight is perfect, i carry it around with me all day without problems. Also like the keyboard, its a full sized keyboard with chiclet keys. Also has arrow buttons, which is a huge plus for me. With a full version of Windows 7 and the horsepower of the i5 and 4GB RAM, it runs better and smoother than any other laptop Ive ever owned. Overall, a great purchase for a great price. Would buy again in a heartbeat.Best Deals for Samsung Series 3 NP350U2B-A01 12.5-Inch Laptop
i am a freelance graphic designer and primarily use this notebook to take to client meetings to give them progress reports (secondary use is pretty much all internet). while this computer is not powerful enough to substitute for a desktop when using programs like illustrator and photoshop, it does run these programs well enough for my purposes (haven't really noticed significant lag time...maybe a bit with 20+ layers open but nothing ridiculous). these are pretty much the only programs i run on the computer besides office; i haven't started any new projects using this computer but i do make adjustments to projects that i have already started on my desktop and this computer handles that really well. now for the pros and cons:PROS:
Honest reviews on Samsung Series 3 NP350U2B-A01 12.5-Inch Laptop
What a great little laptop. I wanted thin & light but did not want something underpowered. So far I am extremely impressed with this system. The screen is bright and at 12.5" feels big enough to do most anything. It is very thin and at 3 lbs really does feel very light, in fact any ligher and it might slide around the desk when you use it. The core i5 2410m is quite fast and has the upgraded HD 3000 video, so far all of the graphics and video work has really impressed. I considered a system with an SSD however I do like having the space that the 500GB HDD provides.The system did not come with an over abundance of bloatware applications pre-installed so it was usable right away without having to uninstall unneeded junk. The Fast Start technology seems to work as it does wake back up very quickly. I am anxious to try the wireless display but need to buy one of the TV adapters to make it work.
I wanted a reasonable sized, light, easily transportable notebook computer that would be fast enough in normal usage to not feel slow. This Samsung works. It is subjectively fast, light enough (3.1 lbs) to carry easily, and has the capacity to do everything I want to do. The keys don't have much travel but are easy to get used to. At full brightness, the screen is fine. At 12.6 inches, it's big enough. Even with the power cord, the whole package is still under 5 lbs. Wish it had more USB ports--2 means I have to use a small 4-hole port. I got an external DVD writer/player for when I have to use a DVD to get software installed. I prefer to not have to carry the additional weight of a DVD around when my need for it is rare. Compaq CQ57-210US 15.6-Inch Notebook PC - Black Reviews
Okay, I cheated and got mine at Wal-Mart on a whim only because they were pushing them out the store at my local store for $290 due to remodeling in process.
Let's be realistic and admit the specs are hardly awe inspiring, but I needed a laptop for school and it was either this or a netbook with less RAM, smaller screen, and shorter battery life.
After all, where else can you get a 15.6 inch laptop with a full keyboard that can manage to squeeze nearly 5 hours off a standard battery even with wireless running.
Now for the good points:
* DDR3 RAM instead of the usual DDR2
* RAM is easily upgraded. Hint, remove the battery and the lone screw holding the RAM plate in place will be staring you in the face. Although I'm not sure, this may be a safety precaution to make sure you do remove the battery first.
* 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD standard. Most netbooks cut these specs in close to half
* Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit instead of 32 bit Windows Starter found on most netbooks
* Plays video galore due to upgrade graphics capability over that normally found with the Atom processor
* Crisp, clear screen with no glare
* Speedier than the Atom processor in nearly everything
* No getting confused by buttons on this model. This is as plain Jane as you can get and that's good
* 15.6 inch screen means less page scrolling than with a netbook
* Not as heavy as you might think. Tops, maybe 5 pounds
* Rated at 4.5 hours but I managed to squeak nearly 5 hours
* Slick outside surface doesn't hold fingerprints, an oddity in the low price area
* Keys give decent feedback although it's not in the Lenovo class by any stretch
* Want a surprise? Play a music file and listen to the sound. This sucker comes with Altec Lansing speakers!
* Heat? What heat? This puppy doesn't make much. Even better, I have yet to hear the fan. My last Acer netbook made so much heat I couldn't put it on my lap after a while.
* Cheaper than a tablet and only marginally more expensive than a netbook
Nothing is perfect and this unit is no different:
* It's DDR3 RAM but it's limited to 4GB even though it's a 64 bit OS
* Bloatware galore
* As slab sided and ugly as ugly can get. Black plastic and acres of it without a lick of color anywhere. Guess for $300 you can't get artistic.
* Outside is devoid of fingerprints but interior finish picks them up like a Swiffer picks up dirt
* No dust over or protector for SD card slot. That's odd.
* One USB port is right next to power plug entry meaning no fat dongles allowed in that slot
* BIOS settings, while effective, are straight out of DOS in terms of design. May be a little nit-picky but instead of using the cursor to make choices you have to read a menu and press the appropriate F key to activate menu options
* Trackpad is worthless. No scrolling and since it's the same color as the casing it's impossible to see in the dark
* Like warning lights telling you about HDD activity, blah, blah, blah? Ain't happening here. Just one light to the left telling you the power is on and another to the right advising that wireless is working. No indication when plugged in that it's even charging (blind faith on that one)
Overall, I give this unit high marks because it's so much more than you might expect for the money all while being as plain a package as you can get.
DVD eject button not very easy to reach.
Cheap laptop for school, email, word processing .. etc.
Generally a slow computer at great price.
I would not buy it.
I ordered this notebook for my father. It was delivered very fast. We like the appearance and the keyboard is very comfortable. However, my father found some flashing black lines across the screen at the first use. The lines were not always there, but once they appeared, they stuck around until the window was closed and reopened. Most of the times, even the close-and-reopen strategy didn't work. We let it rest for one night and give it another try the second day, but things didn't get better. I returned it.Best Deals for Compaq CQ57-210US 15.6-Inch Notebook PC - Black
I have had hardware issues with this laptop since I bought it. I've sent it back to the factory because of the modem, and it still doesn't work correctly. At least once a day the modem decides to stop working. I bumped the unit slightly with my hand when I picked it up and it dumped all my information and did an emergency shut down. This was literally a slight bump! The mousepad is a nightmare. I've had this computer for about 8 months and have had problems with it the whole time. When it is running, it runs slowly. I'm sure that is due to hardware issues as well. I will probably buy myself another computer just to end the aggravation, but it won't be another Compaq!Sunday, October 5, 2014
Buy Acer 15.6" Blu-Ray Aspire AS5551-4200 4GB 320GB Laptop
This computer is fantastic. It is light, fast, reliable and plays unbelievable quality Blu-Ray discs. I have come to really love Acer as far as I'm concerned it rates better than Sony (I just sold my Sony Vaio because I was so disappointed in it's performance and the customer service has really gone down since the old days when Sony was the one to beat. Now I have this Acer and it is GREAT!!! I can't say enough about it, and to make it even better, the customer service is also GREAT! Webcam is clear and the sound is up there as well, and the battery seems to last a very long time on a charge. I travel a lot and that is very important to me. You won't be sorry with any Acer, but I can personally vouch for this model. I hope this helps you make your decision.
Buy ASUS G60VX-RBBX05 Refurbished Notebook PC
I am not a gamer.
I bought this from Circuit City for everyday computing and the processing and manipulating large photo files. The fast hard drive as well as the dedicated video card works great for that purpose.
As a refirb unit I must say that it arrived in perfect condition, well packaged and complete it its' minimal accessories. It show no evidence of being used .. ever. The lid is attractive and seems solidly made. It's not particularly fancy, but it has solid specs and seems like a good performer. Much, much better than my defective HP dv9910 that died an early death.
What I like most:
Overall Speed and video.
Fast 7200 RPM Drive
Decent processor speed
Dedicated video with 1GB of dedicated RAM
Quick boot time
Rubberized palm rest no fingerprints.
Lighted keyboard.
Very good speakers.
Very good venting and cooling. Look at it on Circuit City website. Good photos.
Nice screen (Not HD)
2nd drive bay available
Reasonable number of ports & connections
Minimal bloatware.
Well packaged for shipping.
The Bad: Very short battery life (1 Hr). Minimal 3 Month Warranty as a refirb.
This unit can generate some heat on AC. I bought a Targus cooling mat for it just to be safe.
In all I am satisfied. It meets my needs very nicely. If you are nervous about a refirb, relax, give it a shot.
Good value at $619 if it lasts. Only time will tell ...
Four star because of only one little thing about it, the cosmetic finish of Below the keyboard is like... ... Weak? the paint would get crashed even if it has no scratches... But is a LITTLE thing. GREAT LAPTOP AND REAT PRICE.
I run BLACK OPS "FULL GRAPHICS SETTINGS" 8x Anti Alias, ALL DETAIL FULL at 45fps aproximately. Crysis 8x anti alias all on high except for textures, physx and water, i set those 3 on VERY HIGH. like 40 fps... SO, wanna play? GET THIS ONE, wanna work? I render like 10x faster than i did with CPU render, ADOBE AFTER FX, PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR... ALL CS5 MASTER COLLECTION, ABSOLUTELY COMPATIBLE WITH PROTOOLS LE 8 AND 9 (NEVER TESTED PROTOOLS HD)
Probably a bit late for this review as we bought this Christmas 1010. The computer runs great, has had no problems, has played all the games he likes that takes lots of memory and a good graphics card. The only consideration is that the battery only lasts about an hour or so, depending on what you do. The keys have an underlight and there is a great lighted design on the front. Wonderful picture. I own one of these too which is why they wanted one and am writing this review on it. I also own an Asus Netbook with Windows XP on it. I bought an external drive to load games, an extra gig of memory and I can hook it up to my TV and play older games on it. Love both of them.Best Deals for ASUS G60VX-RBBX05 Refurbished Notebook PC
Buy Toshiba Satellite A35-S159 Laptop (2.30-GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM
I've had this computer for almost three years. About two years into it it developed the heating issue that others have complained about it began shutting down at unpredictable intervals; usually when I had the CPU running at full capacity. I did some research and discovered that the problem was dust. Namely poor cooling design causes the computer to take dust inside and over time it makes it hard for the computer to release heat properly. I took it to a computing center and got them to open it up and clear out the dust I'd long since been off warranty.
I also went out and dropped 20 dollars on an extrernal antec laptop fan. It's the kind of fan that you sit your computer on and it operates more silently than the toshiba fan. Together with a regular vaccuming of the actual laptop fan to suck out any dust I haven't had a problem since then. I'm going to take it in again in a month or two to get the dust cleared out BEFORE I start having problems again.
So I know what you're thinking...why the 4 stars? I paid less than 1200 bucks for this machine. A dell machine of similar price would be falling apart in many, many, more critical ways (I should know I used to work in a computer lab), and compaq's/hps are infinitely worse machines. It's speedy, I've had absolutely no connectivity problems with the wifi (I've used over a dozen different wifi connections and I often have a stronger connection than my friends), ditto with the LAN...I've used the modem precisely once so I can't comment on that.
I've put a total of 70 dollars worth of service into this machine. You put way more money into a car to maintain it. A computer is a complicated piece of machinery...I don't understand people who think that they can buy it and not have to do anything to allow it to keep operating in peak condition.
Does this computer have it's flaws? Yes. But for it's price it's a good value. I wouldn't buy a Honda and expect a Mercedes.
What sets this laptop apart is stability, I can have 3-4 programs running at once and it never crashes. I will definitely stick with Toshiba for my next laptop whenever that may be.
Not a speed demon, but solid and dependible.
The overheating issues have been grossly over stated by a few noisy users. A little care and proper handling/storage and use of this little box and it is happy to perform.
I'm writing this as a testament to Toshiba's quality and reliability. The A-35 is no longer available but Toshiba still continues to make the soundest, best built and nost dependible laptops. Period.
I worked at Microsoft for 4 years, and when I was ready to buy a laptop, I asked around. Engineers, technicians, developers, Program Managers unanimously told me to 'Buy a Toshiba!'. So I did. Good advice.
Toshiba has listened to the marketplace and added more USB ports to subsequent models. The touchpad has improved.
Buy on price point if you dare, but you can't go wrong forking over a few more bones to buy Toshiba's solid dependibility.
i have had this laptop for 3 years now, and during the 1 year company warranty and 3 year with compusa, i had the WORST cooling problem...like the other users on this review forum, I had to ice the heat sinc in order to keep my laptop from shutting off abruptly (note folks that this is a security for your computer, if it continues to increase in temperature while it remains on, your hardware may be destroyed due to intense heat)...thus i had compusa replace the whole cooling system...it was a breeze and on a couple occasion had it it abruptly shut down on its own with the new cooling plates (for the new users without a warranty, the best way to maintain the cooling system is to blow straight into the exhaust while holding a damp cloth up to the fan screen, thus you will catch all the dust build-up)...also while i had my laptop hanging from my shoulder, my mustang door came swinging back at me knocking my laptop to the ground causing the hard driv to fail....this is typcial once excessive shock has been encountered...i simply had this replaced...for the next year and a half i had no problems and with all the things filed such as my library of 1500+ songs and music videos i still havnt filled up the lovely 60GB HDD...it is however as we call it today, a good desktop replacement according to its weight...its weight is on the rim btwn laptops that stay at home and laptops you can lug around at school...lately however iv been using a 3rd party ac adaptor and my ground needle snapped off...eventually i believe the temporary solder work i did to charge the unit caused the lcd backlight to short...after much research NOTE* even though your power jack supply is fused to the motherboard, you can have someone professionally un-solder that jack and replace it with another one at (which is about $25)...and if you can spot what has caused your backlight to go out like mine, (connections, lcd, bulb, etc) generailly it is bound to be the whole screen...all you need to do is go to a site like and they will provide you a brand new screen (with available extra options like XBRITE in sync with the tech today)for roughly around $250 $300 brand new... USERS if u made the investment already, take care of it because regardless of TOSHIBA having great technology the only downer is that their parts and durabilty are not necessarily the strongest...in comparison to the new line of Sony Vaio Laptops my A35 is just one big peice of powerful plastic...if u refuse to do repairs there are companies wherein you can sell your computer and they will buy it off you for the good parts...I FOR ONE AM IN NO FINANCIAL POSITION TO GET UP AND REPLACE THE WHOLE THING ESPECIALLY WITH THE NEW COOLING SYSTEM AND HARD DRIVE...it has served me strong for the past 3 YEARS in MOVIE MAKING for school, music promotion, web-design, church-sermon audio recording/digital and many work and school related tasks, so far everything else is good for another couple years...thnxBest Deals for Toshiba Satellite A35-S159 Laptop (2.30-GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM
I've had my AS35-S159 for close to 8 years with almost no problems. I bought this computer about a year ago and like one of the previous owners, I had a problem with it shutting down for no reason. I found after sending it out to get serviced that the CPU fan went bad and when it overheated, it shut down. I like the keyboard feel and the display is good in comparision to my older Toshiba laptop. I wish that it had more USB ports and expansion, but the ability to load it up with 2 gig of ram is a plus. The battery life is good too.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Toshiba Satellite A35-S159 Laptop (2.30-GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM
Discount Lenovo IdeaPad U510 15.6-Inch Ultrabook (Graphite Gray)
Anyone interested in buying this particular model please stay away from it. Lenovo Ideapad U510 model has a very known hardware issue with the ELAN touchpad. I returned this model exactly for the same issue. This issue is known since Dec 2012 I believe. See the following link:
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Jumpy-and-Laggy-Touchpad-on-U510/td-p/952467
You will literally find 14 pages filled with customer complaints. The discussion thread stopped when someone from Lenovo support acknowledged it as hardware issue. Lenovo is shameless that it is still selling this faulty model just to clear its inventory. Looks like they prefer their own interests over ours. They should have recalled this model and come up with a new model that fixes the touchpad issue and discontinue the U510 model altogether.
I bought this Lenovo laptop to replace my old Lenevo Thinkpad bought 6 yrs ago. I thought Lenovo was a great brand but I will now shop for either HP or Dell.
Great perforemce at a great price.
The touchpad is quite annoying, as it jumps when scrolling down otherwise ok.
The wifi does go off often for inexplicable reasons (on battery and everything, still unstable) had to get the official drivers with the connection utility from Intel to be at least able to troubleshoot it efficiently.
The battery lasts pretty long, some 4 hours, so that's fine.
Also, for some reason, sometimes when I close the lid, it goes to sleep, sometimes it turns off (although I set it up to go to sleep only), so I don't know what the deal is with that.
ALSO, there was a huge problem with the online sign-in to Windows8 with my (or any) Microsoft account initially (it was impossible, gave me an error every time) and I solved that by changing some registry (do your research and you'll find a solution), and it looks like Lenovo has a broken copy of Win8 that they are putting on these computers, otherwise the system has worked fine.
Moreover, beware, the speakers are really, really quiet, it's kinda ridiculous.
Oh yeah, and the last problem (I'm aware of) is the annoying beeping when the battery is low. I did all the research and no, it is not possible to turn off in the system or in bios, anywhere you just need to mute ALL the sounds, then it goes away. That means that you are not able to play any other sounds at the same time.
So yeah, there are many issues with this. I'd say the best thing about this computer is the design and a good keyboard, otherwise don't spend more money than you have to, there are other models from other brands that work much better for this price!
The touchpad was so sensitive that the machine would not stay on the page that you were looking at, and when it did the mouse pointer was jumping all over the screen. Wireless connectivity was limited to 5 10 feet from my new Cisco router. It seems that both of these problems have been written up extensively on the web (Lenovo laptop problems) for the last few years. Unfortunately I did not see them before I bought this machine. It has since been returned.
I purchased this hp pavillion sleekbook on black Friday at staples which costed me 299.99. Its not bad, very light and the windows 8 os is very responsive with the sleekbook touchpad. Note this computer does not come with a touch screen and no cd rom drive. It comes with bells and whistles like bluetooth hd webcam and 3 hour battery for internet use. Off internet the battery last for 4 hours. Last an hd screen display. This is a decent laptop if your looking to do productivit and lite media editing and nothing to heavy. I dong give 5 stars but I will only give it a 4 stars.
For clarification: This is my second HP in 5 years. This was not a product or brand problem, the brand has been wonderful to me so far! [the story:] My other one was plugged in at the kitchen table so I could work on a final paper and watch my kids paint and when I was getting them their drinks my oldest son tripped over the cord and I was unable to brace the fall and my previous laptop screen shattered beyond use. It was a suck fest. I have tried a few other brands only to be an angry/psycho scholar who had been screwed during finals/midterms [that happened 3 times]. SO I am biased towards HP now, simply because they have provided me with great products :)
I purchased this hp pavillion sleekbook on black Friday at staples which costed me 299.99. Its not bad, very light and the windows 8 os is very responsive with the sleekbook touchpad. Note this computer does not come with a touch screen and no cd rom drive. It comes with bells and whistles like bluetooth hd webcam and 3 hour battery for internet use. Not too impressed with Windows 8. I really miss the "start" button. However, that's a Microsoft issue, not HP. The integrated camera works well, no problems with any of the video features kids constantly watching Youtube. Extra USB slot is nice comes with 3. Miss a DVD drive for the kids, but most of the movies they watch today are digital downloads. I actually bought two of these one for each son. Very satisfied, the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the missing DVD drive.Best Deals for HP Pavilion 14-b031us Sleekbook 14.0in Laptop (Intel Pentium
This is my second HP laptop and I am not at all disappointed. I Thought I saw the separate number pad but it is not in this laptop, which is ok, because this laptop is super! It is very light compared to my last one and very sleek look. The camera works well. The set up is easy. Still working on what the life of battery is [I am doing a personal study with multiple trials to do this, I will update later]. The sound is crisp and clear but still not loud [kinda a bummer]. The Bluetooth is great! I much more prefer the Bluetooth capabilities than a CD/DVD drive [which doe snot come with this model]. The description clearly states there is no CD/DVD so be advised. Plus the only negative review on this product is simply that of someones own mistake(s) when shopping. The Bluetooth is easy to set up and use. I enjoy sending pictures to the computer from my phone, using the computer as a speaker phone while I am doing my homework or taking quizzes. This allows me to just connect via cell phone and jam instead of taking extra effort to upload music or even popping in a CD [which cannot happen with this model :P ] It is just conveniently. Love this product.For clarification: This is my second HP in 5 years. This was not a product or brand problem, the brand has been wonderful to me so far! Honest reviews on HP Pavilion 14-b031us Sleekbook 14.0in Laptop (Intel Pentium
This 14-b031 Sleekbook is light and nimble on its feet. After using it for a couple of months a more balanced review can be given. Facing the new learning curve of Windows 8 focused my attention on the operating system rather than the computer. Once Windows 8 had been learned the Sleekbook has some neat and nimble features. First the weight is much lighter than my former laptop. This makes it nice to travel with. Open the lid and it starts up very quickly. The smaller 14" screen has been no hindrance. The keyboard is nice too, it seems just right. It never seems to run hot in my lap with HP Coolsense. It is my hope that I never have to use the HP Protect Smart for dropping it. However, packing a laptop around increases the risk of being dropped. The general features of being light weight, price, and amble work capacity, makes it an all around machine that does all I need to do.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for HP Pavilion 14-b031us Sleekbook 14.0in Laptop (Intel Pentium
My husband is that tech savvy so this was bought for him and I must say I love it. It is very sleek, light weight, great battery life. The camera for video chat is very clear. Quick start up, and I can have multiple windows open and still have the speed no slow down.
